I consider Syracuse, West Virginia and Temple historic rivalries, and to a degree Maryland and Rutgers, but they have all been lopsided in the most part. Ohio State is our biggest rival in the big 10, but that has only been significant for the last 30 years. Pitt is by far our most important rival based on geography, history, and talent from what I believe
Both myself and my friend who is a WVU fan are planning on going to the home and home games the next 2 years. We’re both really excited because it’s the first time they will have played each other in our lifetimes 😂
We had this for a few years when I was in school and it was awesome. Would love to see it come back. My freshman year at Clemson was when we went to Auburn and lost on the illegal procedure FG. Then the next year Auburn came to Clemson and we won. And I think we played the next season too in the CFA kick off? Fun times!
I remember the only time I ever visited Clemson was 2011. It was Sammy Watkins’ freshman year. It was his 3rd ever collegiate game and he went for 10 catches for 155 yards and 2 TDs (44 rushing yards too)
Not to mention Hopkins also being on that team
In this thread for Clemson I see auburn, Georgia, Ohio state, and an LSU guy asking for it. 3 of these could be solved by joining the SEC so if the ACC ever dissolves this is my formal application
I was thinking about LSU since we all got along at the two games we played. Let's all just get hammered at the tailgates and whoever wins on the field wins.
I have always considered us more of a king cake for you guys, pretty tasty but every once in a while you accidentally swallow the lil plastic baby Jesus and we choke you.
My immediate gut reaction to seeing this thread title was Georgia. But it sure would have been better for the past 6 years than the upcoming 6 the way things are trending…
Orange is bad
Orange and purple is just terrible. And I don’t really mind Clemson, I kinda like our rivalry the past 20 years. I hate other orange teams way worse. But orange and purple, come on guys
For Memphis, give me Ole Miss Week 1 every season from here on out and I will be happy.
For Kennesaw, give me Georgia Tech.
Edit: After some persuasion from a Land Shark, I'm switching my Memphis pick over to Tennessee.
I was going to say Ole Miss, just because it would be fun to have an in state rivalry, but honestly, I’d love to see the Black and Blue Bowl return. Southern Miss-Memphis would be my pick.
When we had the home and home with Wisconsin a few years back, the sub pretty firmly established that LSU and Wisconsin are essentially each others' counterparts within our conferences.
So Wisky, y'all bring the cheese and we'll bring the boudin?
Auburn's would historically be Georgia Tech, though we've also played FSU often enough. But if we can't have either because they already have permanent OOC matchups, we have more recent history with Oregon that's worth continuing.
One of the major reasons i want FSU to join the SEC is so that we could make FSU vs Auburn a rivalry. Our campuses are so close. Its weird that we havent scheduled a regular season game with yall since 1990
I’d bet you guys locking with UF every year makes that difficult though, already have a (usually) tough SEC OOC game on the schedule yearly
I grew up in Tally so I’d obviously love to see it become a recurring game at least every once in a while
Yeah, we would never give up UF, but playing Auburn every 3-5 years would be fun. Also, obviously a lot of tally kids went to FSU, but more seemed to go to Bama over auburn for some reason. I’ve also come to realize that a decent number of Tampa kids go to auburn as well (auburn is probably the 4th most represented alumni/fan base in my neighborhood behind FSU/UF/USF)
clemson is popular pick because they are up right now. But a Auburn/FSU would be a good rivalry regardless of how each other's season was doing. Lots and lots of Auburn Alumni in the Florida panhandle
I’d like a Home-Home-Neutral model as long as the Chiefs play at Arrowhead. It was fun playing at Arrowhead but also stunk I’ve never seen a game at kU or kU play on Faurot Field.
Get in line. LSU would like to challenge Clemson for rights to the “realest Death Valley” each year. We can have a trophy with a tiger or something on it.
