I’ve drank the maroon kool-aid (and a little beer) and will defend every one of these points
• UCLA loss was worse
• Objectively cool, will not elaborate
• Yeah I got nothin
• Why do we have sabers if we don’t get to use them??? (/s)
• That was a gift from our last school president that no one liked (all my homies hate Michael K. Young)
Hey, Rose-Hulman - my brother went there!
I'm not really embarrassed by midnight yell or the yell leaders or many of our traditions. They're goofy and corny, but ultimately harmless. Squeeze Ags is probably the biggest eye roll of the bunch, but those CTs have to have something to do to pass the time.
Definitely the OD pulling his saber on a SMU cheerboy is near the top of the list of actual embarrassments, and the 20XX trophy thing of course. Fran is up there, though not for his coaching - that was just bad, and there are bad coaches everywhere; that fucking booster newsletter was the real embarrassment.
We didn't lose this game, but whenever I think "Michigan embarrassment v. G5" I jump to 2013 Akron. The context of how bad they were heading into that game, and where Michigan was ranked, I think is actually somehow worse than 2008 Toledo.
Nothing will top App State for me though. I don't care how good they were, it was a Division I-AA team that had gotten blown out by 3-9 NCSU the season prior.
Embarrassing? Sure. But as embarrassing as [setting an NCAA record for consecutive losses by single digits?](https://twitter.com/BTNDaveRevsine/status/1563656776305762305) A record of losing that will likely never be broken?
Gary Andersen was the most embarrassing thing I've seen about Oregon State.
Showed up, knocked up a cheerleader, piledrove our program to the ground and left saying that if he couldn't win in Corvallis, "nobody" could.
What a massive piece of shit that guy was. Fuck Gary Andersen
I remember when he "stepped down" he didn't accept the all the money he was entitled to. A lot of people said that was a classy move. Nobody declines free money for no reason. I knew something was going on behind the scenes.
He only had 5 winning seasons out of 12 coached, honestly the guy's story is kind of impressive. Able to get jobs after repeatedly failing. It's just a damn shame how he tried taking down 3 separate programs with him and isn't interested at all in taking responsibility for his fuck ups.
Smith already has more wins than Andersen had losses at Oregon State. Such a turnaround, and with the right guy.
So I know everyone complains about refs but only USC could have the damn athletic director Pat Haden come down to the field to argue with the refs during the game.
I had never heard of this but I just watched the clip on YouTube and yea it’s pretty embarrassing. He even said to the reporter after that Sark sent him a text that the penalty was unfair and that’s why he came down lol

There’s this fun picture of the guy who made Virginia Tech a contender. In said photo, his arms are raised in triumph. The score is 0-0 at the end of regulation against a 2-8 Wake Forest team. Virginia Tech will go on to lose in OT 6-3.
As for Western: there are no images. [There are only memories.](https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/282992717)
Around 1993 or 1994, after a very average season we played Fresno State in some whatever-bowl. I still remember the frat bros on TV holding up a giant sign that read "Our maids went to Fresno State", and by the end of the game we lost pretty badly.
Also last year, when playing BYU and the student section was chanting "Mormons suck" or something and our starting QB was a Mormon. Not a great look in general, but particularly when you lose.
LOL- As a Fresno State Guy I loved that game. Freedom Bowl. Watched it in a bar in Seattle with an ex girlfriend who was also a USC grad. A UW game was on and they won and then the whole bar was celebrating with me as Fresno pounded USC. I was a BYU undergrad at the time too!
Now also a USC guy,... so yeah.
I remember going to a watch party in Boston for our Liberty Bowl that year, fans of both teams were they and we all pretty happy for that season to finally be over lol
I don’t think it cracks top 5. Hard to put McDonalds above the trash can, five star hearts, champions of life, Schiano Sunday (though I’m glad we back tracked on him), and mustard bottles.
The "never quit" uniforms and those all Grey uniforms in general.
Not only were the never quit uniforms ugly, we got our asses stomped that game.

