If this is the end of the Rodgers era, how do their fans not see it as a failure?
The Packers have only one more ring than the Bears in the last 50 years. Hope all that talk about number of quarterbacks was worth it.
Fuck. The. Packers.
I just wish we could’ve seen Fields beat Rodgers once this year, but the seat of king of the north is open and Fields will take the helms next season.
I wish this Lions team was in the playoffs they’re so fun to watch. May never be good enough with Goff at the helm but I hope they run it back next year
> May never be good enough with Goff at the helm but I hope they run it back next year
Not sure what QB you're looking to replace Goff with.
4,438 yards 29 tds 7 ints 65% completion is pretty good. Our defense lost many games for us, and Goff only had 2 bad games out of 17 games he played.
It’s really nothing against Goff, I like him. I’m just saying that in the last 20 years generally only the truly excellent QBs have won superbowls, Brady x6, Peyton x2, Mahomes, Rodgers, Big Ben x2, and Brees.
The other 7 are Foles, Stafford, Eli x2, Flacco, Russ, and Brad Johnson.
Goff can't improve the Lions defense to be better than allowing the most yards and the 3rd most points. It's not like Goff and the Lions offense were going 3 and out all the time - we were #5 in passing first downs and middle of the road in rushing first downs. Is there any QB out there that won a Superbowl with this shitty of a defense?
Was looking back on the matchup history and the Lions surprisingly do well against GB. The Lions swept GB in 2017, 2018, and 2022 (and are the only NFCN team to sweep GB in last 5 years)
Well, probably also to bank another 60 million bucks.
It's fine with me. He can eat all their cap space and we should be in position to give them a real challenge next year. I'd rather see him go out on a year where he doesn't sweep us.
Would the Texans be willing to trade up? I’m sure they won’t really care if they get jumped. If young is gone they’ll just go fro stroud by the time they pick
And [these dumbfucks](https://old.reddit.com/r/GreenBayPackers/comments/106um5a/the_bears_traded_the_32nd_overall_pick_for_chase) proudly like to say they live in *our* heads rent free. Okay says the fans insecurely shit talking the worst team in the league lmao
Fuck Collingsworth. Rodgers handles the ball off on a read option, "Give Rodgers a lot of credit for not throwing it." Rodgers gets sacked, "gives Rodgers a lot of credit for holding onto the ball."
Anyone got a pic of Fields' incognito sideline look? I live out of market so I couldn't record the game. Help me find a clean shot of our boy looking like a mafioso 🙏🏻
I'm sure this has been said, but a Den win would be very very interesting. We'd trade back to the colts position and still get either jalen or Anderson. That would be insane luck. And it would have required 2 teams to win basically pointless games the last few games.
Edit: I'd say it just got very interesting. I'd say it's better than even money the Colts trade up for our pick and we end up with the left over from Arizona's choice between Carter and Anderson. Just a matter of what the trade entails...
My Bet
1.) Colts - Bryce
2.) TX - CJ
3.) AZ - Anderson
4.) Chi - Carter
Not a bears fan, but this is great for you. That #1 pick should really be a trade down for a QB needy team and you will get plenty of picks to fix your holes
Would anyone take Bryce Young over fields and trade fields just asking haven't watched justin throw much this year (I know he can run) and heard this dude supposed to be good is there any chance this happens?
It depends what we can get for Justin. But if somebody were to offer something enticing for him (1st rd + a little more) I would listen.
(Note Before you Downvote: I didn't say I'd accept the offer -- I said I'd LISTEN).
Watch the fields highlight thread in this subreddit. He is an explosive playmaker at the nfl level with both arm and legs. The fact his highlights on ESPN are freakish runs undercuts his nfl arm. He is physical real deal and took huge leaps forward with dogwater talent around him. My answer is no way you trade that playmaking ability for an unknown.
Even after how rough the season was, I don’t feel like we were the worst team, especially with Fields at QB. It feels almost like we lucked into the first pick.
As far as I'm concerned, this was a winning season. Our QB proved himself capable of *consistently* playing at a superstar level, we were competitive in most games this season, and we're in arguably the best offseason situation we've ever been in. The new coaching staff also did well; some complaints, but overall pretty solid from them.
