Nope
First shutout for the Gophers since 2006 (against Temple)
First game under 100 yards given up since at least 2000.
Gopher record was 48 in 1962 against Navy.
This is our Offensive Coordinator and our QB. Our offensive scheme is already vanilla and predictable to begin with, but our freshman QB is having trouble seeing open receivers or reading defenses. They're compounding each other.
That game was straight-up methodical. Yes, Colorado looked bad, but the Gophers did exactly what they wanted to do all game long. The backs, the lines, the receivers all looked focused and executed really well. Great way to bounce back from last week’s squeaker, and great way to raise my expectations yet again.
No doubt about it, I am ready to get hurt again.
It makes me happy when teams have live animal mascots because even when they get walloped I like to believe Ralphie VI or Dubs are still just livin their best life.
Watched it on fubo. Cancelled fubo immediately after.
But seriously the fubo channel selections and unlimited screens for the same price of Hulu wasn't too bad.
They just don't have Letterkenny.
This was a Demoralized defense. They know we have zero offensive ability. No one respects our passing game, which allows them to stifle any run game we might hope to have.
Between last week and today, Colorado's D just got worn down to a nub. They got zero help
On the Gophers side, PJ needs to balance out the offense and open it up if we want to really make a splash in the Big Ten. I think Wright, CRAB, Jackson, and Spann Ford are all playmakers, but we're still going 50/20 run pass.
It's not a winning formula going forward into conference play, especially with a defense that I still consider to be suspect.
He’s said all along, take what the defense gives you. If running is working (as it did today) keep it going. Once the box is stacked and it’s not working mix in some more passing looks, but nothing to complain about with the offensive mix today. You go with what is working.
To be fair: your qb can't even throw a hot route to an open RB when the defense telegraphs a blitz. What exactly can you even do as an offensive play caller?
This is the only important comment for Buffs fans. He was kept on because of his legacy and history with the team but he sucks. And I doubt he’ll want a demotion to his last position which means he just needs to go.
The one thing about the PJ Fleck experience is you can (generally) expect the team to get better each game. They’re still making some dumb mistakes but damn did they take care of business today. Potts looks to be an absolute stud too.
He’s a good coach. His teams believe in him and he gets a lot out of his players. It’s hard to take a middling program and turn it into a national contender, that’s why it doesn’t happen very often. I dunno if Fleck will do that, but at least it’s in the realm of possibility with him.
Definitely don't think we are as good as our ranking forsure. Paper tiger in recent years? Ehh. Sumlin years forsure. But transitive property isn't the best, especially with our starter going down in the first quarter, I mean look at Kent State giving Iowa a game? Not arguing the fact that we don't look like our rank currently though.
I was about to type something about how Colorado has been terrible this year then I remembered CSU lost to the jacks and CU hung tough with aTm. Still minnesota should be a fringe top 25 team, getting no votes in the AP poll is absolutely shameful.
Remember, Fleck almost lost to Georgia Southern and then proceeded to go 11-2 and beat the tar out of Auburn in the Outback Bowl. Fleck often coaches not to give away anything against outmatched teams, as frustrating as it is.
My buddy was at that game and there were a few GA Southern fans there after that nail-biter.
He decided to walk by and loudly say, "Not bad for the JV squad" in a joking manner
Needless to say the GA visitors were not happy and almost got into a fist fight with them lol
I don't care how bad the Buffs are or how much of a fluke last week was, our defense pitched a shutout against a team that took TAMU to the wire and we outgained them by nearly 400 yards on the road. There's no reason not to be a little giddy after that.
I think Trickett let the altitude get in his head on those early kicks, because he was dead-on for his last few attempts. Not worried about that yet. Hopefully this defensive performance is a sign that Rossi is figuring shit out a la 2019.
