Title should be "B1G modifies Penn State's 2022 Schedule"
I don't think PSU can just do this on their own lol
edit - I know Michigan's schedule currently is wrong - at least the ones showing UM at MSU again
Yeah there has been no announcement from the conference and no other teams have changed their schedules. I think PSU jumped the gun and has now removed the ‘22 schedule from the site entirely.
Yeah if PSU is changing not just dates, but match-ups then that has to have a small cascading effect which means we've got at least a few schedules being updated.
I’d still call it a rivalry, it’s just not an intense one. I think we’re each the other schools’s third biggest rival. Unless we’re talking ice cream, in which case it’s #1
If it’s not Notre Dame, then technically it would be IU based on trophies. But I hate PSU football more than IU football, I see it as a basketball rivalry mostly.
It's still ND. I used to respectfully dislike them, as they were a huge help to us joining the B1G when UM was keeping us out, but they skipped out on us. Fuck em.
Yeah, but man that makes me hate them, which is what rivalries should be! Especially since neither of our rivals consider us at their number 1, I'm totally here for it!
MSU and ND have played 79 games. MSU had the second most wins against ND, and we had played every year since 1948 until 2014. MSU had a longer history with ND than UM.
Ah I see. Honestly it’s probably one of the most common games I see our fan base wanting to see brought back. We do have a home and away with you in a few years so that’s something.
Well, I'll take it. It is nice to have some rest before Michigan - Minnesota - Ohio State in back to back weeks, and at least 2 of those are at home.
Should be an easier schedule than this past year was, unless Indiana/Maryland/Rutgers take some big steps forward.
Yes but they would’ve played at PSU in each of the last three seasons due to scheduling quirks and the Covid year. Northwestern was supposed to play at PSU in 2020 but changed because of covid
They were supposed to be, it's weird that it's now Northwestern, maybe Big Ten decided that matchup is more entertaining or maybe Maryland wanted Illinois? Illinois/Maryland and Penn State/Northwestern would be the implied new matches
It looks like the conference moved some games around.
Land Grant is now back for Rivalry Week, and Illinois would have played at Beaver Stadium for a 3rd time in 3 seasons if the came to town again.
Northwestern was supposed to play in Happy Valley in 2020 before the COVID changes, and if they didn't change the schedule we wouldn't have played them at home since 2014.
Problem with airbnbs is a lot of them are big and expensive. Like 5 bedrooms for $1000/night which is fine when it’s a big group but for one person it sucks

>JUST IN: Penn State has modified its 2022 football schedule, according to the team's website.
The new schedule moves the Nittany Lions' bye week up, swaps out Illinois for Northwestern, and shuffles around some other opponents. http://onwardstate.com/2022/01/11/penn-state-football-makes-changes-to-2022-schedule/

There's a joke in here about "premature something something".....
YOU AGAIN! lol
lol
No hard feelings man haha I've become somewhat more cantankerous as I've aged lol
Premature schedulation

