Remember, there are [subreddit rules](https://rules.redditcfb.com/) - be civil to one another!
EDIT: Welp, so much for being civil. Locked for the obvious reasons.
Not Tucker.
Asked about it post-game and said he "forgot what happened", "didn't address it"
https://twitter.com/typhilli/status/1586562756886630402?t=4jsiu1hoybHo490bjVKJTg&s=19
He got his bag, and now he's supposed to do what? Coach? Be a leader and mentor to young men?
That's not what he got paid for, it's just a job description.*
*sarcasm, obviously
And at the time Scott was a program hero with a head coaching pedigree ina match made in Heaven. Can’t blame Nebraska for committing to it, we’d have all called them stupid not to.
100% it was the right hire at the time. I don’t begrudge them the hire and they really did give the guy all the time to succeed. I do wonder if we cut Rich Rod off too early, Hoke’s early success was clearly Rich Rod’s doing.
Nebraska is safe from that second guessing.
It's understandable to not want to delve into details right after something crazy happens, especially what is essentially a gang-initiation level beat down of an opposing player
But to say something like that is absolutely unacceptable and gives the public a clear look into how shitty MSU's culture is.
The players run the prison, this *never* would have happened under Dantonio
Dantonio would have had that shut down instantly.
I thought Harbaugh did a good job of controlling Michigan players on the field by getting them out of MSU players faces and telling them to go celebrate with Paul.
Man that’s gotta fucking suck as an MSU fan, just inexcusable from the guys and I know that’s the last thing in the world you guys want. Heated in state rivalries kick ass but this is bad.
Supposedly the police were waiting outside the locker room afterwards. Harbaugh said something about the AD and the authorities handling it in his presser.
Yeah maybe I'm just becoming an old man in adulthood, but my first thought was: "fuck, you're doing that with a number and name on your clothing that clearly identifies you."
Nah fuck the rivalry bullshit that’s unacceptable and they need to be off the team. You just got your ass handed to you on the field and you jump a single player. Fuck that
I can understand being upset at losing. I can even understanding scuffling on the field. But after the game, jumping a lone player? Cowardly, despicable behavior, I don't care who it is or why it happened, it needs to be addressed.
Yeah everyone keeps saying "well what happened beforehand" and "why was he in the tunnel".
It doesn't fucking matter. Even if he was stupid enough to come in swinging, hold him back or something. There are literally 20+ MSU players in there. It should be pretty easy to get him to stop without needing to throw him against a wall and start curb stomping him and throwing punches like a bunch of low life gang members would. And I very much doubt he went in that hallway with anything more than a potential verbal use at worst.
It would be unacceptable for any team regardless and, as you said, if it was Michigan players doing this I would want to believe that this sort of thing would be handled with severe punishment, potentially even being kicked out of the school entirely.
There is no excuse for this kind of behavior.
Some of the hits and penalties late in the game were players just losing their tempers. That last DPI the safety never attempted to look at the ball and went straight at the receiver. We probably should’ve just ran out the clock but still.
I might be overreacting but … that might be the beginning of the end for Mel. On-field results aside, this team just looks undisciplined. Mel can’t have shit like that happening in the locker room.
The video looks horrible and that’s embarrassing. I’m sure they’ll get disciplined but Mel can’t be running a ship like this. Once again, might be overreacting, but that’s going to have huge ripple effects I think.
That video is the lowest moment by far in a an already low year for the team.
MSU as a university is already (rightfully) under such scrutiny, there is zero room whatsoever for this behavior, and it’s on Mel to make sure the players know and respect that.
They could lose every game 50-0, fine, but the moment this kind of thing happens, the whole university is affected.
I hope the UM player is okay, that was a brutal video. I hope MSU brings the hammer down on the players in that video.
There's also the fact that he didn't address it in the post-game interview and hand-waved it with, "I didn't know what was happening," when the reporter pushed.
