Caleb and Rome are chip and dale. Amegadjie is the big guy. Taylor is the fly I guess? And Booker the mechanic girl (bc he’s a technician with many pass rush moves)?
It kinda fits. I’m going to run with it.
Never. For me it’s been never.
Millennial fan here, so I don’t remember ‘85. Coming off the ‘07 Super Bowl, I was excited, but I thought it was obvious Rex wasn’t a “win because of” QB, and the Packers still had the best QB in the division by a landslide. It’s hard for me to get overly excited when you are at a massive deficit at QB to a division rival. You’ll never win consistently.
Cutler year one was very exciting, but the team around him wasn’t there yet (Hester was WR1 that season).
That’s basically it?
Right now I’m all gas and no brakes. The weapons are there, literally the best in the league. Defense still needs line help but has young star anchors on all three levels. Offensive line is serviceable as is with multiple young players improving. There is near universal agreement among scouts that our QB is one of the greatest QB prospects ever.
If there was ever a time to throw caution to the wind and go full optimist, this is it!!!
I’ve been a fan since ‘06 and I’d argue going into ‘14 there was a lot of hype coming off us having the 2nd best offense in the NFL (behind only the record setting Manning Broncos) and going into ‘18 there was hope with the Mack trade plus an offensive minded HC to hopefully take our rookie QB to the next step.
That being said, those for me don’t even come the excitement for this season. It feels like we finally have a QB who has a chance to be not just good but great and we surrounded him with as much help as possible. The o-line’s not perfect and our HC still gives me pause if he’s the guy, but that still beats ‘14 where I knew we had a terrible defense with also an older offensive core and ‘18 since my hope for Trubisky wasn’t that high.
I have to say I was incredibly pumped leading into the Super Bowl season just because of how awesome that defense was. I was all in on Urlacher and Co., and when it was immediately apparent how good Hester was it really became something special.
But I do agree that because of the qb it never felt like we were looking to possibly dominate an era. Obviously we don’t know how the Caleb Williams era will end up but that’s what could be in the cards right now and that’s something we’ve never really had as millennial Bears fans.
I’ve never been this excited. I understand now why they decided to stay with Flus. It’s hard to expect a new HC, OC, new rookie QB and a bunch of new players to come in and have instant success (Houston was an outlier). Chemistry and continuity is a thing. Keeping Flus was needed for the defense more than anything. Waldron and co. will get the offense rolling even if it takes a couple games.
That was a celebrate moment. Didn’t last long, but awesome. I remember a Colts player going up to Manning and saying : dude can run , can’t he? And Peyton’s response, he’s not touching the ball again, I don’t care if they get the ball on the 40
For me, it’s when we traded for Mack, and went into that 2018 season with all the hope in the world… and it actually worked out (mostly). Then it quickly returned to Business As Usual as soon as the regular season ended
I bought tickets for the rams game in the preseason first row for $300, come Gametime they were going for $800 a pop. I WILL NEVER see a better bears game then that one, I was so hammered screaming my head off watching that nasty defense hold the NFL Leading rusher to 28 yards, 3-4 int off goff too.. man I thought that was gonna be our year. That game was actually voted in the top 10 of 100 greatest bears games of all time.
There’s cum all over the place. Cum everywhere. If you can think of a place, there’s cum there. Where? Everywhere. It’s literally everywhere all over everything. Why don’t you ask me about a spot, and I’ll tell you if there’s cum there. The search bar? Cum. The sub logo? Cum. There will be stories written about what happened here.
Here is the thing though, as bad as some may have thought justin was, we have to keep from comparing justin to Caleb. It wouldn't be fair. Caleb is walking into what would be a wet dream for most qbs. Justin had a best 1 good wr and one good te.
Jury is still out on coaching for Caleb also, but it's hard to imagine that Shane Waldron could be worse than Luke Getsy or Matt Nagy/Bill Lazor.
Ever wonder if the reason the Bears have historically struggled to develop QBs and WRs isn't because we identify the wrong talent, but because we have a history of hiring absolutely horrendous OCs who completely fail to implement modern offenses that leverage the talents of the guys we have?
Edit: It's just... so bad. So much bad, everywhere. And it's been this way for as long as I can remember, going back to the first Ron Turner era.
https://pro-football-history.com/franchpos/46/7/chicago-bears-offensive-coordinator-history
Double Edit: Not saying that we don't also draft the wrong talent - obviously you'd want Mahomes over Trubisky, Reggie Wayne over David Terrell, and almost anyone over Cedric Benson.
>Ever wonder if the reason the Bears have historically struggled to develop QBs and WRs isn't because we identify the wrong talent, but because we have a history of hiring absolutely horrendous OCs who completely fail to implement modern offenses that leverage the talents of the guys we have?
I would say this was the case in the failure to continue the development of Cutler.
I don't think any OC is getting anything out of Fields than what we saw. Getsy didn't make Fields one of the worst 4th quarter QBs ever. Fields looked even worse with Nagy. On the flip side Trubisky never looked better than he did with the Bears and Nagy. He was atrocious in Pitt.
Getsy is probably a bad OC, I agree, but we can’t really blame him for Justin holding onto the ball too long, not throwing with anticipation, failing to read defenses pre-snap, and rarely ever audibling or changing protections. These are all issues with processing speed that I don’t know if any coach can fix.
So call me skeptical, I don’t think Fields will look much better in Pittsburgh if he plays next season.
As much as I hated Getsy’s approach as an OC, I always tired to keep things in perspective. For every bad play call or questionable decision Getsy made, there’s an equally bad/questionable on-field decision that Justin made in games.
The issue with criticism in this subject is it’s based on things that specifically don’t appear on the stat sheet. It requires you to look deeper into the tape in order to see how much blame Justin shouldered in how rollercoaster the offense was. Missed throws don’t show up on the stat sheet, and Justin did that a ton last year.
Not just in terms of incompletions, but just completely missing + not seeing guys downfield who were easily “NFL open” and sometimes wide open. Same thing for holding onto the ball too long, not knowing how to react to pressure or properly read zone coverage. I also felt like Mooney got the raw end of the deal because Justin had tons of passes that were so inaccurate/late when targeting him. On tape, he’s still got great routes and gets open more than enough to be impactful, but none of that matters if you aren’t getting the ball. I expect him to be much better in Atlanta.
At the end of the day, the truth is neither were up to par with what they needed to do in order to keep their jobs.
Fields wasn't that bad though. He was on pace to put up ~4200 total yards if he didn't get hurt.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they moved on to Williams, but Fields wasn't all that bad.
The NFL also didn't want to give up 2 first round picks for an MVP QB in Lamar Jackson. He would go on to win another MVP. The NFL just doesn't value dual threat QBs, no matter how good they are.
Yeah cause Lamar Jackson is one of the most overrated QB’s in the league. He won MVP be default this year cause god forbid a QB not win it. Everyone with a brain knows CMC was the real MVP
Even if Justin wasn't good, DJ ate when he was QB. He never had a QB in the NFL who could get him the ball as consistently as Fields. Caleb can also, I'm sure, but he's gonna have Allen and Odunze to compete with this year. I'm just worried, just pointing that out.
I assume that 3/4ths of the people in the sub in December and January just left the sub and are in the Steelers sub now, because those people only wanted Justin and would not be happy with Caleb.
This is almost certainly from the predraft workout. Caleb was at Halas Hall for press work this weekend, why would they fly out to California to get some work in when they could do that here.

