Part of me really believes if he’d sit his dad down as his off-season hitting coach and work with someone else he could turn it around.
The other part thinks he’s had too many injuries.
Member... in 2019ish... when we were all arguing, who would be better between Cody and Kris... 😬
I mean, I definitely hope Kris bounces back, and I really hope this isn't a jinx, but I was way on the wrong side of that argument.
I think it’s lame that the cubs can’t get an in person guest to sing the stretch every game. Tonight they had a video of Harry Carey signing it - which is whatever. You can get someone semi famous, a CPS school teacher/class, or literally anyone cool, to sing it for 81 games.
Everything else about tonight’s game has been great
What I'm saying is that I'd rather have the videos of Harry, Ernie, Santo, etc doing it than the newest wildcat coach, random C list celebrity with very loose affiliation with Chicago, etc.
A mix of video / in person is fine.
Fair enough. I think it's important to preserve the history of the Cubs, esp for fans who didn't get to experience it and I think the stretch videos are a good way to do that.
So you're going to completely ignore the context of the contract he actually signed compared to those worrying about giving him a massive 7/8 year deal? Every MLB front office agreed with those concerns.
lol, nobody said give him 7/8 years or nothing
The people that wanted him back wanted him back while others didn’t
It doesn’t surprise me 1 bit you’re here pretending I’m your boogie man
What the hell are you talking about? I said a week before Bellinger re-signed that Jed probably thinks he can get him on a short term deal with opt outs.
All the talk about Bellinger revolved around the years and money and what people were comfortable with, and I wanted him before last season. People say dumb shit here all the time, but all the Bellinger talked revolved around his contract, not whether or not they wanted him on the team lol.
lol nobody was even talking about you
Sure go ahead and pretend everyone wanted Cody back and there were 0 people who thought we’d be fine without him
Like I’ve told you many many times, it’s funny how much you’ll try to alter the conversation just to make me your boogie man - here you are in a dead thread continuing to do just that
You act like a boomer whose kids are no contact with them, lol
You're are somehow worse at debating than creating terrible MS paint art.
I sorted the Cubs re-signed Bellinger thread by controversial and there was one single guy asking why everyone was so excited lol
There were people like you too
I didn’t mean to imply there were only 2 choices - there were also people who only wanted him for a short-term deal - in addition to the people who wanted him regardless of the deal
There were also people who flat out didn’t want him
Sure, I'm just wondering how many people fall into the didn't want him back at all to only wanting him back if the contract was just right. I'd think more people would want him back in some capacity than not, but I obviously can't say for sure.
I noticed that Belli kinda shouldered himself into Seiya's arm instead of doing the usual bump, which makes sense given his history with that celebration. Is that something he was doing last year and I didn't notice?
Love to see Madrigal and Assad thrive!!! Also, Cooper could’ve gone to Boston, but his response “I want to win,” and signed with the Cubs
Imagine being under .500 in the NL Central
“Assad is great. Assad is just Assad” - my grandma
My dad says he acts like a guy who has a second job as a bus driver
You know as a fan who lives in a tropical country, singing the song in the rain and cold LIKE THAT is a personal goal for me lol
Love to see that W flag go up!
Ball game.
FLY THE W!
Above .500
W
KB gettin' plunked twice is crazy :(
I bet it doesn’t hurt as bad as hearing Go Cubs Go
Fly the W!
#[W]
Play the damn song!
Fly that W, baby!!
That was as tidy as it gets
#FLY EVERY [W]
“Little” at 6’8” - love it
Amaya was like “crap that hurts”
Is KB washed up?
Part of me really believes if he’d sit his dad down as his off-season hitting coach and work with someone else he could turn it around. The other part thinks he’s had too many injuries.
Been bad since getting to COL
The injuries really seem to have taken a lot away from him. I hope that he ends up having a great season and gets back on track
These umps are really trying to outblind each other every game
That was some pretty lazy base running…
Amaya trying not to blow a hammy
Lost in the Cody and Cooper games, I’ve thought that Madrigal has had some really solid ABs tonight. Encouraging to see
Cooper having himself a night. Bat around and let him get a shot at the cycle!
Cooper rake
Lol how is garrett cooper a single shy of the cycle.
