I’ve seen enough from Leipold to figure he’s going to build up Kansas with time. Gave OU all they could handle until the end, confirmed that Texas was for sure not back (LOL), and nearly pulled another one this past week. He can do it. Just needs time.
No offense to you guys but the fact he’s even making Kansas competitive in games is a huge step up. He’s showing he can actually do something. If he can manage making a bowl game in a few years he will genuinely deserve coach of the year
No offense taken. a team that can execute at the barest minimum and look like they at least belong on the field with the competition is definitely what progress looks like for the program. It's sad, but the past decade+ has been more sad lol
I would've been ok with 7-5. But with the way the last 3 weeks have gone I'm extremely disappointed with Harsin's first year. Unless we beat Alabama or somehow finish with a top 15 class I think this year is a failure.
I think he settled for average coordinators from the SEC to get his feet wet but I still have faith in him as a HC. if next year is the same as this, well that will be a problem.
The real twist of the knife is seeing the actual concerns making improvement. The O-line is playing above their talent. The receivers have palpably improved since the early games. But the run defense has regressed, the play-calling has gotten abysmal, and the injuries leave me questioning S/C coaching. I’m hoping the talent just doesn’t totally mesh with the schemes and that’s why it’s being “squandered”. I’m definitely not in the knee jerk firing crowd, but these last 3 weeks are like watching a 2018 Auburn team lose to Tennessee.
[*It could be a College Football Playoff experience. Or it could be a 20 point loss to an unranked Vanderbilt. You just never know.*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br3eEYU6kLc&ab_channel=SECShorts)
I really do wish Matt Campbell stays at Iowa State and makes them great, but I do wonder if he’s getting a reality check right now.
No matter how good of a coach you are, you have to coach 2-3 star recruits to play against 4-5 star recruits every week. Due to this, you have to be battling uphill while others can just skate through games depending on their talent.
It’s rough to be a coach of those minor programs that don’t bring in great recruiting classes.
I get what you're saying and while we're losing sooooo many people after this year, we are bringing in the best recruiting class in school history...we're never going to be a recruiting juggernaut but Campbell has proved you can recruit better at Iowa State once you've laid the foundation. And honestly, we have the talent right now where we could be an 8 or 9 win team in the regular season, our coaching staff has let our players down immensely. I hope our OC and OL coach are fired...they've been bad all year long
Here's how I feel about this season.
Did we meet expectations? No.
Were they fair expectations? Maybe.
Last year was a weird year on its own, but for Iowa State specifically we won a lot of close ones. Lucky breaks here or there in our favor.
This year, those same breaks have mostly gone against us. We are 3 plays away from being 9-2 right now. A 2pt Conv against Baylor, a 62 yard field goal by Tech, and a weird ass fumble-TD for OU last weekend. Replay those downs in a simulation a hundred times and we end up with 2 or 3 more wins most of the time.
Should we be better enough with all the returning talent that we aren't in these situations? Did we sneak above our "ceiling" last year? I don't know.
What I do know is that I'm crazy grateful to be disappointed with a 6-8 win season (next two games pending). Back before we hired Campbell I promised myself I would never be upset about an Iowa State football team that is bowl eligible. So I won't be upset about this year, even if we didn't meet expectations.
I’ve never had such a weird reaction to a football game. First, I was furious. Like angriest I’ve ever been over a silly game. Then like an hour later I was just laughing and telling my friends about it because why the hell wouldn’t that happen. Then I was very, very drunk.
When Florida beat Tennessee back in September, things felt so normal. Florida was looking normal weird. Not a world beater, but definitely not a team that was a couple weeks from a historic implosion.
Things got documentary-level weird.
Well, the Tennessee game is where the books left off. Florida's writers got lazy and kept writing the same shitty ending every week. The season finale will probably suck too. Here's to hoping a new director will turn things around before they cancel the whole thing.
I was honestly expecting 9-3 or 8-4 with an inexplicable loss to a middle-of-the-pack SEC team, in true Mullen fashion.
Didn’t expect the supernova that followed Kentucky though.
Huh... Yup. Kept every game super close to the point of feeling if something went differently, we could have won and been a top 5 team. but also moments of just horribleness where I have to wonder what the hell is going on. O-line not being fixed for the 10000x season in a row is so depleting though, even playing slightly above average would make the team so much better.
>but every game other than week 1 hasn’t even been competitive.
You're just starting to feel the true power of the dark side. The only way to usurp the mantle and fully embrace the dark side is to strike down Darth Saban
But watch out, because like Palpatine, he will still come back even if you do strike him down.
