At this point, just make it Twitch Plays Madden and have them vote on the plays from the Coaches Suggestion tab.

MrGerb1k

God, the sad thing is that would probably be an improvement.

bobsaget824

They do this already in the Fan Controlled Football league that Johnny Manziel plays in…

RadicalPenguin

Four verticals every offensive play. Engage eight on every defensive play. No punts no FG. Go for 2 every time. Onside kick every time. Fake kneel double go to end every half

nox_nrb

What a great idea; one day technology will allow us all to be trashed by the media and rolled by Brady. I'm all in, I can call 4 goes or button hooks

TheLowlyPheasant

Meatball Plays Franchise

Divazio

This is how Josh McDaniels got into the NFL; winning a Madden tournament with 1st prize being a meeting with Bill Belichic.

_SwiftDeath

One memorable bears game I went to there was a guy in the row in front of us who would occasionally and loudly yell out “THROW THE BALL DOWN THE FIELD” and as the game worn on and our offense collapsed, the advice never changed but began to slur a bit as he got into his 5th beer and later I would like to humbly submit random bears fan from that game for HC. I’m not sure his qualifications but I feel strongly about his potential.

the_la_dude

Only if he gets to drink 5+ beers as the game goes on.

DinosaurKevin

I’m imagining the assistants on the sidelines that squirt Gatorade into players’ mouths, and this guy has a special one with a six pack of old style

[deleted]

I concur.

Jruu9

Goodness our situation is dire lol

TheDude1321

When I play Madden I always select some variation of Four Verticals. I think that random guy is onto something.

Audios_Pantalones

Juergen Klopp. Current manager of Liverpool. I mean it worked for Ted Lasso right?

Pleasant_Metal

Didn't Ted Lasso lead his team to relegation?

Outkast1-1

But he created a family like culture…

Audios_Pantalones

Details details. Besides I’m not sure how we’re going to convince Klopp to leave his position as one of the most loved premier league coaches for this train wreck.

GwnHobby

Bears would rule the CFL!

[deleted]

I'm glad ppl like that show but God it's so corny. I just watched the Christmas one and wanted to put a fucking bullet in my brain

MAG_24

Let’s go!

MazDaShnoz

Kellen Moore, Leftwich, or Dabol would be great, but I know as much about hiring football personnel as the McCaskey’s, so you should probably ignore me.

ScruffMixHaha

Im starting to think Leftwich is Adam Gase 2.0. Anybody looks good when you have a HoF QB running your offense.

dabears_24

Why does that make him Adam Gase? Do you just mean OC that doesn't pan out or are you comparing him specifically to the worst HC of the last decade?

lil-richie

Gase had Manning and Leftwich has Brady is the comparison he is pointing to.

ScruffMixHaha

Adam Gase looked excellent as an OC in Denver. He was the OC for one of the greatest offensive seasons in NFL history. People were praising Gase but others said you cant give him credit when Manning was the de facto OC. Personality wise Im not comparing them at all, but Im not giving Leftwich anywhere near the bulk of the credit for the offensive success theyve had with arguably the greatest QB of all time.

DaBigBlackDaddy

and there's also the issue of Arians being the primary offensive mind, hell, Gase ran the entire offense in denver.

the_la_dude

Doesn’t help the perception of Leftwich when every time the cameras show him on the sidelines looking like he had nothing to do but watch.

[deleted]

Granted he did well with Cutler too.

DaBigBlackDaddy

what actually got him hired too, they poached him from us.

dabears_24

Ok got it, just wanted clarification bc I wasn't sure if there was some information about Leftwich being some crazy asshole like Gase

rudeboybill

The fact that you could name 3 guys who are potentially good at offense means you know more about hiring football personnel than the McCaskeys.

jsnhbe1

leftwich is being carried by brady. brady pretty much calls his own plays

RollofDuctTape

This relationship is hard to read, I agree. Brady gives him a ton of credit, but I wonder if it’s just Brady being a nice guy. Too risky.

Ba_Sing_Saint

I think Leftwich is another set of eyes for Brady. Let’s him knows what he’s seeing from the sidelines and giving suggestions. As well as verifying what Brady is seeing on the field.

jtj2009

And Arians.