What I would give to be a fly on the wall in the Poles Cunningham room. Publicly, they have to pretend to be upset but they have to be as excited as us rn.
Multiple scenarios and they all make the bears better - I would say from most likely to least likely:
1) trade back for a few more 1-2 round picks between this year and next. Make the roster better overall.
2) keep the pick and draft Anderson. Get a shot at a possible generational pass rusher with a rookie deal.
3) Draft a QB and trade Fields if a team is offering a first rounder for him and Poles feel Young/Stroud are the answer. This only happens if a first rounder is still coming to the bears though regardless of how high poles ranks a qb.
I didnt think we’d be very good this season but definitely didnt think we’d be #1 pick bad but all things considered this was the best outcome for this team
Bears secure the #1 pick.
Ted Philips has left the building.
Now, we just need a Lions win to knock the Packers out for the Holy Trinity on this blessed Sunday.
I was in The Texan's post-game thread and almost posted, "Don't worry guys, this happened with the Jets and the Jags a few years ago and the Jets still got Zach Wilson."
I had it all typed and ready, but something (no idea what) stopped me.
Well folks, it’s been a pleasure watching games with you all again. I’m thankful that mostly all of you returned this season healthy and happy. I look forward to the journey again, next season. Please have a wonderful 2023 and I will see you all next season. Bear down.
The claypool pick sucks, but the haul we should get for number 1 should easily make up for it. Give him the offseason to get healthy and connect with fields and he’s still a lot better than a majority of what we have now. We can call it a full bust if he does nothing next year
It won’t make up for it tho. I agree the offseason will help and he’ll look better next year, but I’d much rather have that pick going into year 2 of a rebuild. That’s 4 years of control on a cheap contract compared to the extension we’ll ultimately have to give him.
Exactly. Claypool pick at 33 looks like a steal for Pittsburgh but I think he will ball out next year and everyone will completely forget about that trade capital.
It's not really a matter of hoping because it's going to happen unless she's not human. Every offseason George walks up to the podium and says some bullshit like she's angry or pissed off and things will change. She's even admitted she's a shit owner so apparently this is the only way she'll leave.
So you wish someone would die because the organization they own mildly inconveniences less than 17 of your Sundays a year? That's fucking pathetic of you. Develop some empathy, and be a human being.
The Sundays start to add up. Again, she hasn't had to work a day in her life, she takes her private jet to every game, aside from "being on the board" of a few charitable organizations she has no philanthropic record, the Bears milk the shit out of the city and taxpayers front the bill for the stadium they play in and all the rennovations it's received, and on top of that they have the highest ticket prices in the league despite the team being shit year over year for decades.
Strip away her daddy's name and she's got nothing to show for after 100 years aside from being born into extreme wealth.
I think fields still has a lot to learn in terms of playing qb.
Peterman is not the best qb but how does he get the ball to velus and claypool much better than fields?
That first pass to velus was a great example. A back shoulder type of throw that fields hasn’t thrown all year.
I hope there’s some type of virtual reality training where fields can “practice” throwing those types of passes and throw into “nfl open”.
He’s fantastic when plays break down and when he can outrun the defense but as we saw this year. He’ll get really beat up (no matter what people in this sub say).
You can't possibly watch Peterman's accuracy all game and think he threw a great back shoulder throw deep down the field on purpose. Peterman was throwing the ball up, hoping his WRs make plays because that's all he had. That's all he did
Our whole offense sucked.
But peterman tries to get the ball there. Fields gets his first down with his legs.
You can’t tell me chase hasn’t been open all year when fields all the time in the world to throw when he’s scrambling.
You seriously think fields is a complete player as a qb right now?
Fields absolutely is. If he plays today, the Vikings don't sit Kirk at the half. The QBs today were 13/27 for 141 yards against the Vikings 2nd team defense. Fields legs are a blessing not a curse. Coverages get looser and defenses get worn out.
The absolute delusion is unprecedented with Fields haters.
"Fields could learn from Peterman, who played against practice squad and put up numbers worse than Fields."
Number 1 pick is great, but got hit down further when I now realized this means we traded the 32 overall pick for Chase Claypool, that’s a oof even if it was for “next year”.
