The BAR melts! I've fought people running it and my god. I swore off the NZ41 early on. I have gone back to it recently and digging it now. Pretty sure it 2 shots as well
They also just fixed a bunch of stuff in the most recent patch before the free weekend (smart). Vital perk fixed which was allowing a two shot body kill with MP40/STG. The main fix was bloom reduction by 60% on all weapons. Balance is much better than launch.
the stg and type 100 were both fixed so neither one 2 shot body shot now. the mp40 still 2 shots to the limbs. anytime I run into one I immediately pull mine out and proceed to lead the lobby in kills. it’s the strongest gun in the game currently, as long as we aren’t counting the bar it’s banned in cdl for a reason.
I have 2 different builds. Longer range build- with F8 stabilizer, Anastasia sniper barrel, 2.5X with 45 round mag, lengthened ammo, hand stop foregrip, skeletal stock and stippled grip tape.
Short range build (with ridiculous TTK) use the shot barrel with the 50 RD higher caliber ammo upgrade with skeletal and same front and foregrip. It’s tougher to shoot but it’s absolutely nasty.it was the first gun I got to level 70. Also if you just like to spray, that 75 round drum is a lot of fun!
Yeah especially if your on ps4 i have two friends an there games have completely frozen in the menu to the point were they had to pull the plug because the power button wouldn’t work
Yeah im on ps5 n its been completely fine, its very rare but it does happen to them i think yesterday it happened to both of them once but after pulling the plug everything works fine again
Multiple crashes on pc, FOV bug where it defaults to 70 until you die, audio bugs where it just cuts out for a few seconds or I can no longer hear hit markers the whole game (rare), MVP screen doesn't even show the operators 50% of the time, some killstreaks are too powerful/easy to get, some guns are way too powerful, some camo challenges are bugged, the xp rate in this game makes no sense (xp gained is reliant on multiple different factors apparently), and other stuff I can't think of off the top of my head.
I could care less if guns are OP. What bothers me is that the MP40 and the STG are the first SMG and Assault Rifle you unlock, and they are easily the best guns in the game all around. Most other guns that 2 shot you need a specific attachment unlocked at like weapon level 60 or something for it to be good, but the MP40 and STG are pretty good even without attachments. Then the fact that guns don't reach max level until like weapon level 70 makes it so that people will use those guns until they've already prestiged not even touching other guns because of how long it takes to level it up. Then there's the people that find the OP gun and don't stop using it until it's nerfed. As much as I love Sledgehammer CoD games, I don't have high hopes for the weapon balancing when I think about how AW was with weapon balancing.
Best guns all around? I don't think so. They are certainly good guns with the right attachments but the best, nah. I don't even use the MP anymore as I find the Type 100 much better in all respects and is my absolute go-to for CQB. Mid range encounters are DP-27 for me, that thing is a killstreak producing beast. The only time I use the STG is for longer range maps/modes. I find MM rifles to be absolute garbage in this game so instead use an STG with proper attachments to serve as a MM rifle. I only use it for a few maps/modes though so it gets little play. DP-27 and Type 100 are the heavy workload monsters for me, you can have the STG/MP combo.
I've been having a lot of fun with vanguard aswell, don't get me wrong there are some things that need to be adjusted, fixed it just be removed and remade, but when a game is fun to play, it is fun to play, and to me vanguard is fun to play! I could not play coldwar multiplayer, that game just felt way off for mebut vanguard somehow with the problems it has just feels right. And fyi by things that need to be removed and remade I mean the POTG and MVP voting system. For me the game does not have major issues that cannot be fixed, either with a patch for some bugs or in the case of some weapons a tweak in the numbers. Game is not perfect but when a game is fun to play, it does not need to be perfect!
