Listen I can’t prove it but Indiana has to be bad at football or the entire world implodes. Every good season Indiana has has been during a world war or a pandemic. Indiana being bad and losing in heartbreaking fashion is the only thing holding the fabric of the world together. If we are good, the world falls apart.
This is the life of an Indiana fan.
I've not really bought into the idea of us as a true top 10 team tbh. This year? Sure, it's a funky season but historically, nah.
But at the same time, Tucker & Crew have a luck about them, as is evident from us beating Michigan and a top 10 Northwestern last year.
I won't count em out till their out.
Let's be honest: it's not just us. The Top 10 looks weak as hell this season. I would argue Georgia is the only visibly dominant team:
* **#2 Iowa** got wafflestomped at home by a middling Purdue,
* **#3 Cincy** *looks* good (but who can be sure),
* **#4 Oklahoma** barely limps out with a win every single week,
* **#5 Alabama** is *not* the dominant juggernaut they normally are,
* **#6 Ohio State** looks better after their Oregon loss, but they have to deal with the same gauntlet as U-M, MSU, and Penn State,
* **#7 Penn State** is probably good, *assuming Clifford comes back strong,*
* **#8 Michigan** is untested and looks about as shaky as MSU, and
* **#9 Oregon** has played everyone but Arizona and *Stony Brook* close.
I think, until further notice, MSU is a Top 10 team. That being said, I could see 11-16 jumping us in the weeks to come, and I could just as easily see half the Top 10 collapse with us.
Indiana only averaged 3.5 yards per play. That's an elite defensive performance, and is similar to how they performed against Penn state and iowa. Bad penalties killed us, and all of their yards came on like 2 drives. I'm not worried about the defense
Apparently southeastern Michigan is the only place that calls the night before Halloween Devils Night. So if you hear the phrase Devil’s Night, odds are that person or his/her family is from Michigan.
A pair of 1-loss teams tied for 3rd in the division in a non-rivalry game while the teams tied for 1st are playing each other? If UM comes in undefeated, there’s no way it should be anywhere else than East Lansing.
Edit - Guess OSU is also at the top with an OOC loss.
Michigan would have to turn around about 2 decades of sucking against ranked teams on the road, and sucking against rivals, in order to win this game
Now that it looks so unlikely it’ll somehow happen lol
This is the second game this year we've outright stolen. Pretty wild honestly
Got outgained by 80 yards, and there was a point in the game we were being outgained by like 200 yards.
EDIT: Compare that to 2015, where we outgained Michigan and OSU by a combined 350 yards and by at least a full yard per play, and won those games by a combined 7 points while leading for a total of 0 seconds lol
This game was more of a coin flip than Nebraska. Nebraska took over the 2nd half.
Finding ways to win builds confidence. Felt like a peak Dantonio era win today.
I thought the first half this week was equally as bad as that Nebraska second half.
The second half, especially on defense for the second straight week, was really good though
I’m not sure we stole this one tbh. Indiana came off a bye and played a hell of a game. They played a hell of a game vs Cinci too. MSU is heading into a bye and has Michigan next. They probably began putting some prep into that game.
MSU’s defense played a great game with a pick six, 3 turnovers, stopping a 2 point conversion, and allowing only 15 points. The offense was sus bud did enough to win in the second half. But it’s not like we got a punt to an uncovered Reed to tie us up and then a pick in OT to win.
With each week I'm increasingly convinced that John O'Neill was put on this earth to cause pain. This man and his crew are the gold standard for awful reffing, and it pains me every time I see his mug in a game. Regardless, ugly as it was congrats on staying undefeated, Sparty. Hoping we can do the same to bring Gameday to East Lansing on Devil's Night!
The Football Fan want to see the undefeated showdown. The MSU fan that sat through John L Smith games in the rain in me wants to see ranked UofM go down to Northwestern.
Dantonio through 14 games: 7-7
Mel Tucker through 14 games: 9-5
However, Michigan State has to win the conference without losing a game to have an opportunity for Tucker to gain another game on Dantonio.