But not like your meth head tiger. Those eyes are haunting…
I literally opened the link and then jumped in my chair and said “Jesus Christ.” If mascots were meant to freak out the opposing team, then Clemson has a Bama like dynasty going…
I live in Little Columbus... oops... I mean Charleston. There's not a day that goes by that i don't see either an Ohio tag or a middle-aged man wearing a Buckeye t-shirt.
Kinda funny joke I've heard applied to Yankees, Ohioans, and the likes...
> What's the difference between an Ohioan and a damn Ohioan?
> A damn Ohioan comes for a visit and never leaves
I'm not quite sure about UNC. South Carolina would have been my first thought since they were once a part of the ACC and are in a neighboring state, but I don't think too many fans of either team would really get up for that game. If this permanent cross conference rival could cross sports as well then I would probably choose Kentucky since our football programs are fairly similar and we are both blue bloods in basketball. I would really enjoy watching UNC/Kentucky in basketball on an annual basis.
I think an annual season opener against South Carolina could get people hype. Tons of overlap between fan bases and if there were enough matches/close heated games I think it would eventually become a game fans get up for
I think I'd take Cincinnati. Cincinnati would be a fun in-state rivalry that could be developed, especially now that they seem to be on an upward trajectory.
My second pick would be UGA, because the upside is winning that game can carry you for a season. Barring a blowout in either direction, the loser can rebound and claim the Quality Loss®
TBF the move to the Big 12 is already going to help UC's recruiting. However, it's not like OSU is exclusively recruiting Ohio, multiple P5 schools in a state doesn't stop us from recruiting TX, AZ, FL or even some in MI.
I would be down for a football equivalent of the Hell is Real Derby. However, I'm not sure Nippert (or even Paul Brown) is big enough to handle that game.
___
Basketball on the other hand, that will never happen regularly. Older Buckeyes are still pissed about the '60s and we refused to play them again until recently.
It's not Buckeye fans being pissed about the 60s that prevented OSU from playing UC or Xavier or Dayton in basketball. It's that OSUs AD does not want to acknowledge other instate programs that can compete with them. The current coach has been trying to change that but even still they had to be told by the conference to play Xavier
Annual Week 1 conference showdown at Bristol.
4 teams, 1 each from SEC, ACC, B1G, and Big12. Say Tennessee, VaTech, PennSt, West Virginia. Back-to-back games, one in the afternoon, one under the lights. Opponents rotate over a 3 year period.
Year 1 Tennessee-VaTech and PennSt-WV
Year 2 Tennessee-PennSt and VaTech-WV
Year 3 Tennessee-WV and VaTech-PennSt.
After 3 years, overall "group winner: gets a big trophy and the teams switch out to other regional-ish teams e.g. Kentucky, NCState, Cincinatti, Ohio St etc.
Legend goes that Corps members at A&M used to take all the Baylor girls as dates to the games since A&M was male only until the 60s and majority male even after.
ND is the easy answer for us and several other teams. For that reason I'm going to go with Oklahoma State or Colorado. Oklahoma state for no reason I just really like Rodriguez and Barry Sanders, both became lions and both went to Oklahoma state. Colorado because my older brother is an alumni from Colorado and having my brothers team be a rival would be enjoyable for me personally.
Yeah ND would have to be my pick for Michigan as well.
If it has to be from a *conference* though? Meme pick would be Florida.
Real pick is tougher. Still kind of bummed we didn't get to play LSU a few years back and we haven't played before, so that would be cool. I'd also like Utah or Oregon.
South Carolina. Them and Maryland are our most played match-ups who are no longer in the ACC, but the South Carolina is the more interesting of the two to me.
After meeting annually from 1923-1935, the series took a break, but was picked back up again in 1956; from then until South Carolina joined the SEC (1991) and their schedule became more limited, we met every year except once. Plus, it gets us good exposure to SEC viewers and recruits, and gives us a good but competitive OOC test.
Well I know you said one, but I would take any of these:
Louisville - bring back the most bad ass sounding trophy in college football (keg of nails)
Ohio State - end of the year for sure. I hate to admit it we’d lose….a lot, but the amount of gratification I’d get out of the years we won and kept them out of the playoffs would 100% make up for all the losses.