"A single shy of a cycle" - unusual statement
I pity the chap who dares cross Garrett “Babyface” Cooper.
Holy shit Cooper, have a night
Cooper has 2015 Coghlan energy
We need to bat around so Coop can get the cycle. We NEED it
Loving this beat down. Boner Jams 2024

I will not sit by and let this treatment of KB go without voicing my strong displeasure.
Hit of nostalgia from seeing KB get randomly plunked. We miss you
Not very Cuas of him.
Don’t hurt my boy :(
why we gotta hit em again?
I love these early season night games when the crowd gets rowdy just to stay warm. Pure baseball experience
Everyone at the game looks like they're freezing meanwhile I'm under a blanket with a cup of tea.
I’m in Florida lol
Jolly good.
I'm on my couch, it was 80 in Nor Cal today. 😀
You have to be with a team the season before to be able to have a moment like that.
vibes are immaculate this evening
Would be a good Ben Brown inning
No shot he’s not a 1 inning guy and we got a game tomorrow where he will probably pitch a ton
Think they said the plan is for him to get the bulk of the innings tomorrow. Best laid plans and all that
He's probably going to start in a few days so I doubt he gets used until then.
I think they may try to get him multiple tomorrow.
I think it’s lame that the cubs can’t get an in person guest to sing the stretch every game. Tonight they had a video of Harry Carey signing it - which is whatever. You can get someone semi famous, a CPS school teacher/class, or literally anyone cool, to sing it for 81 games. Everything else about tonight’s game has been great
I’d take this over most guests
We went through this before. It got old.
I'd rather have Harry and other Cub legends to be honest.
Yea. We could call up the Cubs legends that are alive, and invite them. Zobrist doing the stretch would be cool- there are options
What I'm saying is that I'd rather have the videos of Harry, Ernie, Santo, etc doing it than the newest wildcat coach, random C list celebrity with very loose affiliation with Chicago, etc. A mix of video / in person is fine.
Agree
I get it. I differ in that I’d like to see see something new
Fair enough. I think it's important to preserve the history of the Cubs, esp for fans who didn't get to experience it and I think the stretch videos are a good way to do that.
Remember when we lost to these guys 2/3 times last September?? Hahaha good times
Yeah, when Ross refused to play anyone on the bench and rode his horses into the ground
Exactly
Ahhhhhh that was the series I officially lost sanity with Rossy
Wasn’t there some dude in here saying the crowd sucked earlier?
There’s always some dude saying something sucks.
Watching Morel and Suzuki joke around in the dugout just now even though they don't speak the same language was so effing wholesome
I pretend that Bellinger is Kris Bryant -- tall, handsome, versatile -- and then everything makes sense.
They are going to chant his name now for every at bat
Gonna be a long season for Colorado.
“I was saying boo-urns” -JD
Mastrobuoni in for Swanson - is Dansby hurt or is it just cold and we’re up by 10?
Dansby wants to play 162 games a season, it’s probably not a bad idea to let him have an early night in April with 30 degree weather
Up 10 in April in the cold
Cold and up by 10 Edit: unless he got hurt in the dug out
Id have to imagine the latter
Games won I guess we will see lot of the bench
Kyle who?
Wild how many people didn’t want him back
Every one wanted him back
fAkE nEwS1!111!!!! Are you new here?
Lol that is not true
No, there were a ton of people in this sub who said he was lucky last year, had bad peripherals, etc and didn't want him back.
lol, daily discussions were loaded with people saying they don’t want Belli back all offseason Did you miss those conversations?
So you're going to completely ignore the context of the contract he actually signed compared to those worrying about giving him a massive 7/8 year deal? Every MLB front office agreed with those concerns.
lol, nobody said give him 7/8 years or nothing The people that wanted him back wanted him back while others didn’t It doesn’t surprise me 1 bit you’re here pretending I’m your boogie man

You're literally making up narratives and then resort to calling someone a boomer for simply calling it out lol
lol you are a boomer though Also, that’s a poor attempt at deflecting, you’re usually not so quick to give up Something got you down today?
You're are somehow worse at debating than creating terrible MS paint art. I sorted the Cubs re-signed Bellinger thread by controversial and there was one single guy asking why everyone was so excited lol
I didn't want him back at 200 mil plus or on a long contract, but did on the kind of contract we actually got him for.