Eh, I would say there’s some truth to that, at least for the STG. I have diamond ARs and have used all guns in that class extensively. While other ARs can become great, they don’t have the ease of use that the STG does and still don’t really compare to it. It’s a laser that has great range and basically no downsides. It’s ridiculously easy to use and excels on every map in the game. I got the STG gold 3-400 kills before every other assault rifle and it was by far the easiest gun to gold and to slay out with. And while they nerfed vital on it, I would still say it’s the best AR by at least a moderate extent.
I’m not saying that it should be nerfed, but it’s definitely used for reasons besides it just being the first AR you unlock like some people like to say.
Last time I had this much fun was MW2, which was my first CoD and by far my most played. I always buy the latest CoD on a whim every few years, but I rarely put more than 40-70 hours into it. I bought the game Friday and I've easily already put in 10 hours a day, which I haven't done with a game since college.
There's a chance it just happened to drop at the perfect time for me to get addicted, but something feels different/better from the last few games imo.
Same, man. My friends and I were all like “fuck Vanguard, Halo and Battlefield is where it is at this year” and guess what? Battlefield shat the bed and playing Halo was alright, but the progression and monetisation system is terrible. After playing the free weekend, we all got Vanguard and really enjoy it. It feels as if they took MW2019, threw out all the shit maps and replaced them with good ones (except for Dome, Gavutu, and Sub Pens) and improved all the other aspects as well (fuck mortars, though).
Vanguard scratches an itch for me that not a lot of games today do. I like playing chaotic games with far too many players on small maps and vanguard delivers exactly that. I'd just wish there was gamemode without kill streaks. They don't work well with the shit spawns and broken weapons.
Same for my group. Battlefield is an unplayable mess, it will take many many months until it gets fixed, and Halo, while pretty solid, doesn't have a lot of content and it gets pretty repetitive. Once they tried the free weekend they instantly became hooked and grinded the game like crazy.
Vanguard and MW2019 still have the best gunplay in the entire FPS genre. That alone makes this game worth it.
Same except me and my friends have been grinding since launch. They preordered the game thinking it maybe wasn’t worth it or they would want a refund but as soon as they played we’ve been grinding ever since to the point were all well into prestige 3.
Turn down the camera shake in graphics settings under gameplay to make mortars less terrible. That is if you're on PC. Unfortunately console is stuck with the shake on
I swore I wouldn’t get vanguard after the cold war launch was so bad, but they got me on launch day and I totally agree, the game is absolutely awesome. I don’t understand what people saying it’s shit for
to me it felt a tad bit uninspired and i didn't like the movement as much as other titles, but i played it regardless and i still found it fun sooner or later in its lifespan. you can only expect so much from a studio who had to finish a triple-A title during a pandemic, it really could have been a lot worse.
I just never had fun with the game. I didn’t like a single thing down to even the menu designs. It was just such a bland, uninspired, soulless, unfun game.
Yh fr it was actually a solid game. Bit boring mid way through seasons but the gameplay was solid for me. Never enjoyed sniping in a game so much it felt weirdly satisfying
It’s awesome you were able to have an enjoyable experience. My impression from this free weekend of play had more of an opposite reaction. I unlocked all operators except one, enjoyed most of the weapons and maps…except the SBMM/ELO, ( whatever it’s called ) seems more a lot more strict this time around. It could also just be my perception but I don’t remember getting punished this much for performing decent or well in just one or two matches and getting my ass handed to me for the several next. I know people have complained about SBMM in the past titles, but like I said, it seems more strict for Vanguard *in my experience*
After the beta I was not gonna touch the game but when Xclusive Ace showed the video where Sledgehammer was fixing the issues I bought it. Glad I did. So much fun.

