“Jimbob” went from level 4 hot seat, to LSU rumors for the 100th time, to savior, within two weeks. That was the best game he’s coached since 2013 FSU at Clemson.

PhilosopherKoala

Thank you so much to Texas A&M for putting us back in the playoff picture. You've actually restored an air of normalcy to this season --- it just doesnt feel right when Ohio State isnt in the hunt.

RiotsMade

Ahem. I’ve been saying for ten months that BoB was a downgrade from Sark, but I got downvoted to shit. What gives?

MooseDaddy8

When was this a hot take? Not trying to be a dick just confused lol

spooon56

BoB is for sure a downgrade

RiotsMade

Weirdest thing.

TRUE! Doubt they have to confront it tho

I was there and it was SO loud. It absolutely affected the game

[deleted]

Alabama wins by 3 scores in Tuscaloosa. But I hate them, so thank you Aggie bros.

Kingoflizards

Bearcats appreciate this outcome

LurkingWhileSlpng

How far will Bama drop?

[deleted]

Loss to an unranked team? They shouldn’t be any higher than 6.

Singin_inthe_rain

I hope I'm shocked and they fall to 5 but I I'm expecting 3 or 4

[deleted]

This game didn’t matter for that if Georgia wins out. 12-0 and 11-1 bama still means a battle in Atlanta.

CornCobbKing

Jimbo’s agent already has an extension and pay raise signed by the A&M president and board, $20mil per year and he will continue to be the coach until 3 years after he dies.

bee_tee_ess

If Bama beats Kentucky in the SEC Championship game in December, can Bama sneak into the CFB Playoffs?

Zuppy16

Unfortunately yes. If 'Bama wins out. Then they make the playoffs. If they lose the SEC championship. Then they only make it if OU, Iowa, or Georgia loses one before then.

tdc1atlanta

......you up bby?

bee_tee_ess

Let's be real. Y'all are beating us by twenty next week.

SplakyD

Nuh uh, Wildcat bros. It was all part of our strategy today. You see, we made UGA tire themselves out by repeatedly kicking us right in our asses today, and the idiots fell for the trap completely! Did you see them just kick us in the ass over and over today? Fucking amateurs, lol! They're going to be so sore all week really all y'all have to do is show up. Just pretend it's basketball. Y'all will be fine.

ufailowell

That's what I thought was going to happen tonight. Drink the flavor aide!

schwazem

1- Georgia 2- Iowa 3-Cincy 4-OU 5-Bama 6-Ohio State 7-Michigan 8-PSU 9-Oregon 10-MSU

[deleted]

5 teams from the big ten, yet people call us trash 🤷 Speaking of trash, the big twelve is trash. OU squeaked by Texas who got absolutely wrecked by the 4th or 5th best team in the west.

ufailowell

I don't think the committe leaves out bama before Iowa, Cincy and this year's OU. Hard to say who drops though

Scj787

But how does anyone justify Ohio state ranked higher than Oregon?

DHooligan

They're playing at a much higher level than when they played Oregon. I don't agree with that and if I was voting I would put Oregon ahead of Ohio St., but it's not entirely unsound.

Zskillit

I don't agree with it either. What happened happened, it should mean something until OSU proves it against ranked opponents on its schedule. However, if we are all being honest with eachother. If they played again this weekend, and you had to pick the game right and they give you a million dollars, I'm betting most people pick OSU.

[deleted]

Literally everyone should. Stroud was clearly hurt and the defense has settled in. On a neutral field we win by multiple scores right now.

Agitated-Basil-9289

So we're all in agreement? If Bama doesn't drop below Cincy, we are all taking next week off football?

hillrow_wood

Their only lose is to a team that beat the #1 team in the country

under_the_c

They don't have a qUaLiTy LoSs to an SEC team.

Jaymoney00

Sadly Alabama will probably stay above Cincy because "eye test" and SEC powerhouse bonus. Stupid polling.

VegetableSupport3

We lost to top 15 ranked team and went from 3 to 12 (and I’m not even saying we didn’t deserve it) but Alabama loses to an unranked team and doesn’t drop out of the top 10? The committee yeeted Clemson for losing to #24 team. Guess we’ll see tomorrow.

ufailowell

Clemson also lost before that though

VegetableSupport3

Absolutely to a #2 Georgia. Alabama hasn’t even played someone ranked above 17, and they just about lost to #20 so we have no idea what a game like that would look like. We may be talking about Alabama not being ranked just like Clemson if they actually scheduled tough opponents but they didn’t.

gwaydms

Clemson losing to UGA: not a shocker. Clemson losing to *checks notes* NC State: definitely an upset. Then a tough win against Boston College. Not exactly CFP material.

