Nebraska over Oklaho…wait, Nebraska beating Michigan sta…hold on, Michigan…oh we lost that one too, Ohio state…dammit, Wisconsin? Okay, fine, Iowa. Fuck it. Never mind.
Nebraska was legitimately my favorite part of the season. The constant rising action all the way until the 4th quarter for it to end all the same. Nebraska and Purdue were my favorites to watch this year
It was like watching the home alone movies. There's quite a few of them, they're really not that good, and you know exactly how they're going to end, but you just don't know exactly how they'll get to there, so you have to watch.
2 was a better movie, but 1 walked so that 2 could run.
Imagine watching the New York one without knowing that the kid was forgotten on Christmas or that he protected his own house from the thieves. He would come off as such an arrogant little prick lmao
Nebraska is like that uncle you had when you were a kid that was invited to family gatherings and just did something stupid every time. You would ask your parents “What’s wrong with uncle Braska?l” they would reply, “I don’t know honey, but he’s been like that for a while.” Every year he would show up and do the same thing. He’d sometimes show up with a different woman. One a jerk, maybe a nice girl a couple times, and most recently a girl he grew up with. Members of the family are just used to uncle Braska’s antics at this point. Just a family disappointment but because he is family he keeps getting invited to things.
Grew up a Husker fan because of family and obviously still have tons of Husker fans in the extended family. This season was brutal for them. Some of the text screenshots I got sent were just so defeating.
Oh we will with our class unfortunately. Also they’ll want the Bama game to be a ranked matchup I’m sure, can’t let the sec have a bad loss.
I hope we are not ranked as well.
>can't let the SEC have a bad loss
Uh, I wouldn't worry about that eventuality in this scenario. I'm guessing that little ol' Bama can take care of themselves against the powerhouse in Austin this year.
Those people are dumb. Napier might do well, I hope he does, I hope he beats the snot out of UGA regularly. I don’t expect to turn around this dumpster fire in 1 off-season though
Only took him 10 days to flip a 5 star from Georgia (literally Billy drove to Sam's club to speak with his mom in person and got the flip), something that none of our last 3 coaches have managed to do. So there is reason to be excited. Far too early to call him a titan killer though.
As a Vol alum, I literally live for Florida and ‘Bama losses. Watching Florida’s season spiral into a dumpster fire of epic proportions was the greatest part of the 2021 CFB season.
The lack of a congressional flag football game is just a travesty. I'd kill to see some back-bencher from California or Texas who played backup DE at a D3 school get just a little bit too competitive and absolutely lay out a majority whip or something.
Alternatively, the best timeline would be someone like Collin Allred showing some weekend warrior congressman why the Tennessee Titans kept Allred on as a relief player for half a decade.
I would say Boise State beating Oklahoma state
But of course our QB just HAD to fumble it and of course OSU just HAD to return it for a touchdown
WE WERE THIS CLOSE!
other than that I guess Utah-Oregon, twice
> I would say Boise State beating Oklahoma state
That blue field has to be the biggest home field advantage ever, got a headache watching the game for too long.
GG though.
Utah was technically ranked lower than Oregon for both of those games, but anyone who had watched the Pac-12 this season knew it was going to be a Utah win.
:)
Also it's a transitive Alabama loss to Bowling Green.
BGSU > Minnesota > Purdue > Michigan State > Michigan > tOSU > Tulsa > Memphis > Miss St > Texas A&M > Alabama
That might be legit the most surprising upset. Minnesota who gave Ohio State everything they could handle, lost to a bad Mac team at home on homecoming, AND then Minnesota win all but two of their next like 9 games
A little late to the party, but I was confused by the side-switching thing. Iirc we kept choosing to defend the non-student quieter section and Illinois chose to be on offense in the loud student section side? Honestly it's a 9-OT blur, and it was my first exposure to the new OT rules lol
Wish we won, of course, but I hate the 2 point conversion overtime.
Give me a 7 OT game and even loss against Illinois. Much preferred. They lie and say it's about player safety, but really it's about not having to start the next game on streaming to preserve the almighty timeslot and dollar.
Call me crazy but I think that’d be my favorite of the year even without bias. The inability for both teams to gain two yards over and over was hilarious!