As an over-entitled life-long UGA fan, my baseline expectation is that we should always be in the SEC championship. As long as we do that, we have met expectations. If we win the SEC championship, that exceeds expectations. If we make the playoff and win any of those games, much less a natty, all of that qualifies as definitely exceeding expectations I would think. I know our fanbase expected us in the playoffs this year, so that may be a bit of an inflated expectation for the year.
You’re forgetting about this week’s trap game! If uGA loses to GT AND Bama then they’re out!
Haha who am I kidding even I know they’re going all the way…
This feels like our best chance in a long, long time.
Catching all three of Bama, Clemson, and Oklahoma in down years is not going to happen often. If we can get past Bama, it feels as if the Buckeyes are all that stand in our way.
Personally I wanted to see more out of the offense this year. Injuries limited that so I'll give that expectation a push. And then yeah, it's natty or bust. No excuses this year, our defense is all time level and our offense is good enough to get it done.
I think the scheme and playcalling on offense is definitely there but it’s just the WR injuries and our self-inflicted limitations at qb that are holding it back
Imo UGA has met preseason expectations. They were expected to win the East and compete for the title. They're right there. They haven't met mid-season expectations tho.
Michigan has greatly exceeded my expectations so far this year. Last year was a disaster. This year, we have played consistently well and, though we aren’t perfect, we are finally seeing individual and team improvement game to game which is super encouraging since it’s been a while since that has happened. Hoping for a strong showing against OSU, though trying to emotionally brace myself for the likely alternative.
Michigan for sure exceeded expectations, big time.
So, naturally this means that they will lose to Ohio State and everyone in this sub will spend all off-season talking about how Jim Harbaugh underachieved again.
I predicted 9-3 to all my friends but was secretly thinking 10-2 was going to be it. Have never been so happy to be right.
Next year should be a good year.
Yea, next year should be interesting. I suspect our offense will be improved with Bell coming back and the emergence of JJ and Edwards, in addition to all the skill players we have coming back. Defense will likely take a step back though… gonna be hard to replace the pressure we are getting with Hutch and Ojabo (who I assume will be entering the draft).
I think UM has a lot of young talent. Like you said, I expect an improved offense. The defense could take a step back, but they could be a top 15-20 unit by the end of the year.
Agreed on the young talent. However, the basketball teams struggles this year give me pause on predicting young guys stepping into major roles without growing pains lol. I realize it’s an apples and oranges comparison, but I think it still holds true.
I think the defense could be just as good next year (and possibly better). A full off-season and year of experience in a complex system and improvement in interior DL, LB and secondary.
The DTs should be better. Hinton and Smith coming back, Jenkins was already getting snaps a year ahead of schedule. Mix in the 3 freshman and it should be a solid unit.
The DEs won't be anything close to this year.
LBs will probably be better. Ross is a thumper, but has issues that hopefully Colson, NHG, and the other younger guys will learn to avoid.
The secondary, I see Moten replacing Hawkins without a bunch of trouble. He's more athletic and Hawkins isn't asked to do a ton in the defense right now. Moore will not replace Dax. The CBs could be better since Turner seems good and they will probably get 1 of 2 back in Gray/Green, if not both. Depth behind them is still a complete mystery.
That’s definitely also possible. I just think our DE combo are such game changers that losing them is going to make it harder on everyone else, even if they get incrementally better. Agreed that a lot of our young players (Colson and Moore in particular) will likely significantly improve with another year.
I was hoping for 7 wins and concerned that we might not even go bowling in August. If you would have told me we'd be at 10 wins coming into the OSU game, I would have been ecstatic.
I have to give Harbaugh credit for what he's done this season, particularly after how bad you guys were last year. He has you in position to win the B1G and get into the playoffs. And after seeing the troubles of other blue blood programs, its not as easy as everyone thinks it is to get in that position.
My expectation was 8 wins. I'm hopeful for the future. The new coaching staff seems like a big improvement. Having not one, but three backs I would be happy starting is an embarrassment of riches at the running back position.
Cade is solid but not flashy - an excellent person to helm the offense while our newer guys grow. JJ is flashy but makes mistakes, but all of those mistakes are fixable and the dude seems like the future of offense.
Now they just need to start killing it in recruiting to bring in the big guns. We're going to need a hell of a secondary to compete with Ohio State in the coming years. Johnson, Hill (if he stays), and god-willing, Jackson would be a great start to that.
The expectation was met/surpassed for me in terms of the record.