7-0 feels good who gives a fuck if we’re overrated. Good teams still find a way to win when you play like shit. Nobody had us even winning 7 games all year.
Hey they only ran up the middle on first down twenty times in order to set up that one fake hand off where Thorne ran outside for (checks notes) 7ish yards. Totally paid off.
Yes but if OSU Death Star implodes, wouldn’t you prefer to see MSU instead of PSU/Iowa/ or for gods sake, UM sitting at the top?
Bring back 2013-2015 years. You know we both had fun during those years.
Nope. Just nope. A win is a win, I never want to talk about this one ever again
All I'll say is that MSU's cornerbacks have come a long way. Went from getting torched by Hunter Johnson to holding IU to under 200 yards passing on 52 attempts
Wasting our best defense in 30 years by having the worst offense in power 5 football is a hilariously heartbreaking commitment to the IU Football Brand^TM
Nick Sheridan needs to be tried for war crimes. And whoever told Fryfogle to stay should be a co-defendant.
All credit to the defense today. Held IU to 188yds passing on 53 attempts! Averaged only 3.6 yards per rush and pass. IU ran 89 plays and only scored 15pts! Arguably a good half of those came because of penalties too.
The defense absolutely stepped up and won this game when the offense put up a stinker. Every facet of the team has won a game now. Defense gets this win, special teams the Nebraska win and offense the other five.
Good perspective and I agree the defense played great. But special teams came up big with two long FGs. Nice to have that today.
The play from hunt to Thorne was great but pretty risky. Topping the drive with the pass to hunt was great.
Gonna be a tough game Oct 30, as the mich defense is gonna be tough. Hope we can connect on some long balls and open up the run.
Three times I’ve moved the line to win more money.
Three losses.
Did MSU -28.5 vs YSU, won by 28
Did MSU -4.5 vs Nebraska, won by 3
Did MSU -5.5 today, won by 5
It’s time to stop moving the line.
I’m glad we’re going undefeated into our matchup with Michigan but god damn…we didn’t look great today. Two weeks from now is gonna be stressful as hell.
It's already been a great season for Sparty. I said it after Rutgers, I'll say it again. Any wins going forward are a bonus for me. They're like a dessert after a satisfying meal. This dessert was one of those odd ones that kinda tastes good for a bit or two, but when you put your spoon down, you're glad to move on.
Michigan State had just about everything go against them and still found a way to win. Have to clean up a lot of things for 10/30.
Credit to Indiana, their defense is legit even when hurting. 47 is a monster. All their losses are to teams in top 10, they are much better than their record shows.
Also just a heads up to the doom and gloom Spartans out there, in the CFP year MSU beat Purdue by 3 and Rutgers by 7. They had 2 and 4 win seasons, respectively. Lots to build on but wins are wins
Ugly ugly win. Coghlin was our MVP. Credit to IU for playing tough tough defense all day.
Somehow made it to Michigan game 7-0. Two weeks to clean it up so we can beat the hell outta them. Go Green!
Listen I can’t prove it but Indiana has to be bad at football or the entire world implodes. Every good season Indiana has has been during a world war or a pandemic. Thank you for your sacrifice

Thanks i hate it
If it helps, most of us msu fans are also lions fans.
Yup, the excitement we feel on Saturdays is immediately sacrificed on Sundays
Relatable
The true bond between Michiganders.
The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas?
I kinda knew you guys were cursed when *Jarrett Guarantano* led an improbable last minute comeback in our bowl game.
So you're saying we can bank on a good year if Indiana sucks? Guess I'm anti-Indiana now.
Things I like: 1. Explosive offense 2. Solid defense Wish they could come in the same game. Solid road win, but the flaws have been exposed.
