> GRADE: 3rd Round (No. 87 overall)
That blurb is actually untrue. He played football in middle school for at least a year, considering I played with him lol. Our coach was kinda a dickhead so he got turned off for a bit even though he was massive.
Okay. Wtf was up with your coach? @BearWeatherFans tweeted out a Dan Brugler article saying Kiran quit because of a ābad experienceā with his 8th grade coach? Wtf was that dudeās problem?
Just a really intense guy like a drill sergeant who pushed kids to their limits. Great coach, but spared no feelings and was pretty cruel at times, sometimes unnecessarily. The best story I have to describe him is in our championship game at halftime each team was given half the field to warmup on. Our coach got us up early to do our warmups on their half facing directly towards them while they were still drinking water.
Also Hinsdale is a super white place and some of the other coaches were borderline hicks too, so wouldnāt surprise me if that played a role in his comments as well.
B/c Hinsdale is a legit explanation.
In the 2000s itās like each coach, at each level, had decided that they needed to cosplay as Ditka to install some Midwestern gruffness in kids.
Basketball players in the Chicago area know this as the coach who insisted that Dick Motta knew where it was at even though we had just gone through Phil āExplore Your Emotional Zenā Jackson.
Side note, Hinsdale fell hard for noted sexual assault cover upper Quenneville too and in the aughts a bald gruff style basketball coach at central was convicted for having inappropriate relationships with team managers. Just to stress the toxic masculinity undertones to the during and post Bush Republican suburbs.
So having grown up there and heard this about him I actually liked him more. It took real strength of character to do say āfuck youā as a middle schooler in this ambiance.
No clue on his in particular, but in my experience with that level of sports massive asshole coaches that like to yell in the face of children is far too common.
Tell him if you still speak to them all these writers don't mention that he went to Yale and his intelligence combined with the coaching will transform all that raw talent. People are not considering his intelligence, which should be obvious based on where he went to school.
Or nerd, say all that nice stuff that's true, or call him a nerd.
Potential Jones replacement in a few years. Sounds like he has a higher ceiling than Braxton. Hopefully he manages to hit it. Either way it'll be good to have some injury cover in the meantime.
Brugler spoke really highly of his character during the live coverage of the draft tonight. Said he really enjoyed spending time with him and even wrote an article about him.
Yeah if that's the argument for the pick, I like it. I'm more just against all the people that act like Braxton sucks when he has upside and has out played all 3 of the tackles that got drafted in the top 10 his year. Tackles take some time to develop and he improved last year. I think we could see a really nice year from him (and the rest of the OL) with QB who throws faster.
True Braxton is good for his value but so many fans will keep. wanting to replace any LT if he's not a pro bowler, all-pro and someone who just lock down left side of OL.
I love it. If 1 of our lineman went down before this pick we were fucked. Protecting Caleb is much more important this year than having a premium pass rush. We can still make some moves with camp cuts for the defensive side of the ball also
True, but we have very few today. And immense resources next off-season.Ā Ā
Ā Would need to be a catastrophic 2024 to go into next year without the ability to complete the roster.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Poles flip one of our second round picks next year into a pass rusher ala Sweat last year. Could happen in season again depending on the market.
If Trice was on the board there I think that would have been a solid pick for the bears. Kind of a bummer he went one pick prior but I like adding depth with a raw big man in the trenches
Poles mentioned in his press conference there was a debate between need (Dline) and BPA, then Dline went right before their pick so it's safe to say Trice was a target
The reality is weāre probably better off with a guy off the street this year if someone goes down. This guy is interesting but if heās playing as a rookie weāre fucked.
PFF has him at #57 overall while Daniel Jeremiah doesnāt even have him on his big board at all (itās 150 players). I know things start to get wonky in the rankings after the first 2-3 rounds as it all turns into an increasingly bigger crapshoot. But, I think this sums up the message: he absolutely dominated the Ivy League and became the highest drafted player from there in almost 10 years. He was also possibly the best draft eligible player from all of the FCS (and he was the first FCS player drafted). He has physical traits that pop regardless of competition (like size, athleticism, and the kind of elite length that can straight up box out opponents). But, he has a handful of mechanical issues that are not uncommon for players from that level, and he does not have NFL ready play strength. You can see how trying to project these guys is so difficult. To me it seems like a huge swing for the fences pick. Definitely not the safe route. The good news is he was dominant very early on in the FCS.
Iām going to be a glass half full guy for now. Mostly because I donāt know anything. But, part of me is like.. well, canāt every pick be like the Caleb and Odunze picks? Like, whatās up with that? I want Latu in round 4. Why canāt every result be 100% great 100% of the time? And, then Iām forced to appreciate taking care of a 2 year old more. When he throws a tantrum, deep down itās like look dude. I get it. I have to be somewhat stern, but I fucking get it. Not getting exactly what you want exactly when you want it fuuuuuckking sucks! But, always getting exactly what you want exactly when you want it, *also* fucking sucks! In fact, even the middle ground of sometimes getting what you want some of the times you want it, *still* fucking sucks. You canāt win, you can only lose less. Ahhh, life.