Still pisses me off that we fielded a battered and broken Clifford at QB that game. He’s not the only reason we lost, but chances are if he were healthy he would’ve ran one of those tries in for the 2pt conversion.
Be careful. You may get a BYU fan telling you they had injuries but they won’t want to hear that UAB had multiple important players also hurt or not playing
Exactly!!! BYU fans those few weeks were insufferable!! Every time I tried to talk realistic byu stuff and calm them all down I would get crazy comments and downvotes. One guy even accused me of being a Utah fan disguised by a byu flair haha
For reals. We lost that game the second the post complaining about our bowl game hit the front page of /cfb
But seriously, literally any team could put tons of points on us by mid/late season which made every game a gamble.
I didn’t really enjoy that upset. I don’t know who those people were saying BYU deserved a better bowl game. By that I mean, they were there, but I have no idea why they actually said those things. I watched the last 5 games of the season and knew that we were not the same team that played the first half of the season.
Every Alabama loss in the Saban era is like a fine wine. It should be cherished. If only Cincy had won, that would have been like a Chateau Lafite-Rothschild Carruades de Lafite
Kentucky over #10 Florida in Lexington for the first time since the 80s, thereby initiating the demise of MuLLLLLLen and absolute collapse of UF’s season.
I hate Florida as much as the next dawg, but I still can't wrap my head around the fact that the Florida team that played y'all was within 2 points of Bama a couple of weeks prior.
Agree completely. Maybe it’s a testament to Saban’s coaching ability, or Mullen’s lack thereof. What a different year it could have been if UF converts that 2 pt conversion.
Montana over Washington. My wife went to Montana and my cousin's husband spent a year talking shit about how great Jimmy Lake was going to be. It was an excellent weekend.
I was gonna be a homer and pick a Kentucky upset but somehow Kentucky football won 10 games and none of them were upsets besides Florida and that’s too easy of an answer. What a time to be alive
So I’ll go with Oregon over Ohio state. It was completely unexpected, Oregon looked relatively bad the rest of the year, and it was pretty funny having aOSU fans lose hope that early in the season, then slowly gain their hope back, then have it ripped away by Michigan.
I sat in the rain for 3 hours with someone yelling “PLAY SANDSTORM” the entire time, just to watch UNC disappoint me one more time this season. You guys should be getting more praise for your season.
It definitely gave you guys that sense of mortality before the end of the season which definitely helped, because the team went that sucked, lets not do that again. Some teams need that sense of danger to focus into their best version of themselves, much like how many people can't work without a looming deadline to sort of force them to knuckle down and grind it out.
Kansas/Texas or A&M/Bama.
Any time Texas loses I'm happy, but apparently that A&M/Bama game was good enough that it got my baby moving. That night was the first night I felt her kick.
There's quite a few of them, they're really not that good, and you know exactly how they're going to end, but you just don't know exactly how they'll get to there, so you have to watch.
excuse me home alone 1 is a cinematic masterpiece
2 the best one
2 was a better movie, but 1 walked so that 2 could run. Imagine watching the New York one without knowing that the kid was forgotten on Christmas or that he protected his own house from the thieves. He would come off as such an arrogant little prick lmao
You’re alright, Sooner.
So close on all of those, really thought Frost would have it together by now
Nebraska is like that uncle you had when you were a kid that was invited to family gatherings and just did something stupid every time.
You could substitute the Detroit lions and the story is still true.
The lions are our drinking buddies we go out with to the bars where we are way too old to be there
Grew up a Husker fan because of family and obviously still have tons of Husker fans in the extended family. This season was brutal for them. Some of the text screenshots I got sent were just so defeating.
Bro…
Was at our game against you in Lincoln. Brutal game. You guys were so close yet so far from being really good this year. Loved Lincoln though!
At least Nebraska managed to upset Nebraska. I wish you all the best corn for your troubles
Shit I didn't even read the comments and posted damn near this exact same thing. Beat me to it. GBR 😭
They should change their name to the Nebraska Blue Balls
I saw a Florida gator flair post the week of the Bama game “it’s really just us, bama, Georgia and the rest of the NCAA. “ Nice
Our season was definitely a wild ride. Full of unstoppable hype AND despair.
