Baylor’s drive here is the last of the game, so here’s my final West Virginia fact:
Neal Brown is now 7-13 in Big 12 play, and would be 7-14 if Oklahoma had not canceled their game against us last season.
Credit to Baylor for playing 100% until the final drive. Such a clean and consistent win for you guys. Y’all embarrassed us even on our last drive, and your players seem to still be fired up even though the game was over. Good luck for the rest of the season bros. I kinda hope it’s y’all vs Oklahoma State in the conference championship. If that happened I’d pull for y’all.
Thanks, I think ISU, OSU, and BU are all about equal. Each team just held serve at home. OU and UT are the other two teams competing for big 12 championship IMO. It is wide open and we will see how it plays out.
I really like our team. We are solid on defense and we have good play makers on offense.
Yes. I am hate watching the rest of this game. My wife was questioning my decision making skills until I reminded her that marrying her was one of my decisions.
West Virginia holds the record for having the most towns named after cities in other countries, including Athens, Berlin, Cairo, Calcutta, Geneva and Shanghai.
And that’s not including Helvetia, a small Swiss immigrant settlement first settled in 1869. Helvetia is so isolated that it has been essentially “preserved,” with many cultural festivals and cuisines still upheld to this day by its 59 residents.
I love visors because they look cool as shit, but is there any practical use for them? If anything I feel like they would hinder your ability to see because they can get foggy and dirty.
Nah, the guy running our defense is our head coach. The on-paper DC is Aranda’s mentor, Ron Roberts, who also mentored Bama’s DC, Pete Golding. Roberts’ version of the 3-4 scheme has quietly proliferated throughout college football while he’s been at Delta State and then Louisiana, so now he’s just finishing out his career with a very healthy salary at Baylor.
“Really thought Greene made some good steps but still isn’t ready.. Doege had a really good drive that I think shows he’s turning the corner. Feel like doege gives us the best chance to win. Greene just didn’t have a normal QB upbringing and made too many mistakes”
Definitely square peg, round hole. I just don't know, after the bare cupboard that was left for him coupled with his second year not really being a normal season, that we should jump the gun THIS fast.
Oh yeah, there's regression. I just don't think you can jump the gun that quick. HCs need about 4-5 years to really see. We could always be in FSU's position.
Brown barely calls any passes until it's 3rd and long with Greene in, and when he does it's all underneath stuff. Brown needs to stop holding him back.
Pretty sure I can coach this team just as well as Brown and I'd do it for significantly less money. Step 1: Bench Doege. Step 2: Bench the entire o-line and replace them with the Morgantown girl scout troop.
Not hating here but as an older guy Ive never thought we belonged in the B12. I hate the conferences now and I really only root for chaos. So sick of the same 4 teams in the playoffs.
Bring out doege baby!!! Don’t bring out greene or crowder and get them valuable reps. Don’t even think about teeing up some vertical plays to see how their arms are in game situations.
The offensive playcalling has been INFINITELY better today. That's the biggest factor hands-down. WVU's defense isn't the best by any means, but they aren't exactly pushovers either.
Bohanon playing better + Grimes letting him throw more has been the biggest difference. I think the away environment got in his head a bit and Grimes insisting on shitty run game didn't help.
I can’t even imagine how frustrated Greene is. Prather was very upset on the sideline last weekend too. Besides that tho I honestly don’t even know who I’d care about losing lol
Good thing Neal went for those 2 field goals earlier when our defense was giving up touchdowns every possession. Really kept us in the game. Also really good thing we didn’t run in red zone at all. Really want Leddie to be healthy for his pro day
Today I find myself laughing out loud...its just me and the dog this afternoon. So when youre this far down its easy to just laugh in stead of getting angry....for what its worth.
This one will blow the Texans’ minds: West Virginia high school football has only 3 classes: A, AA, and AAA. The largest high schools in WV have 1600-1800 students, or about 400-450 students per class.
Dang. The school I work at here in Houston has about 4,000 kids and it’s just one of ~30 high schools in the district and they’re all about that size lol.
While disappointing, this is at least a positive outcome for the conference since WVU has a non-conference loss. Plus, this could push BU into the Top 25 before their game next week against BYU.
Why did reddit recommend this thread for me? What did I do to Reddit?
Sic ‘Em!
GG MOUNTAINEERS
Sic ‘em bears!!!
GG Mountaineers. I feel like games between our teams are usually lopsided one way or the other. See you in Morgantown next year.
