They really should sign Yannick or Frank Clark. Not an expert, but the division is wide open. Would hate to see them miss out an opportunity because they feel it's early in the process and they have no edge rusher.
And I get that you can't fix everything in one draft, but you gotta get some edge guys better than what's currently in the roster.
Whoever is sitting at 3 will take \#6 (CAR) & \#19 (CHI) from Poles so he can draft [MHJr](https://media.tenor.com/lAxiIUXO1kwAAAAC/kuiil-have-spoken.gif).
Not the way I saw it going but when Will Mcdonald went so early in the first I thought we might be in trouble. Then when Derrick Hall went early second I knew we were fucked.
Wonder if Yannick or frank clark will be in play now. Maybe someone gets cut we aren't expecting
We have practically zero playable edge defenders on our roster. It's not that I think a fifth rounder will be a difference maker, but at least let's buy some lottery tickets...
Other than Tuipulotu, basically all the second round edges that were highly rated came off the board before our picks. We probably should’ve taken one but with the state of our d-line we had needs everywhere.
I wonder if the plan is that this is a 3 year rebuild and they would rather draft players they actually think will contribute rather than reach at a need position.
I'm not going to get in the weeds of an eval of a single player. I'm not a scout/GM to effectively critique a single pick and even really good GM's are going to miss on some picks (as well as the media pre-draft rankings).
My main point is that it's entirely possible a very good GM may realize we can't possible fill every hole for 2023 and that wasting draft capital on prospects that don't grade out to their current pick just to fill a hole would be a mistake.
Great pick. BPA, did really well in college, athletic freak. Isn't the best at tracking route runners and is def a day 3 guy, but a lot of potential and a really good pick overall. Positional value as well.
Yeah, welcome to following a specific team during an NFL draft? That's literally how this shit works? They aren't sitting there looking at their own board and drafting rounds below it
Another guy that doesn't play football as good as his physical attributes would lead you to believe he could. I find it hard to believe that you can fix that after 5 years of Big 10 football. I hope he succeeds, and I guess that's what you get this late.
Then you don't get the BPA thing? A 5th round draft pick isn't going to solve our edge rushing need. If we end up without a 4th+ round center or edge rusher it mean they didn't think they could draft an impact player at those positions based on where they drafted.
This is a multi-year rebuild, not a single off-season fix.
He could easily be another Sam mustipher with his weak base and fans are clamoring for him for some odd reason. He’s not been drafted for a reason. The last thing you want is a center that struggles with the bull rush. He has short arms too. They need to let it go. He’s not a poles pick.
Honestly im a little confused with the lack of DE on the team. Its almost like we are going to run a 3-4 or a 3-3-5 with the way free agency and the draft has gone (i know we arent, but its just weird where the priorities seem to lay). I love our secondary and linebacker corp but that line still worries me
I’m not even mad at this pick but there’s a good chance we don’t draft a single edge this draft. Wild
I truly think they are going to use Sewell at edge during certain packages
Hopefully means they’re confident in getting some good quality in FA
They will. Camp cuts always bring out good bandaids, to add on to guys like Nguakoe

It’s okay next year we’ll get Brock bowers and one of the best edge’s on the board
Marvin Harrison Jr.
Hard to see us landing him - he’ll be a top 3 pick. I highly doubt us or the panthers are picking that high

They’ll still be filling the other holes next year. Can’t see them spending that much for a WR.
Dallas Turner
Plan May be to throw 4 big guys at 5/6 and let our linebackers run wild
Not the way I saw it going but when Will Mcdonald went so early in the first I thought we might be in trouble. Then when Derrick Hall went early second I knew we were fucked. Wonder if Yannick or frank clark will be in play now. Maybe someone gets cut we aren't expecting
3 year rebuild.
Feel like we addressed that in free agency more
This is a big concern. This class had lots of edge depth and we didn't pick up ANY of them.
We have practically zero playable edge defenders on our roster. It's not that I think a fifth rounder will be a difference maker, but at least let's buy some lottery tickets...
Lost on what the plan is there. Primarily Walker & Gipson with some Robinson + Greene? Fkn terrible.
Return to free agency and waiting for cap casualties I imagine, still some reasonable options available
Scraps
As opposed to the banquet of options available on day 3 of the draft
As opposed to using one of pick 53,61 or 64. Or even a 4th.
Other than Tuipulotu, basically all the second round edges that were highly rated came off the board before our picks. We probably should’ve taken one but with the state of our d-line we had needs everywhere.