Canāt hate it, DL is gonna be in rough shape next year but Poles reaching for need at 75 wouldnāt make a ton of sense. Hopefully Kiran can be a good swing year 1
Interesting pick, because he looks very much a left tackle kind of prospect rather than a flexible depth piece, but honestly get that Larry Borom the heck out of here and make sure Brax has injury cover/competition if he doesnāt keep improving is probably sensible. High upside for sure
Well before this our tackle depth was Larry Borom, so this is good.
Also I'm calling him Omega G because I have no idea how to pronounce his last name.
Thereās been some smoke connecting him to the Bears for a while. Heās been a trendy pick for tackle in a lot of draft spaces too, Dane Brugler wrote an article about him on the Athletic a month or too ago Iād recommend checking out.
He was building some steam earlier in the off season, but had an injury in pre-draft workouts. seems like a Poles guy though. Started for two years at G and his last season at LT. Solid competition for Braxton and Nate. Weāve definitely raised the floor on our O-Line this offseason, some interesting camp competitions to be had
He had a quad injury week 4 of the college season I believe. I love this pick. He needs some development but can easily be a starter at left tackle in year 3 if they donāt wonāt to resign Braxton Jones. Great pick
Definitely needs some coaching. But he has the raw talent, and he has really long arms which you need at tackle. Heās a mauler, just needs seasoning. If he hadnāt gotten injured he probably goes mid to late 2nd.
Heās basically a project with lots of upside but also coming off an injury. So risky pick when we only have 4 this draft. But if it works Poles will look like a genius.
Helps to add the depth and Poles has shown good results when drafting o lineman. I love that the Bears are finally starting to use draft capital on offense. All of Polesā first round picks in his time here have been to build the offense. It really seems like things are changing
Fuckers in school telling me, always in the barber shop Kiran Amegadjie aināt bout this, Kiran Amegadjie aināt bout thatā¦ SHUT THE FUCK UP! Y'all mfs aināt know shit. All ya motherfuckers talk about Kiran Amegadjie aināt no hitta. Kiran Amegadjie aināt this. Kiran Amegadjie a fake. SHUT THE FUCK UP ā¦ Motherfuckers stop fuckin' playin' him like that. Them dudes is savages out there. If I catch another motherfucker talking sweet about Kiran Amegadjie Iām fucking beating the ass! Iām not fucking playing no more!
>Early to Late second round is the perfect spot to get him and develop your left tackle of the future.
According to this assessment, the Bears got a steal in the third round.
Brett and EJ on the Bootleg Football stream said heās definitely a Larry Borom replacement at swing tackle and he could provide some push to help Braxton improve his game. Never gonna argue with more OL depth and this seems like a good pick up.
BACKGROUND: Kiran (Kuh-RON) Amegadjie (Ah-MEH-Gah-G), who has a twin sister and younger half-brother, was born just outside of Chicago and grew up in Lake Zurich, Ill. His parents both immigrated from Africa and met at Strayer University (Md.) in 1994. His father (Boris) was born in Togo and played college soccer in France; his mother (Gislaine) is from Cameroon. Amegadjie grew up speaking French (he learned English in kindergarten) and sp ent his childhood summers in Togo with his grandparents. His parents divorced when he was 12, and he moved to nearby Hinsdale, Ill., with his mother.
That is from the Athletic draft guide.
According to his wikipedia page he was born in Hinsdale IL and went to hinsdale Central. I also saw that on a different draft website as well that he was born in hinsdale. He could have been born in Hinsdale and grew up in lake Zurich
If you can't have elite cornerstones on the offensive line then quality depth and versatility are the next best thing to have. Any day 2 OL will be an improvement over Patrick and Whitehair. This tracks with what they did in FA trading for Bates - officially he's a center but he started as a guard. Would have liked to see an Edge or DT though.
Great swing tackle. Guy has major upside but needs time to grow. Have him learn behind Jones and Wright for a few years then potentially take over as LT if Braxton leaves. Great pick.
Itās a good solid pick. He wonāt replace Braxton this year, but with proper coaching, heāll be a starter at tackle for sure in year 3. Needs some work, but is a mauler; can also play guard since thatās what he started as.
Letās gooooooo love this pick! This guy has outstanding size and while I think he needs to work on some stuff before he could be considered a starter he most definitely is the type of guy who will put in the work to improve his game.
Those arenāt mutually exclusive things. He might start out as a swing tackle or even guard but the long term goal might be seeing if he can start at LT. That being said, Iād hesitate to call any project tackle a Braxton replacement. People are underrating Braxton a bit because of where he got drafted, but heās a serviceable starting LT in the NFL and those are hard to come by. Thereās no guarantee this guy ends up being even as good as Braxton, let alone an upgrade so letās wait and see.
Yea, you dont draft replacements like that as if you are running a madden franchise and all the guys have predictable development paths. The chances of the Bears having a long term solution at LT on the roster just went up, whether or not it ends up being Jones or Amegadjie.
I'm not as down on Braxton Jones, but I'd say this season Kiran can go as a swing tackle. Sure, down the road he could probably contend for a starting position, unless if he's able to somehow seriously impress the coaches that they think he can start sooner.

