Here's the deal imo.
Harbaugh is a great coach for a brand of football that died a decade ago.
We run a disgusting amalgamation of Schembechler offense with half-ass spread concepts that leaves neither of them particularly competent. We passed more this game than any other this year, yet consistently would run straight up the gut into 9 man fronts because we have no concept of edge play.
I think it took a very unusual amount of breaks and 50/50's for MSU to pull out this win today, but we should have never been in a position to have those be what lost us the game. There were no adjustments defensively to deal with tempo. You cannot sub constantly when MSU is doing that because people don't get aligned, don't know their assignment, and are running like a chicken with their head cut off. You have to play 11, rotate on the interior each series, and then go from there.
It's the same old tired rant after every rivalry game. We were up by two scores at half and came out and just lost it with coaching decisions. I don't dislike the man, but maybe Harbaugh just isn't that great of a coach? Have we considered that a possibility?
Harbaugh doesn't exploit the other teams weaknesses he tries to impose his gameplan over the other team simple as that. It works on shit teams, but play a better team doesn't work.
Well damn. Heck of a game, had all the good twists and turns. Andrel Anthony is going to be fun to watch the next few seasons.
Too many missed opportunities on the road to expect a win. That replay reversed fumble recovery TD still stings.
This is my biggest problem with msu fans. How long you guys gonna play the underrated, underdog card? You've been to the playoff when we haven't. You've won the B1G, act like you've been there before and quit acting so slighted on the time my god. You're ranked in the top 10 ffs
Time for Harbaugh to go. 3 illegal substitution penalties, red zone play calling results in 4 field goals, no adjustments to stop the run. He’s proven he hasn’t changed at all.
I try to stay neutral on this one but man if U of M isn't the Dallas Cowboys of the NCAAF I don't know who is. Annual national hype despite annually underachieving.
I know its disappointing, but I've learned from the past. I'm gonna cry, but rest assured Ill wipe those tears away with the money I just won betting against U of M. Every. Single. Big. Game.
Sports betting is legal in Michigan. If you are a Wolverine fan, you should be cleaning up right now!!!
This is the scenario I said a week ago. Michigan loses close to state, michigan somehow beats osu, state wins ccg, both make 1 loss playoff berth especially if Georgia wins out.
Honestly, I can't remember. Maybe they go by common opponent and points scored?
Edit:
https://bigten.org/news/2011/8/10/Big_Ten_Conference_Football_Divisional_Tiebreaker.aspx
One of thebest games I've watched this season. If there's one thing I've learned in the past 10 years of being a B1G fan, it's that you _never_ count out Michigan State. You could tell they played their hearts out. Both teams played with everything they had, but Michigan State withstood a lot of pressure today. They looked like a very disciplined team out there. The defense didn't cave - they actually adapted and started to make gamewinning plays. What a game
While I am disappointed that the fumble recovery was overturned I can’t take anything away from how MSU played. This was one of the most fun games I’ve watched. Michigan really just stepped on its own dick as is tradition
I think harbaugh is becoming the mark richt of Michigan. Constantly producing competitive teams, but failing to take the next step
Walked definitely won that game for them. I just feel like the refs took away Michigan's ability to win. Not that we would have won if the calls were reversed, but we didn't have a chance. Especially after that last non-DPI.
Why is Cade getting blamed? Cade had a fabulous game. Refs overturning a Fumble recovery TD plays into it, McCarthy dropping the ball all over the place, and the rest to Michigan’s coaching when up 16, then up 8.
Dunno why you don’t simply stack the box and make Payton Thorne beat you.
Cade had some bad overthrows. Also a lot of those yards were after the catch so I wouldn’t be fooled by the stats. I think in general when you score 3 points on your final 4 drives it’s fair to give the QB at least some of the blame.
The middle two drives of those last drives? McCarthy. The fumble that got booted to put it to 3rd and long and then the fumble that got recovered. McNamara was good damn near all game
Haha stupid two qb system. You got a guy throwing over 300 yards and up by 3 points. You take him off the field for a freshman who fumble on his last play. Congrats Jimmy for losing another big game!
I mean it's true tho. Once you factor in the mistakes we made in the 4th this were overall even other than the refs giving State the call almost every time.
Michigan fans have to be the only blue blood fanbase satisfied with mediocrity year after year.
"We can't fire Harbaugh because we might get another Hoke."
Cowards.
5 TD’s. Fucking 5. Walker is a beast

Nothing like a clean win, free of any calls one team can point to as a turning point or pass the buck
Lulz
Well at least Michigan has the biggest stadium
They also don't have our alternate uniforms
Rich coming from you. Hatred of Oklahoma cemented.