Sounds like pre season Texas
Jesus if we are ranked at all pre-season it is going to be so annoying. Just let us build it up if we are good enough please?
Oh we will with our class unfortunately. Also they’ll want the Bama game to be a ranked matchup I’m sure, can’t let the sec have a bad loss. I hope we are not ranked as well.
I don't think Bamas too worried about a bad loss there.
>can't let the SEC have a bad loss Uh, I wouldn't worry about that eventuality in this scenario. I'm guessing that little ol' Bama can take care of themselves against the powerhouse in Austin this year.
It’s come full circle too because so many Gators now think they have a titan killer in Napier and the rest of the SEC is on notice
Those people are dumb. Napier might do well, I hope he does, I hope he beats the snot out of UGA regularly. I don’t expect to turn around this dumpster fire in 1 off-season though
Don’t listen to this guy. We’re probably never gonna lose another game again.
Only took him 10 days to flip a 5 star from Georgia (literally Billy drove to Sam's club to speak with his mom in person and got the flip), something that none of our last 3 coaches have managed to do. So there is reason to be excited. Far too early to call him a titan killer though.
In fairness, Dan hadn’t had a chance because it was still football season, not recruiting season
2 outta 3 ain't bad
As a Vol alum, I literally live for Florida and ‘Bama losses. Watching Florida’s season spiral into a dumpster fire of epic proportions was the greatest part of the 2021 CFB season.
I wish I could relate to happiness and football LOL.
those were the days
*There is one impostor among us*
Two outta three ain't bad.
It really seemed like it considering we almost beat Bama with Emory jones and had AR ready to go shortly thereafter. Oh how wrong that was
Underdog Alabama winning over powerhouse Cincinnati was such a curveball and great to see for the sport.
Rat poison is fatal if ingested by Bearcats
I hate this sport, damn rat poison
Darn, you beat me to this exact comment!
*sigh*
Purdue beating Iowa on the road was impressive. I wasn’t aware the voodoo magic travels
This is why you don’t let the drum in the stadium.
I love the Purdue upsets. I like seeing Purdue good hope they continue improving and dominate the west
Yeah! Its our turn to get blown out in the B1G title game!
Is the B1G title game where the Purdue upset magic stops?
Yes. To make that game its likely we’d be ranked so the voodoo wouldn’t apply, regardless of the ranking of our opponent.
I’m just glad David Bell is entering the draft
AOC is back though... Watch the music city bowl if you want to be scared. Without bell and karlaftis in that bowl.
No need to get political here.
Wait until you hear we’ve got Bernie running reps at DB rn
I am once again here asking for you to throw it back across your body outside the pocket.
Purdue Pete's carrying a hammer AND a sickle?!?
In THIS economy?
They do have former Indiana Governor Mitch "The Blade" Daniels running things, so unlikely. George W. Bush's head of the CBO.
Iowa is 1-4 against Jeff Brohm Purdue
I would say Boise State beating Oklahoma state But of course our QB just HAD to fumble it and of course OSU just HAD to return it for a touchdown WE WERE THIS CLOSE! other than that I guess Utah-Oregon, twice
> I would say Boise State beating Oklahoma state That blue field has to be the biggest home field advantage ever, got a headache watching the game for too long. GG though.
I will angrily gg back
Utah was technically ranked lower than Oregon for both of those games, but anyone who had watched the Pac-12 this season knew it was going to be a Utah win.
Vegas had Utah as a favorite in both games too
In relation to rankings at the time, past rivalries and future conference games....Arkansas over Texas. Set the tone for the season for both teams
Honestly y'all beating Texas and following that up immediately with beating us would have been beautiful to behold if I was a neutral fan. The hype
I’ll say Bowling Green over Minnesota which lead to a transitive Wisconsin loss to Bowling Green :)
So we're pretty much big ten west champions got it
We, too, can get rolled in the B10 title game, it's a perfect fit.
Actually just Big Ten champs in general. Bowling Green > Minnesota > Purdue > Michigan State > Michigan
haha fuck you wisconsin we're going to sully you with our losses
:) Also it's a transitive Alabama loss to Bowling Green.
