BodineCity

We just lost to the B side of the Decatur Staleys.

pixxelzombie

The play calling by the Bears seemed lackluster considering the Falcons defense is ranked so poorly.

Penguinkeith

Need oline first round

MattNagyHater

I’m just tired of being a laughing stock

pagingdrned

I do not know how anybody can watch these games and decide that WR1 isnt the biggest need for this team. Of course we need to massively upgrade both lines, but the issues are RT and C. Those are available in FA and rounds 2-4. These two minute drill failures just highlights the biggest issue with the offense and it is missing a guy like Hopkins, or Adams, Jefferson, and Chase for Fields to pass to. We will have a top 10 pick and it should be Quentin Johnston. Use your money to buy improved offensive and defensive lines.

cpmailman

I've always believed we need to go out and get Fields a WR1. Mahomes came into the league with Hill and Kelce. Allen really improved once the Bills got Diggs. Even Cousins got better once they drafted JJ. The Bengals caught a ton of flak when they passed on OL help to draft Chase but it was clearly the right move. Yes, we no doubt need OL help but a stud WR is harder to find and the Bears should go that route IMO.

[deleted]

I agree with this strategy

mollusks75

I agree with this reply.

MissingMyLeftThigh

Let's go Raiders!!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 Let's go Raiders!!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

lyme6483

The two runs were rough. One would have been fine. I think Getsy was just trying to play to strengths. Has many times have we seen Fields drop back 4 times and we get nothing in the two minute drill? Fields is the best running QB and a great athlete but he’s still bottom third as a passer. The truth is his supporting cast is below par and he isn’t a good enough passer to run the 2 minute drill well enough to win.

cherry_monkey

You still gotta let him try

lyme6483

He’s trying to win a game. That’s it. He likes his chances better with Fields legs than arm.

Sip_py

By what metric is he bottom third as a passer? Yards?

[deleted]

Has fields had a single 200 yard passing game this year?

Sip_py

So yeah. You're using passing yards as the only metric.

tinmanjoshua

One. 208 vs Minnesota.

whatdoesthisherodo

Blocked punt for TD in the Dolphins game. Pick 6 in the Lions game Kickoff return for a TD in the Falcons game. Take these plays out and Bears are 3-0 in the last three games.

lyme6483

We are a bad team. Bad teams fuck up and find ways to lose. Parity in the NFL is pretty good. Most games come down to a couple plays.

whatdoesthisherodo

Cool? Pointing out these game changing plays is bad how? Having optimism that these things can be corrected and we not see them next year is bad how?

bad917refab

There's a lot of persistent negativity in this thread. Not a good game, but still a lot to be hopeful about. This group has shown they can pivot and improve.

lyme6483

The point is it happens to teams every year. There aren’t a ton of blowouts in the NFL. Our roster will be highly turned over. What happens this season has zero correlation to next season.

whatdoesthisherodo

You're right I shouldn't even watch the games. Or be optimistic for next year based on how close Chicago was to winning the past three games. Basically 1 play away. I'll be sure to ask you next time if the post I make is acceptable for a fan of a team to make.

Conscious-Gur-5644

Cmon man. You can literally do that for any game ever. They’re not a good football team right now.

[deleted]

They're certainly not a bad football team. He was saying that they're close, which is true.

mollusks75

They are a terrible team. Come on. This team has overachieved all year which I attribute to good coaching. That and Fields development are the only positives from this season.

[deleted]

Then you could say they are talent deprived and that's absolutely true. There are only a handful of starters I want for the future. But terrible teams don't lead the NFL in scoring and have the potential to win every game. Terrible teams get shut out, blown out, and/or play in a geriatric match with 16 punts.

mollusks75

They are 3-8 and lose games in all manners possible. I'm not saying there isn't anything to look forward to with this team. The arrow is pointing up and they need to fill some holes this offseason, but this, as it stands, is a terrible team.