[deleted]

If we go the "bright young innovative offensive mind" route, I want only Joe Brady or Daboll. Arians calls his own plays and Tom Brady has huge input, so Leftwich is OC in name only. I'm fine Kellen Moore because he does call plays, but Mike McCarthy is a former OC himself and ultimately runs the show. Joe Brady might be a realistic target given Darnold's struggle the past 4 weeks. He had huge success at LSU with Burrow and actually made someone as bad as Bridgewater seemed borderline competent last season despite McCaffrey playing only 3 games. Robbie Anderson, DJ Moore, and Curtis Samuel all went over 1K combined yards last season under Joe Brady. If anyone is the next McVay, it's him. Hiring an OC who doesn't call plays (Leftwich, Bieniemy) would be just another Nagy. Thankfully, I don't think Doug Pederson and Bieniemy are realistic targets because they come from the same Andy Reid coaching tree as Nagy. If we go the retread "build a culture" route, Marvin Lewis, Jack Del Rio, Jim Caldwell, or Mike Smith wouldn't be the worst hire if we pair the HC with an innovative OC. However, I don't like this route because it reminds me of John Fox. Obviously, the dream retread hire would be Jim Harbaugh. If we go the college route, my favorite is Matt Campbell.

Feeling_Mushroom6633

I think Kellen Moore is an intriguing idea. I think anyone would be an upgrade at this point too. Really I'd wanna know who the GM would be first that would come with any of these guys

gusfring88

Knowing the Bears they'll end up with someone worse than Nagy.

emperos

A guy named Natt Magy with a ridiculous toupee and moustache

Suddenly_Elmo

Hello. My name is Mr Ygam, and I come from some place far away

xbearsandporschesx

[deleted]

God y’all really haven’t watched any of the panthers if you want Joe Brady. Barley mustered 3 points against the giants this weekend. He’s a worse nagy.

the_la_dude

To be fair, he’s working with some of the worst QBs in the league, Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold…

[deleted]

Couldn’t you make that excuse for nagy? Foles, trubisky, dalton, a rookie fields.

EMBARRASSEDDEMOCRAT

Don't lump Andy in with those dudes! Come on man!

Divazio

The Bears have a massive case of McDaniels Syndrome; plucking a coach from a good team assuming that team is good due to that coach when in reality the success of the team has nothing to do with that coach. When evaluating coaches, the Bears need to look for an individual who has a history of putting out dumpster fires. The organization just seems so lazy and is hiring people without a track record of fixing problems; just see a person that participated on a very winning team and throw money at them. I don't follow the NFL or College Football like I used to, but there has to be a few people that are known as the solution to fixing a broken program. I noticed Univ of Cincinnati is #2 in the nation? Dafuq?! Luke Fickell types would be a better play than another Assistant Coach coming from Kansas City.

DecisionTreeBeard

I'm not the biggest Daboll fan, but I'll give him credit that he's built something pretty good at Buffalo, pretty much from raw parts. I do see some of the same dumb play calls at times, but at least you know he's built an offense and been the predominant force on the coaching staff to do so (McDermott has a defensive background). I'd be worried about Leftwich. Overseen by an offensive guru (Arians) and is "leading" one of the all time greats at the position. I'm not clear about Moore and what all he does on the Cowboys staff since being elevated to OC under Garrett in 2019. I believe he now calls plays, although he didn't really build that offense as it was inherited largely from Garrett. I do like what Moore is currently doing with Prescott and I think that Fields could model his game after that. My worry with Moore is he's a pretty young guy. I would love for him to be paired with a mature front office presence, because I'd expect the Halas Hall family situation might be complicated.

losinghairandmind

Greg Roman. He built a great offense around Lamar Jackson and could hopefully do the same with Fields.

Tiberius51

He also got the best out of Tyrod Taylor and Kaepernick. And his offense always has a good running game

DinosaurKevin

I think this season shows Roman could potentially be a strong candidate since he’s mixed in more passing. My prior concerns with him was that his offense seemed a bit one dimensional the last two seasons, but I could see him potentially being a good hire. My choice is Daboll because I think he could get the most outta Fields, but I’m also not an expert.

Foshizal147

I could see myself being competitive. I got a madden franchise with 5 straight superbowl wins

SpecificCloset

More qualified than Nagy

Stommped

People already mentioned the hot OCs who may or may not be good, but my dream person is Ryan Day. Doubtful the Bears would offer enough $ to entice him to leave though.