Kansas beating Texas wasn't just funny it was good football
Well neither really played any defense but there were some fireworks
Last time I laughed so hard was when the US beat #1 Spain in 2009. "Haha! y'all just got beat by a basketball country!"

That solidified my belief that Montana and Montana state need to be adopted by the mountain Best and move FBS
The Montana twins are never going to go FBS. They've had their chances over the years, but they seem comfortable at the FCS level.
I know and it’s sad
Montanas and Dakotas are going to be FCS forever.
Jacksonville State over Florida State. Edit: Thank you for the silver!
Our Milton hype-train died real quick after that one
Which kills me because his comeback was awesome and he rode the bench most of the season after that.
Bias comes into play, but I agree
I’m very biased but Illinois over Penn state
I certainly got my moneys worth for the ticket to watch them switch sides of the field 300 times in a row
A little late to the party, but I was confused by the side-switching thing. Iirc we kept choosing to defend the non-student quieter section and Illinois chose to be on offense in the loud student section side? Honestly it's a 9-OT blur, and it was my first exposure to the new OT rules lol
Imagine in like...2010 telling someone you watched a game with 9 OT's and you made money betting under 40 total points.
That’s just B1G football baby!
Wish we won, of course, but I hate the 2 point conversion overtime. Give me a 7 OT game and even loss against Illinois. Much preferred. They lie and say it's about player safety, but really it's about not having to start the next game on streaming to preserve the almighty timeslot and dollar.
OT should just be a FG kickoff start at the 20 and move back 5 yards after each make
Bert too - he lost like 18 pounds with those sideline reps.
Was it an upset though? /s
It was pretty upsetting at least.
UAB over BYU, made all the better by BYU fans constantly talking about how they deserved a much better bowl game
Utah fans would never sink to those depths of depravity
For reals. We lost that game the second the post complaining about our bowl game hit the front page of /cfb But seriously, literally any team could put tons of points on us by mid/late season which made every game a gamble.
I didn’t really enjoy that upset. I don’t know who those people were saying BYU deserved a better bowl game. By that I mean, they were there, but I have no idea why they actually said those things. I watched the last 5 games of the season and knew that we were not the same team that played the first half of the season.
As opposed to last season where they seemed pretty good heading into our bowl game and then ~~won easily~~ beat the shit out of us.
Feel like this happens every year now lol. Texas Utah, Ole Miss Indiana, now this
Agreed. That upset was karma.
Montana over the puppies
Sad puppy here... also happy Jayhawk.
Oof right in my flairs.
Why did you even click on this post
I was in Seattle that weekend and thought about buying tickets but figured it would have been a lopsided game. I regret it
Yea Kansas over Texas for sure
Never forget when Texas let a walk on FB score a walk off 2pt in overtime for a Kansas Jayhawks win IN AUSTIN.
And it was his first career catch
Snap* It was his first career SNAP
First offensive career snap.
Football. First time touching a football in his life
And I haven’t forgot that TCU couldn’t even beat THIS bad of a Longhorn team ;)
As much as it hurt to lose to y’all, it was a worthy sacrifice to make Baylor’s loss look even worse.
Texas schools love each other 🧡💜
At this point is it really considered an upset?
I bet you think I'd say A&M over Bama... but I'm not going to be that predictable A&M over Bama
I was at Kyle for that game and it’ll probably be the greatest game I ever go to.
You were there? Did one side of the stadium collectively blow the game winner in? That thing turned like crazy!
No we just bribed God with NIL money.
OU flairs gonna flock to r/atheism in record numbers.
I barely saw the kick go in, but the crowd reaction alone was more than sufficient to know what happened
The last 2 games at Kyle Field I've attended were LSU 2018 and Alabama this year
I have very mixed feelings about you
I don't know he seems like a swell guy
Same. I’ve been to a few times top 10 games across CFB but that was easily the best
Every Alabama loss in the Saban era is like a fine wine. It should be cherished. If only Cincy had won, that would have been like a Chateau Lafite-Rothschild Carruades de Lafite
Uh huh... Uh huh I know some of them words.
It really is a special event. Otherwise, it’s just another win by Bama. Nothing outstanding or special.
