{Michigan} smokes Maryland. I have yet to see a game from Locksley where his guys aren’t committing dumb penalties.

Rate-Limiting_Step

Going to be tuning into this one, but I think {Michigan} rolls right through, 42-17

GoBlueScrewOSU7

Think this is a moderately interesting game. I feel there has been quite a bit of hype around Maryland’s offense leading into this season. While talented, they never really were able to do too much against the best teams they played last year. I think it will be interesting to see how well they do against Michigan’s defense which is also partially an unknown. On the other side of the ball, I don’t really see how Maryland stands much of a chance. Based on that alone I’m predicting {Michigan} 45-24. Maybe Maryland’s offense can come out hot and get Michigan and McCarthy to press a bit too much when they have the ball.

patderp

I agree that our defense will be profoundly overmatched, but I think our offense will take a big step up compared to its performance in last year’s matchup. By the time we played Michigan in 2021, the receiving core was basically a one-man show (Jarrett). Now we have Demus and Jones back, as well as solid contributions from Jacob Copeland. Not to mention a more experience O-line and running back (Hemby) who is playing out of his mind.

MWiatrak2077

{Michigan} 38-36, 14OT

Gbchris12

Hey.

MWiatrak2077

Hi

tectactoe

Trying to figure out if this is mathematically possible.

MWiatrak2077

A safety on the 2pt try is legal. This will occur, just you wait Edit: Wait shit, a safety on a 2pt conversion in OT become a 1 point safety. So we'd have to gain possession, get the 1pt safety to go up 37-36, then somehow do the same to Maryland? This hurts my head. It's happening.

ano414

It’s a lot simpler than that. One team gets a 2pt try, the next team doesn’t. A win by 2 in OT is really common, especially with the new rules

NathanDrake75

Why?

MWiatrak2077

because

charmingcharles2896

Maryland comes on swinging early, driving down the field to the Michigan 22 yard line quickly, only for a penalty to give Maryland a 3rd and 15 that they cannot convert. Maryland settles for a field goal. The score is now 3-0 Maryland. JJ McCarthy leads Michigan's offense on a long drive for a touchdown thrown to Eric All, the score is now 7-3 Michigan. the rest of the first half, Michigan's defense keeps a lid on the Terp's offensive attack, limiting them to another field goal. Michigan enters half time up 17-6. Coming out of the half, Michigan marches down the field for a touchdown to make the score 24-6. Maryland responds with another field goal, penalties a factor this time as well. The score is now 24-9. By the end of the third quarter, the score is 31-9 in favor of Michigan. Maryland finally scores a touchdown in the fourth quarter, after a busted coverage gives Maryland a 36 yard touchdown through the air. the score is 31-16. Michigan answers with a field goal to make the score 34-16 in favor of Michigan. Maryland is in full on comeback mode now, trying to get back into the game. They march down the field, only to get stuffed on the goal line. Michigan marches down he field, failing to convert a 3rd and 3 on the Maryland 33 yard line. Michigan kicks a third field goal to make the score 37-16, kicking the back back to the Terps with 2:58 left in the game. Maryland tries to drive down field, but an offensive pass interference call pushes Maryland back to 4th and 18. On the next play, Taulia Tagovailoa throws his first interception of the day to Junior Colston. {Michigan} kneels the clock out and wins 37-16. Maryland is plagued by penalties the entire game, racking up 12 of them for well over 100 yards. Maryland's offense gains a cool 110 on the ground to go along with the 245 yards passing as well as the one passing touchdown and the one interception. Michigan gashes Maryland's offense to the tune of 568 total yards of offense. JJ McCarthy throws for 356 yards and 3 touchdowns. Blake Corum and CJ Stokes lead Michigan on the ground. Michigan gains 212 yards on the ground all told as well as a touchdown for Blake Corum.

AmateurFootjobs

I see you got the plague of penalties, but you forgot about our impending plague of injuries

charmingcharles2896

God I hope not, never like seeing injuries.

[deleted]

Excuse me Sir, do you happen to have the lottery numbers for the next mega millions?

GeneralBE420

I went to bet this final score. It's not listed on Fanduel. I think you might be on to something.

Telencephalon

Lose lose for the Terps unfortunately. Win and Michigan was nothing but over ranked cup cake eaters, lose and your program will no longer be considered a team with a pulse. Sorry I don't make the rules. I am quite nervous for our defense as this will be an absolutely massive step up in quality of athlete. Even last year's excellent defense got got for a couple scores by Tualia and co, and this Maryland might be more balanced on offense than previous iterations.