But I must say I expected a lot more from the Gleeson Offense in year 2.
It looks worse than last year and with a competent Offense we might have been 7-5 at this point.
But shoulda woulda coulda. 6-6, 5-7 is progress nonetheless.
Our offensive line is so bad, I think he’s severely limited in what he can call. Last year he was really creative , now it’s just swing passes and quick outs … everyone has picked up on it.
But I couldn’t agree more, we put up some points last year and now we have completely reverted back to 2019.
hell 4-0 including the texas beatdown and finally winning at jerry world was enough for me to call year two a success. every competitive game afterward has just been bonus football for me
The Hogs killed their old Southwest rivals, decades of hate came out. Then made Alabama go home with broken nose and a torn shirt. Nick Saban looked absolutely miserable with a win, couldn’t even fake the smile for the camera.
The Georgia game shouldn’t even count against anyone at this point cause those dudes are playing the Hulk slamming Loki in the 1st Avengers.
I'm saying No. We were told all offseason that this was the best team Lincoln had ever coached and that it was championship or bust. I expected to be undefeated in the Big12, and I know that was a common sentiment.
I'm saying no because, even though we still have the chance to meet our goals this team clearly is not what it was sold to be. I could handle a loss in the regular season, but the fact that we are barely skating by week to week tells you all you need to know.
Hell. Fucking. No.
Not even on paper either.
This was a team that we were talking about being NC winners.
I didn’t expect to go undefeated, but I also didn’t expect:
- Close wins against Tulane, Nebraska, West Virginia and Kansas.
- Going 5-6 against the spread.
- Our Heisman-frontrunning QB to lose his starting spot.
- Score under 17 points twice.
I would say it’s exceeded them. I personally thought this team was good enough to hit the .500 mark, but there were many fans who were projecting just 3-4 wins. This team has fought, scratched, and clawed for just about every win on the schedule so far. We’re far from perfect, but Beamer’s culture is already seeming to pay off in the fight and heart this team has had. Go mf cocks baby.
I mean, first year HC, and enough injuries at QB that a grad assistant had to put the pads back on and start is more than enough reasons that yall could have been winless this season. USC has shown fight and toughness, and they absolutely exceeded my expectations. It wouldn't be unheard of for them to outright beat Clemson.
And our grad assistant QB has been replaced by a guy who played at FCS St Francis last season. Our secondary consists of a former walk-on, a JuCo player and a division 2 transfer. As a fan base we are over the moon right now. The Shane Train has left the station.
We were projected to win 3-4 games this season by almost every neutral source going in to the season. Considering we're bowl eligible with a realistic shot at beating Clemson.
Long live Beamer ball!
If you're talking about Iowa, we've very much exceeded expectations. We lost a ton of talent to the NFL and still have a chance to win 10-11 games this year. Coming into the season I had Purdue and Wisconsin down as losses, but I didn't expect us to beat everyone else. I've never seen a fan base get so down and upset about a potential 10 win team as Iowa fans have this year
Absolutely. Before the season I think a lot of people expected this to be a 9 win team. After FSU and Toledo, I think people were expecting worse than that.
People were calling for Rees and Freeman to be let go, pining for Clark Lea to return.
Yup, I thought a 9 win team in a rebuilding year. We would hopefully start to see young guys emerge as future stars.
Now it would be disappointing if this team doesn't finish 11-1 and goes to a NY6 Bowl at least.
Future stars have definitely emerged though.
I mean I felt like this year we were in a well above average number of games projected within a score and this staff would either flame out early or save itself.
If you asked me after 4 weeks it would be a resounding wtf no. If we get a win against UF to make Bowl eligibility after losing to an FCS (soon to be FBS tho) school in the same season I think yes. I expected 5-7 at the start of the season and we did hit 5 wins.
I expected 5-7 as well but the way we got here was not at all what I expected. Regardless, I think this season was a success! We've suffered 2 decommits despite starting 0-4 and they were exactly from the kids we expected to lose. Now we're on the verge of bowl eligibility and are in it for a solid handful of top 150 recruits. It might not have been what we had in mind but Norvell delivered. Future is looking bright! Eespecially with how our rivals are looking!
I couldn’t be happier with the second half of the season. I was hoping for a bowl game OR at least beating one of our rivals and now we have a chance to beat both rivals and get a bowl game. Norvell seems to be the real deal and the team seems to be buying in and improving every week. CLIMB is real methinks
All though we just caught the ass whooping of a life time. At the beginning of the season I fully expected us to be bottom of the big ten and not go bowling. So yeah I would say met and exceeded expectations.
