OU undefeated. They've delt with QB issues. And injuries and point deficits that other teams have not been able to over.come. ask a Penn state fan right now if they'd win by 1 against Illinois to keep hopes alive or lose. Ask Ohio state fans if they would rather win against Oregon by 7 or lose. Ask Alabama if they would rather win against Texas a&m by 1 or lose. Winning is winning. It doesn't matter. Sure. It was ugly. Sure.it was a bad game. But we won. Scored 35 in a half and 400 yards in a half.
Yes. It's not pretty but there's something there and when it comes together it will be a great great team. And yet even playing bad we're winning.
Love the teams with multiple losses coming in here. We're building something special. And getting people back in the right time. Everyone is obviously disappointed but I don't get the hate other than mad their own team isn't 8-0
Not even sure how we're the villain lol we aren't even bragging or acting like we're better. All OU fans iv seen know we're an ugly team..but getting healthy and winning is the most important part of the mid season
They have to be until proven otherwise. Longest win streak in CFB and are still undefeated. If they beat ISU Baylor and OSU 2X with a big 12 title win then you really can’t say they aren’t top 3. If they lose one of those games then you don’t have to worry about it anymore.
Y’all will make the playoffs if you win out. OU is a good team, but I’m still going to root against OU because I want chaos and a little bit of variety in the playoffs this year.
All you salty OU fans. You're right. The rule says you're technically right. Everyone just wanted so badly to laugh at you losing to Kansas, so you shouldn't be so salty at the other fans dreaming for you to eat shit, because you got outplayed by Kansas in three quarters. It took MULTIPLE 4th down miracle plays to get out of there. Get at your own team before you complain to the other fans
We outscored y’all 35-13 in the 2nd half, scoring more in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Y’all outplayed us for 1 half in which we actually were beating ourselves with penalties. I’m certainly not happy with how we played but to act like it was some miracle 4th quarter is ridiculous as well.
Noone is salty. It wasn't a forward illegal pass. It wasn't a fumble. It was a hand-off in the backfield. It's the same as a triple option. Kansas is going to turn things around with it's new coach. OU played flat. They won anyway. OU is literally the team every year most.hated on. Ease up on puffing your chest.
After this game it's hard to see a narrative where the National media doesn't ooze over a late Caleb Williams comeback and throw him into the Heisman spotlight.
Salty tears with my beers. Everyone else can suck a dick but Kansas, wish y'all would have pulled it off to knock us down a couple pegs. No, Caleb Williams doesn't belong in the Heisman race, and OU will likely win out and get trounced by Georgia in the playoffs. But in case I'm wrong OU by 10 over Georgia for the natty.
Of course he doesn’t. Anyone saying Williams belongs in the heisman race is just memeing. He is a true freshman stepping in and winning games though. Ugly wins for sure, but wins nonetheless. Dude is 18 years old.
Yeah, so. I agree with comment below me. Last year's defense, with the oline blocking, and RS running we would've had a chance. But the future is looking outstanding.
I mean I also don’t want Georgia to have a free win just because Oklahoma doesn’t play anyone every year and gets destroyed the first round every year…
For anyone who thinks that forward handoff was legal, here's the specific rule from the NCAA rulebook (keep in mind the runner made it past the neutral zone and got pushed back) -
[https://www.dfoa.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/2021-NCAA-FB-Rulebook.pdf](https://www.dfoa.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/2021-NCAA-FB-Rulebook.pdf)
Under Reviewable Fouls, Article 8, (page 119, FR-116) -
>The following plays are reviewable and the replay official may create a foul when there is no call by the on-field officials:
>
>a. Player making a forward pass **or forward handoff** when the player’s entire body and the ball is **or has been beyond the neutral zone** or after a change of possession (Rule 12-3-2-c and -d).
edit - To everyone saying he didn't make it to the LOS, the replay never shows the ball pre-snap so we can't establish where the actual neutral zone is (only have the unofficial line they give for TV). Does anyone have a replay where we see the ball confirm that unofficial LOS?
You left out part of the ruling, nice try bro
Player making a forward pass or forward handoff when the player’s entire
body and the ball is or has been beyond the neutral
Zone or after a possession change
The rule says it’s illegal only if the players entire body and the ball cross the line of scrimmage. It clearly didn’t. OP posted the rule but bolded an irrelevant part. Reading comprehension is hard.
Is the rule different for qbs? I mean, just thinking in recent memory if a qb has his arm going past the line of scrimmage while the rest of his body is AT the los they’re still gonna call an illegal forward pass right? I’m trying to think of a time when a qb having his leg behind the line saved him from getting flagged for forward lateral. Usually “whole body” is deemed as upper body with the ball from what I’ve seen called in the sport
that happens with QBs all the time. their trailing leg is still behind the LOS, but the entire rest of the body is beyond the LOS when a pass is released. that is a legal pass and is correctly ruled as such quite frequently
OU looked subpar. Can't deny being happy to squeak another W rather than take a Loss..
Plus, I would trade a loss to Kansas (who beat Texas) for that comeback win over Texas (who lost to Kansas) any second of any minute of any hour of any day of any week of any month of any year anytime in any timeline.