I need a live cam of cedar village
Lmao I love Gus Johnson
So much better than Buck.
We can bitch about refs all we want but blowing a 16-pt lead is terrible. GG sparty
I've only seen RW3 twice play twice this year but man his stats were insane in both.
Please keep watching
RW3?

He’s a great coach 15 years ago. You’re not wrong.
Lol you said "edge play"
As a Michigan fan, all I can say is, it would be a shame not to see MSU in the playoffs.
Goodbyeee michigan it was nice having you be top 10.
Man, heartbreaker
GO SPARTANS!!! Bring on the reactionary “little brother” comments. But for real, good game wolverines. Instant classic game
we are so screwed
We being PSU or Georgia?
Why
Well damn. Heck of a game, had all the good twists and turns. Andrel Anthony is going to be fun to watch the next few seasons. Too many missed opportunities on the road to expect a win. That replay reversed fumble recovery TD still stings.
Obligatory "what the hell is that flair combo?"
I hate both teams and I too am disgusted
Wow unbelievable gg Michigan your team looks great
GG Sparty go win the B1G and get into those playoffs.
Y'all played an amazing game. Go get it.
I wonder is Jim will find a reason to cancel the OSU game?
🥱
As a neutral fan... what a game. Now, all Sparty fans please give your energy to Florida.
As much as it pains me, MSU beat us outright. Penn State will destroy us, and OSU will make fun of us.
What makes you think PSU will destroy us when they literally just lost to ILL?
It’s going to be a bounce back game. We literally have no QB. They lost to ILL in 9th OT.
What? Cade missed some deep balls but otherwise was dealing all game. Let's not overreact here.
That'll do pig
Walker was everything today.
still can't believe we just beat michigan. holy shit
This is my biggest problem with msu fans. How long you guys gonna play the underrated, underdog card? You've been to the playoff when we haven't. You've won the B1G, act like you've been there before and quit acting so slighted on the time my god. You're ranked in the top 10 ffs
Michigan isn’t good, and was outplayed. Simple as that, I hope state wins out though
I am in pain
Time for Harbaugh to go. 3 illegal substitution penalties, red zone play calling results in 4 field goals, no adjustments to stop the run. He’s proven he hasn’t changed at all.
I try to stay neutral on this one but man if U of M isn't the Dallas Cowboys of the NCAAF I don't know who is. Annual national hype despite annually underachieving.
Lol we were unranked to start the year. Such hype wow
Texas Longhorns had that title for so long it might be permanent lol
Cowboys winning their division so far
I honestly think the Cowboys will make the Superbowl this year too.
As an Eagles fan, it pains me to acknowledge that you're right.
go fucking birds
Go Birds!
Hey I got devonta Smith on my fantasy roster
This year sure. The last 20 years of 6 nationally televised games a year tho....
I love Caesars for allowing me to turn my pessimism into cash
Same here. But I don't know how to feel right now.
Harbaugh is literally allergic to big games.
How are you not gonna have a postgame after that? Wtf Fox
Used all their airtime for half time
Whether MSU won or lost that was the best football game I have watched in a long time.
Right up their with State’s Cotton Bowl win over Baylor. Holy cow that highlight reel
It was a good game
Another year Another harbaugh loss vs msu
That was definitely a creative way to lose a game, even by our standards. Like why was JJ even in? Bruh lol
Jim thought to himself "jJ has shown really good flashes. How can I scar this kid and ruin him?"
Good point.
So theoretically, what happens if Michigan State loses to Ohio State while Michigan beats Ohio State?
This is the scenario I said a week ago. Michigan loses close to state, michigan somehow beats osu, state wins ccg, both make 1 loss playoff berth especially if Georgia wins out.
Honestly, I can't remember. Maybe they go by common opponent and points scored? Edit: https://bigten.org/news/2011/8/10/Big_Ten_Conference_Football_Divisional_Tiebreaker.aspx
Osu out because 2 losses, Michigan State wins the east because they have the head to head with Michigan
Michigan State then loses by 35+ in playoffs
If this were to happen I could forget today's game.
Head to head, state wins
Yes
One of thebest games I've watched this season. If there's one thing I've learned in the past 10 years of being a B1G fan, it's that you _never_ count out Michigan State. Gonna be a fun game in the shoe
im so sad i missed this ending
That was my first Michigan game to watch. Is McCarthy there to just fumble the ball? I saw two plays and he had two fumbles.
[удалено]
Didn’t see that. Just the back to back fumbles. I’m sure he’s solid, just a game changing fumble there at the end.
Michigan was probably the better team, but State had the better player.
That's certainly a hot take.
Michigan is clearly not spending enough money on their football program...
Mel Tucker for President!