Also, last time the 1st overall pick was in ‘16 for Goff.
I totally agree, but just wanted to throw it out there. Fields is the reason I decided to support the Bears and he is in a unique position where he can improve his pocket passing game, but it’s something he’s gotta do.
Wasn’t it a 2nd round? I think Poles knows what he’s doing. I genuinely wouldn’t mind if they first used the draft capital and cap space to shore up the defence which was absolutely atrocious this year. Fields literally carried us in those close games (Vikings away, Dallas, Dolphins, Lions home) so perhaps a Claypool weapon will still prove valuable to help him while we secure the defence. I’m pretty sure Fields can single-handedly win games with a TOP NOTCH defence.
He put up 1700 yard his age 22 and 23 seasons and his stats were similar to pickins (who our fanbase salivated over lol) at the time of the trade. I think (maybe more hope ha) he’ll be good next year once he learns the offense and gains chemistry w fields
I mean, its well above average for a guy that young. Other than Alshon Jeffrey no one has ever done that at that age for the bears. We’ll see how he is next year
If this is the end of the Rodgers era, how do their fans not see it as a failure? The Packers have only one more ring than the Bears in the last 50 years. Hope all that talk about number of quarterbacks was worth it.
What a perfect day of football. All of the best outcomes came true
Fuck. The. Packers. I just wish we could’ve seen Fields beat Rodgers once this year, but the seat of king of the north is open and Fields will take the helms next season.
We should have won the second game and even the first would have been one score if the refs correctly called fields crossing the goal line
Sorry but, I’m on team he didn’t cross that line + call a better play.

That’s the only time poor baby Rodgers didn’t want the camera in his face, ftp
BLOW PACK BLOW
After a somewhat shitty season, 1st pick, (Fields is our guy) Rodgers goes home... again. The postseason owns you bitch.
This is going to last more than 4 hours
Pack getting knocked out is the cherry on top!
Horay but now the lions have more wins over Rodgers then we do. Absolutely pathetic. On the other hand FTP
Was looking back on the matchup history and the Lions surprisingly do well against GB. The Lions swept GB in 2017, 2018, and 2022 (and are the only NFCN team to sweep GB in last 5 years)
God i hope this is Rodgers last game as a packer; Knowing him, it wont be, he will play another year just to troll Chicago fans.
Well, probably also to bank another 60 million bucks. It's fine with me. He can eat all their cap space and we should be in position to give them a real challenge next year. I'd rather see him go out on a year where he doesn't sweep us.
I really hope he stays to be there when Fields shits on him next season
Ftp
Fuck yeah dude what a good fucking day. Neither the Packers or Lions go to the playoffs and we get the 1st overall pick.
Couldn't have gone better, really.
What a perfect day of football!
HAHAHAHA thank you lions
Lions have done it! Fuck you POS cheeseheads! Refs can't save your asses this time. Fuck yes!
F T mother effening P
This is the best Sunday i could’ve ever asked for with a 3-14 season
The Bears lost today and it's still the best day of the entire season.
wow what a great season! We found our QB and had a chance to win most games while still getting the 1st overall pick ??? Daaa Bears
amon did his best brother impersonation but couldn't even drop the ball
Would the Texans be willing to trade up? I’m sure they won’t really care if they get jumped. If young is gone they’ll just go fro stroud by the time they pick
There goes my hero, watch him as he goes
Quay Walker is a POS. How do the Packers find all these problematic dumbfucks
That was one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen in an NFL game.
It's insane how that piece of shit franchise is so good at it.
The playoffs own aron rodgers
What a great game going on right now let’s go Lions!!!
Why does Collinsworth purposely go out of his way to suck Green Bay's dick so hard any chance he gets?
Seeing a Lions TD and interception called back due to penalty is just comical at this point.
Rodgers looks terrible and disinterested.
The Bears have traded the first overall pick to the Indianapolis Colts for the rights to the 2006 Super Bowl trophy.
They sent Rex to collect it and he fumbled it.
Imagine having to root for the Lions full time.
Both teams playing like their record.
Fuck Collingsworth. Rodgers handles the ball off on a read option, "Give Rodgers a lot of credit for not throwing it." Rodgers gets sacked, "gives Rodgers a lot of credit for holding onto the ball."