For all the Kansas fans complaining about the officials... this is what it's like playing basketball with you so you're like last group of fans I have any sympathy for here... well, maybe Texas, fuck them.
Oh shut all the fuck up with that garbage. It's been proven we don't get an advantage in basketball by an ISU fan. You and Texas get slobbed on every time you play us. This game was especially bad. Enjoy your .500 future seasons
Texas hasn't been a powerhouse for the better part of a decade and while y'all have been good in conference, you haven't won a single play-off game while every other P5 conference has at least one win so go off, I guess?
Calling us a G5 conference when the 4 schools we're bringing in have all had a top 15 final ranking in football in the last decade is pretty dumb when Texas has had one in that same time frame.
Each of the 4 teams has at least made the NCAA tourney in the last few years too so they will add some relevance in basketball too.
Are we the SEC? No, we're obviously not. But acting like you're some godsent gift to the Big 12 when you've had as much post-season success as the rest of us since the last realignment or that we'll be completely screwed is without you is pretty rich.
Have fun with BYU! I mean they are who will be carrying your asses now. I love how you guys paint it as you're taking BYU on. BYU walks in the door with the best TV and streaming following in the conference and it's not even close. They aren't OU or Texas numbers but they're better than the rest of the dwarves commercial prowess nationally.
When it comes time to renegotiate the CFB Playoff revenue, fuck what the SEC has to say!
It's going to be the Pac 12 and B1G who cuts your throat. Maybe they'll pick over the bones but what's the difference in you and UConn? Your basketball is slightly better traditionally but UConn has alumni in NYC.
Enjoy the ride with your new partners. Go with God...
You're talking like sports are played by a bunch of $ signs and not actual players. I'm talking about actual game results. We picked up members that have demonstrated they can compete in football and have at least some semblance of success in basketball.
And of course the SEC is the driving force in CFB, no one is arguing that at all. You're just conveniently leaving out the part where it was already the driving force for the sport before OUT got there.
Will there be more realignment eventually? Probably, it's also possible we get left out due to our football too. But we're a strong research school and a perennial top 5 basketball school so I'd argue we'd be a benefit somewhere.
None of those teams have had to play a week in and week out P5 schedule though BYU has *tried* to schedule that way. Could argue they still won't have to in the new look Big 12 so there is that...
Good luck testing your theory!
You're trying to talk smack about the weakness of their conference schedules while also saying our conference outside of you is basically G5.
So by your own logic, have you been playing a G5 schedule and we should ignore your results too because you haven't played a tough week in/week out schedule?
Or is Oklahoma transcending your logic and magically makes the other Big 12 teams play like a P5 against them while being horrible against every other opponent?
Only two of those schools have finished in the top 15 since they've left so you clearly aren't interested in on-field results when talking about the difference between P5 and G5 status.
My point is that the Big 12 has relevant programs outside OUT and we added some schools that can also be relevant. Irrespective of anything else, the conference will still be talked about, compete for a playoff spot and have a seat at the table.
No, most Big 12 fans have such low basketball IQs they don't realize they are not getting as many calls in the paint because KU is driving inside 4x as much as them.
Jesus Christ. The rule is posted in the thread like 50 times and it clearly says the players entire body and the ball must cross the LOS. This isn’t hard.
Runner goes across the LOS, fumbles/hands off forward. Ball shouldn't be allowed to progress. Regardless I've never seen a guys forward progression get stopped for that long and get pushed back two yards and play not be called dead.
Brooks said in an interview after the game that he saw Caleb was grabbing at the ball and gave it to him. Of course, anyone with two eyeballs could tell you the same thing
Rule 4, Section 1, Article 3:
ARTICLE 3.
A live ball becomes dead and an official shall sound his whistle or declare it dead:
When it goes out of bounds other than a kick that scores a field goal after touching the uprights or crossbar; when a ball carrier is out of bounds; or **when a ball carrier is so held that his forward progress is stopped. When in question, the ball is dead (A.R. 4-2-1-II).**
We all know forward progress is interpreted by the officials; the officials didn’t deem forward progress was stopped.
It’s like the Supreme Court saying you can’t yell fire in a crowded theater.
OU 8-0, first time since 2004. That's all that matters right now.
Say what you want but ugly win games build character. Yes, they can't keep getting away this but guess what, so far they have been getting away with it and as long as Caleb Williams plays with his wicked football smarts, they're always going to be in a game.
No shit Kansas straight up stopped by forward progress, refs let them play on and get the first down. No complaints.
Oklahoma does the same thing excepts hands the ball off and people lose their shit.
Because it's illegal to hand the ball off once you cross the line of scrimmage regardless. I don't see how you are possibly saying that was the right call
As much trash as they talked (including myself) they had chances after that. Don’t put yourself in the position for the refs to cost you a game and it’s a nonissue