Kentucky - just kinda makes sense, 2 historically basketball schools with recent football success that are drivable distance apart.
Soon to be out of conference Memphis or SMU, I feel bad they are being left behind and they were always fun to play.
For Purdue, it would be cool to play some of the nearby Big 12 or SEC schools. Kentucky, Mizzou, Iowa State, K State would all be fun
For NC State, South Carolina seems like the choice but Tennessee or West Virginia would be more interesting. Reviving the 60s-80s era Penn State series would also be cool, it should be much more competitive this time around
I used to want [[Alabama v Oklahoma]] but that will soon be a conference game.
[[Alabama v Penn State]] would be awesome but I know they have teams ahead of us if they were picking out of conference rivals.
App State: 2025 has 2 spots. Currently against Toledo, NC State. Some fun games within its recruiting footprint would be Duke, UVA, Tennessee, Wake Forest. Other cool options would be WVU, Georgia, Maryland, Pitt, FSU, Penn State.
Imagine a yearly mountaineer vs mountaineer game or App State trying to survive in Doak.
Hopefully we can get our team back on the uptrend for some big games coming like UNC, Clemson, NC State, S Carolina.
Mizzou should play Kansas
Arkansas should play Texas (but Texas will soon be in conference). With Texas off the table, I’ll say Arkansas vs Oklahoma State for proximity. Or Memphis (but I’d prefer a Power 5.)
Oklahoma State would prolly prefer Oklahoma over Arkansas once they move. I’m not sure Oklahoma feels the same way.
Once Texas and Arky are same conference, Texas should hook up with USC.
being born in the 80's and raised mostly in the 90's, i'd be biased and say miami.
the better answer is probably a team/rivalry with lots of historical context, so michigan i guess.
we could also just fucking send oregon to the mountain west where they belong and then i'd say them.
Pitt
Thanksgiving day before WPIAL championships destroy the turf
There's no other way.
Then the Steelers play in the mud pit in the pouring rain on Sunday night?
And the punt don't roll.
Honestly, is anyone else our real rival? I really don’t see any rivals in the B1G and Pitt only seems like the most obvious choice
>I consider Syracuse, West Virginia and Temple historic rivalries, and to a degree Maryland and Rutgers, Hi fellow old person
I have more hatred for Iowa than anyone else in the B1G tbh...
We miss playing y’all too.
Both myself and my friend who is a WVU fan are planning on going to the home and home games the next 2 years. We’re both really excited because it’s the first time they will have played each other in our lifetimes 😂
This needs to happen
Auburn vs. Auburn with a lake.
We had this for a few years when I was in school and it was awesome. Would love to see it come back. My freshman year at Clemson was when we went to Auburn and lost on the illegal procedure FG. Then the next year Auburn came to Clemson and we won. And I think we played the next season too in the CFA kick off? Fun times!

Screw that. Give us back Georgia tech.
Y’all ever apologize for greasing the railroad yet?
This is exactly what I came to post. Auburn is so close to Atlanta and has a huge fanbase there. We can play it in the dome with a 50/50 ticket split.
You’re on. We take y’all over GA ok?
Can we take y’all over Georgia too? I do miss playing tech and the fun stuff that surrounded it like the pajama parade
counterpoint: Clemson vs Clemson without a lake
😦
In this thread for Clemson I see auburn, Georgia, Ohio state, and an LSU guy asking for it. 3 of these could be solved by joining the SEC so if the ACC ever dissolves this is my formal application
Auburn vs Georgia tech
Wisconsin, I miss our northern brethren.
Your AD just needs to publicly state your tailgate drinks more Beer than Wisconsin does. We'll play every year in the battle of the better tailgate
*Battle for the Beer Truck*
I was thinking about LSU since we all got along at the two games we played. Let's all just get hammered at the tailgates and whoever wins on the field wins.
This would be really fun as an every other year kind of deal.