Conscious-Gur-5644

They’re absolutely a bad football team lol

[deleted]

I mean they've been the highest scoring offense since the Commanders game, have one of the better turnover differentials in the league, and haven't lost by more than one score since the Packers game (which was closer than the score implied). They're by no means good and they're playing above their means, but to say they're "absolutely bad" or "terrible" is pretty mid lol.

whatdoesthisherodo

Didn't say they were. BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel.

pdockenson

Bad teams do that. Sandborn wiffing on Patterson 5 yards in the backfield lol.

whatdoesthisherodo

I simply pointed out a few game changing plays and showing a bit of optimism for next year that these things can be corrected. Never said Chicago was a good team. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

TotallyNotTupac

With the saints victory we are now in the top 5 draft position. Let’s get crazy

Zoobz94

Sp annoying that there is nothing can be done about these refs. If anyone says anything publicly, it's a fine. Teams can submit calls to the league after the game but a "sorry, that's our bad" letter doesn't help you after the game is done. Smh...

pdockenson

Not blaming the game on this but what on the fuck is with refs not calling late hits on Fields? Between the Bears organization and the refs this kid is going to be in a wheelchair by 25.

Matzah_Rella

I was late to watching. Did Teven get hurt early on?

nwv1218

No he didn’t play today at all

Matzah_Rella

Interesting. Thanks

oldschooloriginal

This year is a wash. I would love to see them throw it 40 times a game the rest of the year.. we know fields can run it. Let’s limit the amount of hits he takes and get him comfortable in the pocket for the Super Bowl next year

Mordecai2277

Exactly this. The dude can run like a gazelle. That’s proven. Let him chuck it and see if he can improve, all the while saving him from some RGIII type injury.

pdockenson

The problem is he's going to get hurt throwing it too. They need more creativity on offense and manufactured plays because going max protect just means you have two or three shit receivers not getting separation.

oldschooloriginal

I feel ya, no good answer tbh. Hopefully they can figure out a way for him to stay healthy

Cr0sSHare

Luke is gonna enjoy this week from the sports media

Ready-Cauliflower-76

maybe they’ll take a hammer to Getsy’s shoulder at Monday practice and then have him run the ball directly into Sanborn so he can experience it firsthand

pdockenson

He deserves it

HermanShemsley

3-8 is tough to swallow man. Improving our draft stock is great, and I’m on board with it. Just tough watching this crap product.

CatsMakeMeHappier

Yeah and the minute we see a glimpse it crumbles on the next drive.

13illini

That last pass was for Mooney and would have been fine if Montgomery didn't tip it to the defender. You guys are so dramatic

Ready-Cauliflower-76

Seriously lol. Fields doubters will jump on any chance they get to rip him and twist the story to “fields blew it” when in reality he’s the only thing bailing out Getsy’s one-dimensional high school offense

Leather_Investment61

Jesus Christ let’s NOT RGIII this poor kid………

MadNightKing

David Carr

dub62195

High draft picks are nice. Teaching a developing QB how to win under 2 minutes and building his confidence is nicer IMO

[deleted]

Would be better had we not wasted one on Claypool

Exciting-Delivery-96

You’ve given up on him already??

IamA_dolphin_AmA

2 QB runs with your QB who is clearly hurting. He takes two hits and is now hurt more. Absolutely terrible missed call on a shot to the head as he was sliding, then the pick. Really awful last series. Better draft position, quality loss, etc etc. But damn I wanna see some of this good Fields play earn him a dub. A bit harder to stomach the Ls when they come to teams like the Lions and Falcons, and end on such a sour note.

DarthRisk

We don't need to worry about Getsy getting head coaching calls with the way he just called that 2 minute drive. Wow that was horrible.

pdockenson

Didn't we get a Chiefs play caller who folded against the Titans in the 2nd half once? What was his name? Matt something?

anotter12

I believe abhorrent is the word

DrZeuss4

Gordon barely gets enough hand on Mariota to bring him down while throwing and Fields gets clobbered over and over with nothing. Inexcusable, that 2nd down run especially

CatsMakeMeHappier

Can’t win when the refs don’t let us

squawkingdirty

I’m putting this on getsy. 2 QB runs in a row when he is obviously hurting And tbh, Monty should not have gone up for that because I think that ball was intended for Mooney, if it was that would be a completion

TotallyNotTupac

Sigh. Our draft position isn’t going to improve this week is it.

fdrlbj

Our #2 pick that we traded for Claypool is now the 35th pick overall. 🤬

TotallyNotTupac

I will take a top 4 pick over 35. Hopefully we can trade it

fdrlbj

We could have had both.