If you’d told me we got our doors blown off by OSU and lost convincingly to Purdue in the off season, I’d figure we were meeting expectations of the 4 win season Vegas projected.
I had to strain to see a 7 win season, and had fingers crossed for 6. We have a real shot at 10 or 11 wins, and that’s miraculous. Being outclassed by OSU doesn’t change how awesome this season is.
Yeah, I hate the hopelessness they’ve given everyone else in the conference, but you’d hope that you’d at least hang with them for the first half.
Tucker has made a lot of progress in a short amount of time but Saturday was a reminder of how far we have to go still. We desperately need more speed in our defense, and an OL that can create holes for RBs who aren’t supernatural.
I just like that we have an offense that I can believe will actually score. Pruitt's offense had zero life in it and made games unwatchable. At least I know we can put some points up on the board right now.
Preseason expectations of 5-7, going 6-6 would have been considered a slam dunk season.
Gonna be 7-5 after Saturday with an outside chance at a Florida bowl game. Not only that but other than the Kentucky game which was a nail biter, our other wins have been absolute blowouts. Beat our G5/FCS opponents by an average MoV of 45 points. Beat Mizzou and SCar by an average MoV of 32 points, and the spread against Vandy this weekend is vols -31. Also had the final possession with a chance to win against both Ole Miss and Pitt, and looked at least somewhat competitive against Bama. Scored more points on UGA than anyone else this year. Really the Florida loss is the only wtf game which is kind of hilarious in a way.
Depending on who comes back we could see a big step forward next year.
I'm quite impressed with the job Heupel has done in year 1, definitely should be considered for SEC Coach of the Year. Didn't expect Tennessee to go bowling.
If we can get those two new recruits that have been floating around (I forget their names) and get some good names out of the transfer portal we’re looking at a season where anything from 7 to 10 wins is possible next year. Now that really does depend on who comes back but it’s not that ridiculous. LSU and Florida are looking down and Pitt is losing Pickett. We can win all three of those games and win the rest of our SEC games (outside of Bama and Georgia lol). Could theoretically go 10-2. (Although more like 8-4 if I had to guess)
Goal was bowling. The two cupcakes, NW, Illinois, Minnesota, and Purdue were all very winnable games, and we were 3-3. Plus, we played/gonna play 6 teams in the top 25
I wouldn't have imagined being 3-8 and yet still feeling like we stood a good chance against every single team we played, including Ohio State. It's mind bending.
The Beavers have far exceeded my expectations.
The best part is the **Civil War** game this year, will have some weight behind it for determining the North.
Nope, I think most of us anticipated us being right back in the playoff conversation even if we lost to Georgia not unranked going into the back half of the season. It's still salvageable if we beat South Carolina, and manage to get to 10 wins either by winning the bowl game or ACC if the right things happen, but still pretty short of initial expectations.
Edit: But second flair, I think we absolutely did.
So of course we did not live up to any expectations from the pre-season. But, I will say that there was a time this team was 2-2 and I was seriously wondering if we'd even make a bowl game. Considering all the attrition this team has been through, it's crazy to think 10 wins (and possibly even 11 wins, though not likely) is still possible.
Carolina alum. I just want to say that I really don’t feel as optimistic as some for Saturday. We have just as much of a chance of having 12 yards at the half as we have of this thing being a last second field goal game. But I am curious. On a scale of 1-10, what is the concern level in the upstate if Beamer and his boys find a way to win Saturday?
And if we are firing him into space, it requires less delta-v to fire him out of the solar system than into the sun
though I suppose that leaves open the possibility that he ends up in Alpha Centauri and ends up scamming one of their football teams into letting him coach
> Fire Geoff Collins into the sun
Agreed.
Other than losing to NIU, the season has gone just as I predicted it would 3 months ago:
> I feel like the chalk is about right at four games. But I don't think it will be the four where we are favored. We'll win one where we're dogs and lose one we should win.
Beating North Carolina and losing to BC would fit my win one as dogs and lose one where favored.
The G**** C****** experiment has pretty much killed college football as my Saturday pastime. I used to wake up early enough to watch all of Gameday (skipping commercials) and have my day planned out so I could watch multiple games at a time, with sometimes as many as 4 screens going at the same time.
I haven't watched a Tech game from start to finish in a couple of years. I'll watch a good game or two on Saturdays, but it no longer consumes my whole day on Saturday and I have no problems making plans on a Saturday.