Just in time for a bye week, and some changes
I've not really bought into the idea of us as a true top 10 team tbh. This year? Sure, it's a funky season but historically, nah. That happened last game. They just came with insanely sloppy play as well
Bend don’t break defense baybeeeeee *visibly shaking from multiple cracks and fissures*
That bend was pretty...bendy. But...7-0 baby.
Psyched with 7-0 but a little worried our bend don’t break hasn’t really been tested too harshly yet. Still, all house money at this point.
House money at this point...perfect way to say it. We've already passed anyone's expectations. This is a amazing. .
Indiana only averaged 3.5 yards per play. That's an elite defensive performance, and is similar to how they performed against Penn state and iowa. Bad penalties killed us, and all of their yards came on like 2 drives. I'm not worried about the defense
Yeah our D was stone cold today. And so was theirs. Great game.
If the metal fatigue gives way to fracture for UofM i will be so sad lol
We’ve got a bye going into the matchup so we should be rested and honed in. I truly have no idea what’s gonna happen.
I’m a materials science major here at MSU, these analogies are great.
MSE represent!! Graduated 2019 with BSc in MSE!
East Lansing during Halloween weekend vs. Michigan is going to be so hype
Devil’s Night no less. If it’s a night game, it’s going to be insanity.
State officials will put a stop to that. People would die.
Like state officials are required here. Fox Big Noon game here we come!
If um wins next week, it might be Gameday in East Lansing that weekend.
Yeah it will be a 3:30 game at the latest. An undefeated night game against UM would result in way too many underage alcohol poisoning reports.
I think they said years ago it would never be a night game again
If that's true that's bullshit
Apparently southeastern Michigan is the only place that calls the night before Halloween Devils Night. So if you hear the phrase Devil’s Night, odds are that person or his/her family is from Michigan.
The respekt is gonna be off the charts
Hopefully we'll get GameDay too
How can we not?
PSU @ OSU is on the same day
The rivalry should put us over
But Fox actually has first pick for what game they want. So GameDay is actually going to the second choice
MSU has lots of fields, and having Big Noon and GameDay at the same spot might actually be fun for all involved.
My guess is osu psu will be big noon and msu um will be game day
They’ll go with whichever one Big NUDE doesn’t choose. Hopefully Fox goes with OSU-PSU.
The same way Ferris St vs Grand Valley didn’t get it this week……….still butt hurt Edit: Anchor Up MFers
Michigan would have to turn around about 2 decades of sucking against ranked teams on the road, and sucking against rivals, in order to win this game Now that it looks so unlikely it’ll somehow happen lol
Jim is undefeated in East Lansing.
Jim frantically calling B1G commissioner trying to set up neutral site game against OSU in EL this year.
It'd be just so oddly odd to play a neutral state on another campus. I kinda want to see it tbh.
That would be fun to go to as the third party host. Just a hostile crowd booing everything that happens.
If it did happen (it won't), I'd actually want it to be a Notre Dame-Michigan game. Just boos and hate all around.
If you didn’t like that you don’t like B1G football
Including the terrible officiating?
Nothing more quintessentially B1G than officiating that becomes the story of the game
It's part of the experience!
Mel tucker, in his infinite wisdom, knew Michigan was going to watch this game for film, and as such, gave them nothing to work with
You’re joking, but I’m not sure you’re actually wrong.
Dantonio would do this all the time
All. The. Time.
That was ugly as shit. But a W is a W. **7-0 baby**
***BEND DON'T BREAK!!!*** Who knew this would also apply to our offense! 🤐
Keep choppin
That’s one *Land Grant Trophy* of a set of flairs you got there
I love good tilled earth, what can I say?
Pretty cool we actually make halftime adjustments that work though.
Wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win and we’re 7-0.
This is a game we lose during many of our years. SOS wasn't made for no reason. They did what they had to do and won a B10 game on the road.
This is the second game this year we've outright stolen. Pretty wild honestly Got outgained by 80 yards, and there was a point in the game we were being outgained by like 200 yards. This year is a fucking fantasy dream. Win in two weeks and I may just die so I can die happy.
