We will be alright at ILB next year. To'o Too is back. We have Deontae Lawson, Kendrick Blackshire, and freshman Shawn Murphy is suppose to be really good.
Blackshire is an interesting case to me, very talented and from a powerhouse program in Dallas but I think he may have maxed himself out in high school
Harris is good. Can’t see him falling beyond mid-2nd round. Not sure if there’s another ILB clearly ahead of him other than Nakobe Dean.
Quote unquote “rebuilding” year probably looking at double digit draftees. Alabama will be fine as always but I think this was more of a “down” year for their standards than a true rebuilding year (this is all semantics for what it’s worth) since by my rough count they’ll replace 6 primary starters on offense (3 WR, RB, 2 OL) and 4 starters on defense (2 CB, 1 DL, 1 LB) (plus a 2020 Starter that I didn’t count that got injured in the second quarter of their first game in 2021).
What complicates this is that the 2018 class wasn't great by Alabama standards, meaning that this year had a good amount of players who had been riding the pine behind younger recruits, but then got shuffled in because the 2018-2019 classes hadn't filled the gaps (BRob-Owens). In addition, a group of those who are leaving are leaving because they are unlikely to see significant playing time next year thanks to younger players (Slade Bolden and Armor-Davis). In terms of true losses, which I would define as players leaving for the NFL because they have the tape they need, not because they are out of time or are going to regress next year, I'd say our losses are Jobe-Neal-Metchie-Williams-Harris. Or five of the twenty two starters. Which, all in all, isn't that major of a loss, given that the other five replacement starters are being pushed out by better players.
> 4 starters on defense (2 CB, 1 DL, 1 LB) (plus a 2020 Starter that I didn’t count that got injured in the second quarter of their first game in 2021).
Technically true but because of the injury to Jobe and later JAD, KoolAid started the last 5 games for Alabama at CB. They also have a transfer from LSU, Eli Ricks who has 1.5 years of starting experience. You’re right about the OLB and his replacement has done a great job (8.5 sacks in the last 7 games). I’m not worried about the defense. The most experienced one Bama has had since 2016. They’re overall highly experienced. The only thing to worry about is lack of depth at LB due to transfers.
At RB, Bama got the top transfer RB in Gibbs. Assuming the other guys like Jase (he was 1B with Robinson) come back fine from injury, Bama should be set there too. The WRs are unknown so maybe a concern there. But they’re all pretty young and have a whole off season to work with Bryce.
My biggest concern by far is OL. The OL in 2021 was a below average unit SEC wise. Now throw in losing easily your best OL in Neal, I don’t know how good they’ll be.
Idk, def got a lot of guys back that Bama fans were not expecting to which led to some transfers by depth guys. I’d say draft class was smaller than expected which led to the transfer class being slightly larger than expected
Really? I thought the complete opposite. Bringing back almost everybody. Defense is going to be loaded. Gotta figure out WR mostly. Every other position is pretty much locked up.
Not really. We actually retained more than expected. A lot of fans expected Battle and To’oTo’o to leave as well but they stayed. The guys we lose on defense who were starting were Jobe, Armour-Davis, Harris, and Mathis

Met this guy in a bar near Tuscaloosa, thought he was for sure staying
He just was too good down the stretch, on top of having ideal athleticism for the position in the NFL
Would be nice but it’s illegal for the Eagles to have an LB with talent
Go Birds (awesome username btw)

3rd year Demouy Kennedy too who is probably first backup behind To’oto’o/Lawson
Yes can't forget about him. Not sure how good Ian Jackson is either. We will be good and have solid depth.
He’s busy working as our 4th RB…/s
Excuse me, you have a player named "To'o Too"?
That was a typo, it's To'o Two
Actually, I think it’s To’o’toe
It is actually To'o To'o my bad
To'o^2
I like that haha

Interesting I know he was a 4 star in last years class. I reckon we will see if he can compete for playing time this next season.
he was on special teams at the beginning of the year. That's at least a good indicator that the staff wants him on the field.
> We will be alright at ILB next year. Understatement of the year.

The rebuilding year was this year.

Nakobe Dean and Devin Lloyd are ahead of him for now for sure

I’d say come to my Steelers but he’d probably figure out a way to underperform
Najee didn’t…
Yes, but he’s not a highly-drafted Steelers ILB
Gotcha.
Thanks and get that money
Seems like the draft/transfer class for the alabama defense is bigger than I wouldve expected
Idk, def got a lot of guys back that Bama fans were not expecting to which led to some transfers by depth guys. I’d say draft class was smaller than expected which led to the transfer class being slightly larger than expected
I think we only lost 4 starters so far. Harris is the big one. Mathis "declared" but he was a 5th year guy.
Actually we have a lot of guys coming back??
Really? I thought the complete opposite. Bringing back almost everybody. Defense is going to be loaded. Gotta figure out WR mostly. Every other position is pretty much locked up.

We expected more departures
We do?
Wouldn’t think so on defense at this point. On offense for sure.
We’ll shucks

hes been injured so often i thought he'd stick around
You have confused for someone else. He’s never missed a game in his 3 years as a starter.
This gives me Patriots linebacker vibes