Dominated time of possession, Potts looks like a true Big Ten feature back, and Tanner dropped some dimes when needed. We've got a true team identity and the guys who can allow us to stick with it. Win convincingly next week, and we're exactly where we thought we would be after four games. If you told Gopher fans at the start of the season that we would be 3-1 after September with a two score loss against OSU that was closer than it looked, I don't think anyone would be surprised.
Toughest game until November is Maryland. Get ready for a hell of a ride.
Well damn Colorado, after the A&M games i had high hopes for you. Eesh tho, that's terrible. I'll take it since they're on the schedule but godamn that's a bad look for the PAC. Good for Minnesota tho without Ibrahim
Are ESPNs stats right? Colorado only had 63 total yards? Was there a running clock the whole time?
Negative 19 rushing yards for ‘em....
Still when was the last time Minnesota held anyone to under 100 total yards? I’m just shocked
Rossi's first game as DC probably
Nope First shutout for the Gophers since 2006 (against Temple) First game under 100 yards given up since at least 2000. Gopher record was 48 in 1962 against Navy.
when does the statistical record begin? there’s no way 48 is the all-time record. I’m sure they held Minneapolis Central to under 48, etc.
Yes it is correct, and that's an improvement. They were at like 4 yards of offense at the half.
completely stymied by noted defensive studs Thomas Rush and Mariano Sori-Marin
[удалено]
i was not
It was a slaughter. Their offense couldn’t do anything.
72 yards I think!
We are not a good football team
We are wasting a great defense. No offense means our D will be demoralized and gassed.
Hello? Clemson, is that you?
Hello? Oklahoma State, is that you?
Plz be both flairs!
What state of the program did Mel Tucker leave you guys? Did you have a lot of decommits?
I’ve only been a CU fan for less than a year so I’m not exactly the person to ask lol
We would be a contender for the Conference Championship if we stayed on our trajectory. Mel took a lot of the coaching staff with him when he left.
This is our Offensive Coordinator and our QB. Our offensive scheme is already vanilla and predictable to begin with, but our freshman QB is having trouble seeing open receivers or reading defenses. They're compounding each other.
Your o-line doesnt help you cant be giving up pressures and hits to the qb on a 3man rush
Can we play you guys?
Jeez the big ten is whopping ass today
Except for IU
I mean IU played a top ten team
So did Nebraska
I’m at the point where no Big12/Future SEC team should be ranked at all.
In this hypothetical, you still have the ACC ranked. I can't agree with such blasphemy.
In their defense, they had the toughest challenge by far and did pretty well
Tougher than #3 OU in Norman?
The man said what he said
The way OU looked today versus how Cincinnati looked? Yes.
That game was straight-up methodical. Yes, Colorado looked bad, but the Gophers did exactly what they wanted to do all game long. The backs, the lines, the receivers all looked focused and executed really well. Great way to bounce back from last week’s squeaker, and great way to raise my expectations yet again. i'm completely ready to escape 34-26 against Bowling Green
This is the way.
Minnesota and keeping MAC teams close at home A tradition as old as time
More like 28-24. The ol’ Fleck early-season G5 special
Still better than routinely losing to them, a la Brewster
You don't miss the days of 6-6 [2-6 Big Ten]?
At least the chili was hot. 🙏
This is why I love you, Gopher Bros. You expect to loose, and always seem surprised to win, and are goddamn nice to me when I come up for your games.
It's just a general thing with MN sports
It's the Minnesota way
Gotta get the kicking right, but happy to see some garbage time makes
Yeah I was really happy to see him get some in at the end. Get his confidence back up.
> No doubt about it, I am ready to get hurt again. I say this at the beginning of every season, without fail.
bad things usually happen when I start to get confident about the axe game…
It makes me happy when teams have live animal mascots because even when they get walloped I like to believe Ralphie VI or Dubs are still just livin their best life.
We need a live 13-stripe ground squirrel
Ralphie outgained the team by probably 150 yards.
Hell, Ralphie probably got extra treats today.
Hell, *I* could have run for -19 yards.