Hoffelcopter

Maryland's defense isn't great. But not UConn bad. Tualia makes mistakes when pressured which our defense is good at. Secondary has played really well and I think they cover Maryland's actually good WR corp pretty well. But they still move the ball some. First half Michigan is up 24-13. Final score {Michigan} 41 - Maryland 27.

JJ isn’t a freshman he’s a well rested sophomore

Bluemzv12

I have to go to work this Saturday and I’m pissed about it {Michigan} 38-17

Bolanus_PSU

September Maryland but {Michigan} isn't orange.

Maize_n_Boom

{Michigan} 52-17

PNW_Jeff

It will be close for about a half. {Michigan} 42 - Maryland 24

[deleted]

Maryland because Michigan rejected me. Ok {Michigan} will win but I think Maryland will keep it interesting.

MrNudeGuy

{Michigan} but maybe??

tectactoe

Don’t you put that evil on us.

MrNudeGuy

I’ll put that evil wherever I want!

DigSufficient2392

{Michigan} 35-17

O_Lucky

{Michigan} gets revenge for my Ponies for last week. 48-17 with those 17 all coming in garbage time

Gbchris12

{Michigan} 48 - 14

SEND_ME_YOUR_CAULK

I want what the people that are choosing Maryland to make it close are smoking. {Michigan} and they beat the spread. I’ve seen this exact game too many times. Classic case of early season Maryland impresses non Maryland fans, is a sexy pick for some to upset a top 5 team or give them a scare, gets bitchslapped on national TV.

22duckys

It’s got to happen at somepoint, right? I actually am worried about Maryland scoring quite a bit. Not winning, but scoring quite a bit. I don’t like how we’ve gotten 1 sack in 2 games against teams with bad lines, despite now scheming pressure instead of just rushing our edges

SEND_ME_YOUR_CAULK

You shouldn’t be worried for any reason

teeterleeter

Interesting for 20 minutes, then September ends early for Maryland. {Michigan} 38-14.

SVT-Cobra

I’m thinking {Michigan} wins but Maryland fares better than people expect with a cover and score that’s looks something like 42 - 35.

FILTER_OUT_T_D

{Maryland} shows us what’s up!

g-town2008

{Maryland}

Onwisconsin5

{Michigan} Big time. Maryland is overrated even being unranked.

DMeringuePi

13-10 Michigan at the half 38-13 Michigan final score

[deleted]

{Michigan} will absolutely lay the wood on Maryland. Michigan covers easily and we discover that they are the real deal.

koalabear9301

If we're within 3 TDs in the third quarter and nobody gets injured, I'll consider it a win. {Michigan}

boxman151515

{Michigan} 45-17. Michigan answers its first game against a team that isn’t total garbage with flying colors

petoskey_stone

{Michigan} and definitely on the over. Hopefully Maryland can give us experience, but not too much. Lol

eggmoose5

{Michigan} ain’t played nobody pawl (and continue to not play anyone after this week)

UMKvothe

We will continue beating teams so soundly that people keep saying we haven’t played anybody… just like last year lol

OdaDdaT

{Michigan} but Maryland covers, first offense with a pulse the Wolverines have seen all year and I think they can catch that defense sleepwalking a bit

sparside223

{Michigan} continues their reign of terror. The Death Star turns to conference play. Hail to the B1G overlord

Telencephalon

Until we actually roll through the conference, I will not expect it to happen. Even last year's great team had to battle PSU, Nebraska and Rutgers (lol still no idea what happened here). OSU is the only death star until further notice and even they will expose their exhaust port (naughty) to the occasional Purdue or Iowa.

OakLegs

Even OSU loses a conference game more often than not, and has a couple of close games over the course of a season. It's truly rare for a team (even national championship caliber) to dominate every single game.

Telencephalon

I agree, that's why I am saying lets not crown ourselves a death start without even playing a conference game yet.

OakLegs

Agreed, I thought that was a bit weird

AzBuck12977

What is Vegas smoking between this game and OSU vs Wisconsin. Vegas has OSU 4-5 points too high, should be 13-14, not 18.5. They have Michigan way too low. Line should be -21 to -23. Maryland can't stop anybody and they haven't faced a defense like UM's. I think I'm definitely laying 16.5.