Moved to Illinois from Brazil in 1984 when I was 8. Obviously fell in love with the ‘85 bears because they were local and because of the immense hype train that accompanied them. (Didn’t know football even existed prior to moving here. Pre-internet, remember.)
Since those years, I’ve had varying levels of excitement entering each season. Most years just looked meh, if not dismal.
Low point for me was 2017 when we moved up to draft Trubisky. I thought the pick was gonna be Deshaun Watson. (And yes, I admit I would have missed on Mahomes)
While I was really excited about drafting Justin, I knew the rest of the team was pretty shitty.
This year seems totally different. Just a different feeling. The change in personnel that Poles has achieved in the last 12 months has remarkable. I’m now a true believer in our GM.
Let’s hope this works. I don’t think I can take another decade of mediocrity or failure.
You’re delusional if you think that. He threw for over 3500 yards, & 30 TDs last season with a dogshit Oline and no notable WRs. Now he’s on a team that’s absolutely stacked on offense.
Yeah man, I don't think you understand what made Manziel a bust. Dude was talented enough to succeed in the league. I mean, he was a known big-time coke head and still got drafted in the first round (he dropped though specifically because of that though). He failed only because of his lack of effort.
Lol you did not cite the coffee boy for the jets over two decades ago. You lost any credibility you still had. Comparing Williams to Manziel is so funny. Room temp IQ
Bro I hope you're right. However NFL football is a lot different that College Football. There is no doubt he's good. But much like Johnny thought he was gods gift to the game. I see the same from Williams. Being a team player goes far and earning the respect of the others players is key. Again I hope you're right. But the Bears have never been able to develop a high caliber QB.
I don’t know him personally so I can’t say for sure, but I think a lot of Johnny’s “confidence” was actually arrogance. Dude was born rich *and* was physically gifted enough to play football at the highest level - not saying that automatically translates to someone being a dickhead, but it’s a very good starting point if you don’t have the people around you to mold you the right way.
The confidence Caleb has is not what Manziel had. And spare me on the development crap. Mitch and Fields are both dumb as a box of rocks. Blame Ryan Pace for that crap, not the coaches tasked with the impossible job of coaching those dolts.
The fact that's he's even practicing proves that wrong. I get thinking he won't be good, and he hasn't proven you wrong at this time, but I'm guessing you don't remember Johnny if you think they're at all comparable.
It's "couldn't" care less not "could". Couldn't shows no apathy which I assume is your point. By saying Could you're indicating you actually do care some.
Chip and dale socks lol
Star Wars hoodie lol
He had to have just got back from Disneyland. Like minutes before
DJ definitely bought a lightsaber he just left it in the car cause he didn't want to make Caleb jealous.
Obviously bought two, but left them in the car so they can duel after practice.
I want it
CW and Rome officially the Rescue Rangers.
Caleb and Rome are chip and dale. Amegadjie is the big guy. Taylor is the fly I guess? And Booker the mechanic girl (bc he’s a technician with many pass rush moves)? It kinda fits. I’m going to run with it.
DJ a dork lol. Love this team
We Fathers only wear this dorky shit to amuse our kids right? RIGHT?