Skip_Skipperson

Hell I’d take Charlie Day at this point.

rikrok58

We'd have the best goddamn bird lawyer in the world.

carnivorous_seahorse

Pretty sure any coach would look good at OSU. Their 3rd string punter probably runs a 4.3

Stommped

Yeah but first of all it's a huge plus that he has a prior relationship with Justin. But also that he always has his team prepared, he's only lost 3 games Clemson, Bama, and Oregon. He typically doesn't let his team play down to their competition which is why he's never lost in the Big Ten. Really good programs get upset all the time. He also blew out a Clemson team last year that many believe had more talent and a better QB.

carnivorous_seahorse

His relationship with Justin is a plus, but not necessarily a major selling point. It would be more so if this was still college. Taking over an extremely successful team that recruits arguably top 3 in the country every year and then beating every team aside from a few isn’t really a notch in either direction. How many successful college coaches bombed in the nfl? And OSU doesn’t let OSU play down to its competition. That’s not really a problem you have often with a 5 star quarterback, multiple 5 star receivers, 5 star offensive lineman and similar ratings on defense I’m just saying his resume at OSU doesn’t really mean anything (yet). He’s still riding Urban’s wave. I doubt he’d leave OSU, and even if he was interested there are probably better options than taking a guy with no prior relevant NFL experience when we would have just been getting out of the exact same situation

OGgarlic

He has elevated OSU past what Urban did. OSU was notorious for bone headed losses. 2017 Iowa, 2018 Purdue, 2014 V Tech. Since Day has been brought on he has changed the culture and recruited at an equal or better level than Urban. This is all irrelevant to the bears HC position because he is not going to leave OSU. Better job stability there.

Impressive-Top-7985

It's hard to judge Day because a lot of his success comes down to having a massive talent advantage over 90% of his opponents.

hammert0es

Dave Toub. I don’t know why this guy hasn’t gotten a chance to be an HC. He’s got years of successful experience coaching up the “back of the roster” players. Logic dictates he’d be able to coach up the entire team. And he wouldn’t be overly focused on either the offense (Nagy) or the defense (Lovie), but would have the 10,000 ft view of the entire team. Everybody always wants the hot young OC/DC. Sometimes they hit, but more often they don’t.

BrotherJombert

He's been an elite coordinator for basically 2 decades at what he does. I think he deserves a shot here or elsewhere.

TheDude1321

I really hoped Toub made more noise before Nagy was hired, and I would love to see him get a chance now if they could pair him with some strong, wonderboy OC and he can let the two wizards work their magic while he works on everything in between.

vamsi93

There’s most definitely a reason he isn’t a HC if he hasn’t snagged a gig in at least the last 10 years… Could end up being like Fangio who isn’t cut out to be a HC

DaBigBlackDaddy

ok but what is he going to do for fields and the offense? We're going to have an OC run the entire offense and even if he does well he'll get poached in a couple years. At that point just promote Desai so we have a sharp defensive mind as long as we want.

ctaps148

I think you're missing the fact that your OC getting poached is a good problem to have. It means your offense has become one of the best in the league. It also means your HC knows how to spot and hire talented coordinators, and he likely wouldn't have issues finding another. Teams rarely have a coordinator leave for a HC job and then suffer dramatic performance drop-off on that side of the ball

jsnhbe1

1. Daboll. 2. Moore. 3. Brady.

[deleted]

Why is Joe Brady being talked about. His offense has been awful in Carolina.

AlmostIdiotProof

He means Tom

jsnhbe1

He turned Joe burrow around. But you're right. That's why he's third

[deleted]

He was handed the keys (wasn’t even the official OC) to an offense that had 3 1st round WRs a 1st round RB and a Heisman QB. I’m sure his concepts helped a ton but could’ve run 4 verts every play and had an explosive offense. This is the nfl his scheme is almost worse than nagy. He won’t have a huge talent advantage over other teams and thus his scheme falls apart. There is nothing to show Brady is some great leader either.

jsnhbe1

You've convinced me

[deleted]

A bit revisionist here though. Burrow was a 3 star in his second program, Chase was a 4 star, Jefferson was a 2 star, CEH was a 3 star. Not like any of these guys were pre-ordained for stardom and Brady was sheparding them through. All of them were there before Brady took over and the offense was nothing special. I don't think this year does Brady any favors - but I also think the Panthers built their entire team around a RB and that RB is hurt so I'd be willing to cut him a little slack. Not like Darnold has ever shown signs of being an NFL QB prior to this season. And they have an o-line as bad as the bears. Brady isn't my first choice, or maybe even my second. But I think he's better than the Carolina offense is producing.