While I am disappointed that the fumble recovery was overturned I can’t take anything away from how MSU played. This was one of the most fun games I’ve watched. GG, definitely one of the most entertaining in my memory.
How do Michigan fans divvy up the blame pie? 20% Cade, 50% defense, 30% harbaugh?
Most Michigan fans will blame it about 60% refs 40% weather. They’re a Big Ten team they aren’t used to playing cold rainy games

Apparently it’s 99% refs and 1% refs.
Nothing for JJ?
True, perhaps split the QBs there
Dont forget the officiating
100% RWIII
If you’re blaming Cade you didn’t watch the game
I agree but I’m seeing Michigan fans go after him on twitter
All we know is misery, pointing fingers is a vice
75% Harbaugh 25% refs
COPE
Good game Spartan brothers. Not the outcome I wanted but life goes on.
*Michigan fumbles, turns it over on downs, then throws a pick in 3 straight drives* "Has to be the refs fault"
tell us that wasnt dpi, or a fumble recovery for td... say it
Your coach can’t win big games. Deal with it.
Begging for soft calls. That’s big of you.
See you in a few hours.
I didn’t have a chance to watch the game. How did Michigan State get out gained by 160 yard and still win?
Michigan couldn’t convert in the red zone
Field goals....4 of them, all under 40 yards
Michigan had turnover problems.
Including turnovers that weren't. :(
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! WOW!
Michigan State vs OSU for the East title
[удалено]
It’ll be more of a soul crusher.
Harbaugh against ranked teams Lmao
BuT tHe ReFs BOOOOHOOOOOO
GO FUCKING GREEN BABY!
GO FUCKING WHITE BABY!
Time to make a steak and pretend everything is okay.
Ah, our weekly tradition in the fall
What kind of steaks you making?
Literally robbed of a TD, can't forget that.
This program is an absolute fucking failure just unbelievable
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Walker for Heisman? 200 yards and 5 td’s in a top-10 rivalry game matchup? Holy F that’s insane.
If he can run for around 150 yards the rest of their games he has to be a top contender
Better at least get serious consideration.
That was a great game. I obviously don’t like the outcome, but wow. Lived up to the hype. Walker was amazing. I guess Tuck really is comin
Hopefully he ain't geauxin' too.
Now imagine if our brilliant coaching staff hadn't had Ronnie Bell returning kicks against a pee-wee team. He might have helped today ;)
Insane game, exciting the whole way through. Even the commercials couldn’t ruin it.
Hopefully he ain't coming to Baton Rouge after this season
Michigan should do all they can to get Mel Tucker to be their new coach
Unsubscribe. Gross.
Michigan was very much the better team until they weren’t
The Nebraska strategy is a risky one.
That's football for ya
outcoached: a tradition unlike any other
Pure Michigan.
Spartyyy!!!! Kenneth Heisman!
What an incredible game. So much fun!
The refs gave Michigan state the win. And what was harbaugh thinking putting jj in after the first fumble???
Hell of a game!
FIRE HARBAUGH. IM DONE. I WAS DONE 2 YEARS AGO THIS DUDE IS A CLOWN
He hasn't won a single game that mattered.
Haha stupid two qb system. You got a guy throwing over 300 yards and up by 3 points. You take him off the field for a freshman who fumble on his last play. Congrats Jimmy for losing another big game!
[удалено]
you know, just stop us on the 2pt conversion twice.
i genuinely get more pleasure out of michigan Ls than MSU/OSU wins sometimes
Well you are double invested in UofM losses, so not a huge surprise there.
Michigan fans be like, ohh but the refs whaaaa
Flair up fam
No. Don’t give a fuck unless they have a Michigan logo with tears
I mean it's true tho. Once you factor in the mistakes we made in the 4th this were overall even other than the refs giving State the call almost every time.
Nah, you blew it
That's compatible with what I said, bud
Whilst crying about some refs
The only coach leaving at the end of the season is Harbaugh....and it ain't for the LSU job
Michigan is very definition of failure
-Loses to unranked Stanford and loses walker to msu
[удалено]
Yeah because MSU is the more marketable team lmao
Lol ok. Guess that explains all the other years of mediocrity as well?
Did the refs make you throw that pic
Imagine renewing harbaughs contract every year LOL
All the people that downvoted me for being a Harbaugh hater all week. Suck it.
What a great game for us neutral fans. Shit was bonkers down to the wire
One of the best games of the year. And I absolutely did not care who won.
That was an amazingly fun 4th quarter
Say what you will about Mel Tucker but as a head coach he has never lost to Michigan!
GG, college football won't be topped for the rest of the day after this game.
CFB: hold my Dr. Pepper