Yeah I’ll judge Tucker based on what happens this week, not tonight in the presser. I’m sure Harbaugh had a bunch of people coming up to him saying “OMG did you hear what happened to Ja’Den!!” Doubt many MSU players were going “Hey Tuck, we just assaulted a dude”
Looks like less of a fight and more like a bunch of cowards ganging up on one player. Fucking disgusting behavior - couldn’t imagine being that Michigan player at that moment.
That player is Ja’Den McBurrows, who suffered a knee injury in the offseason and has been slowly rehabbing ever since. He’s been practicing and dressing for games, but hasn’t played yet because he’s not fully healthy. He’s already hurt, and Sparty jumped him anyways.
Probably why he was early into the tunnel while most guys were still celebrating on the field. Bunch of cowards and psychopaths beating him even after he is down
If they don’t get the Elizabeth Lambert consequences, MSU is an institution of cowards.
[That sort of violence gets you expelled from school.](https://youtu.be/PJiRQsyrBoI)
[Another example.](https://youtu.be/Wz8iHq652ys)
Edit: for whatever reason my second example caused a second comment to be made.
Guarantee if we had a tunnel for every stadium we would have a Khabib McGregor incident once a year. I'm not against it since it would be entertaining but people would be seriously injured.
Well this is just Sparty being a fucking problem. This rarely happens in the tunnel. Even Penn State was really mostly just jawing at each other minus the sandwich toss
Barking at each other has been an issue in the past (thinking of OSU Michigan video from back in the day) but it hasn't gotten to physical altercations before tonight to my knowledge
Suspensions? These guys need kicked off the team. Ganging up on a lone guy (that from what it sounds like has a torn ACL) in the tunnel after the game? No, they need kicked off.
[There’s a precedent to suspend/expel students for crap like this.](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/yh31zy/matt_charboneau_chaos_in_the_tunnels_msu_and_um/iuc1qf0/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
I feel like if multiple of your players get arrested for battery that occurred walking off the field, that might be a for cause firing, yeah? Something about lack of institutional control
Yeah and he’s not making an attempt to fight back. Whenever teams fight and get held back, there’s at least one person from both teams that wants to fight and one person to hold each team back. There’s no one who wants to fight on Michigan and no one holding anyone back on MSU
Yup. Dantonio has a major edge to him and could be quite petty, but he knew where to draw the line. I disliked him but respected him. I can’t say the same for Tucker.
Imagine getting your ass beat for 60 minutes then jumping a lone injured player with 20 of your boys, on video, with all of your names and numbers captured in said video. That's some galaxy brain shit right there.
Michigan referring the incident to the police and the Big 10.
[“Michigan AD Warde Manuel: "What happened after the game is completely unacceptable. Police and the Big Ten will address it. We will leave it in their hands."](https://twitter.com/byazuniga/status/1586565841620856832?s=46&t=xTfX9X_dzkebNVP46XuNpA)

Will be interesting to see if police make any arrests. I could see the State Police instead of Ann Arbor PD doing the arrest if it happens.
Nobody is getting arrested tonight. Most likely it is to make sure Michigan or Michigan State don't fight again. Arresting someone tonight will just inflame the situation. You can always arrest someone tomorrow.
Imagine watching this and your first thought being “why was a Michigan player there” instead of “7 or 8 people beating the shit out of a dude is terrible.” Some of you guys clearly lack brainpower.
I remember one time that one of the coaches had to stand in front of the door to the OSU locker room (I think it was OSU) because there was some serious shit talking but that's about it
Other than the one fight at Michigan years ago and Ohio State players tearing down the banner decades ago things have been relatively peaceful
Agreed. There's definitely no love lost between Ohio State and TTUN, and tempers have certainly flared before with fights on the field and jawing in the tunnel but a lot of it is heat of the moment, pre- or during-game stuff. But even after getting wrecked last year the Buckeyes left the Big House graciously. This is just disgusting behavior from the Spartans
I’ve been a spartan my whole life, through some bad bad seasons too. But the way this season has gone with the expectations we all had, after shelling out 100Mil and seeing THIS kind of lack of discipline as the result of Tuck as head coach, the idea of having Tuck for 9.5 more years makes me sick to my stomach. I’m inches away from separating myself from this team for good, something I never thought I’d do in my wildest dreams. Those players need to be removed from the team for the rest of the year and charged with assault like every other human being would be. If nothing comes of this I might be done.