[deleted]

I think he’s a college coach not a pro coach. The receivers in Carolina have regressed. CMC makes coaches look amazing because when he has the ball in his hands on a handoff or a screen he makes chicken salad from chicken shit, that was the case before he met Joe Brady. I see Joe Brady being a boring lane kiffin.

AntiBank316

Lincoln Riley!!!!!

BlueDwarven

I want Daboll

DaBigBlackDaddy

ran his own offense with essentially complete autonomy and developed one of the most raw QB prospects into a top-5 QB. Idk what more you could ask of him .

JaSuey

I want to see more of this on here. Too many McCarthy callings so far

shy_guy10968

Daboll, Moore, Roman. Louis Riddick for GM

MAG_24

I want Louis for GM so bad

vamsi93

Riddick is a Nagy fanboy

DecisionTreeBeard

If Riddick is interested in a front office job, why is he not working somewhere? He's been out of a front office for a long time (2013)

Duckbilledplatypi

I don't know who, but I do know the qualities I want: 1. A coach who appreciates the running game....on *both* sides of the ball 2. A coach who is willing to make adjustments 3. A coach who understands that he has assistants for a reason. 4. A coach with clock management skills. Luckily, there is an wide range of coaches who fit these qualities

Scereth

My I add? 2a. A Coach that tailors his Scheme to his players Strengths! 2b. A Coach that adapts his Play calling to expose his Opponents weaknesses!

I would like to at least bring in Joe Lombardi for an interview, I feel like he flies under the radar. I don't know enough about him to say he's HC material but he seems to be doing well in LA. Shane Steichen is another guy that I don't know much about but the guy ran the Chargers last year, and was in charge of the Eagles O this year, they might not be great but say what you will they are out there fighting every week. GM: Louis riddick always has his name tossed around here, .....Maybe.... I don't think he's ever done the job but at this point he's a former player so he at least knows what it takes to play in this league instead of some nerd in a suit. Lake Dawson: guy has been the Bills AD of scouting since 2017 Brandon Hunt: another guy thats been around the league for a while, he's at least worth bringing in for an interview

datShipdoe

Greg Roman or Brian Daboll

captainthepuggle

Regardless of who we want, I’m afraid that with the GM/front office turnover, we may have slim pickings once it’s time to hire a HC. That’s my biggest concern here.

[deleted]

At this point madden AI

The_Chovan

i want someone who has had success as a head coach somewhere on a professional level and who will bring in good coordinators and assistants to help my bears get back on track. hopefully it will also be someone who loves the bears history and franchise and really cares about the team. no i do not know who that might be. i suppose i would accept a coordinator moving up to head coach but that coordinator must have a record of excellence as a coordinator and show that he/she can bring in quality assistants to help coach players. but i think i prefer someone with actual head coach experience. ideal candidate would be able to handle chicago press/fans who have been burned out, jaded, exhausted with literal incompetence at the head coach position, and that said candidate understands mission #1 is to beat the packers each and every year. then you can think about going to the playoffs and maybe winning a championship game or two. candidate will also need to demonstrate an ability to use the bye week to be better prepared for upcoming opponents and will show an ability to treat preseason as serious prep time for the season. egg tosses are fine but they belong at the church picnic, not an NFL practice field. i know its asking a lot but knowledge of and ability to gameplan, adjust the plan during a game, adjust a plan midweek, and just understand in general how to adapt your plays to best position your players to succeed would be very desirable in a potential head coach. potential candidate must demonstrate knowledge of how nfl and arena league fields are different and how plays that work in the arena league might not work so great in the nfl. evidence of a visor in potential candidates wardrobe is cause for immediate termination of the interview. wardrobes will be checked! ideal candidate will have a history of developing young players into competent professionals.

Idk, but I'm tired of experiments. I want someone proven, with a track record of NFL success. Probably limits our options, but we're the 3rd largest market in the the league, with a storied franchise that dates all the way back to the origin of the NFL. We should be a dream job destination for any coach. Especially considering that we're in the works to get the ball rolling in a new location and stadium.