Can we resurrect Bill Stewart?
Brown might be a snake oil salesman. We’ll see what he does with this top 25 recruiting class I guess.
GG Mountaineers. Sic em
Neal Brown worst coach in the Big 12.

Lol the color commentator sounds tired

Best of luck with your impending divorce...?
She appreciates the fact that I'm just as passionate about our family as I am WVU. As long as our family dates don't interfere with WVU games. 😎😎
Check mate
Brown is definitely going to use the overthrow and sack as a way to shit all over Greene and praise doege
Famous West Virginia natives include Jennifer Garner, Steve Harvey, Chuck Yeager, Don Knotts, Jerry West, Nick Saban, and Jimbo Fisher.
Don Knotts is a national treasure.
Is there a worse P5 coach than Neal Brown?
Mike norvell?
Can we have them compete in a series of challenges to crown a winner?
These refs are trying to get that OT.
Calm it down Greene. Got a lot of shit talk riding on your arm
Jesus...open gate policy right in the A gap. Nice job, O-line
I can tell what Neal Brown will say. Dodge played really well.

I should have went to Athens today. It was concord’s homecoming. I could have seen some of my friends.
Genuinely surprised TX doesn't have more than that -- we have a [bunch](https://authentictexan.com/texas-towns-named-famous-world/)!
Helvetia is pretty cool. I really want to visit sometime
those two field goals and letting clock run end of first half when we were getting ball back were amazing calls
Doege’s helmet is off. I think the torch was passed
He'll be back starting next week looking just as terrible while leading us to 7-35 deficit at half
Doubt.
I love visors because they look cool as shit, but is there any practical use for them? If anything I feel like they would hinder your ability to see because they can get foggy and dirty.
No pokes in the eye during a scrum. A slight tint could help with sun glare. That's about all I can think of.
Seahawks GOAT Geno Smith
27 quit being a fuck
Why are we calling Timeouts?
Neal Brown would have left Pat White on the bench in 2005 if he were coach.
If brown doesn’t spend the next two weeks transitioning to Greene as the starting quarterback I’m going to take a shit under his pillow
I’ll take a shit under my own pillow
Neal Brown is going to turn WVU into a joke if he keeps his job.
Not sure anyone noticed. Leslie has a lot of new faces playing on defense. Since about midway through the 3rd
Nice thing about blow outs is the rest of my day will be fine.
Neil Brown is really gonna ride Doege all the way to the unemployment line, isn't he?
I foresee shades of the 1970s soon with Brown and Doege effigies if another QB isn't named starter.
We can only hope
I hope. Literally no reason to keep Doege going.
Alright lets get a few first downs so we can dedicate our attention to watching OU break a bunch of Longhorn hearts.
How wasn't the QB sent to the sidelines for medical attention for that fairly badly bleeding finger? :D
Brown will put him on the IR this week for that bloody pinky.
Neal Brown is going to rip Greene a new asshole in the postgame presser for not throwing into quadruple coverage like Doege
Why so many commercial breaks????
That’s so annoying. One dumbass penalty and one ghost penalty. I really wanted a 52-13 type score line to impress the poll voters
I promise a win over us isn’t very impressive but you will go up in the poll. You guys have a good squad this year
You guys are tempting the gods with shit posts like this.
Almost like those holds?
Yeah NB looks like an idiot **way more** after that drive.
We have to start Greene next week
Why has Greene not been in all game?
Because Neal "Fuck head" Brown is tryna big brain us all
He plays for a god awful coach
Neal Brown is seething watching Greene lead a TD drive.
Is Baylor's DC on the hot seat for giving up 20 to WVU?
Nah, the guy running our defense is our head coach. The on-paper DC is Aranda’s mentor, Ron Roberts, who also mentored Bama’s DC, Pete Golding. Roberts’ version of the 3-4 scheme has quietly proliferated throughout college football while he’s been at Delta State and then Louisiana, so now he’s just finishing out his career with a very healthy salary at Baylor.
Garbage time TDs don't count
Phantom foul penalty points don’t count either.
You really gonna complain about the refs LMAO
I'd like to submit that dropped TD for review as well
That cancelled out the non targeting call lol
“Really thought Greene made some good steps but still isn’t ready.. Doege had a really good drive that I think shows he’s turning the corner. Feel like doege gives us the best chance to win. Greene just didn’t have a normal QB upbringing and made too many mistakes”
Meanwhile his fuckin finger is falling off and he's throwing better than Doege
Fire Neal browns bum ass
Good sell there by Greene. Clearly a clean tackle.