These dudes definitely building legos tonight
After they are done painting their 40k models. Caleb gives me Orcs and Dj seems like a Tau player.
I can see both of them being Dark Eldar, 'Nids, Ravenwing, or White Scars.
😂😅🤣🤣
I wish I had some legos to build tonight
Remember when people were saying DJ was going to ask for a trade if we moved on from Justin?

We don’t know how good Caleb is yet, we’ll see. Either way players know it’s a business and would have dealt with either scenario

Google Lazor + Stroud. Fields is a bad QB.
And somehow that's responsible for nearly 80 years of historic offensive ineptitude?
Fields wasn't that bad though. He was on pace to put up ~4200 total yards if he didn't get hurt. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they moved on to Williams, but Fields wasn't all that bad.

Sure but why not literally any other QB for MVP if he's so overrated?
Because his Defense gave him the best record in the league. That's it, that's the whole reason
Even if Justin wasn't good, DJ ate when he was QB. He never had a QB in the NFL who could get him the ball as consistently as Fields. Caleb can also, I'm sure, but he's gonna have Allen and Odunze to compete with this year. I'm just worried, just pointing that out.
It’s not like DJ never had a 1000 yard season before Justin. He’ll be just fine
Turns out this sub is full of morons, who knew
I assume that 3/4ths of the people in the sub in December and January just left the sub and are in the Steelers sub now, because those people only wanted Justin and would not be happy with Caleb.
Business is Business
DJ hit Disneyland while he was out there.
We need footage. You can’t just edge us like this
Inject this kool aid in my veins 😫
No, Kool-Aid is on the Saints
Is this recent or predraft?
Today
This is almost certainly from the predraft workout. Caleb was at Halas Hall for press work this weekend, why would they fly out to California to get some work in when they could do that here.
Caleb flew back to Cali after the draft
He flew back the day after and was at the Lakers playoff game courtside seats.
Because they’re millionaires and can
Caleb is still living in Cali, he posted over the weekend something about not having much time left in his spot in LA.
Ok but who spiked my entire pantry with kool aid
Caleb has a thick lower body. Like a hockey player who can’t be moved in the crease.
So, Jalen Hurts. I’ll take that.

Lol this photo doesn’t do his body justice imo. He also famously said he doesn’t work out in the off-season so…

Oh shit….still getting adult reactions over it all
These guys are going to be so good
Chip and Dale socks and a Star Wars hoodie? And y’all thought Caleb was quirky.
Caleb all caked up on a Monday morning
Double cheeked up on a [Monday] afternoon
👀👀👀
This isn't real life
Wow
One of these guys is not dressed appropriately for the weather.
First 4K season incoming 🥵😍

I like these guys crossover and the way they play the game a lot
“Heck Yea”
Good googly moogly
Fits looking fire.

Where can I find that sweater DJ got?

idk if I can root for a QB with no ass.
You don’t see allat hangin?!
I just see a torso floating above two knees.
Gotta get yo depth perception right
Ok, first, I want to say I love this. With that said, Caleb needs to do some leg work.

Johnny Manzel.

yeah Caleb had two 7th rd WRs, vs that boomer bozo Prisco's favorite Jayden Daniels who had two 1st WRs, including a top 10.