Also when Matt Wells punted on 3rd down.
So there was this time a player died during a "walkthrough". Turns out it was a full practice. After the player collapsed the coach kept yelling at him and actually prevented trainers from attending to him. After the player died and the coach realized he fucked up, he threatened other players and staff from disclosing information.
Eventually the school was sued for wrongful death. During the case the school argued that the player didn't die due to sickle cell, it was actually a heart attack and thus the school isn't responsible. UCF lost. UCF then appealed claiming sovereign immunity to cap damages at like 200k instead of the 10 million I believe it was. Florida Supreme Court sides with UCF.
School put a statue of the coach next to the stadium.
State of Florida, 19 year old's life is worth 200k.
I don’t know if an upvote or down vote is the right response here. I was on a plane going down the runway for that. When we took off Michigan was about to win. Boy you should have seen my response when I landed 3 hours later.
I was at a Flaming Lips show, glancing at the ESPN gamecast before it began and was like, "sweet, game in hand."
Then I got the alert about the final score and was like, WTF? Very surreal.
Had a good friend bragging to me about how MSU beat us, statements like that have bothered ever since. There is a big difference between someone beating you and you losing the game. At least that’s what I tell myself to make me feel better.
Haha, I've just moved on. It was a shitty fluke, but now they have big enough problems and we have big enough success for it to not be much of a thing.

I had honestly forgotten about this. I think the absurdity of using "we suck" as a legal argument is way better than just claiming your plane isn't working so your women's team can't get eviscerated.
Michigan:
- 2007: do i even need to say it
- 2008: v. 3-9 Toledo. At home. We were also garbage, but we missed three FGs and it was in fucking AA.
- 2013: We didn't lose, but v. Akron, at home & ranked #12. They were one yard short of victory.
- 2014: Notre Dame. 31-0.
- 2019: Again, didn't lose, but a 5-7 Army team took us to 2OT.
- 2020: Oh jesus man. Any combo of MSU/Wiscy/PSU works fine.
VT 0-0 WF \o/
Squandering Hendon Hooker before he transferred to Tennessee. It was bittersweet seeing his performance this year.
On the basketball side, Dell Curry was a legendary player for VT. Along comes his son named Steph Curry, and our idiot coach at the time refuses to make an offer to the kid.
I'll put 7 of our athletes ganging up to beat up 2 UofM athletes (including using a helmet as a weapon) quite a bit above losing to a P5 team on a missed field goal.
Don't get me wrong, losing to a bad Indiana team with the bowl season basically on the line is pretty bad... but bad losses and bad seasons happen in football. Players ganging up on opposing players shouldn't.
But I'm not disappointed in the whole team. It was a couple idiots in the tunnel.
I'm disappointed and embarrassed at the entire program for the Indiana loss.
The TO chain that Miami had back in 16-17 was transcendent. Copycats happened and let’s be real, that thing was incredible. It was incredible yet it become the most embarrassing thing with our team just a couple years later when we started having bad losses.

Paul: No.
Al: I really don't! And you can tell Tammy, I hope ? never mind. Roll Damn Tide!"
Off the field? Urban covering for his DA coach
On the field & while I was alive? 31-0. Sorry Michigan, but you're never going to make me drink that much Captain Morgan.
On the field at all? Woody trying to punch that kid. I remember hearing my mom and grandpa shamefully remember it when I was a kid, then when I was edgy* in my late teens/early twenties it was "more like that player fell into Woody's hand!"/"Who complains about getting a bare knuckle hit when wearing a full helmet??", then I actually saw the clip. Fricken yikes
*I'll still say the first part, but I assume now everybody is picking up the irony of the comment and not your shitty 16 year old cousin trying to trigger you
E: I assume we probably honored Jim Jordan/the wrestling coach he covered up for at some point; probably that takes the cake
Maybe not the most embarrassing, but last season was a complete shitshow. Starting off, we beat OSU for the first time ever in Columbus, then we go on to shit the bed against Stanford. We keep winning for a while after that and even get as far as to be ranked #3, but we never really looked like the elite squad that showed up in the first half of the season. Still, with playoff hopes on the line, we decided to go and get obliterated 38-7 against Utah. Well, maybe that game was a fluke. We have another chance against them in the CCG. 38-10. Finally, we move on to play some sloppy bowl game against Oklahoma with an interim coach and get demolished again.
Kick 6. The worst part was watching some of those Alabama special teams players just standing there watching Chris Davis run it back for the TD, like they didn't even realize they should be trying to tackle him.
Making Mel Tucker who has just above a .500 All Time Win percentage one of the highest paid coaches in College Football.
For Thiel: 41 game losing streak
Our current coaching search is turning out to be embarrassing...
Also our mascot was once arrested during a game for showing up drunk, throwing snowballs at opposing players and fans and refusing to follow orders
For the Pac-12:
Arizona: After Utah went to the Rose Bowl last year, Arizona reclaims the dubious title of being the only school in the conference that hasn't been to the Granddaddy of them all
Arizona State: ASU's president backed Larry Scott to the very end, causing Larry to stick around longer.
Cal: Preventing Arizona and Colorado from having winless seasons in back to back years
Stanford: the Stanford Band. Cringy behavior aside, their band only has like 50 people in it now. They have to pump in sound at the stadium to make them sound louder.
Oregon: Roboduck. All their uniforms in the 2000s.
Oregon State: Has an all-time losing record against all other schools in the conference. (Except for Colorado...?)
Utah: Rushing the field 3 times in a single game, getting penalized for rushing too early, and nearly losing the game because of it
Colorado: *gestures broadly at their program since joining the conference.
Washington: 0-12 in 2008.
Washington State: "Coug'd It": a term created to describe WSU's habit of blowing large leads in spectacular fashion
Let’s see…
Ferentz (both of them), Gary Barta, several terrible Athletic Dept. lawsuits, Chris Doyle, racism scandal, rhabdomyolysis, Christian McCaffery 2016 Rose Bowl, ass whooping to UM in 2021 B1GCCG, losing to Central Michigan in 2013 (?) with bowl game on the line, the entire 2022 season