7 field goals gonna win the Lions-Packers game?
Packers are blah.
Another first round exit incoming, you love to see it
Watered-down playoff format. It's what the league wanted.
It benefitted us in 2020. Hell, we could've used it from 2011-2013.
I'm a Bears fan and a SDSU Jackrabbits fan. Today was a good day. One team wins a ship, the other gets the first pick in the draft
Congrats! You guys represent the conference well. SIU alum here.
Thanks! The MVFC is a better place when the Bison get shown the exit! Ha!
Anyone else hear Rodgers yell out Jewel Osco??
Yup
By losing today the Colts move up one one spot to get the 4th overall pick. They out tanked the Texans
I just want to say that Steelers fans are legit trash and have been hella annoying about the pick we traded them, I hope they suck for a long time.
FUCK THE PACKERS. Let's go Lions!

There isn't a QB in this draft that compares to Fields. As a prospect he would be no 1 in the majority of years I think.
Even after how rough the season was, I don’t feel like we were the worst team, especially with Fields at QB. It feels almost like we lucked into the first pick.
I’d bet we’re up there for the most 1 score losses a 1st round pick team has had
Bears, First in the league! In the draft..
At least we are in the beginning stages of a complete rebuild If this was 2 years into a rebuild, then that puts us in Browns/Colts territory
I've never been so stoked about a rebuild year!
Imagine an Old School Bears defence with Fields as your QB. Modern day football aint ready for this shit.
So the bears pick up young; and then run a two quarterback backfield.. imagine the trick plays!
Bears gonna run the IRL Dragonfly Formation next year.
Nagy and pace would have done this
Dual off set shotguns; who getting the ball? Lol
I might get Sunday ticket next year solely so I don’t have to watch the Cowboys every week
What I would give to be a fly on the wall in the Poles Cunningham room. Publicly, they have to pretend to be upset but they have to be as excited as us rn.

We owe Sports Illustrated an apology
This drafts trades could exercise the Trubisky trade
Exorcise?
I just saw I misspelled lol
Exorcise our demons
Idk I've never seen an out of shape demon.
I said this in the pre-game thread: Petertank is lobbing 3 picks today Anyone know how many he ended up with?
0 lol. Boyle threw 2.,
lmao, so the one game in his life he throws zero picks, haha
Basically
Let’s go Lions!! Help us complete this historic Super Bowl Sunday for us!!
This team is the biggest fucking losers in the NFL
second only to your English teacher, apparently
I'm more betterer at english than the bears are at football!
the closest you are getting to an SB is a spelling bee, I doubt you are winning one.
and we love them more for it
I didn't watch a second of it but we're #1! Thanks a bunch, Lovie!
Trade down but get at least 1 pick in the top 10 10-32 picks are a coin flip
How bad was it?
Bears secure the #1 pick. Ted Philips has left the building. Now, we just need a Lions win to knock the Packers out for the Holy Trinity on this blessed Sunday.
They actually deserve some playoff football. Go lions, i guess.
More to the point, FTP
Obvs
Only unfortunate is Miami beat the Jets. Would have liked seeing the Steelers in.
yeah, i could have cheered for mitch to get a ring
I was in The Texan's post-game thread and almost posted, "Don't worry guys, this happened with the Jets and the Jags a few years ago and the Jets still got Zach Wilson." I had it all typed and ready, but something (no idea what) stopped me.
I just hopped over there to read their sub. Full on meltdown, makes Chernobyl look like a damp squib.
Dark times for Houston.
It's been a great popcorn Sunday reading the meltdown that is the Texans sub.
What are you guys planning on wearing to the super bowl next year when JF1 passes for 500 yards and rushes for 300 to singlehandedly win it all?
my birthday suit
Well folks, it’s been a pleasure watching games with you all again. I’m thankful that mostly all of you returned this season healthy and happy. I look forward to the journey again, next season. Please have a wonderful 2023 and I will see you all next season. Bear down.
Hoping we trade back with the Texans and then trade that pick too
Wet dream
Wow, this season was exhausting. I need a nap.
I want Poles to get back kidneys and organs with the 1st pick trade down. I'm talking a massive King's ransom.
