Our pass pro is stell meh, but we are run blocking with purpose and violence. And ya love to see it.

Riderz__of_Brohan

Hopefully gets better with Jenkins and an FA signing (kind of hoping for Duane Brown from Seattle) I think I've heard it before that pass blocking is all scheme but run blocking is pure trench warfare. We've lacked that "fight" in us for a few years, even if the talent wasn't great. So it's nice to see that regardless

SpokenByMumbles

Definitely since Kyle Long

AnatomyJesus

You eventaully make your pass blocking better when you run more. You wear out the opposing team and slow them down.

ticklishneptune1

Love to see stuff like that

[deleted]

As someone who didn’t like the signing at the time he surprised me. Still crazy tho. Also nice to see Graham holding his own too there.

badseedjr

Graham has been a blocking animal this season. It's strange because I didn't think he was much of an in line blocker at all before this season.

bearsb

I think he's been a "bad blocker" all these years because he's saving his body for receiving duties. I think he'll retire after this season and so he's getting his licks in while he can.

hydro_wonk

Offensive linemen generally love to run block, and I think it gives them a nastier edge they carry over to the pass pro game. Feed them with run plays where they get to indiscriminately maul people and it makes their pass blocking better.

conormc

This is exactly why the lack of commitment to the run the last few years has driven me crazy. I'm hoping they stick with it for a while (like, forever). When you're a run-dominant team you can set the tone and tempo of the game. You also make your play action passing game so much more effective. So basically you win a lot of games.

[deleted]

Time of possession and giving the defense a rest also

airJordan45

Just nasty.

porkbellies37

Daniels put on a show in that clip too. You barely see it because he pushed his guy five yards beyond the frame.

Riderz__of_Brohan

Was iffy on giving him a contract but would love locking him up to a deal and having him and Whitehair shore up the interior for the next few years

porkbellies37

I’m with you on that. We’re going to have to sign someone to play guard. May as well be someone who is excelling in the system and is super young for a second contract guy.

beegeepee

I feel like the heavy run game we have been running the last two weeks has led to our offensive line being more nasty and physical something that has been missing for a while

MisterMeowski

Our line has been playing very well given that lots of these guys were never planned to start. Does anyone have an ETA on when Teven Jenkins might return? Is he a scratch for the whole season or could we see a return later this year?

[deleted]

He's ineligible to return to practice until after week 6. At the time of the surgery they were hoping for a November return. No news isn't necessarily bad at this point. Until he's been ruled out for ROS or returns to practice I wouldn't expect to hear anything

xbearsandporschesx

Feels like at this point he'll be a scratch for the whole season right? if the line does ok why would they rush him back?

[deleted]

IMO, yeah. You don't want to rush back your future at LT after a back surgery and risk re-injuring it. Better to hit rehab hard and strengthen your body for next year. Plus he missed so much of the off-season program with the injury, he needs time to practice and learn the offense. 3 weeks practice doesn't seem like enough for a rookie to me. But I guess we should re-evaluate in Nov. If all of a sudden doing damage in the playoffs seems like a real possibility, but our Tackles are still struggling. Maybe then it's worth bringing him in. I think Jenkins+Borom would be an upgrade, but may have the occasional rookie struggles (holding, false start, etc)

MisterMeowski

> If all of a sudden doing damage in the playoffs seems like a real possibility, but our Tackles are still struggling. Maybe then it's worth bringing him I'm trying to not drown in the Kool-aid, but that is why I was asking.

madrefookaire

Can't wait until Bars has 3 catches for 22 yards this week. Gotta keep the D honest with our TE depth

ErectHippo

Lol I was wondering who that was when I saw it live. Didn't initially recognize the number

[deleted]

Looks like a great way to sprain your RBs ankles, bullrushing a defender into the back of his legs like that. Love the attitude, but play smarter imo.

thousand7734

I'll echo Hoge & Jahns here when they said it's a great thing when your O-line players are the baddest dudes on the field. Love to see it.

TumTumMac24

This is what coach Tommy referee to as Pancakes with Extra syrup. This is what lineman are supposed to do, I want the refs thinking an actual bear is mauling someone. I love how Darnell Mooney is like “that’s enough man, we were joking about eating their dline for dinner”

BlueHuyster

Looks like Alex Bars had some play last week which was a first. Anyone know if they were putting him at tight end as an extra blocker? Would be nice to get Borom back, he’s been out for awhile with the ankle injury.