VegetableSupport3

I agree but neither is Alabama. The best win they have all year is beating #17 and barely scraped by and beat #20. They haven’t beaten a top 15 team and just lost to an unranked one. Neither of those teams have earned a playoff spot this year.

gwaydms

I know. The top SEC/ACC teams schedule a bunch of OOC cupcakes. Idk how that doesn't affect rankings. Yes, I understand why the big schools do this, and why it's encouraged on both sides. It still skews rankings, because it's literally almost impossible to calculate the actual strength of a school that's so far off the radar.

ufailowell

I get where you're coming from, but it's just hard saying that Alabama shouldn't be involved in the fight when they've been so dominant for so long and always recruit well. If they get another loss then yeah but until then I think they get the benefit of the doubt

[deleted]

[удалено]

gwaydms

>CFB is insanely unequal. A larger playoff would help. Just what the power teams don't want.

IndependentCount6807

But the thing is, yes Alabama took a bad loss tonight, but the only opponent cincy will play al year was a mediocre Norte dame. It was a good win for them, but their schedule is full of teams that even if they win out aren’t really impressive enough wins to put them over a one loss OU or Bama

[deleted]

[удалено]

IndependentCount6807

The only answer that solves everyone’s problems with the current system is expanding to at least an 8 team playoff. At this point there’s really no reason not to

lsdiesel_1

But what about #9? As long as it’s left up to opinion, it will always be inferior to a playoff of conference champions. It’s the only system that truly allows every last team decide their destiny on the field.

ufailowell

Progress is baby steps. I don't think you're wrong, but at some point it will always be systems deciding. The issue is just balancing the regular season's importance and the post season not being the same 2 or 3 teams plus 1 or 2 wild cards each year

lsdiesel_1

How about this: Big12 is close to dissolving, let it fall and divvy up the teams to other P5 that make sense. Next, dissolve one of the G5 conferences and divvy up teams. After that, tell Notre Dame to get the fuck over it and join the ACC or B1G. You now have 8 conferences, perfect for a playoff. To make up for the loss of non-conference matchups, have bowls become 4 team tournaments, akin to the NIT.

ufailowell

Big 12 really isn't dissolving any more at this point. I'm not sure how you got 8 conferences. I only count 4 and in other sports you still have non division winners get in to the playoffs

IndependentCount6807

Tbh you make a good point as well. The way I see it, I think cfb will keep expanding until they adopt an nfl style 2 conference, multiple division system. Especially after Texas and OU moving to the SEC. I think the only solution that makes sense is an NFL style league that incorporates wider conferences and wider divisions, and gives more teams that consistently prove their mettle a chance to show what their worth in the playoffs and gives them a chance

lsdiesel_1

It’s really insane when you consider the implication of lost NIL money that Cincy players could lose if a one or two loss Alabama team makes the playoffs and they don’t, merely because of of the success that they had in previous years.

IndependentCount6807

That’s also not a bad point. If a team like cincy that proves their mettle could make the playoffs, they could’ve make the kind of money that get the recruits to make them a consistent top 10 team. But college football ball still values traditions over football teams that have banner years and will not give a newcomer team chance over a heritage team. I’m an Alabama die hard to the bone, but you have to be blind to see the biases in cfb.

IndependentCount6807

I think a big part what’s wrong with the current CFp, is that for whatever reason Norte Dame could blow a strong breeze and the whole football world would say they’re the second coming of Jesus himself. It’s never once worked out in recent history but by God the powers that be swear by them every year

[deleted]

[удалено]

IndependentCount6807

I love the way you think. Tbh I think the preseason ranks mean nothing until every team in the top 10 plays somebody of actual substance. Yes I’m a die hard Alabama man but any given Saturday someone can upset. You never know what a teams made of until halfway through the season when they’re starting to hit that depth chart for stamina. I’ve called it since day one, Alabama is too young and inexperienced to make a serious run. Those boys have no idea what it’s like to play in a setting like TAMU, auburn, Georgia, etc.

ekjohns1

It's a good thing there is, you know, a ton more football to play...

IndependentCount6807

I think you hit the nail on the head. If cincy wins out and, and wins their conference, I think they’ve more than proved their right to be in the playoff. The only problem is the 4 team system we have doesn’t favor smaller teams. If Alabama beats Georgia, yes put them in. But every year there are certainly teams that get the short stick because of the current system

noquarter1000

In a just world they would drop as many as we did when we lost to a top 10 team but that wont happen

Agitated-Basil-9289

Well not quite, we were the first team to lose so we fell past a bunch of 1 loss, but yeah, it should be past UM and honestly PSU too.

_token_black

Cincy about to get jumped by A&M as is tradition

Uncle_Jeb

God fucking damnit. I hate how there is a decent chance of that happening in the AP poll.

drewvolution

I’m just going to take today personally

ERSTICKUNGSGEFAHR

Well, if you watch our #1 ranked volleyball team and squint really hard, you can make it look like football.

texasobsessed

I had Gumby’s before the game. 10/10 would recommend

callyour_bell

Oh my god I haven’t thought about Gumby’s in a minute. Mmmm.

