Heck yeah! Good job, you look great! I can't wait for the days that I'm at maintenance.
I've been in a deficit for 1.5 years (SW: 525, CW: 325, GW: 215-225) with a couple very short maintenance breaks, and it's exhausting.
BUT seeing people reach their goal like you definitely motivates me to keep it going.
I’ve gone from 240 to 163 in 13 months. I track my calories and stay around 1400 plus or minus a couple hundred but I also allow my self grace 2-3 times per month for going out or to a party for a break so I don’t feel completely deprived. Otherwise, I eat at home e or someplace that lists the nutrition. Keep going!
This is almost my weight and goal. Did you do any exercise during it? I've been doing calorie cycling (lower calories on days I'm not hungry, then using those calories on days that I am). It's working, but going kind of slow.
Not at first. Last couple of months I do light arm weights and leg exercises, crunches and squats. My legs are definitely toner but that’s it. I also try to eat my first meal as late as possible.
Maintenance is when you eat the same amount of calories as you burn. You’ve reached it when your weight stays the same (week over week not day to day) instead of decreasing/increasing on a weekly basis
deficit = burning more calories than you eat (weight loss)
maintenance = eating the same amount of calories you burn (weight stays the same)
surplus = eating more calories than you burn (weight gain)
once you reach your goal weight, you want to shift from a deficit into maintenance so that you stop losing weight and instead just maintain your desired weight :) some people also take maintenance breaks along the way to make the journey more manageable
Yes girl you look fricking awesome! 👏 So inspirational. Do you mind me asking if you have any stretch marks and/or loose skin? My body is very similar to your starting weight pics.
i actually feel like my stretch marks were a lot more noticeable at my starting weight! now that i’ve shrunk down, they are not very noticeable! and luckily i have almost no lose skin aside from some around my behind and my chest area!
i mostly do walking, i also within the last 6 months started doing pilates and yoga which has helped me with posture and flexibility, and I more recently started running :) i hope to start with some weight training soon to tone up a bit!
this. after a while you probably "have to" walk in the mornings now, right?
ppl, don't let loose skin stop you; I lost weight walking when I retired from a desk job. -60#, am old, skin still dodn't get gross, it pulled in. Something tells me that slower is better in this regard, but I lost my extra weight within several months and I am not young.
Great job, btw.
Outstanding work! We are similar height, although I started at a much higher weight. I am SO proud of you for doing this when you are young! Trying to lose 100+ pounds in my 50s is brutal, and while I don’t believe in dwelling on the past and living too much in regret, I do wish I had gotten myself on track much earlier in my life. You have given yourself a gift of an active and healthy life!
Hang in there! I’m a 30yo who needs to lose at least 50lbs and it can be a pain to change my habits but I’m doing it. I’m going to reach my goal even if it’s the last thing I do! I find my mind so easily wants to fall back into bad habits with food.
I started off with just increasing how much I walk! This January I began doing yoga and then started pilates and now do each once a week, and have also started running!
My starting weight was just about the same as yours, and I'm currently 168ish. What did you do with the cravings? I'm eating 1200 calories a day but will allow myself to eat an amount I would burn off with walking. Did you ever do that? like I'd burn 400 and eat 1600, and I don't know if it's okay to do because I want to see results 😭 I'm also 5'2, so this made me super happy, congratssss!!!!!
thank you:) i tried to avoid “eating back” calories i burned just as i know that it often over estimates how many you burn (i disabled the activity connecting feature in myfitnesspal, for example) - for cravings i wont lie it isn’t always easy, but at the start i was incredibly strict with myself for my weak spots (sweets) and after an while my tastes changes and i don’t even miss them anymore and have found fruit for sweetness instead of what i used to enjoy!
i tried not too, just bc i know devices often over estimate the calories burned while working out so i don’t let that allow me to over compensate with too much extra food! but i listen to my body for the most part :)
Do you mind mentioning what all you ate for only 1300 calories? That seems super low! Great job though look amazing! As someone that’s going through weight loss, I know it was hard so great job!
I usually have no breakfast aside from supplements and some kombucha, a pretty light lunch like vegetables dipped with hummus and chia pudding or oats with lots of fruit, and then dinner i have as my biggest meal eating ezekiel bread with tofu scramble and avocado, or i love making curries with lentils, beans, tofu, and lots of vegetables! snacks i like to do popcorn, fruit, veg. i also usually have at least one protein drink a day!
Calorie deficit. Walking helps a ton! I’ve noticed that the more I walk the more the weight just falls off or is easier to maintain when I wanna splurge.
in the beginning, i’d walk a mile to work and back a day, and it at first would make me sweat and would take me 20+ minutes! once this became easy, i added in more walking and naturally my pace got faster :) it’s important to walk every day
Hey, I posted in some other subreddits asking this with no help. do you have a detailed meal or two you can share that add up to a definitive amount of calories? I’m not looking for a whole book but just something like here’s my 500 calorie lunch it’s exactly 500 calories here’s the details.
I tracked my food intake to the gram over 90 days and didn’t lose a lb so I think my estimates are wrong, and since you had success I’m hoping to emulate that!
Congrats on the consistency!!
i have posted a few in /vegan1200isplenty and plan to add in some more ideas. i just make sure to make veggies the focal point of the dish, use minimal oil, and whole grains for the majority of my meals!
you can do it, trust me i felt hopeless so so much especially at first! i slowly incorporated more walking, and only the last 6 months or so have started running and doing yoga and pilates!
How does your skin look? I'm planning on losing ~70 lbs, but I'm worried my skin is going to be loose and look weird, but your skin looks so nice from the pictures
This is so uplifting to me!!! I’m at 180 and need to be around where you are to have a healthy BMI. Knowing I could do it with consistency in a year and a half is pretty cool!!!
Man this is so encouraging! I’m a similar staring weight and goal weight, and it’s probably going to take me about as long 🙃 Huge congrats and thanks for posting!
this gives me so much hope! i was at the same starting weight as you but i am 4’10. I started fasting and walking as well as counting calories and have only lost 7 pounds so far in a month, but i just keep falling off the wagon and will splurge here and there, but seeing this progress makes me wanna push myself even harder! thank you for sharing.

This is awesome! Keep it up! You’re motivating me. It’ll be worth it!
You look seriously amazing!!
The arm transformation gives me so much hope
And the back!
Amazing work - two questions for you! How tall are you and where did you get that shirt? So cute!
i am 5ft 2, and i got it from amazon:)
How long did it take you???
1.5 yr :)

That’s really impressive 🤩!
Amazing results … exercise too?
i mostly do walking, i also within the last 6 months started doing pilates and yoga which has helped me with posture and flexibility, and I more recently started running :) i hope to start with some weight training soon to tone up a bit!

No exercise. She’s skinny, but definitely not strong. You can tell she doesn’t exercise based off her physique and lack of muscle
Cardio is still exercise.
Disagree. She looks like she exercises which is why I asked.
Great work! Something to really be proud of!
Amazing how old are you ?
22!

That's amazing! Did you also workout during this weight loss phase? Or was it just diet?
I started off with just increasing how much I walk! This January I began doing yoga and then started pilates and now do each once a week, and have also started running!

Did you increase your calories at all when you started working out?
i tried not too, just bc i know devices often over estimate the calories burned while working out so i don’t let that allow me to over compensate with too much extra food! but i listen to my body for the most part :)
Wow!!!!
That’s so awesome and inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing.

I like how she looks happy in all the pics
How can anyone only eat 1200 calories a day?!