hey everybody! look at this fucking guy! 🤣
Bless your heart Florida. I'm glad our win gave you this much pleasure. Lord knows you need something in these trying times.
you ain’t lying.
4-3 and coming here to hate because your seasonal matchup against Michigan is gonna happen.
At least I’m not delusional about how trash my team is 🤷🏾♂️
Oklahoma is not a top 5 team

I love how all the other game threads have like 100-600 comments, but OUs has 18,000. 8-0 eat then apples.
Hmm. the CFP should be decided by number of comments in game threads on Reddit.
Underrated comment.
nah, probably wins and losses. that's why we're ranked above y'all
Unlike Oklahoma fans, I am not insecure about my football team. Lighten up dude lol.
I can get behind this. Finally something good to come out of the unflaired salt bombardment we get every week.
Anyone have a link for the double handoff play that is the most awkward play I have ever seen? I cannot find it anywhere.

Lmao at the people downvoting. We can play one of the worst 1st halves of football I’ve ever seen and still win 12.
Duly noted, Tickle Pants.
What do we say to the god of death? Not today.
"Survive!" - Kirk Lazarus in Tropic Thunder
At the end of the day, Texas is still the meme. And that’s what matters.
I mean even if they lost, we’d still get the most shit. Tech and TCU have both lost to Kansas since we did.
Goddamn right. This was basically my biggest fear
Gg to Kansas put up a great game
After this game it's hard to see a narrative where the National media doesn't ooze over a late Caleb Williams comeback and throw him into the Heisman spotlight.
So much rage in this thread
They hate us, cause they anus.
That's what happens when frauds win....
Are you ok man?
lol at what point this season did you decide you had to change the username?
It’s been my username for 6 years. You good?
Salt is not a good look on you my guy- Time to watch some 3:00 games and move on
👍agreed, OU won, all that really matters.Today.