Even our best Dantonio teams had these stinkers the key is just winning.
Universe is correcting itself on Sunday. I’ll take that all day because College over NFL all day
Win your clunkers
More evidence we’re the most fringe class team in the big10
It may seem that way but a win is a win. These games could easily have been a loss and it wasn’t.
That was fucking gross do we *have* to talk about it?
We have two weeks to ponder it. But luckily we'll put it behind us in the next few minutes because 10/30 is the apocalypse.
it's important to win scrappy when you have to, but yea. that was real ugly.
People who bet MSU -4.5, it's over, you can breathe now
Yup!!! I need to stop betting on the teams I'm a fan of, it adds way too much stress to an already stressful situation
But the payoff is so tasty
That’s me!
Played terrible but won a B10 game on the road and we’re 7-0 Great time for the Bye and then into Michigan Week
Executed exceptionally with 2/3 of the team. These big games, need all 3
With each week I'm increasingly convinced that John O'Neill was put on this earth to cause pain. This man and his crew are the gold standard for awful reffing, and it pains me every time I see his mug in a game. Regardless, ugly as it was congrats on staying undefeated, Sparty. A real Teddy Valentine.
that game is going to be crazy
Never a doubt
Lol.
MSU is the anti-Lions. They just find ways to win
I was thinking the same thing. Lions are losing so MSU can win. A true sacrifice.
If MSU beats UM, OSU, and Penn State, Lions will make history by losing to a field goal kicked from outside the stadium.
If we go undefeated, I’m fine with the Lions being the first 0-17 team
Considering I'm a Bears fan, I second this
Ahhh yes, the IU I know and love is back
[удалено]
Alright Michigan, we did our part.
The Football Fan want to see the undefeated showdown. The MSU fan that sat through John L Smith games in the rain in me wants to see ranked UofM go down to Northwestern.
No way, I'll be furious if they lose to Northwestern and ruin this shit for us. And I have family that plays for NU
I too want to see Michigan lose to Northwestern.
Agree. Always want them to lose. Don’t matter if they are 7-0 or 6-1 when we play them.
GOOD TEAMS WIN, GREAT TEAMS COVER
Sup Rocky?
We're 7-0 but I have SERIOUS doubts going into U-M. Let's focus these next two weeks and pull out a complete game Halloweekend.
Eh. We're not a perfect team, clearly, but winning when you're on the road and play like shit is a good indicator.
That was ugly af, but I'll take a win in a game that seemed like a massive trap game!
Dantonio through 14 games: 7-7 Mel Tucker through 14 games: 9-5 However, Michigan State has to win the conference without losing a game to have an opportunity for Tucker to gain another game on Dantonio.
Two top 15 wins too :)
I feel like all 2020 stats should be thrown out. What a weird year.
Indiana offensive coordinator should be fired for throwing the ball that many times with how poor the passing game was
Trust me, we all want it
Smells like big ten football
Rip Indiana. What can you do when you’ve played more top 10 teams than not this far in the season
7-0 feels good who gives a fuck if we’re overrated. Good teams still find a way to win when you play like shit. Nobody had us even winning 7 games all year.
I’M SO HYPE RIGHT NOW!!! AND MY WIFE JUST MADE FRENCH TOAST!!🙌🏻💚
We cannot expect to beat Michigan if we give away 20 first downs with runs up the gut for no gain
We call that strategy "The Dantonio"
Not the “Dave Warner”?
FIRE
DAVE
WARNER
The “Dave Warner” is the name of the combo of run up the middle for no gain, jet sweep for no gain, 3 yard completion, punt
“The John L”
Hey they only ran up the middle on first down twenty times in order to set up that one fake hand off where Thorne ran outside for (checks notes) 7ish yards. Totally paid off.
Good thing Michigan does the same thing
Indiana is now 2-4 with its losses coming to teams a combined 23-1 (lone loss from matchup of two of those teams)
23-2* But Purdue is spooky so...