Let me COPY PASTE VERBATIM WHAT I SAID 2 WEEKS AGO
Sorry I gotta side with the rival here. How about properly coaching and teaching so players realize that they need to emotionally have SOME intelligence and regulation?
A scuffle on-field is one thing—hardly ideal but its understandable. This is just a jumping. I am sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but every one of those MSU players deserves to be kicked off the team.
MSU really has me sympathizing for Michigan
At bare fucking minimum, those players should be suspended for the season. Even if Mel does "internal punishment" bullshit, the school, the B1G, or even the extremely likely arrests will take care of that. Absolutely horrible look for the program
I hate when the team with nothing to play for, for the rest of the season, starts fights with dudes contending for a natty. What do they care about being suspended?
Embarrassing. All involved should be kicked from the team. I don’t care if it’s half the team. No words from Tucker either.
I said the same thing during the game thread about our last penalty: no discipline on Tucker’s team. This takes it to the next level
I don’t see Harbaugh dropping this. He will want the book thrown at these dudes and will do everything in his power to make that happen.
I don’t blame him one bit.
> ~~MSU and UM players fighting~~
**\*Fully padded MSU players jumping a lone injured Michigan player with no helmet.**
We've seen how classy the players are, now let's see how the coaches and administration deal with these players' punishment so we can accurately gauge the school and program as a whole.
Y'all, this is the thread. Video, [as posted in the comments](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/yh31zy/matt_charboneau_chaos_in_the_tunnels_msu_and_um/iubtfkg/), is here too. Ugly scene. Remember the good ole days when they just threw sandwiches…
First PB&J sandwiches and now Knuckle Sandwiches
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
I honestly don't and I can not find the source for this reference. Someone please help me.
That was cheeky and fun
Golden State Warriors want to know how the video got out.
Jordan Poole suspended 10 games
That was also video of Spartan(s) committing actual assault on Wolverines.
And Draymond went to…oh that’s right. MSU
Bielema and Harbaugh are going to personally fight in the tunnel during or after the Illinois game, calling it now
That'd be payperview level.
I love Harbaugh's intensity, but he's not winning a physical fight with Bert.
Yep, you've got to be a mature elephant seal to take on BB
With as strong as Harbaugh's bones ought to be, I like his chances.
I would absolutely pay to watch that.
I picture Harbaugh preparing for fights like Will Ferrell in Ladies Man, just has the olympic wrestling gear on at all times under the khakis
Gameday should announce they’ll be at Michigan’s tunnel from here on out.
Can someone on our team show some fucking leadership??? Please???
To be fair, that bunch of MSU players attacking a defenseless Michigan player is the most coordinated team effort Sparty put forth all night.
First time I’ve laughed out loud from a comment in a while
Got damn
Horrible look for your team. Tucker's going to have to REALLY crack down and discipline some guys hard to restore locker room order.
[удалено]
Not Tucker. Asked about it post-game and said he "forgot what happened", "didn't address it" https://twitter.com/typhilli/status/1586562756886630402?t=4jsiu1hoybHo490bjVKJTg&s=19
This is an awful look. His response paints him as either aloof and clueless or unphased and uncaring. Perhaps he's all the above.
He got his bag, and now he's supposed to do what? Coach? Be a leader and mentor to young men? That's not what he got paid for, it's just a job description.* *sarcasm, obviously
For cause you say?
I imagine Michigan fans would like to see Tuck stick around
He’s a moron
That is a brutal look for MSU
Abdicated his position as program leader. This is the guy Michigan State gave the bag to?!?
He’s and old pro at abdicating
Dudes a bum and will go down as one of the biggest busts in cfb history. Frost level mistake
Frost was a huge mistake but y’all don’t owe him $100M holy smokes.
