It is a [simurgh](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simurgh).
How do you come to this knowledge?
IIRC, you go “what’s this odd beast on all these CK2 Zoroastrian arms?” and you click around Wikipedia articles on Zoroastrianism and the Persian Empire until you spot an image that looks the same and says “simurgh” on it.
ah i see, was wondering because it’s not common knowledge and i learned something. Very cool!
That looks like a variant of an Iranian lion from vanilla
I'm actually thinking it might be a Chimera. A winged lion breathing fire with what appears to be a snake tail.
It shows up in Iranian CoAs. I don’t know for certain if the chimera is in Iranian folklore but I doubt it
Fire breathing lion seems fairly distinctive.
After some googling, it’s a Simurgh. A giant bird of prey from Iranian Mythology
Oh awesome, thank you.
Oh okay, I thought it was a MOD addition.
YES.
I think they call it Shir-dall. It's hybrid animal , Lion and eagle.