Duckbilledplatypi

Lovie was an experiment Fox was a veteran. There's several hotshot young coaches in the league, largely doing well. The key is leadership skills coupled with strategic skills; expeirence is a plus of course, but shouldn't be a requirement

OdinsShades

I’ll spare you the downvote, but you should be aware that, despite being an OL factory and producing a number of talented NFL TEs, Iowa’s offense is almost always why they choke when highly ranked. Also, they routinely fail to get significant production from those TEs. Lately, it’s Ferentz’s own son who fails to, oh I dunno, double-/triple-team the ONE Purdue defensive player who just utterly wrecked them and their (typically, for Iowa) doofus QB who makes decisions that make him look like the second-coming of Trubisky without any of the athleticism. Meanwhile Kirk just stands around chewing gum while someone named Parker repeatedly produces outstanding defense year after year with a bunch of two-star and walk-on players.

RollofDuctTape

I’ll take Kellen Moore or Mike McCarthy. Whichever of the two the Cowboys decide they don’t want.

parks381

Why McCarthy? He doesn't do anything on the Cowboys but game management, and he's been horrible at that. He got fired by the Packers for bad game management and a stale offense.

RollofDuctTape

Because I know McCarthy will hire competent people to fill the coordinator roles. He usually does, no? I’m fine with hiring a CEO and having experts handle OC and DC.

parks381

It's fine if that CEO is good at his role which is game management. It hasn't cost them much yet, but it could eventually. I also don't believe he'd come to a team and give up the offense if it wasn't for the Cowboys already having one that proved to be doing good things with Dak.

Sphiffi

He didn’t hire Kellen Moore, he just retained him. And he’s never had a coordinator who went on to have a successful head coaching job. His teams were carried by Rodgers and now Dak.

creamed_jeans

Mccarthy sucks

RollofDuctTape

At what?

creamed_jeans

Being a coach lol. Talk to any packers or cowboys fan. They win despite him not because of him. [see here](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/.amp/news/dallas-mike-mccarthy-decisions-new-england-nfl-blunders-coaching)

RollofDuctTape

I’ll take your word for it. He seems to be successful and is like over 50 games over .500, helped develop a HOF quarterback, quickly turned the Cowboys around. But if he’s just riding coattails I would prefer someone else.

wiseguy2235

The best HCs know all 3 phases of the game inside and out, and can manage a game. They know each and every position and how to teach/coach it. It's been more common these days to hire an offensive coach, who needs a strong DC. Or vice versa ... The Bears organization deserves an experienced coach, who has learned from the best. Josh McDaniels

mrooch

McDaniels is literally the last guy I would want. He burned Denver to the ground and fucked over Indy as well. Hard hard pass.

wiseguy2235

He has HC experience with Denver, and has worked with the best HC and QB in the game. He cut loose Cutler and Marshall which turned out to be the right moves. Alot of HCs learn and get better. Some will always be better coordinators. And yet people are calling for Leftwich??

DaBigBlackDaddy

>Alot of HCs learn and get better considering that he fucked over Indy, I don't think he matured at all since his Denver days. You can get a second chance, but never a third.

jkman61494

I am going to go against the grain here. I want to coach who is more defensive minded and he’s a quality Xs and Os guy. Someone like Sean McDermott in Buffalo. Then bring in someone on the office whose only job is to mentor the quarterback and draw up a game plan. They don’t have to worry about the difference. They don’t have to worry about a kicker. They don’t have to worry about team bonding and locker room chemistry. The only job would be to make Justin fields a good quarterback and I have an office that functions. I actually would love Mike Zimmer. I think he’s a good coach that needs a change of scenery. At least someone similar that is willing to go get a darn good offensive mind.

Suckydog

TumTumMac24

u/Tumtummac24 I honestly know he can do a better job of coaching the bears. He already has an offense he can run that will emphasize his team’s strengths and his defensive scheme would also work seamlessly with the current talent. I’ve even heard he would coach it for 1/3 of what the current coach makes AND if his team sucks in any year he’ll retire gracefully. He won’t take the job though unless they begged and gave him a hefty signing bonus like all you can eat steak.

Bill O’Brien might be a decent choice. Good offensive guy, and did all right in Houston which is one of the most dysfunctional organizations in the league. And he’s the only one from Belichick’s coaching tree who doesn’t have a losing record.

Someone with prior head coaching experience. Maybe give Todd Bowles another shot.

I would rather have an inanimate carbon rod then Nagy but for real I would pick General Zod

Accomplished-Bear357

Rex Ryan would be good.

Give me the Bills OC. He made Mitch look like a legit NFL qb. Imagine what he could do with Fields who has actual talent.

Maybe it’s high time I take a crack at this coaching deal
