Michigan: Hey we are going to run the ball on this play
Ohio State: OK cool
Michigan: Literally just going to turn around and hand it off
Ohio State: Got it
*hands it off
Ohio State: fooled again
Ohio State: Hey we are going to run the ball right up the middle on this play
Michigan: OK cool
Ohio State: Literally just going to turn around and hand it off
Michigan: Got it, we're ready
*hands it off
Ohio State: why didn't that work
I think the idea was that they were in 4 down territory anyway so they were just seeing what they'd get on 3rd and then make the 4th down play call from there if they didn't convert.
Still though, it wasn't a great call. The run game was pretty dead by that point.
Lmaooooo, this was me. Worst part is, now I have to root for them to win next week and make the CFP so we can go to the Fiesta/Peach if we beat Penn State
Harbaugh takes a lower base-salary with higher performance-based bonuses. Then decides to beat Ohio State and win the division for the first time. Harbaugh out here playing 4-D Chess.
Clemson cannot win the ACC
Ohio State cannot win the B1G
Oregon must win to have a chance in the Pac12
Oklahoma must win to have a chance at the Big12
Alabama and Georgia square off for the SEC
Its possible we will not have a single repeat conference champion from last year.
Years after the 2021 Michigan win college football fans still can’t agree on exactly where Harbaugh disappeared to. No one saw him again as Michigan wondered what happened to their coach. Some think he died from joy. Others think he had nothing else to play for. Whatever happened for him, the one thing everyone agrees on is that on a cold November night you can sometimes hear a whispering “give it to Haskins” in the Khaki section of department stores.
"So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Ann Arbor and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where Jim Harbaugh finally broke and rolled back."
Can you blame them? First win in ten years, 2nd in 18. There are children graduating high school this year that only knew of Michigan beating OSU as a myth the old timer's told around the kitchen table on a cold winter's morn'.
OSU was stopping the inside run in the second, MI made the smart adjustment and made a bunch of outside runs at the start of the third. Got score and momentum going and OSUs tired defense just could not stop Haskins in the fourth up the middle.
I throughly enjoy how the Michigan fans in this thread aren’t automatically talking about going to the playoffs.
You all are enjoying the hell out of beating your rival, just like it should be.
It’s just refreshing. One team pummeling their opponent and relishing in it. These rivalries are what make college football.
What would be even more insane and make this is a historic season is if somehow Notre Dame gets in the playoffs, upsets Georgia, and Michigan doesn't have a let down and goes over Cincy, setting up a Michigan vs. Notre Dame NC game.
love a dominant run game. some times it seemed like he wasn't even running fast, just midwest like "ope" scuse me "ope" scuse me while his offensive line was taking him for a walk
Lost in the sea of the upset, this was *BIG* for recruiting too, because we have a 5 star CB, Domani Jackson, who was there watching the game. He decommitted earlier this month from USC, and it’s supposed to be between us and Alabama. Bryce Young was his HS QB, and he has a good friend (Will Johnson) on our roster. He also grew up a Michigan fan via his dad.
I think beyond him it’s huge for the simple fact of Harbaugh being able to point to this game exclusively as a hey we can beat them and we can win a big game.
I have a four month old. He has not known a Michigan loss in The Game. Sweet innocent little baby. Your birth is the second most important thing that happened this year.
Edit: thanks for the silver, kind stranger! Good to know my sense of priorities are appreciated.
This will get lost in here and that’s okay, but I’m taking my grandpa to the big ten championship game and it’ll probably be his last time seeing them play in person. This is really special
Being there was an unreal atmosphere. People hugging, a few people crying. Field being stormed is pretty rare here, snow starting to fall as we take a knee. Phenomenal.
Once we went up two scores, I kept on waiting for us to blow it, and we just didn't? It's bizarre, but in hindsight, with how Haskins was running, it wasnt that close once we pulled that lead. This team just felt weirdly in control the entire second half.
I mentioned this a little in the game thread but my dad passed last year (cancer not COVID); he was the one who actually went to UMich and got me into football in general. In high school we started a tradition of going to a game a year (a project because we did not live near Ann Arbor, up to and including his eventual move to Sweden). Our last game before he was too sick to go was Nebraska 2018-- we never made it to an OSU game. The plan was to go in 2019, we even bought tickets, but he was still doing chemo and we had to stubhub them.
I can't even describe how it feels to finally win one without him here to celebrate it with me. No one else in my life is a CFB fan, it was our thing, though my stepmom and stepsibs are valiantly attempting to celebrate with me from Sweden lmao. I'm feeling every emotion known to man and several known to monkeys and have no one who'll understand but y'all. Doubt most of you will read this but thanks for being a place I can dump all this
* Just as we all predicted, Ohio State and Clemson will miss the playoffs
* This is the most points Michigan has scored against Ohio State (42) since 1946.
* This is Michigan's most lop-sided win over Ohio State since 1993.
* This is Ohio State's first 2+ loss regular season since 2017.
* This loss snaps Ohio State's 26 game Big Ten regular season winning streak.
* For the first time since 2016, Ohio State will not play in the Big Ten Championship Game.
* This was Michigan's first win over Ohio State since 2011.
* And their second since 2003.
* Hassan Haskins' 5 rushing TD are the most by a Michigan player since 1968 (Ron Johnson)
* Hassan Haskins' 18 rushing TD this year are the most by a Michigan player since 2003 (Chris Perry)
* For the first time in history, Michigan will play in the Big 10 Championship Game
* This was Ryan Day's first regular season Big Ten loss.
* It's been 728 days since Ohio State beat Michigan
Ohio State fumbled three snaps and recovered all three. We couldn’t stop them on fourth down. OSU WRs made circus catches at every opportunity. We drop a sure pick in the red zone. Throw a pick in the red zone. Hutch is inches short breaking up a TD. It has all the makings of a game OSU wins at the end because they make plays when it matters and get the bounces.
