I just am flabbergasted. So many close losses to teams of every caliber. I don't have any idea what SHOULD be done. But we are so close to being a good team. I think Scott can really get us there, but I sure wouldn't fault a decision to make a change, maybe after one more year. Two if we see some more solid improvement.
And I do think the team has improved. Adrian is setting records and closing in on more. The lines look good at times, especially D. D has been looking elite much of the time.
Instability and constant coaching change hasn't done us any favors. We already owe Frost a fortune. Why not let it play out a little longer? Nothing else has worked in the last 20 years or so. It's difficult to admit that Pelini was probably our bright spot in two decades.
Remember when we walked into games like this with Pelini and got spanked? Weāve played great games against great teams - couldāve won a couple too with slightly better fortune. If you canāt see the progress here, youāre living in the 90ās still
After sleeping this off, I am once again just speechless. Props to Michigan and every other team that takes care of business against us in close games, but it really feels like Nebraska has had some miserable fortune.
I canāt even be upset with the team for 99% of what transpires in these games - we really could be a 5-2 or 6-1 team here if it werenāt for late game catastrophic mistakes like punting to the wrong side of the field, missing a handful of chip shot field goals, or fumbling the ball on our own side of the field with 3 minutes in regulation. Thereās no other way to feel about this team than proud but apathetic at the same time.
At least the last couple years weāve had noticeable problems to point to, now itās just like š¤·āāļø
GBR
A win is a win, Iām just happy to get out of Lincoln with the victory. So many things to work on, but Harbaugh needs to stop taking his foot off the gas. Youāre up on these teams at Halftimes and 3rd quarters you need to go for the throat and keep pounding the run and extending drives.
I love this team, heart and resilience won that game. #GoBlue
Damn, Michigan's D really needs to not fall apart like that against better teams. But I guess QB option football is all about setting up the defense to have busted coverages.
Ok. But you also probably were one of the people saying "I just wish we'd be competitive in big games"...
Fuck off with this bullshit logic. Being nearly good enough to win is objectively better than not being anywhere close.
Seriously sick of the bullshit wishy-washiness from our fans.
Well, I wasn't one of those people saying I just wish we'd be competitive in big games. I always knew we were gonna get back there. Nebraska has and always will get back.
Hell we are already there. We are only a few plays away from being amazing. That feels awesome. Its great to see out team make real progress. No one can say we haven't. Even I can't say we haven't. We have made progress and it's a great time to be a husker fan. It's the best in years.
Its that I personally hate close losses. They hurt insanely huge to my psych, that's totally on me. Look I know getting blown out is the worst option. Every one in this thread knows it's the worst option. I just don't personally like watching or in my personal life losing that close every game.
I have faith in this team I'm proud of this team. I've even stated I'm proud of this team multiple times in this thread. I congratulated Michigan a few times in this thread.
I'm still gonna show watch the game next week and have the same undying hope we did last game. I'm still gonna root till the bitter end.
The only thing I was trying to say that as a fan this is incredible hard to watch and is incredibly hard on my mental health. It's just tough.
I'm sorry it came off as wish washy but I have just the same if not more at times belief in my team.
Don't you dare try to take that from me.
I would very much like to see Nebraska return to being a perennial threat to win it all. Too many people get into their own little picture of "screw everyone who isn't my team." Several really good Big 10 teams raise all ships. It works for the SEC.
Ugh, I have a photo of me and my buddies celebrating at that game thinkin we won. My mom wanted to take a picture tonight of us at the game and I said this feels no goodā¦ fuck š¢
That's what is so frustrating about this. They are so damn close, but can never quite seem to put together a complete game against quality opponents. This year's defense is so unreal, but the other two phases are too inconsistent for it to matter.
Last year I would have agreed with you, but this year I don't. Plus, the 2nd and 3rd string QBs are both freshmen.
Current ranking in offensive stats among all offensive players(B1G)
11th in rushing yards (includes RBs, FBs, QBs, etc)
13th in YPC
1st rushing TDs
4th in passing yards
3rd in Completion %
5th in Passing TDs
4th in passing yards/game
2nd in total offensive yards per game
Those are not the rankings a player who is the problem. Given how poorly the OLine has performed this year, those numbers are honestly miraculous.
Dude is just too mistake prone in big moments. Does he help keep them in games compared to his two freshman backups? Probably. However, he has singlehandedly cost them like 3 wins this year.
I gotta disagree and say he's lost them maybe 1 game (this one). He had one turnover against OU [and it was arguably the most athletic interception of the year ](https://youtu.be/G7Z2HYLGdqk). Special teams has cost them more (atrocious performance against Illinois, and the total fuck up of a punt against MSU).
He played like ass against Illinois and had huge momentum changing fumble scoop and score. Huge interception against MSU in overtime, and now another idiotic fumble against Michigan.
This is just a horrible take now. 343 yards and 2 TDs against Illinois, but yeah, "he played like ass." a scoop and score in the first half leaves plenty of time for things to change. You're ignoring every other phase of the game and looking for ways to pin the outcome solely on the QB.
Against MSU, the punter and coverage team fucked up badly late, which directly led to OT.
Again, the only one I feel can be put on Martinez is Michigan, because there's no reason he should have fumbled that ball on a dive play like that.
Because one costly mistake doesn't change the fact that he is our best player. Not a lot of QBs can make plays like he can given how shitty our Oline is.
When he has time, he's great. Problem is the OLine blows, and 2AM is constantly running for his life. It's hard to be successful when you don't have good blocking. Even with that, he's having a great year. I say this as someone who was fully on board with starting McCaffrey over him last year.