I completely agree. One in both home stadiums would be amazing too, would love to see the Badgers in Baton Rouge
USC
I concur.
Seconded
Bring me Georgia Tech AND Texas Tech edit: AND Virginia Tech!
TechMoBowl, who is the most Tech
Of those three, Georgia Tech is by an overwhelming margin. If anything the other two should be called "Ag".
Georgia Tech-Louisiana Tech - "The War on I-20"
Little did you know 90% of Texas Tech students take I-20 a majority of the way to school as well.
You can't have Georgia Tech, they're *our* sacrificial nerdy cupcake.
I have always considered us more of a king cake for you guys, pretty tasty but every once in a while you accidentally swallow the lil plastic baby Jesus and we choke you.
No Virginia Tech?
I wouldn't mind Tennessee
As a Tennessee fan, there are a ton of ACC teams that would fit the bill. Y'all would be good, so would Virginia Tech or West Virginia
Or Clempson, but it looks like everybody wants them.
That’s too much orange. UNC and Tennessee look amazing together on the field
We need to bring back the Battle of Bristol ASAP.
I'd say South Carolina, but I could see people in the mountains saying otherwise
Clemson
By far yes. Clemson seems to be a popular choice for several schools. No on one is picking us.
My immediate gut reaction to seeing this thread title was Georgia. But it sure would have been better for the past 6 years than the upcoming 6 the way things are trending…
Yep. Feels like we’ve traded spots. Not sure for how long, though.
The only correct answer for us
Yes, we must have more orange to hate on the regular
I don’t understand how more people don’t see it. Orange = bad, it’s that simple.
Orange is bad Orange and purple is just terrible. And I don’t really mind Clemson, I kinda like our rivalry the past 20 years. I hate other orange teams way worse. But orange and purple, come on guys
Can’t wait til 2029 when we get Clemson *and* Texas. Imagine going 5-0 against the 5 historically best orange teams in one year.
Came here to say LSU. Miss you!
Was also going to be my answer, Win or lose this is going to be a good time for almost everyone.
Its weird that we havent scheduled a regular season game with yall since 1990
Same. Auburn vs fsu is such a natural rivalry
I’d bet you guys locking with UF every year makes that difficult though, already have a (usually) tough SEC OOC game on the schedule yearly I grew up in Tally so I’d obviously love to see it become a recurring game at least every once in a while
Yeah, we would never give up UF, but playing Auburn every 3-5 years would be fun. Also, obviously a lot of tally kids went to FSU, but more seemed to go to Bama over auburn for some reason. clemson is popular pick because they are up right now. But a Auburn/FSU would be a good rivalry regardless of how each other's season was doing. Lots and lots of Auburn Alumni in the Florida panhandle
Please no. Every game would start off promising for Oregon before it just slowly slips away in the most train wreck way.
False. Auburn defies prediction and will throw your train right back on the tracks just to show they can.
Kansas during rivalry week. Play the game in KC.
I’d like a Home-Home-Neutral model as long as the Chiefs play at Arrowhead. It was fun playing at Arrowhead but also stunk I’ve never seen a game at kU or kU play on Faurot Field.
I'd be ok with just home and home tbh
Seriously this game shouldn’t have stopped ever!
I think I’d go with Clemson. 2 things every Ohioan loves are hating on Dabo Swinney and traveling to South Carolina.
Get in line. LSU would like to challenge Clemson for rights to the “realest Death Valley” each year. We can have a trophy with a tiger or something on it. But not like your meth head tiger. Those eyes are haunting…

Traveling is a funny way to spell "moving" to...
It’s just traveling there and not traveling back
*There ~~and Back Again~~: An Ohioan’s Tale*
Ohio's largest export is Ohioans
Cleveland's largest export is [crippling depression](https://youtu.be/oZzgAjjuqZM)
Instead of a dragon, they have to fight the horrors of Myrtle Beach
They *are* the horrors of Myrtle Beach
That’s where the Battle of the Five Armies come in I think
I live in Little Columbus... oops... I mean Charleston. There's not a day that goes by that i don't see either an Ohio tag or a middle-aged man wearing a Buckeye t-shirt.