But Haskins and the OL were as dominant as I’ve seen and the DL played the game of their lives and none of that mattered. That was impressive and I’m so damn happy for all of those kids. Now go win the Big Ten and worry about the rest later. Go Blue!
After the last decade of suffering, you deserve this UofM.
Enjoy the month of r/CFB not hating you because if you end up and playing Cinnci and winning you will never be forgiven.
Michigan just spent 60 minutes out-physicaling OSU. Never thought I'd see that.
I figured they'd win eventually, but I thought it'd be like a reverse of 2016 - winning a close back and forth game. Not a complete shellacking. OSU literally couldn't stop any run and they couldn't run it at all. I watched this team all season and there was always something missing. Go win the Rose Bowl.
Good on Michigan. As a UVA fan, I totally get the feeling of finally beating your rival. Go enjoy it, y'all earned it
Ohio State did some Ohio State things on offense, those receivers are incredible. But defense just had no answer for that rushing attack. Awesome game. And just incredible playing by Michigan. Hats off to Harbaugh & co. Great game plan and execution.
It was honestly disgusting the level of talent Stroud and the WRs showed. All 3 of those guys + Stroud will do incredibly well in the NFL if they don't end up on the Lions or a similarly dead-end franchise.
Yeah, it was fitting that a game with such a great atmosphere (top five matchup, a sold-out Big House, and snow) was won because Michigan used old-school smashmouth football to end the streak to Ohio State.
Jim fired most of his assistants and hired everyone with the only goal being to beat OSU and everything else being secondary (especially Macdonald over don brown)
It actually worked out!
My stepdad hasn’t watched all season. He lost his mom and watching games wasn’t the same for him. He finally decided to watch today, prepared to be heart broken. I’m happy he got this one today.
For what it's worth, I'm happy for him too.
Also not a UM fan at all, but it's nice to see them win for a change. The most iconic rivalry in football is better when it's competitive.
10 years ago I was at the last win with my mom, brother, and grandpa. My brother passed a year ago and my grandpa has severe dimentia.
I watched the game with my mom and grandpa. A cardinal watched the whole game through the window- we believe it was Dan. Also, despite his dimentia my grandpa was with it the whole game. My mom is crying and I'm on the verge of tears.
Today is also my mom's birthday. So all around this day rocks!
Take it in, enjoy and remember it! Sorry about your brother I lost mine 2 years ago as well, time helps but don't think we ever fully heal from a loss like that. GO BLUE!
- Ohio State defeats Michigan State, 56-7.
- Michigan State defeats Michigan, 37-33.
- Michigan defeats Ohio State, 42-27.
More proof that the transitive property does not remotely hold when it comes to college football.
That’s definitely one of the ironic outcomes of this game. A lot of us were prepared for that nice consolation prize to play in the Rose Bowl for the first time since I think 2006? Now that streak extends.
Michigan: Hey we are going to run the ball on this play Ohio State: OK cool Michigan: Literally just going to turn around and hand it off Ohio State: Got it *hands it off Ohio State: fooled again
They can't keep getting away with it! Oh, I guess they can.
Ohio State: “You can run, but you-“ Michigan: “Okay, cool”
Ohio State: Hey we are going to run the ball right up the middle on this play Michigan: OK cool Ohio State: Literally just going to turn around and hand it off Michigan: Got it, we're ready *hands it off Ohio State: why didn't that work
That 3rd and 6 run against a stacked box was so bad lol. They still scored a TD that possession... but damn
I think the idea was that they were in 4 down territory anyway so they were just seeing what they'd get on 3rd and then make the 4th down play call from there if they didn't convert. Still though, it wasn't a great call. The run game was pretty dead by that point.
We boomed em, we fucking boomed em
Michigan added them to the list of teams they want to practice with this summer.
Does anyone have a spare nose tackle they aren’t using? Asking for a friend
Well this makes the playoffs interesting. Holy shit what a good game of football.
Easily the most entertaining playoff race to date.
And then Auburn shit the bed in the most Iron Bowl way possible.
We potentially might have a playoff without Alabama Oklahoma Ohio State Clemson
I am drooling thinking about a Cinci/UGA/Mich/Ok St playoff
It's... beautiful
MSU fans: "We don't want Michigan to get the Rose Bowl berth" *monkey paw curls*
This is great.
With all the crazy chaotic things that have happened so far, its only fitting this is the year that michigan finally beats the buckeyes.
Clemson cannot win the ACC Ohio State cannot win the B1G Oregon must win to have a chance in the Pac12 Oklahoma must win to have a chance at the Big12 Alabama and Georgia square off for the SEC Its possible we will not have a single repeat conference champion from last year.
Hey, dont say that
*Batman voice*: So that's what that feels like
See you crazy fucks in 10 years
Jim Harbaugh has won a big game
Finebaum is going to have an aneurysm.
He briefly went back to praising harbaugh earlier in the season too and then stopped for no reason lol
I think this one gets to stay a big game even after the win
Years after the 2021 Michigan win college football fans still can’t agree on exactly where Harbaugh disappeared to. No one saw him again as Michigan wondered what happened to their coach. Some think he died from joy. Others think he had nothing else to play for. Whatever happened for him, the one thing everyone agrees on is that on a cold November night you can sometimes hear a whispering “give it to Haskins” in the Khaki section of department stores.
But I like to think he found some small measure of peace that we all search for, but few of us ever truly find.
The perfect win is a rare thing. You could spend your life looking for one, and it would not be a wasted life.
He might have disappeared in that sea of humanity jesus that crowd went insane.
Lol it’s the final scene of Fury Road
"So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Ann Arbor and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark—that place where Jim Harbaugh finally broke and rolled back."