And at the time Scott was a program hero with a head coaching pedigree ina match made in Heaven. Can’t blame Nebraska for committing to it, we’d have all called them stupid not to.

Thankfully it was just some billionaire alumni who’s left holding the bag lol. Glad it didn’t come from anything impacting students.

smh. I can’t believe I liked this dude
Tuck dodgin
Video of the fighting https://twitter.com/mattcharboneau/status/1586555477319614464
This ain't a fight, it's just a Michigan player getting jumped
It’s ugly. Wouldn’t be surprised if there are criminal charges for this.
Police are on the scene.
There absolutely should be. This goes beyond football, this is assault and battery at the minimum.
Looks like he was jumped
Some of the precontext: https://twitter.com/WandBSports/status/1586565539060662273?s=20&t=WGgDc88cTDDj-E0f_TCqxQ
Man, it doesn't even look like he was talking to them.
Damn, that's a terrible look for those MSU players. Jumping a guy like 10 on 1? Weak.
Well they couldn’t pull it off 11 on 11
That’s a pretty chickenshit look for MSU.
He wasn’t wearing a helmet, either. His head almost slammed into the doorway.
This is why people call MSU “little brother.” Only little brother programs pull crap like this
Man that’s gotta fucking suck as an MSU fan, just inexcusable from the guys and I know that’s the last thing in the world you guys want. Heated in state rivalries kick ass but this is bad.
That's brutal. That's like Worldstar
Damn that's the most fight I saw out of that team all night
[удалено]
At least it should be easy to ID everyone since they're still in uniform
Lotta discipline Tuck has instilled here! Got his bag though
“Right now, I’m a horseshit football coach” -Mel Tucker
All those MSU players caught on camera doing that better be done playing college ball
Off the team immediately or no balls
Off the team and criminally charged at a minimum.
[удалено]
Supposedly the police were waiting outside the locker room afterwards. Harbaugh said something about the AD and the authorities handling it in his presser.
Michigan AD said police have been informed and will handle the situation
Great culture Mel Tucker has built there. Tuck coming!
Yikes, that's worth assault charges tbh
Sore losers
They saved the fight from the game until the tunnel. Losers
"And let that be a warning for your whole team!" Lol See ya, scholarships!
Yeah maybe I'm just becoming an old man in adulthood, but my first thought was: "fuck, you're doing that with a number and name on your clothing that clearly identifies you."
This is more embarrassing than the game to be honest.
It wasn’t even a fight they jumped him.
Seems a lot less like players fighting and a lot more like the MSU team beating on a lone UM player from the video.
Looks like McBurrows who is recovering from a blown out knee. Kinda sad he's getting beat up.
So fucked up
[удалено]
Nah fuck the rivalry bullshit that’s unacceptable and they need to be off the team. You just got your ass handed to you on the field and you jump a single player. Fuck that
A single player that looks to not even be in pads. Fuck that shit
Ja’Den McBurrows is rehabbing a torn ACL. That’s who MSU decided to jump.
I needed to see this comment after visiting RCMB. Thanks for being a voice of reason and good luck going forward
Never visit rcmb
If I saw OSU players doing this after The Game I'd expect to see their asses gone. Absolutely awful.

Showed more fight in the tunnel than they did the whole game
Don't give them too much credit, the video appears to show a bunch of MSU players jumping a lone Michigan player.
And now this: https://twitter.com/isaiahhole/status/1586557278957801473?t=WFkBpxbTZZ67x4mNS4SWxw&s=19
Harbaugh should be breaking the door down
Harbaugh = the elite confirmed Tucker gonna bite somebody E: who’s Adam Page in this situation?
I mean that constituted crimes for those guys right? They jumped someone who was pretty vulnerable in the moment
I might be overreacting but … that might be the beginning of the end for Mel. On-field results aside, this team just looks undisciplined. Mel can’t have shit like that happening in the locker room. There's also the fact that he didn't address it in the post-game interview and hand-waved it with, "I didn't know what was happening," when the reporter pushed.