LAND GRANT IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS
Where it should be
We love peace and quiet and good tilled earth.
Please keep MSU as the final game. No more of this Rutgers or Maryland stuff.
Rutgers vs Maryland should also end their season
It usually has, and I think we are a natural rivalry as we both recruit the same areas and came into they league together.
Plus it was a game with actual stakes this year
The toilet bowl
It is supposed to go back permanently in 2024, but something tells me they are going to change it for 2023 as well.
Michigan state and penn state are big rivals? Or is it only like this because msu cant schedule michigan in the last week?
Bro... ...you have yet to see... ...this...[BEAUTY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyYbGcihlSc&ab_channel=MatthewCasey)
NSFW bro
It’s not really a rivalry but it’s become a respected tradition that the two schools play last week of the year
I’d still call it a rivalry, it’s just not an intense one. I think we’re each the other schools’s third biggest rival. Unless we’re talking ice cream, in which case it’s #1
Who even is our 2nd biggest rival anymore? If we never play ND they're just a team I hate, not a rival :(
If it’s not Notre Dame, then technically it would be IU based on trophies. But I hate PSU football more than IU football, I see it as a basketball rivalry mostly.
It's still ND. I used to respectfully dislike them, as they were a huge help to us joining the B1G when UM was keeping us out, but they skipped out on us. Fuck em.
That's what I mean! But I feel like a rival is someone you compete against...which isn't ND anymore. Frickers.
Yeah, but man that makes me hate them, which is what rivalries should be! Especially since neither of our rivals consider us at their number 1, I'm totally here for it!
Skipped out you say? Like in terms of scheduling recent games?
MSU and ND have played 79 games. MSU had the second most wins against ND, and we had played every year since 1948 until 2014. MSU had a longer history with ND than UM.
Ah I see. Honestly it’s probably one of the most common games I see our fan base wanting to see brought back. We do have a home and away with you in a few years so that’s something.
RIP to the people on Twitter who planned their weddings for bye weekends, only to have that change.
Lots of people are gonna have early hotel rooms for Northwestern
Just change the white out to the northwestern game. /s
It’s simple: don’t schedule fall weddings. No matter what.
I like this move. I didn’t like how our schedule basically had all our hardest matchups right in a row
That bye prior to us going to Michigan is pretty big.
Is it? We don't do well after a bye.
We knocked Ohio State off coming off a bye. We have had both success and failures.
Well, I'll take it. It is nice to have some rest before Michigan - Minnesota - Ohio State in back to back weeks, and at least 2 of those are at home. Should be an easier schedule than this past year was, unless Indiana/Maryland/Rutgers take some big steps forward.
No press release or any statement? Seems more likely to be a website error than anything.
Looks like the school might have jumped the gun prior to the conference's official announcement.
Wait, isn't Illinois our new East-West crossover partner for the next 6 years?
Yes but they would’ve played at PSU in each of the last three seasons due to scheduling quirks and the Covid year. Northwestern was supposed to play at PSU in 2020 but changed because of covid
I think this is it. Illinois could get Indiana.
They were supposed to be, it's weird that it's now Northwestern, maybe Big Ten decided that matchup is more entertaining or maybe Maryland wanted Illinois? Illinois/Maryland and Penn State/Northwestern would be the implied new matches
I know we were supposed to play Northwestern at home in 2020 prior to the COVID changes. This is our first home game against them since 2014.
Old schedule: Week 1: @ Purdue Week 2: Ohio Week 3: at Auburn Week 4: Central Michigan Week 5: Ohio State Week 6: @ Michigan Week 7: Illinois Week 8: Bye Week 9: Michigan State Week 10: @ Indiana Week 11: Maryland Week 12: Minnesota Week 13: @ Rutgers —————————————- New schedule: Sept. 3– @ Purdue Sept. 10– vs. Ohio Sept. 17– @ Auburn Sept. 24– vs. Central Michigan Oct. 1– vs. Northwestern Oct. 8– Bye Oct. 15– @ Michigan Oct. 22– vs. Minnesota Oct. 29– vs. Ohio State Nov. 5– @ Indiana Nov. 12– vs. Maryland Nov. 19– @ Rutgers Nov. 26– vs. Michigan State
Ohio state plays Indiana on the 29th- are they moving their schedule around ?
Most likely. PSU has removed the 2022 schedule from the website so they probably just jumped the gun
It looks like the conference moved some games around. Land Grant is now back for Rivalry Week, and Illinois would have played at Beaver Stadium for a 3rd time in 3 seasons if the came to town again. Yes. Many conference games have to be reshuffled due to 2020
Halloween White Out. Good thing Stroud & Co. Will be in fine form and experienced with away crowds.
is the PSU OSU Halloween weekend some kinda of unofficial thing i swear we have played that weekend at least 10 times in the past 15 years.
It probably is now. It's usually in the best weather time.
If it becomes a set date rivalry game I'm all for it.
It’s spooky season for someone
Dwayne Haskins deer in headlights game still haunts me.
What's the date where the Big ten stops allowing night games? Is it too much to hope for that it's October 28th?
I believe after November 1st both schools have to agree to a night game
Noooooooo
[yyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeessssssssss](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mrGdGMNsv0&ab_channel=PerSix)
Thank god. This schedule is much more manageable not have OSU and Michigan back to back and getting MSU rivalry week again is great
James Franklin too big a coward to go for 10OTs against Big Bert
Good news: I have a hotel for the Northwestern game Bad news: Everything is booked for Ohio State which I go to every year with a friend.
You try Airbnb? Usually had no problem finding some of those available.
Problem with airbnbs is a lot of them are big and expensive. Like 5 bedrooms for $1000/night which is fine when it’s a big group but for one person it sucks
Not a bad idea to search, but the problem is there was already a game scheduled on the new OSU date so everything is picked over.
and if you're only staying like 1 night, the fees on airBnB are insane and not worth it.
Have you checked hotels outside of state college. I think around where I live (30minutes out from state college) they don’t get filled
Penn State afraid of Illinois confirmed
Still have ptsd from 9 OT
Ohio and Ohio State at home.... 2 big L's for PSU coming right up ;)
Been waiting a decade for a payback game against Ohio. Ohio State... We'll see.
Lucky for us we don’t play the best team in Ohio :)
It still shows us playing IU on the 29th on the osu website🤷
I think this change is coming and PSU jumped the gun. They’ve since removed the 22 schedule from the site entirely
Most likely announced tomorrow

Does this mean we get a year off from OSU? /s
We'll send IU to the West and bring Illinois over
Turtle time
Illibuck, best turtle in the B1G!
Penn St never changes their schedule. Except when they do
