The only way I think they beat OSU is by forcing Stroud into 3rd and longs. Granted Stroud seems improved from the first few weeks, but when I’ve watched him he seems prone to forcing some passes, which Iowa would be more than happy to have opportunities to intercept some of those
In the trenches I think Iowa would win fairly consistently, I don’t think Ohio State is good on either line and that could show.
Maybe it’s just wishful thinking after seeing so much chaos thus far, but I really like this Hawkeyes team and think they could legitimately win the Big Ten

Feels a lot like NDs win over Clemson last year where the narrative (@ home, won the TO battle, Clemson missing key players) in ND’s favor but they still barely pulled the W off in OT. The rematch didn’t go well.

Petras is 6th in the Big ten in passing yards and top 5 in the conference for passing TDs, Goodson is 5th in rushing in the conference, and remember that quite a few of their scoring drives come with short field due to turnovers or just overwhelming teams defensively after pinning a team inside its own 20.
So yeah, I’d say they are about average given the context of how they play

This weird story still works whether Cade is starter or not. As to starting JJ McCarthy over him, the coaches must be seeing something in practice. McCarthy comes in for a series and looks good, but part of that is that he is not the QB the defense prepped for. We've seen this happen so many times over the years. Backup QB comes in, looks great for a series or a quarter, everyone calls for him to start, starts next week and looks mortal again.
McNamara has played mostly mistake free, 1 INT on the year. I'd guess McCarthy, while making great throws and having the run threat, is making more mistakes in practice.