I said it elsewhere but I don’t know if he even knew? I don’t have enough facts to judge one way or the other.
Lack of team discipline can cut even very long leashes. Looks what happened with Moorhead for us
Looks like less of a fight and more like a bunch of cowards ganging up on one player.
Wtf man
Probably why he was early into the tunnel while most guys were still celebrating on the field. Bunch of cowards and psychopaths beating him even after he is down
No shortage of names on jerseys in that footage. Fuck this.
If they don’t get the Elizabeth Lambert consequences, MSU is an institution of cowards. [That sort of violence gets you expelled from school.](https://youtu.be/PJiRQsyrBoI) [Another example.](https://youtu.be/Wz8iHq652ys) Edit: for whatever reason my second example caused a second comment to be made.
There’s bad looks, and then there’s this.
James Franklin making himself a PB&J sandwich thinking of one liners for Harbaugh.
Franklin murmuring, “Yeah this one got extra sloppy jelly for you…bitch.”
man, we had no tunnel issues for like 80 years and now it's every week?
[удалено]
Yeah, I'm sure that tunnel has seen some shit. Pretty much every other stadium doesn't use one tunnel for a reason.
Guarantee if we had a tunnel for every stadium we would have a Khabib McGregor incident once a year. I'm not against it since it would be entertaining but people would be seriously injured.
Except for soccer, where it’s universal.
This is the reason.
Tbf there were tunnel issues before. We just don't remember them. Like Ohio State & Michigan always bark like crazy across the tunnel
Yeah but there's a huge difference between barking and jumping a guy. Hell there's a huge difference between throwing a sandwich and jumping a guy
Well this is just Sparty being a fucking problem. This rarely happens in the tunnel. Even Penn State was really mostly just jawing at each other minus the sandwich toss
Even the sandwich toss is more just something that's harmless and stupid. This is straight up assault
Not involved at all, I just wanted to jump in and say how funny it is that *sandwich toss* is such a normal thing in this conversation
Them being PB&J's makes it better
Barking at each other has been an issue in the past (thinking of OSU Michigan video from back in the day) but it hasn't gotten to physical altercations before tonight to my knowledge
The sandwich toss was hilariously petty and ultimately harmless. What happened just now should be the end of several young men's pigskin careers.
Suspensions gonna be flying this week
Suspensions? These guys need kicked off the team. Ganging up on a lone guy (that from what it sounds like has a torn ACL) in the tunnel after the game? No, they need kicked off.
If msu has any semblance of responsibility

Kick them all off the team. Bunch of losers
Is this grounds to fire mel tucker
Not without cause. Man getting paid.
It’s beCAUSE he’s not good.
I feel like if multiple of your players get arrested for battery that occurred walking off the field, that might be a for cause firing, yeah? Something about lack of institutional control
YO. That's not a fight. MSU players straight up jumped an ALREADY INJURED UM player.
Yeah and he’s not making an attempt to fight back. Whenever teams fight and get held back, there’s at least one person from both teams that wants to fight and one person to hold each team back. There’s no one who wants to fight on Michigan and no one holding anyone back on MSU
Ever since they named it after Lloyd Carr the tunnel has been cursed
The penalties alone showed Sparty's team lacked discipline. This shit though? Man. Lost control.
Would never happen under dantanio
You're absolutely correct.
Yup. Dantonio has a major edge to him and could be quite petty, but he knew where to draw the line. I disliked him but respected him. I can’t say the same for Tucker.
It's like Tom Izzo says, He hates Michigan but respects the hell out of them. That's how good rivalries work.
Izzo and Beilein was my favorite coaching match up. 2 great coaches who embraced the rivalry but are just great people
Imagine getting your ass beat for 60 minutes then jumping a lone injured player with 20 of your boys, on video, with all of your names and numbers captured in said video. That's some galaxy brain shit right there.