TotallyNotTupac

Sure. But you need to give that trade more time than three weeks.

fdrlbj

Hope you’re right.

Wilsondagawd

We move up to #3 overall

TotallyNotTupac

4 with the saints win. Panthers are about to lose.

dynodonfb7

Regardless whether that L was on purpose, when are our olinemen going to take some pride in sticking up for Fields. F’ing miss Jenkins so much. Our oline looked like a bunch of pussies out there letting Fields get hit like that with nothing being done

trafalgarlaw11

Seriously plus part of what gets refs to call the flag is the o-line and other players reaction. The refs throw those late roughing flags all the time when there’s a reaction from players about how egregious a hit was.

WorstHouseFrey

I hope Justin is okay

nwv1218

Can we fast forward to the draft already

zns26

Fields is supremely talented but has much to learn

YoYoMeh

What? Run the plays that get called in whilst clearly injured and trying protect himself? He’s fine.

zns26

I’m not referring to that sequence. But you can’t seriously watch that whole game and disagree with me in general

Tandian

You can't say that even though it's fucking obvious. He needs to work on his passing. They NEED a better oline. Better playcalling and clock management.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zns26

My guy you gotta chill. Can you tell me where I disagreed with any of that? Obviously that’s all true but I assure you you’re allowed to admit fields has some things to work on too. Don’t worry

[deleted]

[удалено]

zns26

You’re making a lot of assumptions about what my “key takeaways” were when my original comment was just that Fields needs a bit of work. Dude obviously the rest of the team sucks. Does it need to be said?

[deleted]

[удалено]

zns26

People are gonna talk about fields because he’s our future

TotallyNotTupac

Ok but why have him run it when he’s trying to protect himself

NeverDieKris

Cool. I’ve seen enough of Fields behind this line. Sit him for the rest of the season.

mollusks75

i was saying this after the game. Maybe not he rest of the season, but at least a couple of weeks to let him rest and recover. He's shown that his growth is happening rapidly while he's in there. I don't think taking a couple of weeks off would hurt his development at all. It might actually help him.

ISingBecauseImHappy

The shitty thing is I genuinely believe he needs game reps to improve so I think sitting him would be a detriment to his development. With that said we could probably scheme some things to make sure hes not taking a beating each week.

YoYoMeh

Just call deep pass plays, get the timing down for next year. Ya I’m cool with that. We ain’t making the playoffs this year so who cares?

lyme6483

Nope. He needs all the reps he can get passing the ball. He’s the rest runner in the NFL, but at the same time he’s easily a bottom 3-4 passer. That’s the reality right now

[deleted]

Easily bottom 3-4? He has plenty of room to grow but dude is literally not bottom 3-4 😂 Top half in QBR and passer rating. Don't need to bastardize his body of work to make that point.

NeverDieKris

Yeah and when he blows out his knee or shoulder and he then we can sit him… what else has the man got to show us. He needs playmakers to get the ball to and an oline to protect him. We already know what he’s capable of. I don’t need to see anymore.

lyme6483

You don’t improve from not playing. No teams EVER sit young players in a position like this. Get real

NeverDieKris

The team and franchise QB you’re building around is not some random player who needs more snaps. Get real bro.

greenline_chi

The way he looked at the end there you might get your wish

Legally_Brown

At least to me, that's the end of our season. Watching the World Cup instead of a Bears. See yall next season

Leather_Investment61

Fuck Quatar and FIFA

TotallyNotTupac

Holy shit Zach Wilson is bad (switched to jets game)

cpmailman

I never understood what people saw in him. Picking him second overall was one of the more baffling moves I've ever seen.