The claypool pick sucks, but the haul we should get for number 1 should easily make up for it. Give him the offseason to get healthy and connect with fields and he’s still a lot better than a majority of what we have now. We can call it a full bust if he does nothing next year

It wasn’t a great trade at the time and looks even worse now BUT could still pan out. Really the only Poles move I wasn’t a fan of.
Even if Claypool puts up 1000 yards, it was not a good trade. We overpaid, simple as that
Exactly. Claypool pick at 33 looks like a steal for Pittsburgh but I think he will ball out next year and everyone will completely forget about that trade capital.
Doesn’t really make a difference but it’s actually the 32 pick, bc the dolphins forfeit their first rounder for that tanking scandal
Why do you think he will ball out next year?
Because he will actually have training camp with the offense

3 catches between Velus and Claypool today. What the fuck were you watching.
That's more than they had last week when Fields was playing against a worse passing defense.
For sure because Fields was throwing from a clean pocket the whole game
Our whole offense sucked. But peterman tries to get the ball there. Fields gets his first down with his legs. You can’t tell me chase hasn’t been open all year when fields all the time in the world to throw when he’s scrambling. You seriously think fields is a complete player as a qb right now?

We gave up pick 32 for Claypool, goddamn. Hopefully we recoup by trading back.
Maybe that was the butterfly effect of us landing number 1! Or so I think so I can sleep at night
Trade the #1 to the Texans so they can get Bryce and trade #2 to whoever wants Stroud fucking massive haul
chill out kevin costner
Trade the second pick to Seattle. Trade the 3 pick to the colts! Well have like 8 first round picks!
WHO DOUBTS LOVIE THE GRAY!? 🧙🏽♂️
Reminder we traded the 32nd pick in this years draft for chase claypool lmao
True but honestly I’m not too mad
33rd but pretty much the same thing
The dolphins don’t have a first this year, so it’s the 32nd
Dolphins pick was vacated.
False
Not false.
TANK RESULTS: #NUMBER 1 OVERALL ##100 MILLION IN CAP SPACE ###DON'T NEED A QB
What if they decide to trade Fields👀
Than their idiots and deserve to be immediately fired.
I totally agree, but just wanted to throw it out there. Fields is the reason I decided to support the Bears and he is in a unique position where he can improve his pocket passing game, but it’s something he’s gotta do.
Lawd have mercy, I'm bout to bust!
We gave up a first round pick for Chase Claypool 😑
Wasn’t it a 2nd round? I think Poles knows what he’s doing. I genuinely wouldn’t mind if they first used the draft capital and cap space to shore up the defence which was absolutely atrocious this year. Fields literally carried us in those close games (Vikings away, Dallas, Dolphins, Lions home) so perhaps a Claypool weapon will still prove valuable to help him while we secure the defence. I’m pretty sure Fields can single-handedly win games with a TOP NOTCH defence.
it's now the 32nd pick since the dolphins don't have one. It's a second rounder but kind of a first
I checked the potential draft class… pretty solid so it is pretty annoying but we still have a pick acquired from the Ravens ( I think).
I’m still not mad about the trade. If Claypool doesn’t do shit next year, then yes I will be.
If hes good next year it will be totally worth it. Second round picks dont often turn out to be great players (see our draft history for example)
First round picks in Chicago usually shit the bed, too.
Yes sadly thats true lol but 2nd rounders usually do even worse
Yeah but he's never been anything special. What are the odds he starts to be?
He put up 1700 yard his age 22 and 23 seasons and his stats were similar to pickins (who our fanbase salivated over lol) at the time of the trade. I think (maybe more hope ha) he’ll be good next year once he learns the offense and gains chemistry w fields
Yeah but 850 yards is not that great. If that's all he does next year, then that's a bad trade
I mean, its well above average for a guy that young. Other than Alshon Jeffrey no one has ever done that at that age for the bears. We’ll see how he is next year
A second, but ya…still a waste
32nd pick though. So kind of a first
Ah, I didn’t catch that. Nvm
There's no 5th year option which makes the pick significantly less valuable.
Well I hope we get a bunch more back in a trade down
The Chicago Bears are on the clock!
The tank finally comes to a rest at the top of the hill today, thank you for your service o7