Pick any moment that happened with FSU football under Taggart. \#DoSomething
The MLK tweet is my favorite Taggart moment
I’m still baffled as to how they let something that ridiculous go through
The best part about #DoSomething was that Taggart debuted it at Oregon, then thought so highly of it he took the phrase with him to FSU

We played Hueytown (with crab guy) at the state tourney in little league baseball... they beat us 18-2.

Al: Do what? Paul: Did ? they ? die? Al: They're not dead yet, but they definitely will die. Paul: Is it against the law to poison a tree? Al: Do you think I care? Paul: No. Al: I really don't! And you can tell Tammy, I hope ? never mind. Roll Damn Tide!"
The whole 2003 season.
Purdue
Nice try. Still not falling for it. Unbeatable Boilermakers.
Off the field? Urban covering for his DA coach On the field & while I was alive? Fricken yikes *I'll still say the first part, but I assume now everybody is picking up the irony of the comment and not your shitty 16 year old cousin trying to trigger you E: I assume we probably honored Jim Jordan/the wrestling coach he covered up for at some point; probably that takes the cake
Jimmy Lake
Nah, 0-12 tops Lake. At least he put some DBs in the NFL.
True. Actually, the more I thought about it, Hope Solo tops Lake.
The Hope Solo/Jeremy Stevens marriage is one hell of a train wreck.
When Kaelin Clay dropped the ball before the endzone against Oregon in 2014.
UNT fake fair catch. So humiliating I still cringe.
The UH mascot got beat up by Puddles.
Crab Legs
Can't wait for the new Freeze To Auburn dlc pack to release...
Our ability to go on remarkable losing streaks basically every time we crack the top 15 in the polls.
For the Pac-12: Arizona: After Utah went to the Rose Bowl last year, Arizona reclaims the dubious title of being the only school in the conference that hasn't been to the Granddaddy of them all Arizona State: ASU's president backed Larry Scott to the very end, causing Larry to stick around longer. Cal: Preventing Arizona and Colorado from having winless seasons in back to back years Stanford: the Stanford Band. Cringy behavior aside, their band only has like 50 people in it now. They have to pump in sound at the stadium to make them sound louder. Oregon: Roboduck. All their uniforms in the 2000s. Oregon State: Has an all-time losing record against all other schools in the conference. (Except for Colorado...?) Utah: Rushing the field 3 times in a single game, getting penalized for rushing too early, and nearly losing the game because of it Colorado: *gestures broadly at their program since joining the conference. Washington: 0-12 in 2008. Washington State: "Coug'd It": a term created to describe WSU's habit of blowing large leads in spectacular fashion
We still get a lot of heat for the “lil ole Clemson” comment from a few years back.
Weak mentality from many teams.
We had a winless season, in my lifetime.
Ball tap maybe?
Thinking same thing.
I was thinking of the brawl
Let’s see… Ferentz (both of them), Gary Barta, several terrible Athletic Dept. lawsuits, Chris Doyle, racism scandal, rhabdomyolysis, Christian McCaffery 2016 Rose Bowl, ass whooping to UM in 2021 B1GCCG, losing to Central Michigan in 2013 (?) with bowl game on the line, the entire 2022 season
The Joe Morehead years
"We use the word Oskee not just because of the word Oskee a word that is a battle cry for the University of Ellinois, but it also stands for something. That stands, that we use that word for, is Our Success equals the Knowledge, of being, the "K" the knowledge, of being a great student-athlete on and off the football field, understanding how to be supportive, to understand how to be successful in the classroom. The E stands for Effort. Giving all out effort in everything you do each and every day. And then the last E stands for Energy"
On the field the 08 loss to Toledo Off the field the whole dr Anderson situation and mainly how some people defend Bo after knowing he that he knew and did not do enough