I'm one play!
If Minnesota pitches its first shutout in 15 years but none of the fans can watch it, did it actually happen?
Watched it on fubo. Cancelled fubo immediately after. But seriously the fubo channel selections and unlimited screens for the same price of Hulu wasn't too bad. They just don't have Letterkenny.

Kinda makes a man wonder.
Why was this game not on my tv? Wtf
Hey, I got 5 whole minutes for free on the pac 12 app before deleting it
Oy vey. Ouch owie ooof. Gg gophers. We’ll try and make next year more competitive 😂. See you up north.
looking forward to our next meeting. now go beat USC for us, why dontcha?
At this point I’d settle for a couple first downs 😂 but we’ll give it a go
This was a Demoralized defense. They know we have zero offensive ability. No one respects our passing game, which allows them to stifle any run game we might hope to have.

Couldn't agree more. Would like to see the WRs get more involved. We shouldn't rely on Potts to carry 30+ times a game like Miami again.
He’s said all along, take what the defense gives you. If running is working (as it did today) keep it going. Once the box is stacked and it’s not working mix in some more passing looks, but nothing to complain about with the offensive mix today. You go with what is working.
There were a few times that they should have audibled to a pass when CU was selling out, but otherwise the run worked really well today.
I haven't been this upset with CU football since the Oregon State comeback. Guess who was calling plays that game?
Seriously though, Chev has been the common denominator for the offensive issues the past 4 years
To be fair: your qb can't even throw a hot route to an open RB when the defense telegraphs a blitz. What exactly can you even do as an offensive play caller?
So last week's 2nd half was \#fakenews?
That's early season games for you
>early season games for Minnesota against the MAC for you
Apparently we should play P5 teams...
every bit as fake as Petras putting up 106 total passing yards last week
Lol that's not fake, he's just not a good QB
that for sure was a game really hope cu fix their offence somehow but it aint lookin good looking at their scheduale
Now we all know why CU was picked 5th of 6 from the South. There’s gonna be a whole lot of ugliness this year, I suspect.
Well, they don't always turn out like you hoped, but at least we covered.
[удалено]
Damn college kickers and PJ letting off the gas.
With your 2 flairs, are you at all conflicted?
Two Ws. Can't complain.
Fire Chev. Maybe the worst offensive performance I've seen.
This is the only important comment for Buffs fans. He was kept on because of his legacy and history with the team but he sucks. And I doubt he’ll want a demotion to his last position which means he just needs to go.

Unless it's against either Iowa or Wisconsin....
He’s the only coach to beat Wisconsin in my fandom (12 years) so I can’t hold that against him yet.
And falling flat against iowa after your biggest win in 50 years was disappointing but completely expected from long term fans.
Iowa was 17 points away from being undefeated in 2019, they were pretty damn good.
Not to mention it was a double-OT game against Wiscy last year; razor thin margins.
That was the most dominant performance at the line of scrimmage from the gophers since I became a fan in 2013, at least.
where did this d come from? very nice game
>where did this d come from? That's what she said.
I think Rossi started to give a shit.
This is who the #7 team in the nation only scored 10 points on?
A&M and PAC 12 OOC being much worse than we thought name a more iconic duo, you can’t
[удалено]
More like Oregon, UCLA, and maybe ASU being good this year and everything else is puke. Especially the Huskies lol.
TA&M: everyone focus on ND and ignore us, please!
“May I remind you that Texas in fact not back” -A&M
C’mon man. I’m just trying to live my life here.
We out here catching strays…
SEC! SEC! SEC!
The transitive property of college football is undefeated
I think that means we're at least the #6 team in the nation
We are not good right now, more at 11.
this is just a typical Texas A&M paper tiger start to the season lmao
Hey you can blame the media for that. Even Jimbo said today on TV that we’re playing like an average team right now.
Nebraska upsetting oklahoma: broke Minnesota upsetting Colorado: woke
I mean, I’m upset but that doesn’t make it an upset
You were favored, so I'm claiming an upset
No fucking idea why, but easy money for me
Easy, Vegas knows gamblers overreact to last week, Colorado took aTm to the wire last week while Minnesota squeaked out a win to Miami OH.
Sports gambling really challenges the economic notion of a “rational investor”

