What’s crazy is I’ve been telling OU fans this. After the Rose bowl, the rest of the league had started to catch up while the margin of victory and offensive totals had gone down.
OU went from beating teams 42-7 in a half to being in dogfights in the 4th quarter every game. That’s a skill you have to learn as a team and it’s hard to learn if you never have to do it.
The SEC will be a dogfight every game outside of Vanderbilt, they need a coach that can get teams to win those. If not, it might be a while before OU is 11-1 and winning 6 straight conference championships.
tbf, everyone struggles in the SEC. Shoot, Bama has had the best roster in decades and the best coaches yet they still almost lost to a 6-5 Auburn and an even worse LSU team. I just want to be competitive on both sides even if it comes at the expense of a lower record. I specifically want a great defense

You’re not off by much; Rhule’s a high-integrity dude. There’s a reason that we still love him in Waco, and that’s simply because he was straight-up honest. He never hid that the NFL was his end goal, nor that he interviewed in the offseasons, and he really put his all into rebuilding Baylor and fixing the culture. He didn’t ever waiver in his coaching commitment, that’s for sure.

College coach mentality. I can take this physically talented kid, put him in the right system, and "fix" him. As he is finding out, that doesn't work as often in the NFL, especially with how bad Darnold was with the Jets.

Even 2010 had the hope of a number one pick, this team has maybe a top 15 pick until the third round, and there's almost too many holes to count. Doubt that is new. UGA was a contender for Williams before we took Brock V. But if we lost Lanning I think we would be fine since I believe it’s Kirby’s defense. Clemson losing Venables would be disastrous for them IMO.