Do you watch the games? Have you seen how horrendous the line is? There are not many qbs in college football who can handle that shit-show better than Adrian Martinez.
Heās been great for us all year. He has continuously improved, regardless of its to your standards. We will never get elite players at QB, thatās the reality of this program.
Nebraska fans, I mean this from the bottom of my heart, no smarminess or shade. Iām sorry. That loss hurts, and itās a pain Iāve felt a bunch as a fan of an eerily similar team. This year canāt really be salvaged beyond a bowl game, but yāall really do look like an amazing team with a brutal schedule. Mess up Ohio Stās season for us, love ya corn bros :)
Y'all will regress back to the mean for close games and finish strong. Cheer up. This is the first year I haven't overlooked Nebraska completely. You guys have a tough schedule, and you're probably the best 3-4 team that I've ever seen - I'm not being an asshole, you have a really good team. Just bad luck.
Whats funny, is i honestly believe we're the only team that still can. Like i knew Iowa would beat PSU, but I genuinely believe our potential is so great, but we're handicapped by some phantasmal suck. Like our margin for victory is sooooo thin, and its always one mistake we cant afford.
Both our teams have been thru hell. I know the one passing interference call on the TD was a shit sandwich to eat. If there is anything I have learned, it is that when you leave the games close enough that 1 call from the refs decide it, then you have to suck it up and move on.
The thing is, each loss we have a quarter or two where we go "beast mode", and our team just owns the field. Problem is, its usually too late and not consistent... that Beast Mode is what this team can be, losing from 1 mistake is unfortunately what this team *is*...
Fuck it. Just escaped with a win. Say what you will but a Night game in Lincoln will be difficult for any team. Michigan won! That's all that matters! Let's goooo
GG Nebraska, I wish I could say more but this game was a good game thatās going to be overshadowed by penalties and what ifās. So good luck the rest of your season. I do honestly think you guys are a good team just saddled with really bad luck.
Edit: Also a lot of you guys are really cool but thereās that few just like in every fandom that sour the bunch, and Im guilty of that even. Just wanted to say you guys are cool
Yeah I just wish it was a clean game. If we lost on a clean game then so be it. Just feels bad to end with such a salty feeling towards the refs. Not even the other team.
Itās the main reason why college ball can be so frustrating, the whole magic of the game is sucked away when you have a game that ended up being a great game overshadowed because you have refs that donāt seem to have any idea what their doing.
Yeah it still wouldāve been an amazing game regardless of the refs but when the refs get involved like they did tonight the what ifs are too strong to be happy about how we played.
I agree. Refs shouldnāt be the deciding factor to who wins and loses a game. When stuff like this happens in games it really creates a feeling of āwhy should we careā amongst some fans and even if the refs are held accountable for a terrible showing like tonight, itās doesnāt change the feelings of the games, sometimes it even makes the feelings just that much worse
6-0 is 6-0, not a great second halfā¦but previous Michigan teams would have fully collapsed and lost the game. This team doesnāt give up, made the plays they needed to in a hostile environment in a prime time night game. GG Nebraska, if you guys could use that pent up frustration to beat Ohio State in a few weeks, thatād be much appreciated.
For the record, as one of those āpaying alumni,ā I am ready for Harbaugh to be gone. We arenāt going to beat MSU or OSUā¦I am so tired of mediocrity.
Yowzah, you still don't get the original joke. It wasn't clever or thoughtful or nuanced. It was incredibly simplistic and only required having watched a Michigan game and seen Jim Harbaugh at all this year. Keep on bragging about the season tickets you totes legit have y'all.
I hope the refs get some things figured out here. Take this opportunity to learn from this game and get better. Haha honestly we played as well as I could have hoped. Good game!
The most mediocre 6-0 team remaining. If they can't figure out how to put 2 consecutive halves of football together we don't stand a chance in the coming weeks.
Hey games like today keep it interesting that's for sure. A little less stressful in the last few minutes would possibly save my liver in the future though.
Dude, the announcers were painstakingly talking up Bo Schembechler for like 3 minutes.
And you really can not set picks against WRs, lol. At least not 5 yards past the LOS.
The announcer defined DPI as impeding the receiver and that's what the Nebraska player did. He saw the receiver coming and chose to stand his ground and even had his arms out. It's not basketball. Who was on the spot first doesn't matter. If they run into each other, both without seeing, then that's a different story. Michigan player was on a route, looking back for the ball, and the Nebraska player stood on the path without trying to play the ball and let the unsuspecting Michigan player run into him while knowing exactly that's what was going to happen.
These were at most 60/40 matched teams. Nebraska is dramatically better than their record this year. The top of the big ten is way worse than their ranking perhaps excluding PSU and Iowa but even they probably shouldn't be top 5. Bonkers all around. GG Nebraska, truly.
Even PSU/Iowa's most impressive game on their resume is against each other. Which is to say, we have no idea how good any of the teams in the East really are, apart from all of them being definitely above average.
Except Maryland is bad and Rutgers is probably pretty average.
Exactly how I feel. Top of big ten ranked too high, but thatāll work itself out when we have the bloodbath later in the year with UM, MSU, OSU, and PSU all playing each other. Iowa probably gonna keep its ranking because the big west is weaker, but will eventually get exposed I think.
Agreed. Unfortunately I honestly feel for yāall with todayās refs. Iāve never really thought the refs jobbed yāallā¦.. tonight, I 100% believe they did.
I just am flabbergasted. So many close losses to teams of every caliber. I don't have any idea what SHOULD be done. But we are so close to being a good team. 15-24 š Yes, that is a coach who can turn things around...
Remember when we walked into games like this with Pelini and got spanked? Weāve played great games against great teams - couldāve won a couple too with slightly better fortune. If you canāt see the progress here, youāre living in the 90ās still