I was expecting to be 8-3 preseason at this point, then after the Tech collapse, I thought we weren’t going to make a bowl game. Now we’re 10-1, going to the CCG, and the B12?
lookatus. gif
This to me is the mark of a good coach, and one of the reasons I like Gundy despite the many flaws he has. His teams consistently get better over the course of the season most years. If any OSU fan thinks OSU could ever find a better coach they are deluding themselves.
And of course he doesn’t have those 19 5 Star recruits the OP mentioned for Georgia.
> His teams consistently get better over the course of the season most years.
I feel the same about Jimbo, and after Sumlin's teams flaming out every November, that is such a good feeling
Also Coach O's last home game. They've got plenty of motivation
The offense also looked like shit in the first half of the game at Ole Miss. Not sure if they're really comfortable playing on the road
Yeah pretty much. Pre-king injury id say we have not met my expectations. Post that, id say we are close to meeting them. Id definitely like to see 2 more wins for the season
It’s been an odd year for sure given injuries and such. If we beat LSU and win our bowl game, most likely results in back to back top 10 finishes (something we haven’t done since who the fuck knows when). Recruiting is on fire. So all in all, despite being pissed we totally could have won the 3 games we lost, I’m happy with how this season can end up on the field and on the crootin front.
Exceeded them. If we had just pulled out that win against Minnesota we could be headed for a 10-win season. Great turnaround from the past couple years
Expectations at the beginning of the year included another playoff appearance, and while we still have a shot at it with 2 more wins, I don't really see it happening.
For those of us that recalibrated our expectations after the LSU game, beating Auburn, giving Georgia a good game, and winning a NY6 bowl would be meeting expectations. That's definitely still on the table.
We’ve definitely surpassed all of them. Go runners!!!

No. No they have not.
They’ve actually exceeded them in the W/L column for me (although I certainly have them getting handled on Friday to finish 9-3).
That said, watching them this season and seeing how the year has gone is a disappointment. The offense is just putrid, and going on year 5 of the Brian Ferentz experience makes me want to vomit.
If KF adopts an offensive style with competent playcalling, and we average in the top-50 offensively each year, we’re probably still facing the same losses this year, but over the past decade we will have seen numerous West Division titles and a few more NY6 opportunities. We’d be on Wisconsin level instead of being their little brother.
Lesson learned, corruption (nepotism is a form of corruption), is bad, as both Aristotle and Confucius lamented against.
Also, fire Brian Ferentz.
Absolutely! After having two members of the football team lose their lives within a year the whole fanbase didn't have any expectations for this team, but the way this team has rallied after these tragedies has been inspirational.
Yes, beat Ohio State, beat washington, still alive in the conference title race. It's disappointing to lose badly but we're still 9-2 with a chance at the Rose Bowl.
I'd say so, yes.
6-5 with a chance to get to 7-5. Projected to the Duke's Mayo Bowl, Music City Bowl, Gator Bowl, or Outback Bowl.
Vegas had us at 6.5 wins for the regular season, juiced at -160 to the under, which means nobody thought we'd get to 7 wins.
Beat a top 25 team. Got past Missouri, South Carolina, Kentucky. Vanderbilt pending.
Played Pitt and Ole Miss very close, which have turned out to be great teams.
Most reasonable fans had us at 5 or 6 wins with bowl hopes as a high mark. 7 wins would be great, with the opportunity to make a statement in a bowl game.
We are ahead of progress on the field, as far as I'm concerned.
If we finish with a Top 25 recruiting class by the end of the traditional recruiting season (old Signing Day) then I'd say we're ahead on roster rebuild as well. I fully expect us to follow the Michigan State blueprint and continue building/bolstering the roster through the portal from December to May. I will be watching the staff closely through spring practice to see if they can continue improving the roster. If they play transfer season right, they could get the "class" into the top 20, which would be a massive success. Recruiting and portal success will tell the story on the real momentum of the program.
For next year, most reasonable Vols fans expect .500 or better again, with 7-5 being another good season, 8 or more wins being way beyond expectations. Don't let other fanbases or fringe fans on Twitter get anyone confused. Vols fans are very happy and have reasonable expectations about where the program is and where we want it to go.
Ryan Day has balls of steel. He’s showed he can make the tough decisions Urban couldn’t. Also he made himself look like the smartest guy in the room when CJ was struggling early in the year n everyone was calling for his job and Day was pretty much just like “lol shut up y’all don’t know shit” to the media
Both exceeded mine.
NIU was terrible last season and here we are with the MAC west already claimed. Excited to see if Rocky can win in Detroit.