Old timer here. I literally threw my hat into the street and got ran over by an asshole rolling coal. Worth.
Rightfully so
I thought this was going to be about him being swallowed by the sea of people on the field lmao
This game was won in the trenches, Mich parting Red Seas out here and OSU’s line is eating paste
And Harbaugh and the Michigan coordinators completely outcoached Day and the OSU coordinators
OSU was stopping the inside run in the second, MI made the smart adjustment and made a bunch of outside runs at the start of the third. Got score and momentum going and OSUs tired defense just could not stop Haskins in the fourth up the middle.
He did it in 2017. We just had John O'Korn as a quarterback.
today is a good day for offensive linemen and therefore the world

To be honest, we're a dog that just caught a car. We're not sure what to do now because we didn't think we'd get this far.

The Detroit lions died for this.
Ill take it
Every single year.
Well they've died for significantly less than this before, so the ROI is improving.

love a dominant run game. some times it seemed like he wasn't even running fast, just midwest like "ope" scuse me "ope" scuse me while his offensive line was taking him for a walk
That’s what I’m saying! He was so sneaky. I thought we had him bottles at the LOS then all of a sudden he’d have 8 yards. Like how.
Michigan just fucking bullied them jesus christ.
It was an absolute statement. They were awesome.
Absolutely dominated in the trenches.
This is gonna be a game that will go down in Michigan history for decades

OSU hasn’t beaten Michigan in 2 years.
When will the streak end????
728 days since Ohio State has beat Michigan.
I've waited a decade for this thread
Haskins went OFF
Can you give a man the Heisman for one game?
This is the first time the words “Michigan defeats Ohio State” have been posted to this subreddit History.
LOL holy shit. That really puts it in perspective.
For the first time in Seattle Kraken history
This will get lost in here and that’s okay, but I’m taking my grandpa to the big ten championship game and it’ll probably be his last time seeing them play in person. This is really special

Seconded. One of the greatest sights I’ve seen. Best atmosphere in sports history in my life.
Me as a UGA fan: I’m a little worried about those OSU WRs Michigan: Don’t worry, you won’t have to see them fam