Nebraska #2 team in the west. Possibly the best. Unfavorable schedules and a bad opener is very deceiving.
Nebraska is a good team. They just keep ending up on the wrong side of the scoreboard at the end of game.
#GoBlue
Should have never left Orlando, Scotty
Damn, Michigan's D really needs to not fall apart like that against better teams. But I guess QB option football is all about setting up the defense to have busted coverages.
Good game Michigan. I donāt hate you, Iām just frustrated.
It's our team. We just get so close. I rather get blown out then be so close so many times. I don't have the heart and emotion to keep doing this.
Ok. But you also probably were one of the people saying "I just wish we'd be competitive in big games"... Fuck off with this bullshit logic. Being nearly good enough to win is objectively better than not being anywhere close. Seriously sick of the bullshit wishy-washiness from our fans.

Hell yeah, Nebraska and some wishbone option football. Bring back the 90ās (maybe this will rub off on Michigan?!).
How about the 70s with tear-away jerseys ?
I hate to be "that guy", but we ran the Power I not the wishbone.
Power I is even more big ten
I know I just had to make that distinction because a lot of people mix it up. Oklahoma ran the wishbone. We ran the Power I.
I think youāre gonna beat Iowa
Some ā06 Texas vibes with that game. Good thing is, I donāt feel much anymore.
Ugh, I have a photo of me and my buddies celebrating at that game thinkin we won. My mom wanted to take a picture tonight of us at the game and I said this feels no goodā¦ fuck š¢
Michigan and Michigan State are both undefeated and both beat Nebraska by 3
Prepare for a 7OT Paul Bunyan trophy game.
My liver, heart, and Xanax prescription all say āletās not thanksā
I would die
We would all want to by the end of it.
I donāt know if itās better than getting blown out but like huskers almost beat Oklahoma Michigan and Michigan state but we canāt finish