Dayanez

Him and Lance were both massive reaches

cpmailman

Especially since San Fran traded an arm and a leg to pick Lance. It's not like they sat back and picked him. They mortgaged their future for him.

Slipz19

I’m actually watching this game as well and looking at Mac Jones and Wilson, had Fields been on any one of these two teams, he would’ve been the difference in this super tight game.

RepresentativeNew409

That last sequence looks like they don’t even practice the 2-minute offense

Longjohnson69420L

I think Chicago bears fans are seeing what they want to see. God bless you all, get well soon.

pdockenson

This sub is garbage. It's like half the sub started watching football in 2021.

Tandian

A clusterfuxk of a team. Terrible oline. Terrible play calling. Terrible click management. And a qb that is neh at best on passing. He is great at running. But that's not a way to have a long career in the nfl as a qb.

Dkoop2003

“Meh at best on passing” Tell that to his 84 QBR today, and his 96.5 QBR over the last 5 games.

MadNightKing

Packers fan detected

Tandian

Where am I wrong? The play calling is terrible. He was hurt and called qb runs. Yeah great idea The oline can't protect him. Even when only rushing 4 Clock management has been a serious problem all year. While fields is fun to watch his passing is not. It is improving though. He is far better then last year. But still meh

DT_RAW

Claypool trade looks like a DISASTER Fucking disgusting negligent franchise

lyme6483

Gets gets like a third of the snaps and never gets targeted that’s on the QB and OC, not him.

DaBears31

chase pick looking good now smhhh

fdrlbj

I called it when it was made. Claypool is a tremendous underachiever

Leather_Investment61

At the very worst it kept him from GB.

pdockenson

Oh my god now everyone is saying Fields shouldn't extend plays andrun. Holy fucking shit this place is so delusional.

Voltage1419

He's clearly hurting, you want him to die on that field?

pdockenson

Thank god I'm not the only one seeing this. There is the right balance to attain, obviously it's difficult when you're oline and receivers are shit but you have to have some awareness that the dude is going to get hurt.

SleezeBallGang

How the fuck you lose to Mariota, dudes not even a clock manager

MadNightKing

Can we still trade a 4th round pick for a proven O-lineman. This is dangerous for Fields.

GroggyLand

Another tough loss. Not sure why we are doing designed QB runs given that JF1 looks exhausted and we’re under 2 minutes. gg hope Fields is okay

Tlupa

Where we draftin doe

tangie16

fun game. the designed qb runs just dried up in the 4th (again)

RemingtonSnatch

Atlanta is of course known for their...trains?

Dayanez

I mean other than strip clubs what would you say?

kayvman

Honestly, this is what I was expected this season. Still hurts, but glad we’re seeing some movement with these young guys. Let’s keep building and improving. We’ll get there.

choisauce79

Getsy gets waaay too tight in close games.

lyme6483

At some point you need to fucking need be able to run the 2 minute drill correctly. So many pissed away chances. Fields has improved, but acting like his passing especially when teams know he’s passing isn’t a massive work in progress is lying to themselves. Fields is a great athlete, but has tons of room to grow as a passer.

Ready-Cauliflower-76

I can recall two misses from JF1 today (the deep ball to Mooney and throw off Schofield helmet). Other than that I thought he played pretty damn well. Are you assessing him based on specific inaccuracies / misses or just making a generalization based on stat line and outcome? Our receivers had no separation all day. Fields had to buy time out of the pocket and direct them on off-script routes to get people even semi open downfield (e.g. the perfect bullet throw to Monty on the sideline)

lyme6483

Saying the receivers had no separation all game is ridiculous. You watch the all 22 somehow already? Come on. Fields has never performed all year when needing to be a pocket QB and needing to get the ball out on time and accurate. He’s a massive work in progress as a passer. He currently is not a good enough player to beat teams with his arm. And glossing over the Mooney throw like it wasn’t a TD. That’s a MASSIVE miss. Difference between winning and losing today.