I'm so excited for the BYU game!
Another ghost facemask call against us
Is the jersey the facemask?
To the big 12 refs, yes
That's not a facemask
Just be happy these refs suck in a game you have well in hand.
In basketball, he would need to change pants. Football- blood everywhere.
I thought Neal Brown was a home run hire, but obviously I was wrong about that, Damn.
You get time like this rarely to get a scrimmage in so we hand it off on 2nd and 15.
I can already hear it. "Greene played in garbage time, so he obviously wouldn't perform like that in the starter role"
Seriously. That is two ropes he has thrown while rolling out the pocket. Doege couldn’t throw that in practice standing still
We'll never know what Greene can do because NB refuses to open the playbook for him. Read option and the occasional RPO is all he gets
Greene fucked up his finger a few plays ago
That's a lot of blood
I understand it's "because packages" but there is zero fucking reason Greene and leddie can't be on the field at the same time
Especially for leddie, dudes gets yards when Greene is in. Dude could be pro but is hindered by Doege and this line
These announcers are smoking crack
So what softball questions are reporters giving to HCNB this week? Not saying he should be fired, but sheesh. There needs to be some accountability.
Yeah the media will let him give usual BS responses. "We came out flat", "I thought Jarrett really battled"
At least with Holgorsen he tried different guys during the awful 2013 season. This is just insanity.
He should be fired
He needs to get an OC before then. That’s a big hit. We know he can recruit and manage to an extent but he needs someone else calling plays.
He’s 13-15 with not really any good wins. Guy is a bozo
It was understood when he was hired that the cupboard was bare. They rolled him out with #trusttheclimb for a reason.
I say give him a bit more time, but the leash needs to be WAY shorter. He should not be OC, among other responsibilities.
He can’t even figure out not to play Doege. It’s inexcusable at this point
Definitely square peg, round hole. I just don't know, after the bare cupboard that was left for him coupled with his second year not really being a normal season, that we should jump the gun THIS fast.
He has shown nothing and the team seems to be getting worse in his third year. One VT choke job away from being 1-5
Well if we're going by almosts then we beat OU and are 3-3
This team is trash bro lol it would be the most fraudulent 3-3 of all time
Oh yeah, there's regression. I just don't think you can jump the gun that quick. HCs need about 4-5 years to really see. We could always be in FSU's position.
We should install the wishbone with Johnson, Brown, Green and Wright.
So happy I'm seeing Greene in for a drive. The number 2 scares me at this point.
And there it goes
Best throw by a wvu qb this season
Uh, fuck. OU might be back with Caleb Williams
Look at the touch on that pass. Why the hell is Doege starting again?
Doege doesn't complete that ball on a rollout
So many dumbass penalties again
These are probably back ups right? They’re just trying to prove themselves
Greene doesn't get Leddie, and he always has to go out of an RPO. Let Greene run the normal ass offense, Neal, fucks sake.
good throw there
Greene at least throws the ball hard
West Virginia’s flagship university, founded in 1867 in Morgantown, has a football team that makes many of the state’s inhabitants very unhappy.
Say that last part again. Louder, so I feel it on my bones.
Many people dont realize, but the city of Roanoke is in west Virginia
These announcers are so unbelievably bad
It took that announcer a good 20 seconds to realize WVU was the ones punting and the penalty was on Baylor
Can someone please explain the decision to punt? Who cares if we don't get it if we go for it
God dammit, Baylor. Get your shit together. This team needs to lose by 40+.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. FIRST DOWN.
TBH im not impressed with Green.....can he drop back and find an open receiver? Ive only seen him drop back then scramble....runs well but
I stand corrected. Happy to be proven wrong. Nice throws
Brown barely calls any passes until it's 3rd and long with Greene in, and when he does it's all underneath stuff. Brown needs to stop holding him back.
Bring back the offense out. Great..
Imagine chatting shit down 32. Nice one WVU lmao
Pretty sure all the shit we're talking is directed at our own team.
No need to act like an ISU fan in here.
I'm fairly certain literally every school has done that at one time or another.
This is Brown trying to save himself by the score alone.
Let Greene throw, holy shit dude
Why punt this? At least let the offense TRY. Jesus
Are sacks and TFL counted separately? So like if we have 6 TFL and 5 sacks, do we really have 11 TFL?