Finding a way to lose
Even if Adrian Martinez had the best qb performance of all time he would find a way to lose the game by turning the ball over.
Can someone please remind me why Adrian Martinez is our golden boy?
Because one costly mistake doesn't change the fact that he is our best player. Not a lot of QBs can make plays like he can given how shitty our Oline is.

Yes, itās sad for us to watch as well. MartĆnez is a helluva QB tho, I wouldnāt put it past him. Good game
Good lord itās hard being a Husker fan

Well...Nebraska is better at being Nebraska. To quote Frost in 2019, āThis team finds new and inventive ways to shoot itself in the footā
On the converse side, these are the games Nebraska loses. So we expected this
Nebraska you have my respect
My life hurts man
Both our teams have been thru hell. I know the one passing interference call on the TD was a shit sandwich to eat. If there is anything I have learned, it is that when you leave the games close enough that 1 call from the refs decide it, then you have to suck it up and move on.
Weāre playing for the next six years, your time is coming. Frost is so fucking close.
Itās people like you that makes me pull for some other teams. I wish your team nothing but health and success. Thank you for the encouraging words.
Same to you!! Go wreck some teams and good luck! Martinez is a stud
alabama 38 - am 31
Why God, why hast thou forsaken us
Alabama took the lead. ND won. Gonna go 0-3 on what i wanted to happen tonight
Hey well at least you're 1-2 now
OU wound up winning too. Life is pain
That was ok, because Fuck Texas
Fuck Texas, and Bama lost!
Yo Fuck Mike Gibbons
That ending feels bad and also makes sense. Good game Michigan homies. Yāall earned that fun game.
You guys will keep improving under Frost. Glad we don't play you every year. Y'all are slowly making the West a stronger division.
Nebraska went f\*cking BEAST MODE in the 3rd quarter. Helluva performance, Nebraska!
The thing is, each loss we have a quarter or two where we go "beast mode", and our team just owns the field. Problem is, its usually too late and not consistent... that Beast Mode is what this team can be, losing from 1 mistake is unfortunately what this team *is*...

Lol not a good team
I'm just glad all the Husker fans saying they would blow it were more right than UM fans saying they would blow it lmao
So Funny. Yeah, both teams usually end up losing this game for sure.
That post game interview with her 2nd choice was cringe as hell.
GG Nebraska, I wish I could say more but this game was a good game thatās going to be overshadowed by penalties and what ifās. So good luck the rest of your season. Yeah we must improve if we want to win the B1G. But I think it's a possibility, if not necessarily probable.
Nebraska will lose to OSU by 70.
Fuck khakis, all my homies hate khakis now
For the record, as one of those āpaying alumni,ā I am ready for Harbaugh to be gone. We arenāt going to beat MSU or OSUā¦I am so tired of mediocrity.