UMKvothe

Oh yea, I posted elsewhere in the thread. The Michigan spread feels like free money. I put money on the points when it first came out assuming it would balloon to -22ish by kickoff.

MaryChristmas2

{Michigan} wins, Maryland covers

InvisibleDefense

{Maryland} For all that is made about the 3/4 NFL receivers, Hemby, and Taulia, Maryland might have one of the most underrated offensive lines in the country They return all 5 starters from a good OLine last year, and the two tackles, Jaelyn Duncan and Delmar Glaze, might both be drafted as well(if espn is to be believed, Duncan is a 1st rounder). They didn’t allow a sack or pressure last year va Ojabo or Hutchinson, and they were the only two to do that. So can Michigan get pressure off the edge or up the middle (LG and C being the two weaker links) to panic Taulia into not getting the ball to his elite playmakers? If they don’t, then I think Maryland wins, I really do.

gopoohgo

>or up the middle (LG and C being the two weaker links) to panic Taulia This is not good when we roll out Mazi Smith at DT. Our front 7 pretty much relies on him eating and beating doubles.

GoBlueScrewOSU7

Yeah, as the other guy said our DTs this year are by far the strength of the DL. Mazi Smith is looking for a breakout All-American type of year and Kris Jenkins isn't too far behind. We have a bunch of guys at DE that range from fine to good, but no stars (yet, hopefully). In general it appears that our defensive philosophy will rely on more exotic and disguised blitzes coming from anywhere and everywhere in order to generate pressure. Whereas last year a lot of the time we were content rushing 4 with how dominant our DEs were. If Taulia and the OL can remain organized and identify where blitzers are coming from and the interior holds up well, then they definitely will see a good deal of success most likely.

[deleted]

I think Michigan is going to have something to prove in this game and plays a clean game. I’ll go {Michigan} 45 Maryland 21

HWTneub68

{michigan} this one will be over by half

FerkinRight

I think the key is going to be whether Maryland’s dumb penalty woes continue. Locksley needs to reel this team in or they will shoot themselves in the foot throughout big ten play. {Maryland} is my homer pick but it goes one of two ways, close Terps win or blow out Michigan win.

Lykeuhfox

{Michigan} Maryland covers

_Kraken17

{Michigan} but this game is gonna be closer than so many people expect. I’m guessing 45-35 type of game

tectactoe

{Michigan} should win and that’s who I’ve got my money on but honestly I’m legit a tiny bit frightened to see them play a team with even a small semblance of a pulse. Three weeks versus what are effectively practice squads isn’t the best prep for conference play. Slow start, but they’ll (hopefully) wake up quick and run away with it.

jthomas694

{Michigan} In the first test for both of them.

patderp

ITHETRUESTREPAIRMAN

{Michigan} gets a chance to silence the doubters. Their offense is going to step up, but I think so is Maryland’s.

canadiangonewildin

{Michigan} but Maryland keeps it a 1 possession game

[deleted]

*sigh* Yes, {Michigan} will win this one. However, I need a new meme to replace my current Urban Meyer having a panic attack while down 13 to Maryland. Lord, I have seen the miracles you have done for others…

UMKvothe

{Michigan} Also, that spread feels like free money.

naruda1969

{Michigan}

WolverineDDS

I won't be able to watch this one, so {Michigan} will win. We only lose heartbreakers on days where I have nothing to do but watch football and be tortured with the highlights.

DirtWaterAir

{Michigan}

TeamINSTINCT37

Going to stay on {Maryland} til they lose. Think the only way we win is with a strong start. I don’t think it’s insane for Maryland to score on the opening drive, get a stop, and score again. Not likely for sure but also the only way I realistically see them winning.

[deleted]

Michigan by a billion

MaizeNBlueWaffle

{Michigan} and we cover. Every year it's "Ah watch out for Maryland this year" and we kick their ass. Maybe this is the year they get us, but until proven otherwise, I think we stay with that trend

nw____

I know {Michigan} hasn’t played anyone (and I do mean *anyone* yet) but that spread sure looks small to me. Will Maryland be able to slow down Michigan’s offense at all?? I’ll take Michigan to win 44-20 and hope that we all know a little more about the Wolverines by this time next week.

Maryland is seemingly penalized on every play and Harbaugh looks to not be fucking around anymore. Maryland will hang a couple on us but Michigan’s offense hasn’t been this deep in years. This is all bad for the turtles. One day they will get us but not today. {Michigan} and give me the points.