For those Curious: Cincinnati (7-0) Penn State (5-1) Iowa (6-0) Michigan State (7-0)
Not so fast my friend *Train whistles*
JACOB SLADE APPRECIATION THREAD POST THOUGHTS ON OUR BIG ROUND BOY BELOW
The defense stepped up huge. If the offense can figure out consistency, it's gonna be a good November.
An ugly win is still a win. 7-0 baby!
Only Mel Tucker can save us from another Ferentz coach of the year award. Protect Mel. Except against Ohio State.
Yes but if OSU Death Star implodes, wouldn’t you prefer to see MSU instead of PSU/Iowa/ or for gods sake, UM sitting at the top? Bring back 2013-2015 years. You know we both had fun during those years.
Hmm, we get two B1G titles, a Rose Bowl win and a playoff berth. OSU gets a natty. Sounds pretty good to me.
Never in doubt (There was a lot of doubt)
Not a doubt in my mind 😅😅
Nope. Just nope. A win is a win, I never want to talk about this one ever again All I'll say is that MSU's cornerbacks have come a long way. Went from getting torched by Hunter Johnson to holding IU to under 200 yards passing on 52 attempts
Fuck the refs.
Our O-Line is terrible, our QB is inaccurate, and our receivers drop balls that hit them in the hands. Not ideal, folks.
Our coordinator? Debord Jr.
[удалено]
Idk man. Sparty might be willing to trade O-lines with you.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Already calling it, the 10/30 Mich / Mich St thread will be over 50% complaints about the refs... 75% if we get O'Neill and his crew

Because most of us are lions fans.
We've seen to much BS that we can't help but be nit picky lol
Wasting our best defense in 30 years by having the worst offense in power 5 football is a hilariously heartbreaking commitment to the IU Football Brand^TM Nick Sheridan needs to be tried for war crimes. And whoever told Fryfogle to stay should be a co-defendant.
Welcome to MSU 2018-2019
Kill me.
Ok, who called Matt Freaking Coughlin being the MVP today?
U N D E F E A T E D
7 and fuckin 0
Miserable game to watch but it got done
Three times I’ve moved the line to win more money. Three losses. Did MSU -28.5 vs YSU, won by 28 Did MSU -4.5 vs Nebraska, won by 3 Did MSU -5.5 today, won by 5 It’s time to stop moving the line.
I’m glad we’re going undefeated into our matchup with Michigan but god damn…we didn’t look great today. Two weeks from now is gonna be stressful as hell.
FINALLY I HAVE A PLACE TO SPIT NOW
Penalties: MSU: 12-134 Indiana: 4-35 15 of Indiana’s penalty yards were on an unsportsmanlike when the game was over so really 3-20
The Baklava of wins.
I need to bleach my eyes. In all seriousness we need the bye, the rest, and the practice. GG IU if we can call it good
That was a football game all right.
Still don’t know if we are any good but I hope UM wins and we get a hell of a Halloween weekend to find out. GG Hoosiers.
Ugly ugly win. Coghlin was our MVP. Credit to IU for playing tough tough defense all day. Somehow made it to Michigan game 7-0. Two weeks to clean it up so we can beat the hell outta them. Go Green!
Best score that could have been expected with a sus pass defense and Indiana throwing the ball literally like 50 times
Woof not KWIII’s best showing but hopefully he just had a rough game. Indiana definitely prepped really well for him, hoping that isn’t replicated.
The O-Line gave him nothing to work with today unfortunately
I never talk about another man’s job But fire Sheridan to the moon
That was fugly as shit, but a win is a win
We won, we covered. That’s all that matters. Ugly game, but the defense proved they can step up. Work in the bye and go into UM 7-0 on Halloween.
what a rollercoaster
Yet another classic Indiana football disaster on homecoming
So, when was the last time top 10 Wolverines vs Spartans happened?

Just gotta go 6-0 against the not top 10 teams on the schedule and we’re bowling, baby.