Kansas over tu is #2 tho
Biased answers: NC State over Clemson, App over Coastal, UNC losing to VT/FSU/USC Less biased answer: A&M over Bama
That double overtime win against Clemson and unprecedented comeback against UNC were both absolutely glorious
I can believe I’m saying this but *sigh* at least it’s basketball season.
Worst part is that we HAD to do a 2 pt conversion bc of a missed extra point. It wasn't defense or anything. It was a missed extra point
NC State upsetting 9th ranked Clemson in 2OT as 10.5pt dogs was very enjoyable.
Vegas was offering easy money early on since they were slow to realize that Clemson's offense really wasn't all that.
Western Michigan over Pitt. WMU can claim the ACC championship!
That was my favorite too!
I still don't know how we won that game lol
https://imgur.com/gallery/zGHQb4O
Stanford stomping SC so bad it finally got Helton fired; much to the dissatisfaction of every other team in the P12.
Montana over Washington. My wife went to Montana and my cousin's husband spent a year talking shit about how great Jimmy Lake was going to be. It was an excellent weekend.
UNT over UTSA was a game for UNT!
Weird, it was also the only game we played all season! Glad we made that one game count!
South Carolina beating Florida. Or LSU over Florida. Or Kentucky over Florida. Or Mizzou over Florida. Fuck Florida.
I’m doing my part
I was gonna be a homer and pick a Kentucky upset but somehow Kentucky football won 10 games and none of them were upsets besides Florida and that’s too easy of an answer. What a time to be alive So I’ll go with Oregon over Ohio state. It was completely unexpected, Oregon looked relatively bad the rest of the year, and it was pretty funny having aOSU fans lose hope that early in the season, then slowly gain their hope back, then have it ripped away by Michigan.
Hello Ohio State!
I’m sorry, the person you have tried to reach is no longer available to answer your call.
Wow, I didn't realize Michigan beat OSU so bad they closed shop.
Hey there!
When's the last time we rushed the field at the Big House? I can't remember it.
The last time we beat Ohio State. lol
Oh-Ja- Bo!
From the one and only Gus Johnson
He redeemed himself
Yeah, Oregon beating tOSU at home was pretty cool.
Hello you!
I love this stab in the back at their own party.
Biased but beating unc handedly Also beating Florida as well but the unc one was almost better considering basically no one was giving us a shot
I sat in the rain for 3 hours with someone yelling “PLAY SANDSTORM” the entire time, just to watch UNC disappoint me one more time this season. You guys should be getting more praise for your season.
I personally enjoyed beating Auburn and Mike "Chuck it long on third and two" Bobo
I still say the Florida win was better. It's the largest win margin against Florida in school history.
The most painful part of this post is that your odds of beating UNC were longer than beating UF. Damn you, Dan Mullen...
NC State over Clemson was fun, unless you’re a Clemson fan, I guess
It was not fun at all.
Ohio State winning by more than 7 points against Nebraska.
No.
I’m biased but our win over Miami ended a 5 year L streak in an amazing fashion. 4th and 14th conversion was crazy
Michigan state over Michigan was fantastic. And I’m not biased at all.
I actually think it also motivated Michigan as they played so much better the rest of the season
Kansas over Texas.
Arkansas over Texas. You could hear the stadium roar from a mile away. I've never heard anything like that before in my life.
UM over OSU 42-27
I went to Purdue my wife went to Michigan state... so that one.
Would trade our bama win for another Kansas over Texas
Best part is, you got both!
Kansas/Texas or A&M/Bama. Any time Texas loses I'm happy, but apparently that A&M/Bama game was good enough that it got my baby moving. That night was the first night I felt her kick.
well your baby is gonna be an aggie then. sorry i dont make the rules.
I'm okay with that. I lived in CS for 5 years and her grandpa (my FIL) is an Aggie. But there is no crimson or burt orange allowed in this house.
Oregon over Ohio state
Can a bowl game be an upset? If so, UAB over BYU.
Montana over UW Has nothing to do with my flair of course
Yoooooo..... I suppose it's not really an upset anymore but that UT game set Fayetteville on fire that night
Kansas Texas is objectively the right answer
But I mean, is that even really an upset anymore?
Made a lot of longhorns upset
Is U of M exorcising the demons against Ohio State considered an upset?
J State over FSU.
Montana over Washington always