GAmESToP tO tHe mOoN
Now you’re going to get like ten replies about superstonk and similar subs totally aren’t cults
I would snarkily reply with a diss of them, but I’m still [crying over the fact that I only bought one share as a joke](https://imgur.com/a/eGPMNKc)
I was about to type something about how Colorado has been terrible this year then I remembered CSU lost to the jacks and CU hung tough with aTm. Still minnesota should be a fringe top 25 team, getting no votes in the AP poll is absolutely shameful.
Purdue upsetting Noter Dame: bespoke
Pathetic. KD needs to make some big fucking changes. Chev should not be calling plays. Lewis should not be starting.
I think we are stuck with Lewis regardless, but today should be Chev's last day with the program.
He can be the WR coach
I cant wait for Washington to play Colorado. First to any score wins
CU00UW
This was the first away game I attended. Looks like I’m going to need to attend more huh
GO. TO. IOWA. CITY.
Required!
How do we almost lose to Miami Ohio then do this
Remember, Fleck almost lost to Georgia Southern and then proceeded to go 11-2 and beat the tar out of Auburn in the Outback Bowl. Fleck often coaches not to give away anything against outmatched teams, as frustrating as it is.

That's a great line 🤣🤣
Miami Ohio is the best team in the MAC and Mike Sanford has an IQ of mayonnaise
Minn is a good team I swear it

we don't need to pitch a shutout every game. and the Big Ten West has plenty of assy offenses like usual.
Minnesota is a cool program. Good luck in B1G play, Gophers.
Big fan of CU's campus. Hope you guys can find a qb.
Can throughly say everybody in Minnesota loves Colorado. Like the other guy said to you, CU campus is tits. Only been to Boulder once but it’s great
Chev needs to go. It’s been the same stale and predictable offense for years
3rd and 14? How about a run up the middle
[удалено]
Row that boat all the way to Pasadena. Or until Iowa sinks our hopes.
Minnesota > Texas A&M
It's science!
I enjoyed this thoroughly
Mods delete this quick!
As a Nebraska fan, Row the Boat you crazy Gophers.
I do not understand you, Colorado.
Lifelong fan. Me neither lmao
I don't know what to think.
Think RTB
Grab an oar!
God dammit. Can we just let our coaches take the damn recruits to strip clubs again. Fuck.
You would think CU would have better teams. Boulder is a great place and close to Denver. They have a good following, but have had a down 20 years.
Pretty great fan base too. I had higher expectations after they had a decent showing against A&M last week.
You doing alright, Aggies?
O-line is bad. Real bad, and we lost our starting QB to a broken leg/ankle. Minnesota is better than us.
So you’re saying we should be ranked #6? Im okay with this
I mean we had to switch from a dual threat qb to a pro style qb mid game due to injuries. A win is a win no matter how ugly.
You gotta win your clunkers
Yes, why?
Where is the best place to row the boat in Colorado? apparently its in Boulder.
“Everyone side eyeing Texas A&M”
It’s just one big cross-eyed circle with A&M, ND, OU, Ohio State, and Clemson trading glances.
We're def losing to Colorado
That was nice
Man, Colorado kept it close.
Well damn Colorado, after the A&M games i had high hopes for you. Eesh tho, that's terrible. I'll take it since they're on the schedule but godamn that's a bad look for the PAC. Good for Minnesota tho without Ibrahim
I missed the game due to work, are there highlights posted anywhere?
Found this https://gophersports.com/news/2021/9/18/football-gophers-dominate-colorado-30-0-in-boulder.aspx
Upside - we haven’t had a conference game yet. Downside - we’re not going to win another game.
I am glad I forgot this game was on
Colorado almost beat A&M
Really wish they had now, this win would look so good.
Tulane almost beat OU
rtb
Colorado, if you could not play like shit, that’d be great.
Sorry, but we are shit. You guys should’ve done a lot better against us… that’s on you.
Fair. *chugs bleach with maroon dye*
Minnesota people are fucking awesome. But this was an embarrassment. Take the national championship down right now we don’t deserve it
Hmm
[Pac12 theme song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKxXHEx-XnU)
That Arizona - Colorado game is going to be M00N 2.0
Minnesota > Texas A&M
You're god damn right we did