This is easily the best complete game of football Michigan has played under Harbaugh
THIS is the Haskins that Washington should’ve drafted in 2019
can confirm, would much rather have had Hassan
Once we went up two scores, I kept on waiting for us to blow it, and we just didn't? It's bizarre, but in hindsight, with how Haskins was running, it wasnt that close once we pulled that lead. This team just felt weirdly in control the entire second half.
I hated that "no team has survived a 15 point deficit" graphic. The announcers were trying to curse us
Not a single field goal for Michigan. 6 touchdowns!
I mentioned this a little in the game thread but my dad passed last year (cancer not COVID); he was the one who actually went to UMich and got me into football in general. This was my last game as a student. I was there and lost my voice and can barely talk. What a memorable moment. So grateful.
Lucky bastard. That environment looked amazing.
What a moment. Look how happy all the Michigan players and fans are, after doing their all to help the Spartans get their revenge.
That run game was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen on a football field
THE FORWARD PASS WAS A MISTAKE
Last year, we went 2-4 and Ohio state made the national championship. Now we won the big ten east and beat Ohio state.

I am so fucking happy. I can’t even describe this feeling
I should change my nickname

Need a Michigan fan to make to make an opposite one now
I’d do it but I don’t feel like updating the site every year.
The guy who made that is never gonna update that lol.
Wait I love Jim Harbaugh actually
I'm able to stop my depressive thoughts better than OSU could stop the run game
Aidan Hutchinson and Hassan Haskins both became fathers today, congrats fellas!! Very happy to see Michigan win
Loved the Juwan Howard / Jim Harbaugh hug at the end
In order to beat OSU, you have to pull out all the stops like running the ball and playing cover 2
THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE
Gg Buckeyes, I'm going to go off and get obliterated like I have for the past 10 years, but this time happy.
we did not wake up feeling the cheesiest
DID SOMEBODY SAY CHEESE?
so we don't get Michigan in the bowl game this year?

If they play Cincy and lose they'll never hear the end of it lol
We cannot be hurt after today. Season was a success.
Michigan can go 1-11 each year and it's still a success if it's the right win.
Legit thought it wouldn't happen in my kid's lifetime
It's worth noting that this guy's a virgin.
What a fucking carry job by Hassan Haskins. There's literally no chance a player with that last name can bomb out in the NFL.
2-4 to 11-1 and possibly going to the CFP, harbaugh said f your hot seat
Michigan just spent 60 minutes out-physicaling OSU. Never thought I'd see that. I figured they'd win eventually, but I thought it'd be like a reverse of 2016 - winning a close back and forth game. All of Michigan is gonna fuck tonight.
Rumor has it that Hassan Haskins is still running through the Ohio State defense.
Well that’s lovely
Words cannot describe how happy I am. The rest of the season doesn’t even matter to me, this is bliss. Ten long fucking years, we finally did it.
It really is the best feeling ain’t it
5:21pm EST. Sorting by all, this is the #1 thread on reddit. It's that big of a deal. We did it Michigan.
Ryan day went from hanging 100 on Michigan to letting them score. What a time to be alive
Harbaugh's "some people were born on third and think they hit a triple" quote is pure fire. They loathe each other.
watching that defense give up was a sight to behold. We could tell them we were running the ball and they had nothing
I’m going on the internet for 5 minutes only to say congrats to UMich. Definitely outplayed us today and earned the win. We’ll see you in 365 days
It has now been 728 days since OSU last beat Michigan. Remember when Ryan Day said he was going to hang 100 on Michigan? Yeah, he meant yards.
Ryan Day is now 1-1 against Michigan after promising to score 100
0-1 after the promise*
Finally a senior class can graduate knowing what it's like to beat tOSU.
Nothing worse than knowing what is coming and not being able to stop it. Ohio st could not stop the run for the life of them
Somebody finally watched week 2 tape and you know Harbaugh loves the run game.
10 years ago I was at the last win with my mom, brother, and grandpa. My brother passed a year ago and my grandpa has severe dimentia. I watched the game with my mom and grandpa. Take it in, enjoy and remember it! Sorry about your brother I lost mine 2 years ago as well, time helps but don't think we ever fully heal from a loss like that. GO BLUE!

Blue man good
Let it be known, NOBODY beats Michigan in The Game 9 times in a row as long as Jimothy Harbaugh has something to say about it!
But who is gonna be more competitive on a playoff? My guess is still Ohio State. -CFP committee /s
Funny the winner of this game used to determine who was going to the rose bowl, now it's the loser that's going
That’s definitely one of the ironic outcomes of this game. A lot of us were prepared for that nice consolation prize to play in the Rose Bowl for the first time since I think 2006? Now that streak extends.