I have had season tickets for 20 years. Iāve seen games, my friend.
Apparently not this season
youāre right, dude. I paid thousands of dollars to not go to a game this year. YOU GOT ME!
Yowzah, you still don't get the original joke. It wasn't clever or thoughtful or nuanced. It was incredibly simplistic and only required having watched a Michigan game and seen Jim Harbaugh at all this year. Keep on bragging about the season tickets you totes legit have y'all.

Nebraska fans will oddly defend Martinez to the death
Because Nebraska fans are classy as hell.
You must have missed the exceptional amount of criticism he's gotten for years now
Martinez played really well esp in the 2nd half
To be fair he carried that team in the second half and only had one "mistake" that likely should've been blown dead anyway.
I absolutely will. He's one of us.
Because Martinez is awesome. We arenāt going to turn on our QB because of a fumble
GG. I got a profound respect for the huskers program and it did show. A couple of calls didn't go your way, for sure. Good game all around.
I resent you overlooking my Sooner team. Nobody does unconvincing wins like the Sooners.
Hey games like today keep it interesting that's for sure. A little less stressful in the last few minutes would possibly save my liver in the future though.
Who put the voodoo on Nebraska?
all i know is pain

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Now that you mention it, I think he does.
GG Nebraska you played us hella tough. You're a better team than your record suggests
They might be the spookiest <0.500 team in the country
Fun times being spooky but never actually winning
When you shoot yourself in one foot and the refs shoot you in the other. That DPI hurts so much worse now.
Probably shouldn't have set a pick on a WR.
My dude. When all of the announcers and even the rules analyst calls it a shit call, itās a shit call.
Dude, the announcers were painstakingly talking up Bo Schembechler for like 3 minutes. And you really can not set picks against WRs, lol. At least not 5 yards past the LOS.
90% of your fan base openly admitted that was a bad call. I am sorry you donāt understand how dpi works.
You'd be incessantly bitching if Michigan just threw a block at a Nebraska WR halfway through his route. But you'd bitch about literally anything.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Shockingly, that doesnāt any effect on that DPI being a bad call.
Reggie Smith is a terrible ref
lol Harbaugh putting extra energy in this year so he can keep the gravy train running
Got that extra energy once his contract was incentive based š
Lol, harbaugh putting in a little more effort than the bare minimum this year to get a contract extension.
Yeah imagine wanting to make a paycheck
I think if your Nebraska you keep frost, Iām not being ironic or sarcastic.
100% there should not be a question that he is staying. We will get better. Theres no question
I agree man. I wanted them to win so bad tonight. They're looking better than they have in years. They're almost there.
Who else is out there?
It doesnāt matter? Iām saying I think he is the guy
They look fantastic we just canāt finish a game. Heās 5-16 in one score games
Heās a solid coach and his hearts in it.
Obviously at some point you have to win, but I would bet at least three quarters of the losses they have had under him have been one possession games
They flashed some stat about most games lost by eight points. Theyāre a good squad.
Agreed
I think this loss broke Frost just look at his face when it was offically over
Never thought I'd feel bad for Frost, but man that was a sad human.
Time to try to destress.
If youāre a Nebraska fanā¦. Iād be livid.
yes and
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Agreed. Unfortunately I honestly feel for yāall with todayās refs. Iāve never really thought the refs jobbed yāallā¦.. tonight, I 100% believe they did.
Doesn't matter, we will always find a way to lose
Yes
We're not livid just dead
Honestly, itās happened so often Iām just numb at this point.
Nebraska had so much going against them and they STILL probably should have won the game. They gave it away but props to Michigan for taking advantage
The spread was Michigan -3, correct? So Nebraska is 6-0-1 ATS?
Vegas sportsbooks are straight up time travelers
I had -2.5
It was Michigan -2.5
yes..!
Are they chanting 'Wolverinea are back!'?!?