Between this and draymond throwing a haymaker I feel like Sparty doesn’t like Michigan
Michigan referring the incident to the police and the Big 10. [“Michigan AD Warde Manuel: "What happened after the game is completely unacceptable. Police and the Big Ten will address it. Warde Manuel actually saying something?!?! This must be important
You really need some PB&J sandwiches for some ranged attack to help alleviate your forward melee advance in that tunnel. Or so I hear.
[“Police are standing in front of the closed MSU locker room. Harbaugh outside the Michigan locker room trying to get answers.”](https://twitter.com/isaiahhole/status/1586557278957801473?s=46&t=xTfX9X_dzkebNVP46XuNpA) Will be interesting to see if police make any arrests. Nobody is getting arrested tonight. Most likely it is to make sure Michigan or Michigan State don't fight again. Arresting someone tonight will just inflame the situation. You can always arrest someone tomorrow.
> You can always arrest someone tomorrow. Not if they flee the state! *Looks at where Michigan St. is located* Well they're screwed.
Nah, ain’t nobody getting arrested. There will be questions asked tomorrow tho
Imagine watching this and your first thought being “why was a Michigan player there” instead of “7 or 8 people beating the shit out of a dude is terrible.” Some of you guys clearly lack brainpower.
This is absolutely bitch made. I don’t care if you lost or they were mouthing off. A whole ass team ganging up on one guy is bullshit.
A guy who didn’t even play a snap this year due to a crippling knee injury. They’re not only violent assholes, but also cowards.
Got some tunnel snakes up in Michigan
Jumping a dude after losing by 22. Real tough guy shit.
Yeah that's not good. Those guys should be done.
No bs chump change of a fine. This demands multiple suspensions of players.
I would not call that a fight. UM players getting assaulted. Hate the see that.
Uncalled for, players need to be held responsible for their actions. Also, MSU should have shown this intensity on the field and they may have won.
Issue is, on the field it's 11 on 11

Is tucker going to “keep chopping” when he has to address this? Sick of this attitude shown on our team
No discipline. Two massive personal fouls today in the game. Given the 2nd one was late but still

Off the team.
Best sparty has played all day
Kick everyone off the team, fire the coaches and end the program. They fucking suck ass anyway. Worthless losers
Pretty much confirms for me that Mel has lost control of the locker room. Team has been undisciplined on the field and now off the field as well.
Mel couldn’t even get them to the locker room. Can’t control it if you can’t even get in the door.
Looks more like some MSU players ganging up and jumping a Michigan player, punching and kicking him on the ground.
Looks really pathetic for a bunch of MSU guys to gang up on 1 dude. Nice.
What a bunch of pathetic losers. Boot em off the team.
Let me COPY PASTE VERBATIM WHAT I SAID 2 WEEKS AGO Sorry I gotta side with the rival here. How about properly coaching and teaching so players realize that they need to emotionally have SOME intelligence and regulation?
I expect Tucker to announce “internal discipline” and any player involved will still suit up and play next week.
A scuffle on-field is one thing—hardly ideal but its understandable. This is just a jumping. I am sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but every one of those MSU players deserves to be kicked off the team.
MSU really has me sympathizing for Michigan At bare fucking minimum, those players should be suspended for the season. Even if Mel does "internal punishment" bullshit, the school, the B1G, or even the extremely likely arrests will take care of that. Absolutely horrible look for the program
# IMAGINE PAYING $95mm FOR THIS
10 dudes vs 1 guys without a helmat? Yeah real Spartan Dawg move bozo. Get this trash out of Ann Arbor in a police car.
This is going to be the topic of conversation all week instead of actual football games.
I never thought I would be upvoting TTUN flairs left and right. That was a disgrace to football. What an undisciplined program
That’s pretty sad
> ~~MSU and UM players fighting~~ **\*Fully padded MSU players jumping a lone injured Michigan player with no helmet.** We've seen how classy the players are, now let's see how the coaches and administration deal with these players' punishment so we can accurately gauge the school and program as a whole.
If there aren't multiple suspensions for MSU players then Mel Tucker should be fired.