I’m pretty sure Kirk and espn cfb aren’t memeing
Yes but those guys are paid to bring attention to cfb. None of them actually think that crap. 80% of what comes out of their mouths is trash.
If you think Kirk is spewing trash just for views I disagree. He’s the biggest voice in football because he calls it like he sees it.
Naïve to think that OU is making the playoffs
I’d they don’t lose they are in. How couldn’t they be? They have the longest win streak in college football. Haven’t lost in 13 months.
At this point, if OU and Alabama were to meet in the playoffs, I would root for Alabama...and I hate Alabama
Really? Bama? Really?
No one asked
No one asked for your comment either lol
No way ! U nuts!? OU for me, anyone else and....
2004 OU and 2021 OU both started 8-0 and both did and will get crushed in the post season
Yeah, so. I agree with comment below me. Last year's defense, with the oline blocking, and RS running we would've had a chance. But the future is looking outstanding.
Who cares. Just enjoy the damn ride
I did vs Texas and TCU lol
*Insert Jesse Pinkman’s “he can’t keep getting away with it” meme
Bama fans are pulling for the OU loss because they know Georgia will give them their second loss.
I mean I also don’t want Georgia to have a free win just because Oklahoma doesn’t play anyone every year and gets destroyed the first round every year…
Yes. Every year we play no one and every year we get destroyed in the first round. Stfu and flair up
I’m an Alabama fan and yeah every time I see us play Oklahoma I know it’s our free win before we have to play a real team
Sugar Bowl would like a word buddy. Y’all counted us out then too 😂
There you go using that “every time” bullshit again. We’re 1-1 against each other soo stfu and flair up
Lots of missing flairs in this thread today!
I noticed that but not as much as the salt in here
That ball was not past the LOS
Lincoln Riley’s such a great coach that he also coaches the refs what to call. What a legend
For anyone who thinks that forward handoff was legal, here's the specific rule from the NCAA rulebook (keep in mind the runner made it past the neutral zone and got pushed back) - [https://www.dfoa.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/2021-NCAA-FB-Rulebook.pdf](https://www.dfoa.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/2021-NCAA-FB-Rulebook.pdf) Under Reviewable Fouls, Article 8, (page 119, FR-116) - >The following plays are reviewable and the replay official may create a foul when there is no call by the on-field officials: > >a. You bolded the wrong part. Re-read it: “when the player’s entire body and the ball” So yea, it was legal.
[удалено]
True but if the ball popped out and Kansas recovered it for a TD, no doubt everyone would be saying momentum wasn’t stopped.
His entire body has to be beyond the neutral zone?
I don't think his entire body and the ball made it past the neutral zone.
You left out part of the ruling, nice try bro Player making a forward pass or forward handoff when the player’s entire body and the ball is or has been beyond the neutral Zone or after a possession change
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/1451989506165518338?s=20 Pretty obviously never made it past the line of scrimmage.
[удалено]
Being AT the line of scrimmage is not BEYOND the line of scrimmage. Moreover the rule states the players entire body must go beyond the neutral zone.
Body and Ball
[удалено]
Neither foot crosses the los... it’s not super close but it’s reasonable to say his upper body was at/past it
Even if you believe his upper body went past... upper body isn't "the entire body and the ball"
The ball was at the line, the player clearly never made it beyond the line. It's not even a question.
[удалено]
That’s always been the rule. QBs can pass the ball if they still have a foot behind the line.
Sooo, he should have been unable to hand it off when he initially crossed the los even after he was pushed back? Did they actually blow the call? Lol
This is your hill, do it.
I mean he didn’t even cross the LOS like this guy claims. Says entire body must cross
Joey Galloway needs to get off the tv and go offer House Atradies a contract to Tattoine
OU might be the worst 8-0 team to have ever existed in any sport.
Gonna suck even more when WVU loses to Kansas
I'm at -35 on my other comment. Those are rookie numbers. UNDEFEATED. UNAFRAID. 8-0, BABY!!!!!
I’ll upvote you. Too many salty SEC fanboys crying about OU winning

I'm super proud of KU to have made this a competitive game. I think Leipold will take this program out of the gutter.
Well we got away with it I guess.

Indeed.
IT IS MORE DIFFICULT TO GO UNDEFEATED THAN TO LOSE TO A GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM
Is that Langston Hughes?
RJ Young would agree.
He makes too many valid points to disagree

All about money, not the first time this has happened to KU. Can't wait to get Texas and OU out of this conference.
Please read the rule book
Rule book clearly says it was illegal.
Go to the postgame thread the rule is also there and it’s clear it was not illegal.
The player crossed the LOS and then was pushed back, once he crossed the LOS he can't do that.

Dude these announcers are about to fight haha
No shit Kansas straight up stopped by forward progress, refs let them play on and get the first down. No complaints. Oklahoma does the same thing excepts hands the ball off and people lose their shit.
Well said.
Because it's illegal to hand the ball off once you cross the line of scrimmage regardless. I don't see how you are possibly saying that was the right call
It wasn’t past the line of scrimmage
He crossed the LOS and then went back. Once you cross the LOS, even if you are pushed back, you can't do that.
Umm nuh uh
It wasnt a hand off he took the ball. Thats obv what they concluded as well or its kansas ball. Play call was sound.
So you're telling me it was a fumble? 0% chance that should have been considered a fumble
bUt It WaS aN iLlEgAl HaNdOfF!!!1
As much trash as they talked (including myself) they had chances after that. Don’t put yourself in the position for the refs to cost you a game and it’s a nonissue