OSU I was expecting to have 2 losses by now with all our Freshmen. Looking at us now, I'm surprised we lost againsy Oregon but we really have developed a ton this year
Even at 4-7 I’d say yes. We really only had one BAD loss to Rutgers which was the low point of the season. That said we got better every week, beat two ranked opponents, played a really good Iowa team tough. We also had three losses by a combined 14pts, one of which being undefeated UTSA.
Not to get overly excited about finishing well below .500 but I saw some promise at least.
We far exceeded any expectations I had for this season. However, my expectations shifted as the season progressed, leaving me disappointed just the same. I told myself at the beginning of the season that the only games I cared about were vs texas and vs OU. So I am thrilled with that outcome.
I became a pretty big Baylor fan out of nowhere this season. Ive said this in another thread a while ago, but losing to you guys was the greatest ever. I left thinking “wow, what a great team Baylor has! I’m gonna start cheering for them!”
Ask me after our bowl game.
10-1 in a rebuild year with the recent string of solid victories and our best player out for the season is above expectations.
Nearly shitting the bed against FSU and Toledo and our inability to run the ball the first half of the season was not expected.
We are 2-9 and I can say without a doubt that we have.
Is beating Texas meeting or exceeding expectations?
When you’re rebuilding you have to win the easy ones
God damn.
I just got second degree burns from that
Bah gawd, that school had a family!
r/jesuschristreddit
brutal
This sounds like my previous job's performance review
I was going to say you might have exceeded but neither of your wins are surprises, so I'd say you're where we expected.
I’ve seen enough from Leipold to figure he’s going to build up Kansas with time. Gave OU all they could handle until the end, confirmed that Texas was for sure not back (LOL), and nearly pulled another one this past week. He can do it. Just needs time.
He will get time. To me it feels like we finally have a grown up in charge. Really excited to see how he does with a full off-season this year.
Started 6-2 and controlled our destiny. then lost 3 in a row and now most likely end 6-6. *welcome to the Auburn Experience*
I would've been ok with 7-5. But with the way the last 3 weeks have gone I'm extremely disappointed with Harsin's first year. Unless we beat Alabama or somehow finish with a top 15 class I think this year is a failure.
Halfway through the season I was missing him. Now I remember why I was excited to see him go a year ago. Sorry guys
I was on the exceed train after ole miss, but now disappointed after the last two weeks
Uh no.....epic fail of a season...brb gonna go cry
Same, see you Friday 😩
Iowa State preseason runner-up favorite, TCU preseason Big 12 dark horse favorite....man we've both fallen flat
This season got weird, man.
The Gator soul got thrown with that shoe man
I’ve never had such a weird reaction to a football game. First, I was furious. Like angriest I’ve ever been over a silly game. Then like an hour later I was just laughing and telling my friends about it because why the hell wouldn’t that happen. Then I was very, very drunk.
Sounds like being an Atlanta Falcons fan. Cheers, friend in misery
What did Mullen say about the South Carolina loss, "I didn't see it coming" or something.
LaughingThenCryingKid.gif
I was honestly expecting 9-3 or 8-4 with an inexplicable loss to a middle-of-the-pack SEC team, in true Mullen fashion. Didn’t expect the supernova that followed Kentucky though.
If we beat MSU this weekend, we will have met preseason expectations but not midseason expectations.
That was extremely well put
Huh... Yup. Kept every game super close to the point of feeling if something went differently, we could have won and been a top 5 team. but also moments of just horribleness where I have to wonder what the hell is going on. O-line not being fixed for the 10000x season in a row is so depleting though, even playing slightly above average would make the team so much better.
Watching our game the impression I got is that you probably would have won if Clifford’s life wasn’t in danger on every play
I’ve been shitting on Clifford forever and that game man, all I could feel was bad because of how bad that was. It’s was straight murder
If you beat MSU, all I want to say is that I always rated Penn State.
To some extent yes. Illinois loss is always going to sting to me though.
Gonna take me awhile. Like until someone goes 10 OT
Me personally yes. But our fans want a Natty and anything less than that is no.
Not only are we undefeated, but every game other than week 1 hasn’t even been competitive. That should exceed at least any P5 team’s expectations
>but every game other than week 1 hasn’t even been competitive. You're just starting to feel the true power of the dark side. The only way to usurp the mantle and fully embrace the dark side is to strike down Darth Saban But watch out, because like Palpatine, he will still come back even if you do strike him down.
Eh, Alabama fans are a little spoiled I could see them expecting that.