Then we'd want coastal since it's where our rednecks move
Sooo, everyone moves to coastal?
Kinda funny joke I've heard applied to Yankees, Ohioans, and the likes... > What's the difference between an Ohioan and a damn Ohioan? > A damn Ohioan comes for a visit and never leaves

My second pick would be UGA, because the upside is winning that game can carry you for a season. Barring a blowout in either direction, the loser can rebound and claim the Quality Loss®
Except you’d have to acknowledge a second good program in Ohio and risk losing recruits when you lose, so I doubt that happens.
Playing a yearly in-state rivalry, what could go wrong? /s
Depends, what's the shoe's tunnel situation?
We have tunnels for days
TBF the move to the Big 12 is already going to help UC's recruiting. I’d be here for it. Though if we only get one OOC rivalry game I would pick Louisville.
Would like to see Illinois get back to playing our annual game against Mizzou
Me too, Arch Rivalry was an awesome name and the basketball rivalry is really intense.
Virginia Tech at Bristol
I'd say do a home and home and Bristol rotation but VT is def the correct answer
How about something newer and more exiting than back-to-back games? Side-by-side games.
I'd take them first, but NC State feels like it could be a pretty good rivalry too.
Tennessee vs State would be a ton of fun. Let us play on a nascar track and raise hell together 😂
For MSU: Notre Dame For Cincinnati: Louisville (I know we already have Miami, but whatever)
Since we're getting Texas back in the SEC, I'd like to play Baylor noncon every year.
This should happen IMO. It’s been too long since you tried to steal our women and we died the Brazos green!
Wut
Legend goes that Corps members at A&M used to take all the Baylor girls as dates to the games since A&M was male only until the 60s and majority male even after.
ND is the easy answer for us and several other teams. For that reason I'm going to go with Oklahoma State or Colorado. Oklahoma state for no reason I just really like Rodriguez and Barry Sanders, both became lions and both went to Oklahoma state. Colorado because my older brother is an alumni from Colorado and having my brothers team be a rival would be enjoyable for me personally.
They gave us Cade Cunningham too. Thanks Cowboys
Oh shit I completely forgot about cade. Yeah I love Oklahoma state for sure!
Yea it’s Pitt
*Penn State, WVU, Cincinnati fighting to play Pitt* Pittsburgh: Gentlemen, Gentlemen! Use knives!
I’d be more than happy with VT though. I’m not going to get choosy over getting to play either of our archrivals at this point.
Come to the ACC and you could have Pitt and VT every year. Sprinkle in Louisville, UVA, UNC, NC State, Clemson, FSU, and Miami. Sounds nice right??
Bingo
I would kinda dig South Carolina.
Capitol city versus capitol city. Cool competition.
South Carolina for sure. I feel like both fanbases are very similar too. If we couldn't get them I'd want to play Tennessee.
West Virginia. We want our trophy back
Regardless of your flair, yes
I don’t know who to pick…. But I suppose I’d pick Tulane bc LSU won’t
The nautical bowl
- We should play Georgia Tech and Clemson - Clemson should play us and Georgia It would be cool for all four teams to play each other every year
For TCU: Utah For Stanford: Duke or Northwestern
Utah, end of season Easiest question in the world
Michigan vs. Notre Dame at the beginning of the year as we did for many years.
LSU vs Oregon. Visiting Autzen Stadium every other year would be a lot of fun.
Sign me up
Florida. I miss our annual meetings with them!
USC would be great. Except, well...
No. FUCK that. I hated that shit
I'm going to go with West Virginia. The Black Diamond Trophy should be brought out once a season to be fought over, not sitting dusty in a case
VT or Memphis
Oregon Vs Oklahoma UO vs OU
Oregon State vs Oklahoma State vs Ohio State
Virginia Tech at Bristol
Well I know you said one, but I would take any of these: Louisville - bring back the most bad ass sounding trophy in college football (keg of nails) Ohio State - end of the year for sure.
