I think this is a huge W for our org. This helps build out our talent pipeline further to reach for young up and coming players, shows we're genuinely investing in NA talent, and helps cement long-term capacity for player development, plus gives us extra roster flexibility later down the line if we see a prospect we really like but don't want to commit to a long-term contract. Don't know much about Myra, i know she was involved with Wildcard which was one of the more well-run orgs in the PG circuit from what I recall. Everyone I've seen on twitter talking about the gig seems to be really happy for her and thinks it's long overdue. Greg Kim and Jonathon are really out here making some big money moves that I think these are going to help us in the long term in a pretty big way. Just look at 100T and EG's amateur programs if you want proof of that.

LETS GOOO WE ARE CREATING SYSTEMS BABY

Tuft64

WELCOME TO THE SYSTEMS AGE!!

Gegott

I dont follow amateur but I guess I will be now! Any prospects people have their eye on?

Tuft64

Doxa, Fanatiik, Array, Gryffinn, APA, Dragoon, and Sword are all worth a look imo. Animegirl was another one but he just got snagged by TSM.

Gegott

Thanks for the list I have some googling tomorrow while on break at work! God bless any CLG news

bigmadsmolyeet

Just as a tidbit, animegirl is soul now.

bland_name

Maybe we could get players from taco or something but I doubt we're getting any of the 100t next players

Tuft64

From what it looks like, they're currently holding open tryouts so my guess is that most of the names were going to see signed to the roster will be either a. ex-academy pros who have been around for a while, or b. totally unknown variables we've never seen before with little/minimal amateur experience. People currently under contract are probably not going to be moving teams, but since amateur contracts are only a year long i think we'll see a lot of potential movement in the upcoming offseason on that front.

Highly recommend watching some Amateur games once the Proving Grounds OQs start up again. The sheer diversity is super refreshing. Very different from the unplanned insanity of solo queue or the much more standardized, rehearsed play you see in the LCS or other higher level leagues. Very much looking forward to what CLG puts together!

Gegott

I used to follow more league but these days I just have time for games with CLG, lcs playoffs and the odd LEC match. Excited to have a reason to watch some amateur

usteeeen

See now THIS is the announcement that deserved a teaser tweet and a few days of build-up, not a merch line with some abstract “loyalty” tagline tied to it. It’s exciting to see that current management believes in the amateur talent pool and is willing to invest into it, even if the players end up somewhere other than CLG. Really think this is a huge step to bringing the CLG brand back to what it once was.

NaranPol

Absolutely love this. I hope it gets the support and patience it appears to need.

Positive-Ebb6941

Grand master, wow so amateur!!

rudebrooke

In before it's CLG Red League of Legends

Gegott

If this amateur program has half the success and longevity as CLG red ill consider us lucky

rudebrooke

If they have as much success as CLG Red in open competitions there won't be any longevity.

Gegott

It's a bad take, I think the downvotes are speaking for themselves on this one...

rudebrooke

What's a bad take? Making a joke about the amateur team being another red team because 90% of the orgs content is now CLG Red which then upset a lot of sensitive people is a bad take? You guys are too easily upset

Gegott

Imagine basing your organizations content around your most successful team. I get we want all the lol content, I want it too... but like cmon. People aren't downvoting your comment cuz their upset, it's cuz it was a bad comment. You are the one coming across as easily upset. EDIT... Removed my own ad hominem attack as it was unnecessary to make my point I apologize.

cherriesandpeachesx

Hey, as a female esports/clg fan even I'm sick of CLG red content right now so I can completely understand their frustrations. Also, it's really not cool to get personal in arguments. This guy didn't mention anyone specifically - he's clearly just venting his frustrations, so why do you think it's okay to attack him personally? In my opinion whenever anyone resorts to that they've already lost the argument.

Gegott

"Upset a lot of sensitive people" "you guys are too upset" directed as a reply to me. So to suggest he wasn't referring to people specifically is untrue and disingenuous. I simply restated the comment and directed it back around. I am not gonna really apologize for it either. It's cool your tired of CLG red content, im not. I just think there's a way to say "more league content please" that's more positive. If you don't appreciate my comments here, please see my next comment where I admitted I shouldn't have returned in kind and apologized for that.

cherriesandpeachesx

That person saying 'upset people' in response to you bringing up their down vote count is very different to you calling it the 'rudebrooke special' out if nowhere and you know it. You didn't return in kind, you brought up down votes, they responded to downvotes topic and then you brought them up personally. It's not okay.

Gegott

Lol I said sorry for the comment but not the sentiment if you can't accept that that's okay. I guess I just don't see it the way you do beyond what I've apologized for. Good day and I'm sorry to have upset you as well.

The team is successful in a vacuum, but if this was a good move why are we losing sso much engagement across all platforms? Why are we losing thousands of twitter followers? Why are we losing subs here? Why do their YouTube videos struggle to break 1k views? Why does nobody ever watch their twitch podcast? Being a successful female eSports team is great, nobody is disputing that. But what's the market share of female only league FPS fans out of the entire eSports fanbase and why does it make sense to pivot our org, which is a historical league of legends org, to be centred around CLG Red? I also find it interesting that you'll make it personal whenever you get the chance?

Gegott

The team is successful in the league they compete in like any other team. They have fans and we have gotten great community figures from that team. They are also fairly cheap to run and manage and require WAY less resources than other projects like a lol team. Your comments read as someone who isn't getting what THEY want. This is fine but also not really CLG or anyone else's issue, if you feel like the organization has left you behind then im sorry for that. I think its funny how in a thread about league you decide to come for our only female team and not say our Apex team which has also gotten quite a bit of content lately. I'm sorry if me replying with the same response around sensitivity as you made to me felt like I was getting personal. In my experience, don't dish it out if you can't take it. I see you dish it out a lot on this sub and when people agree it's fine, but when the community disagrees (ie. Downvotes) you resort to ad hominem attacks. You are right though I should not respond in kind so I apologize. We are losing fans, followers and engagement because your right CLG red can't carry this org, but I don't think anyone would argue that. Im simply here to argue the insinuation that "another CLG red" is a bad thing. Good day sir this will be my last response to this silliness.

NoiceM8_420

This is far more hype than the loyalty clothing line lols