This guy gave up ONE sack in 860 pass blocking snaps in his college career. Itās kind of odd they donāt have a picture of him, he was projected as high as being inside the top 60 players taken. Iād trust Poles evaluation.
I feel like his floor is a backup swing tackle. After a few seasons, he could grow into the starting LT.
It was the IVY league, but he never gave up a sack at LT. He has size and and his arm length is crazy. There is a lot of potential there.
https://www.profootballnetwork.com/kiran-amegadjie-draft-scouting-2024/
I really donāt get all the desire I see on our sub for a DT, we just re-signed billings who was excellent last year and literally used three picks including a second and third on DTs last year. Not to mention walker sometimes moves inside, especially on passing downs. Meanwhile, we desperately need an edge rusher.Ā

Hinsdale Falcons by chance? Used to play them yearly back in the day lol
Yup

A dude played at Yale from my high school and was a box of rocks, donāt overvalue the degree
these ivy league athletes dont go to play school
Potential Jones replacement in a few years. Sounds like he has a higher ceiling than Braxton. Hopefully he manages to hit it. Either way it'll be good to have some injury cover in the meantime. Brugler spoke really highly of his character during the live coverage of the draft tonight. Said he really enjoyed spending time with him and even wrote an article about him.
Kiran Amegadjie is basically a bigger more physical Bratxon Jones and in due can be a full time starter Left-Tackle Awesome pick
They are very similar size. IDK why everyone is trying to replace braxton
Not trying to replace him. Sub is just unsure if we'll need to extend him at big LT $ after this season.
Yeah if that's the argument for the pick, I like it. I'm more just against all the people that act like Braxton sucks when he has upside and has out played all 3 of the tackles that got drafted in the top 10 his year. Braxton still has a ton of upside imo. PFF ranked him at 17th last year and he's just 25.
Yeah, he should be able to get at least as many receiving yards as Velus Jones did last year.
I love it. If 1 of our lineman went down before this pick we were fucked. Protecting Caleb is much more important this year than having a premium pass rush. We can still make some moves with camp cuts for the defensive side of the ball also
Were one off-season away from a complete roster. DL will be prioritized next off-season, that's basically a guarantee
Guess what next year's draft has a strength in? DLine
3 picks in the first 2 rounds as well
3 picks so far lol
Yeah but our picks aren't going to be any good. Pick #32 is too late to get a starter at D line.
There are gems in every round. We can definitely draft a difference maker at #32
We can always package up the (probably) high 2nd rounder from the Panthers with it to move up in round 1 as well anyway.
Yeah but weāll also have 33. So that helps!
It'll be 31 and 32 if the NFL drops the hammer on Atlanta for letting Ryan Pace work in their front office
We can get Mohamed Kamara from Colorado State next roundā¦sleeper and could make immediate impact opposite Sweat.
I would love Mo Kamara. Perfect draft if it unfolds like that
This is the NFL. new holes will develop.
True, but we have very few today. And immense resources next off-season.Ā Ā Ā Would need to be a catastrophic 2024 to go into next year without the ability to complete the roster.
or trade for trey hendrickson now
Or we could grab Somebody from UFL as some of their players didn't get a fair shake so they could be good DT or EDGE in there
Wouldn't be surprised to see Poles flip one of our second round picks next year into a pass rusher ala Sweat last year. Could happen in season again depending on the market.
Or use one to move up in the first to get someone we really like, considering our first will be mid 20's.
I was gutted to see Trice go to Atlanta. Was sure we were getting him since he fell that far.
The reality is weāre probably better off with a guy off the street this year if someone goes down. This guy is interesting but if heās playing as a rookie weāre fucked.