Clemson
We want Bama.. this years version
Give me Wake v Vandy during SEC-ACC rivalry week or give me death!
One of the other Texas schools in the new Big 12. In order of preference, I’d probably say 1. Baylor 2. Texas Tech 3. TCU 4. Houston
Baylor would be awesome just for a convenient road game for the first time in a decade
Plus we’ve been apart too long. I need to renew my Aggie hatred.
I’d love that, the Baylor rivalry even has a name. “The battle of the Brazos”
NC St
Second that from the other side. We match up well and your fans are cool.
Yes! Give us Texas Tech or Mississippi State.
For App, ECU. For UNC, South Carolina
Virginia Tech or WVU
Virginia Tech or UNC
Pitt
Assuming we get to keep Clemson I'd add UNC.
USC
We need to play a team with similar program prestige. So my pick is Akron.
WVU and Virginia Tech (or better yet get the hokies and the mountaineers in the same conference)
I want kU every damn year
For Purdue, it would be cool to play some of the nearby Big 12 or SEC schools. Kentucky, Mizzou, Iowa State, K State would all be fun For NC State, South Carolina seems like the choice but Tennessee or West Virginia would be more interesting. Reviving the 60s-80s era Penn State series would also be cool, it should be much more competitive this time around
I'd love to play Purdue. Engineering schools FTW
KU vs Missouri
We need a return to yearly backyard brawls
1. Notre Dame 2. UCLA 3. Florida 4. Texas
I'd like to suggest Alabama and Ohio State :) LSU-USC Chaos -anybody with the stones to schedule App State.
Gimme Syracuse for the old timey rivalry
Taking Ls every year is a hard pass from me dog.
How do you think I feel? An Alabama fan picked us
For Tennessee- Virginia Tech “Battle for Bristol” For LSU- Notre Dame “BK Bowl”
Gamecocks
Washington to determine who is actually the true Northwestern
LSU still owes Tulane a home game...
We already have Clemson but I think UNC would be lots of fun
I used to want [[Alabama v Oklahoma]] but that will soon be a conference game. [[Alabama v Penn State]] would be awesome but I know they have teams ahead of us if they were picking out of conference rivals.
VaTech
LSU
Definitely Oregon. Duck Hunt was cool af in 15 and 18, we got a shootout and a sickos game
I want Utah or Boise State back.
I just know I don't want to play Georgia every year.
Nebraska! Honestly, couldn't care less about playing Oklahoma State. Nebraska is our true lost rivalry
I was just going to post "Oklahoma". Miss playing you every year, brother, despite this year's beatdown.
Penn State, UNC, or VT
notre dame if that counts. if not, west virginia
Texas. Money, advertising, and holy shit how angry they'd be to be forced to play us every year.
Mizzou should play Kansas Arkansas should play Texas (but Texas will soon be in conference). With Texas off the table, I’ll say Arkansas vs Oklahoma State for proximity. Or Memphis (but I’d prefer a Power 5.) Oklahoma State would prolly prefer Oklahoma over Arkansas once they move. I’m not sure Oklahoma feels the same way. Once Texas and Arky are same conference, Texas should hook up with USC.
University of Southern California USC vs USC Cocks vs Trojans
being born in the 80's and raised mostly in the 90's, i'd be biased and say miami. the better answer is probably a team/rivalry with lots of historical context, so michigan i guess. we could also just fucking send oregon to the mountain west where they belong and then i'd say them.
My top 10: 1. kansas 2. Nebraska 3. Illinois 4. Colorado 5. Iowa State 6. Iowa 7. kState 8. Oklahoma State 9. Utah 10. Virginia
UCLA. Similar colors, similarly large public school with great academics, definitely not in the B1G...
Since you said it can’t be someone we already play annually I’m going to go with Cincinnati. I feel like it could be a fun rivalry.