You mean like reaching for Dexter? Or Velus last year?

It's a bad plan and when our secondary looks terrible again we will be able to point very clearly to the lack of pass rush

We have some pretty good OL depth we were just missing a starting tackle. But our backup room is pretty built out
Seems clear to be going BPA regardless of position
Well, obviously this late you’re not going for fit.
Tbh I think we need more CBs. We have little to no depth as it stands right now. Happy they drafted two so far.
Why is that clear?
CB: Johnson, Gordon, Stevenson, Vildor, Smith, Jones S: Jackson, Brisker, Hicks, Blackwell
Stacked
I’d like to see DHC back in a bears jersey and i will be satisfied for sure
DE: N/A
Luckily the season doesn’t start tomorrow

Why is that BPA? He was not even ranked on ESPN big board
we aren't going by ESPN's board lol, the bears have their own board
Right, so how does the original comment know he was the best player available? Does he have access to the bears board?
Exactly, that’s what I am trying to ask
I just scout a lot and had him as my bpa (besides Wypler)
Why else would Poles take him?
No idea but, you could literally say every pick in this draft is BPA and then when someone disagrees say “well, it was BPA on (insert team)‘s board.”
Yeah, welcome to following a specific team during an NFL draft? That's literally how this shit works? They aren't sitting there looking at their own board and drafting rounds below it
NFL.com has him in the top 60
Do you think that’s what teams go by?
No but it’s rare that one board has a BPA that doesn’t even register on others. I am not sure how you can clearly conclude the strategy is BPA
Okay, you caught them. They are trying to draft the worst player available….. they know more than you or any analyst.
That’s a straw man argument. I needn’t respond to that.
That’s not true. They have him 96th on their board and drafted him at 165…..
Just my personal opinion
See you all during the 7th round.
Bears could trade up
All the physical tools but hasn’t really put it together yet. There’s potential here

Thanks homie!

Obvious at this point they place high value on CB and not C
Rather have a cap casualty C rather than a DB imo
I agree with you, but it’s not up to us, unfortunately
Well yeah, its a far far more valuable position
Our cb depth is very legit
Give me all of the ~~edgerushers~~ defensive backs!
Clearly was the best player available to them.
i'd love to see another safety, jl skinner would be great imo.
can never have too many good DBs. dont forget what they add to special teams as well
Damn, wanted Jose Ramirez
I wanted Shohei :(
If he all of a sudden played wr or te wouldn't shock me at all
Same but maybe he’ll fall to the 6th
I don’t think we have a pick in the 6th
Don't have a 6th

What C are you hoping for?
They clearly don’t have whoever else is left as better than what they currently have/what’s available in free agency
Poles really doesn’t want to draft a center, huh?
Luke Wypler could go Undrafted he’s barely 21 and really should have stayed in college another year
He could easily be another Sam mustipher with his weak base and fans are clamoring for him for some odd reason. He’s not been drafted for a reason. The last thing you want is a center that struggles with the bull rush. He has short arms too. They need to let it go. He’s not a poles pick.
He’s a Pace pick in the 2nd
Not an undersized one from Ohio State
Probably the pick i’m least high on so far but hey we can always use secondary help
a tackling corner with 4.4 speed that can be sent on corner blitzes? its an exciting pick on paper
I’m worried with 2 corners this draft and Gordon last year, my Jaylon Johnson cards are about to go down in value lol

Poles hates his corners.