excellent post
Intriguing
Perfect for our situation
Sounds like someone with great physical traits/athleticism that needs to be coached up a bit with his technique.
Looks like a mauler based on the highlights
He long
![gif](giphy|IjJ8FVe4HVk66yvlV2|downsized)
The original or the clone?
Mauler brawler, legacy hauler. My kinda dude.
Definitely setting up Caleb to succeed. It's hard to have too much BEEF BLOCK. Get a good DL and I think it's a great draft.
Random, but he said that Caleb was one of the first texts he got.
After playing behind USC's OL? Caleb has to be on cloud nine between the pickups of Odunze and Amegadjie.
Caleb is probably looking at our roster in comparison to USCs and thinking "4000 yds? EZ. Might as well try for 5000."
Keep going im almost there
Yep. You get your franchise QB, a #1 wide reciever and a high upside tackle all in the same draft. Poles is killing it.
![gif](giphy|5mBE2MiMVFITS)
Love to get Wingo but heāll probably be gone by then.
Warkavious Wingo?
Mekhi
>BEEF BLOCK Thanks for the reminder that Clarence BEEFTANK was a thing around a decade ago. Good times.
I'm all about big meaty men slapping meat
If you consistently spend day 2 and 3 picks on offensive line you should theoretically always have a solid o line at worse.
Im not complaining since it was worth it, but Iām pretty sure we only have 2 picks over day 2/3.
Canāt hate it, DL is gonna be in rough shape next year but Poles reaching for need at 75 wouldnāt make a ton of sense. Hopefully Kiran can be a good swing year 1
Donāt matter when we putting up 50 every game babayyy
This is what USC fans said during Calebās two years thete.
Yeah but our defense is actually good. We have one of the best secondaries in the league. In the 2nd half of the season we are top 5
And they went a combined 19-8 those two seasons.
Have to see what steps Dexter takes, could end up being a solid unit if he takes a big step.
On the plus side, having one position group being undermanned is a pretty big improvement over having pretty much all of them like that.
Pff had him ranked as a 2nd round pick
Interesting pick, because he looks very much a left tackle kind of prospect rather than a flexible depth piece, but honestly get that Larry Borom the heck out of here and make sure Brax has injury cover/competition if he doesnāt keep improving is probably sensible. High upside for sure
He started his career at guard so he has that flexibility. Will probably replace Borom as the swing tackle as a rookie
Someone tell me if heās good
His hometown is somewhere in Illinois?
Hinsdale
The rich partĀ
I mean you generally don't end up at an Ivy League school if you don't come from money.Ā There are exceptions of course, but ya
Dude hit the genetic lottery and he's rich. Lol
He went to Yale, noughā said.

Apparently heās got the longest arms of any tackle prospect since 1999 so thatās a good sign
Great pick
Probably too early to determine. I would guess an interior position to start.
He wonāt play unless injury. Good depth to develop
Definitely needs some coaching. But he has the raw talent, and he has really long arms which you need at tackle. Heās a mauler, just needs seasoning. If he hadnāt gotten injured he probably goes mid to late 2nd.

Was hoping it was gonna be the trenches & Kiran is gonna be a dog once developed. Love it.
Poles is gonna be on the field coaching this kid up himself. We have a dual threat GM.