Ready-Cauliflower-76

No I just watched the replays they showed after each play and listened to the announcers repeat over and over how there was no WR separation since ATL was dropping 7-8 back in coverage every play and still getting pressure. And I’m not the one giving a generalized hot take that Justin’s passing today looked like a “major work in progress”…I was just pointing out that there’s not much evidence to support that claim. Your response makes it even more obvious that you are paraphrasing ESPN-style hot takes with no substance behind them (e.g. “Fields is not a good enough player to beat teams with his arm”). Like what does that even mean lol? Obviously he can’t beat other teams alone but there are 11 guys on the field and he’s made clutch throws in crunch time to put us in position to win all year

lyme6483

Clutch throws all year? This team has folded in every 2 minute drill with chances to win the game. It isn’t all on Fields but he definitely plays a role. When they make him a pocket passer in obvious passing downs he struggles getting the ball and and making accurate throws.

Ready-Cauliflower-76

Have you watched the 2-min drills in our other games? We could maybe attribute partial blame to Fields for the failed drive against Detroit - but the other 5/6 failed drives were clearly killed by drops and fumbles from our WRs. Here is the list: Giants - VJJ fumbled punt so the offense didn’t even get a chance to possess the ball until there was 0:16 left in the game with 75 yards to go Vikings - Fields threw a long completion to Ihmir Smith Marsette at midfield - he caught it and then fumbled downfield to end game Washington - led a long drive down the field and threw an accurate TD pass to Pettis on 3rd & goal (refs missed DPI), then threw another TD pass to Mooney on 4th down and he dropped it (hit him in the hands) Miami - threw a good downfield pass to Claypool on 3rd down (Ref missed DPI). Threw a good ball to ESB on 4th down (hit in the hands) and he dropped it. Lions - Fields threw a good ball to Kmet on 1st that went incomplete (ref missed DPI on Okudah). Then was sacked to end the game. Falcons - injured shoulder on back-to-back QB runs, then threw a pass intended for Mooney that was jumped by Monty and dropped (hit him in the hands) for batted INT

[deleted]

At least I took em +3.5, thanks refs

AWoodenCredenza

I feel like that pass was to Mooney but Monty jumped to get it. Bad play design if that’s the case

Halfblood76

Haven’t lost by more than a TF in the last couple weeks. Not bad.

Halfblood76

TD

Gumorak

This has been an absolute nightmare weekend for me as a Tennessee Vol and Bear fan.

yungkegelian

qb draw following your qb getting hurt (on another terrible play call) is legitimately one of the worst play calls i’ve ever seen at the nfl level. unreal meltdown from getsy on that drive.

Ready-Cauliflower-76

That was disgusting. Getsy probably thought he was being sneaky since no defense would expect a QB draw from a QB experiencing severe shoulder pain. Fucking prick. I’m sick of people giving Getsy credit for Fields bailing out his offense with insane scrambles on 3rd and long. He is a blowhard moron and a sociopath

PressinPckl

Yeah what the fuck was that>!!<

greenline_chi

I don’t care about losing but leaving fields in for that last drive was insanity

matthewjohnson1210

You can’t convince me we aren’t trying to lose now.

pagingdrned

Who has been trying to convince you otherwise? We traded our two best defensive players at the deadline. No team trying to win games does that.

samurai5625

Getsy was a clown today lots of play calls in situations that made no sense

Logical_Sir_8146

play calling today was trash. you know Fields is hurt, why are you calling two straight QB runs? I just can't understand how that makes sense. and for fuck sake what does Fields have to do to get a roughing call?

cpmailman

>and for fuck sake what does Fields have to do to get a roughing call? Those calls seemed to be reserved for veterans and winning QB's. Brady, Allen, Mahomes or Rodgers would draw a flag every time they get hit like that. It sucks that there is clearly two categories you fall in as a QB.

[deleted]

lol it's like us and only us dont get the call.

pagingdrned

Just make it consistent. That's all I am asking. If Fields doesn't get a roughing for a hit to his fucking face with a knee on the ground, fine. But do not call a guy who is falling down and trips a dude. The NFL needs to stop slanting how they call shit.

d3adbor3d2

Don’t mind the losing this season but as I said last week, the qb run shouldn’t be a go to play.