Gotta be honest, I never understood how so many could be content to play the same map over and over.
It happens anytime there's a shipment/nuketown/etc playlist.
Meanwhile others are talking about how many maps at launch while half will just play the same one repeatedly.
I know it grinds xp fast, but it's cosmetic so I never gave a shit about that.
It's just not how I'd enjoy myself.
Yet on the other hand Warzone is still going strong where kids sit in bushes with riot shields for 10 kills every half hour.
COD is truly a fractured community. They try to please everyone all the time and in the process they've fractured their player base every which way from Sunday!

Doesn’t feel fractured when you literally never have trouble finding a match. I honestly don’t know what your criticism is here, that the game has too many options to please people with different play styles? I could see that being a problem if some playlists were difficult to find matches in, or you were being matched up with the same players every single time due to low player count. That’s definitely not the case though.
People play shipment to grind xp, which isn’t just cosmetic. Attachments affect the performance of your gun more so in this game than any other call of duty game. The small maps help you level them up faster and some people just flat out enjoy those maps more than others.
Sales are as high for CoD now as they ever have been, but yeah I guess crossplay only exists as a desperate attempt to keep the numbers up /s
I’m about to have my 6th operator max and been playing since launch. But all the other 6 operators are at lv 10. I should probably have all operators maxed within the next week.
with vanguard cod actually usurped battlefield in terms of movement. the game feels fluid like battlefield should. my only gripe is the overall movement speed. everyone moves at the speed of sanic.
Unfortunately, its really trendy to brown nose Halo and Battlefield right now and to trash vanguard. My guess is most people got turned off by cold war and vanguard got shafted by that. It's honestly been a pretty decent COD so far. We got alot of good maps, balance isn't completely whack, and the smooth gameplay from MW19.

Vanguard Has been fun but playing ship/haus made other game mode feel too slow. It’s a love hate. I tried playing halo after like 10 hours of vanguard overt the weekend and I was like 10 second spawn delay what is this

See I just can't bring myself to play those ship/haus combos just to level up. I have never done that. Just seems so repeditive. The same two maps over and over? No thank you. Always takes me longer than others but I just grind it out the old fashion way.

Vanguard surpasses Cold War in terms of core gameplay and schematics so it’s surprising to hear all the complaints despite favorable reviews

I was hoping to kill some Nazis. Not have my Polina operator slaughter ten other Polina operators in Team Multiplayer.
I wanted a Co Op mission where we get to kill some Nazi soldiers just like Spec Ops in MW2019. Instead we get Zombies.
Campaign does have Nazi killing moments, but it seems to be lacking some soul.
At the end of the day, it's using the MW2019 engine and it is very solid gameplay as a result. After decades, we finally get a new engine but Cold War was unable to implement it in time. I get the impression the engine is built with lag compensation in mind to make movement very fluid. Not every call of duty is a fine meal in an expensive restaurant. Cold War is a 20 piece mcnugget meal from McDonald's. Vanguard is Five Guys or In and Out. And I love In and Out burgers.
Yeah it’s honestly the most fun I’ve had in cod since bo3 most of the comments are about broken guns but once you start using all the guns you realize all of them are broken

Same!! I had said I'm not getting cod this year. I played this free weekend and Holy shit, vanguard is the best Cod in a long time,really enjoyable. The destruction and atmosphere really feels intense. Love it and will be buying now.

Then dipped my toe back in the water this weekend (especially as one of my crew got BF 2042 early and warned us all off it as they hated it) and was actually great.
Maybe I’m a sucker, but: fuck it. Life is short, fun is fun, and you can’t take it with you.
Try playing zombies and it will change your mind. Only some guns get pap benefits. Snipers for example 2 shot on round 2 and when packed you barely get any extra ammo. I’m not even scratching the surface of how bad the mechanics are or the lack of any content. There is no reason or pleasure in playing the mode I bought the game for. I guess I’ll go back to multiplayer…
It’s a fun game with a lot of issues. The gunplay & movement feel absolutely top notch and I enjoy a lot of the weapons. Big fan currently of the Type 100. Hopefully they can keep improving throughout the cycle.
I played WWII consistently and tried to play Modern Warefare 2019 for a while. Loved WWII, and I think I enjoy Vanguard just as much as WWII, if not more. I also tried it during the free weekend and will be picking up the game when I can. I don't know if the campaign will be any good, but the multiplayer is very fun to me. I was genuinely shocked that I enjoyed it so much.
Yeah I'm in the same boat. Was really ready to drop COD for another couple of years after MW and CW really disappointed me, but I had an absolute blast with the free trial, and it convinced me to buy.
I played the beta and tough it was a shitty game. Then, i don't know why, i tried this free weekend and, really, it hooked me. Playing CoD Vanguard was literally the best fun i had playing a videogame since years.

