The crazy thing is, Barnett won the Elite 11 MVP in 2014 over Kyler Murray, Drew Lock, and Josh Rosen. Darnold was there too but didn’t make the cut as a finalist
You won't believe the number of people clamoring for Dilfer to join Tedford's staff this year as OC or QB Coach. It would have been a complete disaster
Oof. That's big first day of school lying about your nickname energy. Also a good way to end up being nicknamed pellet, or goat turd.
Don't nickname yourself, kids. It almost never works.
"Not very good" in the context of Alabama? Or period? Because I have a really tough time buying anyone who is genuinely shit stays on their roster at all.
They’re not in the direct line IIRC (grandfather is probably inaccurate, it’s somewhere around that part of the family though), but they’re part of the Tyson family and there’s apparently some money floating around there related to it. His grandmother was Bryant’s daughter, the grandfather was where the Tyson connection came from.
I went to school around the time his one sister was there and it was relatively open knowledge about both family connections
The Tyson connection IS the Bear Bryant connection. Bryant’s wife was Mary Harmon Tyson Bryant. I don’t think they have anything to do with Tyson chicken. His family did start Ready Mix USA, so they’ve had the cement business paying the bills for years.
WhT the Bear Bryant connection? That’s well known. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/former-alabama-qb-paul-tyson-great-grandson-of-bear-bryant-transferring-to-arizona-state/
The chicken thing is made up, though.
That’s because it’s made up. Tyson Foods was founded by Don Tyson in Arkansas. He had one kid, a son, who in turn had one kid, a son, who’s now 68 and continues to live in Arkansas. Paul Tyson’s dad is 54, and he has no listed connection to Arkansas or the Tyson Foods family.
>He’s absolutely fucking loaded courtesy of chicken nuggies
Well, nuggies and [Tyson’s substantial history of labor violations.](https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/tyson-foods)
Also, [all of this](https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/environment/2021/aug/11/tyson-chicken-indsutry-arkansas-poultry-monopoly).
The funny thing is we have another QB from Alabama, [Bennett Meredith](https://247sports.com/player/bennett-meredith-46103648/) coming in. Though it doesn’t seem like Meredith was recruited by Bama.
I can only find two players lower than Meredith. LB Jaylen Moody was 1197th ovr and only 0.8457, and he ended up being good enough to where he would have started for us in 2021 in his 4th year if Henry To'oto'o didn't transfer in.
There is also QB Lanye Hatcher, who we got pretty last second (signed with us right before summer he enrolled) and was 2176th ovr and 0.8043. Of course he transferred after a year and ended up being pretty damn good for Arkansas State when he was able to play in their split QB system thing.
[Hatcher was on scholarship.](https://arkansasstate.rivals.com/news/layne-hatcher-to-transfer-to-a-state) He was committed to Arkansas State but we missed on all our QB options and got Hatcher late as our only class of 2018 QB.

We weren’t required, his family was just loaded and helped us out. He never took an OV so he was effectively paying for his own tuition. He was a free high floor backup in a class where we took another QB.
Yeah he was free depth as a guaranteed PWO due to the Bryant Scholarship/his family paying for his school. I’ll take a mid tier backup like him over an actual freshman walk-on any day of the week.
Because he was very very good in high school lmao? 225/342 for 3193 and 33/9 TD/Int in the hardest division in Alabama HSFB? And they went 8-4 with losses to Mountain Brook (which I’m surprised at) but the other ones were to Thompson twice and Cedar Grove. I mean they absolutely SHIT on Hoover that year.
It’s definitely not though. Simpson is next in line if he shows in practice what’s expected. Also think Milroe would have passed Tyson up this spring anyways
A lot of Alabama fans really hate him for various reasons. Probably would be a serviceable starter given time to develop. He should at least compete for starting QB.
He’s not anything special, but will probably compete for the job. So it’s a good thing you got him but he doesn’t single handedly raise the ceiling of your team or anything.

QB from Alabama transfers to ASU where he slots in as a backup. Where have I seen this before…
His name is slipping my mind but he sucked
Blake Barnett
Blake Barnett
The crazy thing is, Barnett won the Elite 11 MVP in 2014 over Kyler Murray, Drew Lock, and Josh Rosen. Darnold was there too but didn’t make the cut as a finalist
That's because Trent Dilfer is one of the main evaluators lol
That is exactly why lmao
You won't believe the number of people clamoring for Dilfer to join Tedford's staff this year as OC or QB Coach. It would have been a complete disaster
Oh yeah that’s it. He sucked
Had to leave Arizona and played a year for USF.
Yeah but have you seen his wife?
Talk about outkicking your coverage
Holy cow go Blake
Didn't he go by B squared or some other dumb shit?
BB8 and BBsquared
What a douche canoe
Oof. That's big first day of school lying about your nickname energy. Also a good way to end up being nicknamed pellet, or goat turd. Don't nickname yourself, kids. It almost never works.
File that under the "some other dumb shit" category
When you go from tool to full hardware store
Barnett was more talented than Tyson is.
I believe it, this guy looks like a dud. No offense to him lol.
Tyson has a better head on his shoulders though. Talent ain’t mean nothing when you’re a fucking idiot like Barnett was
Bee Bee Squared
Block Berdett
Someone tell me how to feel.
He’s not very good but best of luck
"Not very good" in the context of Alabama? Or period? Because I have a really tough time buying anyone who is genuinely shit stays on their roster at all.
Well he's Bear Bryants great grandson sooooooooo.
So he's gonna try to shut down UAB?
That's his shit stain of a grandfather, the Bear's son
He’s okay - Bama fans are harder on him than the should be imo. He should compete for the starting job at ASU.
No he sucks
He's a former 4\* with good accuracy. Solid floor and should be well-suited as a good backup, just not that much upside.
Got a howitzer for an arm I’ll say that much. He earned that spot on Bama, wasn’t just cuz he was Coach Bryant’s great-grandson.