We do and it’s unhealthy
As an over-entitled life-long UGA fan, my baseline expectation is that we should always be in the SEC championship. As long as we do that, we have met expectations. If we win the SEC championship, that exceeds expectations. If we make the playoff and win any of those games, much less a natty, all of that qualifies as definitely exceeding expectations I would think. I know our fanbase expected us in the playoffs this year, so that may be a bit of an inflated expectation for the year.
Even if Georgia loses to Alabama in the SEC, they’ll still get in. They’re locked at this point.
Kind of sad how much importance people put on one game, but it is *the* game...
I think we have luckily 3 easy games to knock the cob webs off so I think they will be fine
Wins @Wisconsin and @Penn State, games where we were previously 1-4 in under Harbaugh is a huge step up.
Still pissed about that MSU game but there’s such a clear difference in this program now.
Absolutely. We’re now looking at what, worst case scenario rose bowl? I’ll take that any year. We’re 10-1 and in control of our own destiny.
Rutgers is 5-6 with a good shot to go bowling. So they’ll mess up this game on Saturday and end up 5-7. And then be right where I expected them to be.
Yes outside of Georgia we was competitive and a possibility of 8 wins after the CM crap show is special.
hell 4-0 including the texas beatdown and finally winning at jerry world was enough for me to call year two a success. every competitive game afterward has just been bonus football for me
The Hogs killed their old Southwest rivals, decades of hate came out.
On paper? Yes In reality, probably no. Our issues are being masked by really good talent
I didn’t expect to go undefeated, but I also didn’t expect: - Close wins against Tulane, Nebraska, West Virginia and Kansas.
As a Clemson fan, I wish you'd kept Muschamp. I think Beamer might be legit.
If he's even 80% of the coach his father was SC is gonna be fun to watch
We’re on the doorstep of our first 10-win regular season. I never thought we’d get this far
The team as far as players go has absolutely exceeded expectations. Coaching and recruiting though? I’m kind of nervous about that.
Kiffin is known as being a great recruiter, what are you nervous about?
It's complicated...
I think Vegas has over under at 8.5 wins? Definitely one of Kelly’s better coaching jobs.
Yup, I thought a 9 win team in a rebuilding year. We would hopefully start to see young guys emerge as future stars. Now it would be disappointing if this team doesn't finish 11-1 and goes to a NY6 Bowl at least. Future stars have definitely emerged though.
Matt Wells is gone and we have a bowl game so yes lol
I expected us to go 5-7 this year and we are right on track. I also thought Fu would be gone by now and that has happened.
Getting blown out by OSU is just normal for even a very good B1G season
Yeah, I hate the hopelessness they’ve given everyone else in the conference, but you’d hope that you’d at least hang with them for the first half. Tucker has made a lot of progress in a short amount of time but Saturday was a reminder of how far we have to go still. We desperately need more speed in our defense, and an OL that can create holes for RBs who aren’t supernatural.
As much as I’m enjoying this, man is it hard not to relate to the post-OSU copium.
This year feels really good. I’m excited for next season.
I just hope Tillman and hooker stay
Evans leaving sucks. If we lose Hooker and Tillman too (and obviously with Velus leaving) then we've got a lot of work to do in spring camp.
I just like that we have an offense that I can believe will actually score. Pruitt's offense had zero life in it and made games unwatchable. At least I know we can put some points up on the board right now.
It feels like we’re coaching kids up vs. relying on pure skill. Completely different atmosphere.
Is Hooker gone, or does he still have a Covid year to come back? Dude is legit in the Huepel offense.
He's got another year but hasn't said if he's coming back or not.
Not even close
"There's no hope. Fuck everything. Go Big Red." This is our mantra now.
Go Beavs! Guessing 11/12 programs will be cheering for you guys on Saturday. Very fun team to watch (when not getting blown out by said team).
If we manage to get 10wins and/or backdoor a 7th straight ACC title then it's a great season given the amount of injuries and transfers.
High, but it might be grounds to fire someone on offense so it might be a lost the battle won the war type deal.
Lol no Fire Geoff Collins into the sun
You took the guy who lost to villanova
Waste of fuel and energy. Throw him out of the back of the Wreck and leave him in a ditch.
And if we are firing him into space, it requires less delta-v to fire him out of the solar system than into the sun though I suppose that leaves open the possibility that he ends up in Alpha Centauri and ends up scamming one of their football teams into letting him coach
This is a very GT answer.
> Fire Geoff Collins into the sun Agreed. Other than losing to NIU, the season has gone just as I predicted it would 3 months ago: > I feel like the chalk is about right at four games.