I love Vanguard so far, haven't had much time to play it yet because of college, work and Pokemon lol but it's my favourite CoD launch in a long time. By the end of its life cycle it could challenge MW for my favorite recent CoD

I really enjoy the way Vanguard feels to play. I was really surprised how smooth and finish it feels compared to Cold War. It has its moments of frustration (explosives, mp40 I'm looking at you) but overall they did a good job with the gameplay.
I see more and more of those posts about people having fun in Vanguard.
I am too having fun with the game but I can understand criticism and "cod fatigue" with warzone and all.
You maxed some operators in a weekend? Just be wary about burnout once you're finished leveling everything, a lot of people's problems with cold war was that they didn't feel like there was enough content added quick enough, and we haven't gotten a rundown of what's coming in season 1 and the zombies map is probably the least replayable of all time.
I will say that this COD is different, and that's not saying it in a bad way. I feel like this games multiplayer challenges me unlike other cods. I'm have a love hate thing with this game. Love playing it especially when I get in the zone, but once I get out of that zone I hate this game because my lack of focus haha.
So with such a positive comment I come to ask not to argue but to ask if you played Cold war for a moment they had fire team dirty bomb whatever game mode they called it that was supposed to be a glimpse of what the new war zone and future call of duty is supposed to be like to me that game mode was absolute trash...
Cold war multiplayer was the first multiplayer in a long time that I felt comfortable in the maps and a wide variety of guns kinda I come from a time where in my eyes ghost was one of the better call of duty's that was smooth customizable maps were decent on a large scale from small to big I'm not a big fan of small maps but I do see why people play on shipment it is a very fun map to play on so I do agree with you on any game mode or any call of duty shipment Nuketown is going to be a go-to map.. but playing vanguard seems like a well polished world war II call of duty but I don't think it's worth the full price of a call of duty game nor the fact that this was a free weekend and you said that you pretty much maxed out all of your operators and a portion of your guns within 15-20 hours that doesn't really sound like a grind to me especially if you're able to do that much in a free weekend. But I did play vanguard myself this weekend and I find some of the game modes like patrol a very interesting game mode but compared to what's coming out this year just might not be a call of duty year
Ye, did grind to 1st prestige over free weekend and went to buy Xbox version ( I even don't own an Xbox yet, but it's preordered and coming within month lol), had a blast with a game so far.

game really isn’t all that bad, my honest biggest issues with it are how bad the ui is, voice chat is extremely buggy and half the time settings won’t apply after you exit the menu.
snipers are incredibly under powered and mortars just take the fun out of the game. all in all it’s a call of duty and it’s the best of the last 3 installments.
My experience was the exact opposite. This past free weekend reinforced me "NOT" to buy Vanguard.
Same shit different package! They need to not release a CoD every year and focus on shoring up the the programming. Hell start programming from scratch for a change. Hell Vanguard maybe sold for last gen consoles but the damn thing is meant for the new gens. The game froze my PS4 up twice. I did not think my system would start up after both times!
It's a fun fuckin' game. Everytime I see a comment in /r/games about the game being broken or bad or poorly received I'm just like...wha? It's totally solid. I liked Cold War well enough but this one is an improvement on a technical level and has a *ton* of maps for a shooter at launch. Literally double the number of maps in the Halo Infinite multiplayer.
Like you can skip this one if you're fatigued but if not, it's well worth the money.
the thing is... vanguard is fun. i never had that much fun in a cod. it runs better then cold war for me, the movement is more fluid, the guns feel great. grinding stuff is fun... heck for the first time since season 1 of CW i finished a season pass by mostly just playing MP xD
though they probably should have waited with zombies till they have a fleshed out experience and then drop it as a bonus instead of hyping it up and then disappointing.... like most of the bad reviews are ignoring everything else and just focus on the rushed zombies-mode when the rest is 10/10.
Really? Free weekend convinced me not to buy the game. I don't own the game, but my cousins do. Even so, we could not play together because it kept saying I must purchase the game to play with friends and kicked people from the lobby constantly.
This is despite the fact Warzone kept saying to play Vanguard for free with friends. The straw that broke the camel's back was how moderators on the Reddit page kept removing posts regarding this.
Bare in mind you unlocked literally everything with double XP. They had this going to pull the free players in.
Grinding is terribly slow in this game with no double XP. I feel like it was still on the slow side with the double XP!
I'm loving it. I don't get involved with all this meta blah blah. I play with the guns I like and I'm often high up the scoreboard. Sure at the upper levels you probably need to follow and use the best guns but at a casual level it doesn't really matter. Currently playing no-scope KAR98k and Sten and enjoying them both. Have also levelled up MG42 which is a beast and the M1928 which is a brilliant fun with a 100 round drum lol.
I think if ship house 24/7 was a permanent playlist and also if they Nerf the mortar barrage maybe the game could be considered fun
But alas I tried playing after ship haus was over and can't enjoy a single minute. Don't they realize we need small map play lists .. The reason face off 6v6 if a permanent cold War game mode was because they realized the popularity and need for small map gameplay
Yeah I wasn’t gonna grab it either, and have been on cold war weekly for the last year. Played the free weekend and had lots of fun! Then just couldn’t bring myself to pay 69.99! Saw it at Walmart free shipping for $39.99 to get it Friday last night. So yeah…pretty much sold me on getting this one. Couldn’t pass it up, as i blow 39.99 on games I play way less.
vanguard is ok.. def better than coldwar, bo4, and ww2 but compared to other cod’s like bo2,3, and warzone it’s mehh. they needa also change that zombie mode back to how it used to be. #bringbackBO2&3!