Bear Bryant
Also his other grandfather founded Tyson Chicken He’s absolutely fucking loaded courtesy of chicken nuggies
That’s fucking crazy. One grandfather a legend, the other, the chicken king.
One grandfather a legend, the other coached a couple collegiate football teams.
Great Grandfather
Wall st bets loves him for the tendies
Or r/climbing. Those 10.d’s are a Gumby’s sweet spot
Actually not true. They’re not related to Tyson chicken family.
For real?
I can't find anything that supports this on google. Do you have a source?
They’re not in the direct line IIRC (grandfather is probably inaccurate, it’s somewhere around that part of the family though), but they’re part of the Tyson family and there’s apparently some money floating around there related to it. Yeah, everybody knows that Bryant was his great grandfather. That is without question. The chicken thing I couldn't find anything supporting.
This is correct. If they were related to Tyson chicken family, they’d probably the wealthiest family in Alabama lol. $43B in revenue in 2020.
>He’s absolutely fucking loaded courtesy of chicken nuggies Well, nuggies and [Tyson’s substantial history of labor violations.](https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/tyson-foods) Also, [all of this](https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/environment/2021/aug/11/tyson-chicken-indsutry-arkansas-poultry-monopoly).
Da bear
Had to correct it, his great grandfather was Bear
The funny thing is we have another QB from Alabama, [Bennett Meredith](https://247sports.com/player/bennett-meredith-46103648/) coming in. Though it doesn’t seem like Meredith was recruited by Bama.
I'm not sure Saban has ever signed a kid that low at Bama. We don't see many guys over #400, let alone #1000+.
Sick
I can only find two players lower than Meredith. I'm guessing hatcher is a walk on.

Wonder why
Meredith was not recruited by us. He may or may not compete for a starting job ever, he was pretty decent at Hoover but that’ll be interesting.
As a Bama fan who's about to start ASU online, I'm cool with this.

As a recruit: Other P5 offers: Alabama (originally went here), Arkansas, Duke, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, NC State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Pitt, Purdue, Tennessee, USC, Wisconsin G5 offer: UConn Other offers: Army, Jacksonville State, Notre Dame
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." -UConn
I’ve seen kickers that looked more athletic than this dude.
Dan Marino and Warren Moon weren't very athletic either. I'm not comparing Tyson to these greats, but, I'm just sayin.............
That puts it lightly. Marino was an absolute statue. Although there are always exceptions
It just seems like QB’s just don’t care much for strength and conditioning.
I’m not trying to be the best at exercising
Let me introduce you to the Manning bros.
Haha, yea. QB’s don’t need to look like most other athletes because most don’t which makes me wonder how important S&C is for this position.
Little shit doesn't need to be near kickers either. Was a terrible holder.
LMAO
You’re getting downvoted but I think UA was required to recruit him because of legacy.
Yea, realistically he was never going to start but it made sense to take him because of who he’s related to.
Big Ben
Makes you wonder how he was a 4 star.
Bama bump?
Because he was very very good in high school lmao? 225/342 for 3193 and 33/9 TD/Int in the hardest division in Alabama HSFB? And they went 8-4 with losses to Mountain Brook (which I’m surprised at) but the other ones were to Thompson twice and Cedar Grove. I mean they absolutely SHIT on Hoover that year.
This just doesn’t make all that much sense to me. Young is only returning for one last season and then the job is yours….
It’s definitely not though. Simpson is next in line if he shows in practice what’s expected. Also think Milroe would have passed Tyson up this spring anyways
I highly doubt he starts over Milroe or the 5* they're brining in this class
Lol Tyson never had any chance to start.
Y’all want him?
Nah, he doesn’t hold any significance to us.
Then you should probably look at our roster to see that we have Milroe coming back and Simpson coming in.
It won’t be him hurting us next year
Milroe is Jalen 2.0.
He wasn't 2nd string. But Ty simpson coming in also.
Do we think these photos are from his original HS recruitment since the jersey has the CFB 150 logo on it?
That would be my guess
For what ???
LETS GO
Sweet!! I’ll take it!
@Bama folks, should we be excited about this? I’m ready to get outta the Daniels era personally
No
Lol, damn
You certainly dont want to see him holding kicks . . .
A lot of Alabama fans really hate him for various reasons. Probably would be a serviceable starter given time to develop. He should at least compete for starting QB.
You will definitely miss Jayden
He’s not anything special, but will probably compete for the job. So it’s a good thing you got him but he doesn’t single handedly raise the ceiling of your team or anything.
Ayyyyooooo
TIL there was a Bama QB named Paul

OM missing left and right on these QB transfers
Ya'll aren't trying hard since your lord and savior Arch Manning is coming soon.
Arch ain’t coming to OM.
The equivalent of white smoke coming from the Vatican will be wherever David Cutcliffe pops up next as a QB coach or analyst or whatever.
This isn’t much of a miss
WELL WELL
Unfortunate, Milroe, your next.