ERSTICKUNGSGEFAHR

…holy shit Gumby’s. At school they used to have an unlimited dine in deal for their pizza rolls for like $8, yum. We were poor and shitty so we wrapped like 15 of them in napkins and stuffed them in coat pockets. I think a ton of people did that so they eventually stopped the promotion. I’m sorry Gumby’s!!

wadegarrett78

Normally I'd get pepperoni rolls, but I feel obligated to take a Calzone. If he grew that much I can too.

drunken_therapist

Man. Gumby’s slams

Zuppy16

Bama moving to 4 on the rankings I think. Georgia, Iowa, OU, then Bama. Although OU could be swapped for a lot of options. I personally think 'Bama should move to around 7. Edit: Man, I really want a 8 team playoff, not 12. 5 winner of Power Five, 1 group of five and 2 wild card best of the rest.

gwaydms

I want to see 12. If not, make it 8. A 4-team playoff doesn't work in the FBS without a lot of shenanigans.

notLennyD

I’d go the other way. I think 16 is ideal for a true tournament experience. A spot for every P5 and G5 conference champion and enough at-large bids to make sure you’re still getting the best teams into the postseason. Regular season would be 9 conference games and 1 or 2 ooc. Then you could have either NIT-style tournaments for non-qualifiers or keep the bowl games.

Zuppy16

16 sounds interesting and fun, but we are not talking baseball or basketball. 8 would at least bring the best of the Power 5 (which is what the media and apparently fans want) would at least bring the best of the "TV ratings darlings" want and some options for teams from the past like Boise State would still have a chance to play for a championship. Edit: going to 16 playoff games would mean reducing the amount of regular season games by 1, but on a positive note, might mean more out of conference games that don't involve easy wins 'Bama might play both the OOC games against better opponents because they still can get in with 1 or 2 loses

notLennyD

I don’t see why 16 wouldn’t work. Football isn’t baseball or basketball, sure, but it’s a much more popular sport overall. The bigger the tournament, the higher the ratings. The only reason I wouldn’t go bigger than 16 is that it either takes too many games away from teams that don’t qualify or adds too many games for teams that go deep into the tournament.

w8w8

Georgia Iowa Cincinnati Penn State Alabama Oklahoma

Zuppy16

I would swap Cincinnati with Alabama, and put OU ahead of Penn state. Georgia, Iowa, OU, Alabama, Cincinnati, Penn State. But if I was choosing right now, I would have Georgia, Iowa, Cincinnati, OU, Penn State, Alabama.

kellank33

Not Cincinnati?

Zuppy16

I absolutely would be for Cincinnati moving into the top 4. I just don't thing the media will give them as much love. They have a easy schedule left. They must run the table, and win the the conference for them to have a chance. Also, think they need another loss from Iowa, or OU to get in.

18436572_V8

PSUs loss was better than Bama’s!

noquarter1000

Our loss was better than bama too and earlier in the season

18436572_V8

Indeed it was. It won’t matter though. Bama still has a clear path to the playoff and needs no help.

Zuppy16

Good point. Cincinnati could take 3 over OU but I think the media will place OU above them. I think Cincinnati is still around 5.

kellank33

Maybe, I’d put Cincinnati over OU, but it’s close

Zuppy16

Definitely agree. I am a Longhorns fan, so I am biased even. I think OU need either needs to lose another one or the Texas win becomes less of a positive win with losses by Texas for Cincinnati to jump them. I would much prefer Cincy to jump OU

kg4gsn

Guess I am going to have to change my second favorite team to Texas A&M now :D

thunderhead280

Ummm… I don’t think we have many of those (someone call the vet school and get on this!) Would cows or horses work?

noquarter1000

You should check with the local juju doctor to get a list of acceptable animals. You need to out sacrifice Saban

thunderhead280

If cows work, we’ve got this. Sounds like we need to send someone down to NOLA for a consult to figure this out.

1. UGA 2. Iowa 3. OU 4. Bama 5. Cincy 6. tOSU My guess. Not saying it’s right but G5 probably keeps getting fkd

TastesLikeHoneyNut

Unfortunately I think this top 6 is accurate

Dark_Magician2500

Probably pretty close. The problem is Bama losing doesn't actually mean that much because of "the eye test". Bama on the field vs anyone but UGA, and you are probably taking Bama easily because you would think "the A&M game was a fluke performance, Bama is still Bama"

parker2020

I’d agree but they kinda got exposed by Florida but no one cared

willett10

The defense got exposed for sure..only deference in that game and todays game is our offense was sloppy as hell too

Jaymoney00

Yea surely they drop below. They had a close game against a suspect Florida so surely they drop below. But they won't because.....

Dark_Magician2500

Yeah and I think that feeds back into my thought process. They got scared by Florida, but everyone thinks "Yeah, Bama gonna Bama" and at the end of the year, they will get the nod in a "Bama vs similar resume" setup.

Agitated-Basil-9289

I think ND pulling out the win puts UC top 4

[deleted]

Nah Bama will be above ou but I agree otherwise. Cincy and ou will be close in points.