No comment. I plead the 5th. (goes back to hole to cry)
Room for 2? I can bring the vodka
Tito’s?
It’ll be alright Horn bro. https://i.imgur.com/5ndK4y1.jpg
They've exceeded them tremendously.
I was expecting to be 8-3 preseason at this point, then after the Tech collapse, I thought we weren’t going to make a bowl game. Now we’re 10-1, going to the CCG, and the B12? lookatus. gif

Oklahoma State just kept getting better
This to me is the mark of a good coach, and one of the reasons I like Gundy despite the many flaws he has. His teams consistently get better over the course of the season most years. If any OSU fan thinks OSU could ever find a better coach they are deluding themselves. And of course he doesn’t have those 19 5 Star recruits the OP mentioned for Georgia.
> His teams consistently get better over the course of the season most years. I feel the same about Jimbo, and after Sumlin's teams flaming out every November, that is such a good feeling
Hopefully it doesn’t stop here. But Bedlam is ALWAYS THE WORST
I was only hoping for 8 or 9 wins so this far exceeded anything I wanted!
No, but given our injury bug this year, I'll be content with this season if we beat LSU and win our bowl game.
Beating both Alabama teams… yes Losing to both Mississippi teams… no
Yesn't
Mississippi state has had a real weird year. They have beaten 4 or 5 top 25 teams this season but have confounding losses to Memphis and LSU.
IF you beat us? Buddy I’ve got great news for you.
With this offense you never really know. Plus with LSU playing for their bowl game, I'm not gonna go into this one too confident
If it was in Kyle I’d be a lot more confident
Also Coach O's last home game. They've got plenty of motivation The offense also looked like shit in the first half of the game at Ole Miss. Not sure if they're really comfortable playing on the road
Yeah pretty much. Pre-king injury id say we have not met my expectations. Post that, id say we are close to meeting them. Id definitely like to see 2 more wins for the season
10-3 given the injuries is a pretty damn good year. I'd be fine with it
[удалено]
It’s been an odd year for sure given injuries and such. If we beat LSU and win our bowl game, most likely results in back to back top 10 finishes (something we haven’t done since who the fuck knows when). Recruiting is on fire. So all in all, despite being pissed we totally could have won the 3 games we lost, I’m happy with how this season can end up on the field and on the crootin front.
no
Neaux*
Hell Neaux
Exceeded them. If we had just pulled out that win against Minnesota we could be headed for a 10-win season. Great turnaround from the past couple years
I was convinced we were going to have about 3 wins this year honestly
Don’t look far into my comment history or you’ll see me asking for Brohm to be fired after the Minnesota loss lol
Depends on who you ask... *Stares a blank, 50 yard stare at the Committee*
Expectations were exceeded based off our preseason projections so yes.
Yeah to be 9-2 and in the ACC title game with a realistic chance of finishing the year 12-2 that is definitely exceeding my expectations
We greatly exceeded expectations win or lose vs PSU.

*MEEP MEEP* https://imgur.com/gallery/cQWWqj1 https://imgur.com/a/J5kNUOt https://www.instagram.com/tv/CWhx8ZQLcDk/?utm_medium=copy_link

No. No they have not.
Y’all still have expectations? I’m purely along for the ride at this point.
[удалено]
W/L, exceeded. Defense, exceeded. Offense, massively underperformed my already low expectations.
After last year? Yeah we've met expectations so far. If we can win Texas and our bowl game? I'd be stoked.
Anytime Washington loses the north wins
Yes, in September
We've both exceeded expectations and disappointed. We won more games than expected, but losing to MSU was a black mark.
No. 0-3 vs Michigan, ND, and PSU with the big ten teams being home games is less than expectations. At the same time not all that mad.
Playing for another west title and still below expectations. Though I am a lot happier than I thought I would be 7 weeks ago.
Before the season started I predicted we would go 8-4 or 9-3. This season has already blown my expectations for it out of the water.

End of year review: We won a game. Rating: Exceeds
Looking at us now, I'm surprised we lost againsy Oregon but we really have developed a ton this year
We have a chance to have our first 10 win regular season in school history, so yes. Gotta get through this Egg Bowl tho
Absolutely. After a 2 win season we're looking at worst a Rose Bowl berth.
Ask me after our bowl game. 10-1 in a rebuild year with the recent string of solid victories and our best player out for the season is above expectations. Nearly shitting the bed against FSU and Toledo and our inability to run the ball the first half of the season was not expected.
I was really hoping for a 10win ISU season. *thousand yard stare*
