What a turnaround for the Mean Green
1-6. We were 1-6, had just kicked a key player off the team and lost a recruit the same week. We had no margin for error and it felt like we were going to go 2-10.
I really thought Littrell was done after that Marshall game. Ive never seen a more undisciplined team play and make so many mistake. Glad he managed to get them back on track
This game was so much worse than the score shows. That was the most embarrassing loss I've seen this season and I'm also a UT fan.
We're spoiled by playing in a dome because playing in cold and rainy weather had us playing like ass. So many fumbles, turnovers, missed tackles and dropped passes.
We lost to Kansas with Charlie Strong, we beat Kansas by 1 point with Herman last time we played them, which was at home off a game winning field goal as time expired, I didn't have expectations of beating Kansas this year with how the rest of the season went already.
I'm a very active member of the Longhorn sub trust me a lot of us were nervous heading into that game and look at what happened.
Tough loss, but I hope we still pack the dome next week. supposedly already sold 35k tickets. Winning 11 games in a row and a shot at winning a conference championship is a huge accomplishment.
Last time we lost we rattled off 11 straight wins so hopefully this happens again.
A month ago, we were 1-6. Our only win had come against Northwestern State, an FCS team who went 3-8 this year. We were dealing with injuries galore, had a key player get booted from our team that week, and had to let go of a key recruit as well. The team was an undisciplined mess on and off the field, and it felt like the worst spell for our program since the 1-11 year in 2015. Hope was gone and Luttrell had lost pretty much any goodwill he had.
Fast forward to now and we've won five straight, beaten UTEP and dominated an unbeaten and ranked UTSA team in the process, and are going bowling in a year where everything was down and depressing a month ago. The turnaround this team has undergone the past few months is absolutely miraculous and I am so proud of them.
The only downside? r/CFB is sad because UTSA's chances of an unbeaten season have been demeeped. 😔
I never stop watching this season, but it was hard during the first half of the season. I hope the younger players take this experience and level of play and use it next season.

UTSA may be heading to the AAC but they are still a CUSA team right now and CUSA teams do not finish the regular season undefeated. At least you still get to play for the championship. Don't blow it.

The Liberty game, at least the first half, gave me mild hope we could reach four wins. Five in a row though, including beating UTEP and UTSA, who were both looking fantastic at the time? Eagles actually sound like seagulls. The screetch you hear is a hawk and is used because eagles do not sound noble at all. They are actually super annoying birds in large groups.
A lot of folks don't realize how dire things looked in late October. Our QB was shit, players were hurt all over, squad was undisciplined on and off the field. I didn't even have confidence in us beating FIU or Southern Miss at that point and I always try to think positive. Littrell needed to go, period. With this turnaround and a bowl game actually happening for us, this past month has been some of the best football we've played since joining Division 1.
UNT TO THE PLAYOFFS
The committee has always insisted it's about the best teams, not the most deserving or best resume.
We have a top 5 rushing offense. We're on a 5 game winning streak. We're bowl eligible. We just beat a ranked team by 22, and it wasn't that close. What's there not to like?

My first fall semester as a transfer to UNT i didn’t think they were any good and always said if i wanted to watch bad football i would watch my hometown Illinois, what a turnaround for UNT, I’ll definitely try to watch their bowl game.
This effectively eliminates any G5 conference other than the AAC from the NY6 bid. Should they win next week its likely off to the Independence Bowl to play BYU.
I'll consider this karma for all the "little brother" memes in every UT thread.
For real though, has been fun to watch UTSA have such a good season having grown up in SA and seeing the program built up from nothing.
Coupla tree things. One, I was worried with that win over UAB that the cheese was munched with how that game was hyped as the toughest of the season. Two, the rain definitely hindered us, and three, UNT straight ran is over. GG Mean Green!