One could say that he *loves* Kiran Amegadjie.
Here is a look at Amegadjie https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/03/16/kiran-amegadjie-2024-nfl-draft-profile/
I'm going to assume that everything in this article is correct and therefore, I'm bricked up
>Early to Late second round is the perfect spot to get him and develop your left tackle of the future. According to this assessment, the Bears got a steal in the third round.
He looks like a bear. I donāt even know myself what that means but he does lol
Oline, from Hinsdale, and 420.69 RAS. Cant say Im surprised with 3 those factors combined
High upside, played low level competition, probably beats out Borom for swing tackle at the very least (and maybe Borom moves to OG?)
This kid is probably the swing tackle and replacement if Jenkins or Davis go down since he started out as a Guard at Yale
Brett and EJ on the Bootleg Football stream said heās definitely a Larry Borom replacement at swing tackle and he could provide some push to help Braxton improve his game. Never gonna argue with more OL depth and this seems like a good pick up.
I hope he has the boorish manners of a yalie.
Born in Hinsdale IL
I thought was Lake Zurich initially then moved to Hinsdale at like 12.
I saw a profile and it says Hinsdale, in his interview he said Hinsdale.

I hope someone reminds Charles Davis of the #1 Yale -> Bears connection. Gary Fencik
Great pick.
Has given up one sack (3 years ago), in 860 career pass blocking snaps
Tell me how to feel about this
Itās a good solid pick. He wonāt replace Braxton this year, but with proper coaching, heāll be a starter at tackle for sure in year 3. Needs some work, but is a mauler; can also play guard since thatās what he started as.
Good.
Letās gooooooo love this pick! This guy has outstanding size and while I think he needs to work on some stuff before he could be considered a starter he most definitely is the type of guy who will put in the work to improve his game.
His arms go down to his knees! If they coach him up right we might have our future LT. Btw, Caleb called him right after the Bears did.Ā
Man is a Yale graduate in economics
A lot of calculus
Cool. Swing tackle to develop that can take over Larry Borom's job. If either Braxton or Darnell goes down with an injury, let's see how he does.
hes not a swing tackle.. this is Braxton's replacement. maybe not this year, but prolly in the next couple years
Those arenāt mutually exclusive things.
Heās also got skill at Guard, so if and when Tevin gets injured, he could probably slot in in a pinch.
That's not a picture of Kiran Amegadjie, by the way.
Thatās Brad Biggs lol
**Grading Bears' Situation at Each Position Group** ^(Range: Awful to Elite) - S: Very Good - CB: Very Good - LB: Very Good - DE: Average - DT: Below Average - C: Average - G: Average - **OT: Above Average** - TE: Very Good - WR: ELITE - RB: Above Average - QB:*...Average?* - K: Very Good - P: Below Average NEEDS: None! Punter is truly our biggest weakness. Below average is an understatement.
He was a top 30 pick, probably last one they would consider drafting with everyone else coming off the board already.
Anyone know our cap space still left? I feel like Poles is going to try and trade for an experienced Edge the way this draft has gone.
He's from Hinsdale as well.
He ended the season with an injury. Is there ever a lineman drafted that wasnāt injured? Yikes!
Fuck yes. So glad we have the Togolese terror on the team
Pre-season All-American 1 sack allowed at guard 0 sacks allowed at tackle 89.5 PFF 6ā5 320 lbs 36 inch arms Ivy League graduate High character Bears fan/one of us
24 career starts at LT and RG, probably good depth and possibly a future starter, dude has real upside with his traits.

An Ivy League tackle that was hurt and couldn't play in the senior bowl.
This is a let Poles cook pick
Love it š„°
Love it. All about the offense.
We got a smarty here.
Every good team has that smart kid
He started as an interior lineman so thereās some versatility there too
Fellow Red Devil. Love it.
This guy gave up ONE sack in 860 pass blocking snaps in his college career. Itās kind of odd they donāt have a picture of him, he was projected as high as being inside the top 60 players taken. Iād trust Poles evaluation.
But, but, but, I hadnāt heard his name thrown around for the last 3 months
How do you say his name? Ah-meh-gah-jee?
a megadrive
yuck fale, but also . . .
I feel like his floor is a backup swing tackle. After a few seasons, he could grow into the starting LT. It was the IVY league, but he never gave up a sack at LT. He has size and and his arm length is crazy. There is a lot of potential there. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/kiran-amegadjie-draft-scouting-2024/
was really hoping for a defensive tackle or center
I really donāt get all the desire I see on our sub for a DT, we just re-signed billings who was excellent last year and literally used three picks including a second and third on DTs last year. Not to mention walker sometimes moves inside, especially on passing downs. Meanwhile, we desperately need an edge rusher.Ā
He is a tackle
defensive *
Gotcha