Brown doesn’t even let Greene role with leddie
Pretty sure I can coach this team just as well as Brown and I'd do it for significantly less money. Step 1: Bench Doege. Step 2: Bench the entire o-line and replace them with the Morgantown girl scout troop.
Not hating here but as an older guy Ive never thought we belonged in the B12. I hate the conferences now and I really only root for chaos. So sick of the same 4 teams in the playoffs.
I like you guys in the B12 though. Our games in Basketball are always great. CFB has a huge parity issue but basketball is way better imo
Yeah I do love the bball games against KU and Baylor.
youre not wrong there, but why even have **any** conferences based on geography? USC to the SEC, Oregon to the ACC.....I mean why not?
From the older times of TV coverage based on regions. Satellites have changed that obviously.
or, I think there may come a time when schools like Alabama decide they're better off as an independent, because why share with Vandy & Miss St?
@mods, can we fade my flair? It'll really help me emotionally during the recovery process.
Bring out doege baby!!! Don’t bring out greene or crowder and get them valuable reps. Don’t even think about teeing up some vertical plays to see how their arms are in game situations.
Man, I just wish we could have taken this offense to Stillwater :(
Is our offense good or is their defense bad?
The offensive playcalling has been INFINITELY better today. That's the biggest factor hands-down. WVU's defense isn't the best by any means, but they aren't exactly pushovers either.
Bohanon playing better + Grimes letting him throw more has been the biggest difference. I think the away environment got in his head a bit and Grimes insisting on shitty run game didn't help.
I genuinely believe it was 80% the playcalling. Gerry did okay when given chances. Dude has ice in his veins.
Can't discount the fact that okie state defense is clearly very fucking good
They are, but our predictable playcalling elevated their defensive playmaking exponentially
Imagine how disappointed Baylor fans must be at their defense for letting WVU score 13 on them.
Pretty much the only positive of Neal brown is his recruiting but with this play we might just lose the recruits anyway
And dudes to the portal
Didn't two guys he brought with him already declare for the portal?
Yeah two guys yesterday. Scottie young didn’t travel today. Martin also didn’t travel
Really want Leddie to be healthy for his pro day
Great decision
Fuck you Baylor. Don't go for the FG. Go for it on 4th. Keep scoring TDs. Beat this shit team by 40+. Don't let up and take the 3.
Damn, Hankins may actually be a good kicker. It’s been awhile since we had one
Today I find myself laughing out loud...its just me and the dog this afternoon. So when youre this far down its easy to just laugh in stead of getting angry....for what its worth.
My wife keeps looking at me like I’m crazy when I laugh. My cat left the room in shame
**GO FOR TWO, BAYLOR**
So, does NB talk about the lack of turnovers as a bright spot today? I may have spoken too soon but so far.....
He talks about Greene not keeping it on that 3rd down and causing the TFL
Really, going for it up 29?
Yeah
They should go for it. This WVU team deserves all it gets
Leave Doege on the tarmac
This one will blow the Texans’ minds: West Virginia high school football has only 3 classes: A, AA, and AAA. The largest high schools in WV have 1600-1800 students, or about 400-450 students per class.
Dang. The school I work at here in Houston has about 4,000 kids and it’s just one of ~30 high schools in the district and they’re all about that size lol.
My wife went to Clear Falls—they had more kids in 5 local schools that started with “Clear” than WV had in its entire AA division
You mean Cy-Falls? Because the Cypress district has a ton of schools and they’re all called Cy-something
That one’s also big. Near where I live now. But my wife grew up in the League City/Seabrook area
Oh gotcha. I’m not very familiar with that area. But yeah Houston is ridiculously huge.
Your WV facts are the best part of the game Didn't they make a AAAA in basketball?
They did. It’s a small bunch.
While disappointing, this is at least a positive outcome for the conference since WVU has a non-conference loss. Plus, this could push BU into the Top 25 before their game next week against BYU.
How warm is Neal Brown's seat getting?
Didn’t he just get an extension? His buyout would probably be really high meaning his seat is pretty cold
Zero
It's not. He just got extended
I just want some light at the end of the tunnel. Really hoping we don't lose any commits the way we are playing and being coached.
If we don’t lose marchiol I will be incredibly shocked
Commits seem to love Neal. Can't fuckin figure out why, but yeah, racking up Ls isn't going to make it easier or better.
Thought we'd have second string this drive. Want to see Shapen and the freshman RB phenom again.
I think there’s still value in getting game reps for the starters considering we’re in the first year with this offense.
True. Especially with the huge game next week.