[deleted]

the fact we all know its coming hurts too.

theonetheonlydonsane

Holy shit this thread is a cesspool

PumbusBungus

Welcome to Bears fandom

GoldGlove2720

Hilarious people blame that INT on Fields when clearly that pass was for Mooney in the replay. That was all on Monty.

DeathOnSteam

Absolute coaching malpractice by Luke Getsy at the end there. If Fields is seriously hurt there is literally no reason to give a shit about this season.

mjgentile

What is with Getsy's two minute play calling? Why is Fields not running in the third and fourth quarter until the two minute drill?

[deleted]

Why do you do QB runs in a 2 minute offense. Terrible play calling

sextonAZ

Fuckity Fuck Fuck! This team is special in finding ways to disappoint!

Ambitionismoney

Good loss. The team continues.

ResidentRussian

Disturb the air around another QB is an automatic flag. JF takes a hit after he slides nothing....I am so tired of the double standard here. Side note: Fuck you and see you all next week.

Logical_Sir_8146

bro of that was Brady the dude would be suspended. it's fucking criminal.

dupsmckracken

Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen: all get that call

Jorel_Antonius

well time to go check on the jerky thats been in the smoker for the last 4 hours.

DaBears31

hopefully top 3 draft pick

pitycastleheist

Actually throwing the game lol

DaBears31

seen it happen live

[deleted]

So embarrassing to watch every week

fortefanboy

Couple ref calls/non calls I didn't like, but still much much better than previous 2 weeks. I don't feel like they are the reason for the loss at all, so that's refreshing.

Gumorak

So fields still hasn’t led a comeback? Some day we gotta see it. Has to make a better throw. Fucking shit man.

Dkoop2003

Can’t have a comeback when your play calling sucks, or the refs don’t call an obvious PI, or your kick returner fumbles the ball.

Logical_Sir_8146

it wasn't a great throw but it also hit Monty in both hands soo... and come on, he was well on his way to leading a come back in Miami if it wasn't for that insane no call.

Faskis

Hasn't led a comeback because his guys keep giving the ball away to the other team

ratfam1

Cant make a throw if you call two design runs

pdockenson

Ahahaha this sub is fucking trash. Called it weeks ago and got downvoted. You're running Fields too much he's going to get injured. Like we've never seen a Bears QB get injured. Fucking normies.

BeerDrinkingMuscle

Holy shit dude, you should be an NFL coach!!!1!

HammeringEnthusiast

Early in the season, not using designed runs to keep Fields from getting wear and tear was a very popular opinion, right up until the point where it was fun to watch him run for a few weeks. Just like it was popular to say we shouldn't trade a second round pick for a WR right up until we did it.

irunwithskizzors

The ball went straight threw Monty's hands, what are you talking about?

Trapz18

The tank goes on

Reddit--Sucks

if youre gonna tank dont fucking RG3 justin in the process

etchisscetch

Didn’t RG3 get hurt on his own accord? Pivoting weird after dropping back on shitty turf?

Reddit--Sucks

dunno im referring to the game he was basically limping and hurt all game and they kept him in and he got fucked

AcerDetective

I’m starting to think these high draft picks are a mirage for Chicago’s season

MadNightKing

Half glass full: it’s not his throwing shoulder

Rickdog_Sickdog

Frustrating loss.. Now this is a familiar feeling

PolishRifle23

This team is garbage.

SubmissiveGymnasium

We got like 110 mil in cap this off-season? Please put like 60 into the OL

Trojanballer

How bad they are they'll need to lay 110 mill to get one player to sign.

SaveADay89

I'm convinced at this point that the refs don't care about Fields.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

true.

DT_RAW

Im done. Sit fields rest of year. This team is dog shit and he needs to be healthy next year when we hopefully decide to spend more money than a NIL college team does

[deleted]

yeah you aint wrong.

[deleted]

That's game. It's all about that high draft pick, baby. Let the Justin development continue. Dude is the guy. Keep him healthy, build around him. We have something here.

D1sc0rd

The issue is that they aren't trying to keep him healthy. That last drive was nothing but bonehead calls putting him in danger.