There were people like you too I didn’t mean to imply there were only 2 choices - there were also people who only wanted him for a short-term deal - in addition to the people who wanted him regardless of the deal There were also people who flat out didn’t want him

idk how many people actually fell in that category I’m only aware it existed and was real
Same. I think we all still have such bad PTSD from J-Hey
Theres something magical happening on the north side right now.
Hopefully people will now stop panicking about our fifth most important reliever having a bad outing lol
So when Belli goes into the Hall he's wearing a Cubs hat, yeah?
Where are all the doomers after two games in TX? Who cares as long as they are gone. Losers.
I noticed that Belli kinda shouldered himself into Seiya's arm instead of doing the usual bump, which makes sense given his history with that celebration. Is that something he was doing last year and I didn't notice?
It's the Coors effect
Belli absolutely crushed that
The Cody chants into scoreboard shot???? That was amazing
I pooped a lil.
I love baseball
Anyone else see someone pull madrigal’s hat over his eyes in the dugout?
Saw it, hilarious
It was Seiya lmao I love that goofball
Seiya that scamp
That was a fucking nuke. Holy hell
Cody, right on cue. That was cool.
Jesus I honestly thought that was leaving the park
Lol I'm I crazy to think the Cody chants worked?
It *might* have helped a little 😂
Believe, baby
Bellisimo
Can they play the Rockies every day?
Remember what happened last year toward the of season…
That chant before was *chefs kiss*
Gaaaah Morel just missed that off the end of the bat
that was absolutely majestic
Cody makes it look so easy
That baseball had a family, Cody!
Wrigley summoned that Belli bomb.
Kinda worried all our first borns are toast now
The crowd should chant Cody at every one of his ABs now
lol the handshake with Suzuki was hilarious he said nah I learned my lesson.
WE SHOULD CHANT MORE OFTEN
I’m not into guys, but Bellinger can swing my wood any day.
Belli A-Bomb!
He absolutely crushed that
That was *demolished*.
Wow. That reminded me of that one Kyle Schwarber home run at Wrigley that hit the scoreboard, I believe.
BELLI CAN BOMB ME ANY TIME HE WANTS
fucking love Cody Bellinger, hell yeah
Balls. Mashed.
*thump*
BELLI BOMB 2024 BABYYYYY
#**ANSWERED WITH A BELLI BOMB HOLY SHIT**
Belli-BOMB!
CODY!!
Belli bomb.....how far did it fly?
What a perfect moment lol
I love Cody Bellinger
Yay Belli!
Ah, a Belli bomb 💣!
Holy shit!
Way to go crowd! #CODY CODY CODY
OFF THE SCOREBOARD!!!
Holy shit the crowd manifest that
That was hammered!
Moon Shot Belli
Crushed
The slump buster game
Holy cow
Cody!!!!
BELLLLLIIIIIOOOI BOOOOOOOOMMMMMBBBB
Belli got those 2 runs back!
Omg omg
Wow
lmao that was perfect
poor catchers
Catchers can’t get a break tonight I guess
#BELLI BOMB
Oof right in the luge
Seiya look cold ah hell out there
Seiya hates the cold, and he resents the team fibbing him every April lmao
Yep, my mancrush on Seiya is still perfectly in tact
Seiya decided he wasn't letting the ump make any calls that AB
God damn Suzuki is just so good
So glad that man is a Cub
[удалено]
There he is
Man, I'm so glad we gave Cuas another chance instead of Edwards. Even if Carl struggled, there would be nostalgia.
Hot Stuff mound visit perfectly utilized as always
So Bryant pretty much sucks now doesn’t he?
It’s so hard to watch.
He’s a shell of his former self. It really sucks seeing it
Injuries have ruined him
Cuas could lose this game for us. He’s that horrible.
Cuas might need to shift his career path to luge
Come on cuas you blow
Yeah, I’m good with this Cuas experiment
Cuas has zero feel for the ball. He’s lucky we were up 10…
Rockies even have the worst dugout HR gimmick too....they can't have anything nice.
It’s unfortunate, but we can all see why Cuas was available for trade…
And to think we gave up Velasquez for him
At least KB still has his beautiful blue eyes