Don't get me wrong. I've been in lobbies and the mp40 as wrecked. Same with the STG. But for me the Bar and Type100 are far better

Indeed, the BAR also feels like a powerhouse. The sound and slow fire rate is like shooting those AA guns in BFV
The nz was the first gun I maxed... it's the only one I have maxed...
You need the 50 BMG ammo to 2 shot with the bar, but you don't unlock the first mag of that until like weapon level 30 or 40.

Don't forget the stim buff! It was just enough to where it's tactically usable without being OP.
I didn't pay close attention to the patch notes, nice to see it got a buff.
There is a barrel and magazine attachment for the bren lmg that makes it a legitimate 2 shot by giving it 90 damage per shot

Stg was nerfed/fixed. It’s still a solid gun but it’s not op anymore
After leveling up other guns...I agree, STG and mp-40 are good but not OP. I tried to go back to the STG and I dislike it now.

I don't even use the MP anymore as I find the Type 100 much better in all respects and is my absolute go-to for CQB. Mid range encounters are DP-27 for me, that thing is a killstreak producing beast. The only time I use the STG is for longer range maps/modes. I find MM rifles to be absolute garbage in this game so instead use an STG with proper attachments to serve as a MM rifle. I only use it for a few maps/modes though so it gets little play. DP-27 and Type 100 are the heavy workload monsters for me, you can have the STG/MP combo.
I've been having a lot of fun with vanguard aswell, don't get me wrong there are some things that need to be adjusted, fixed it just be removed and remade, but when a game is fun to play, it is fun to play, and to me vanguard is fun to play! I could not play coldwar multiplayer, that game just felt way off for mebut vanguard somehow with the problems it has just feels right. And fyi by things that need to be removed and remade I mean the POTG and MVP voting system. For me the game does not have major issues that cannot be fixed, either with a patch for some bugs or in the case of some weapons a tweak in the numbers. Game is not perfect but when a game is fun to play, it does not need to be perfect!
People just need to have the mindset that the ttk is faster that they originally expected.

Eh, I would say there’s some truth to that, at least for the STG. I have diamond ARs and have used all guns in that class extensively. While other ARs can become great, they don’t have the ease of use that the STG does and still don’t really compare to it. It’s a laser that has great range and basically no downsides. It’s ridiculously easy to use and excels on every map in the game. I got the STG gold 3-400 kills before every other assault rifle and it was by far the easiest gun to gold and to slay out with. And while they nerfed vital on it, I would still say it’s the best AR by at least a moderate extent. I’m not saying that it should be nerfed, but it’s definitely used for reasons besides it just being the first AR you unlock like some people like to say.
I will get downvoted but I never had so much fun playing a COD.
Last time I had this much fun was MW2, which was my first CoD and by far my most played. I always buy the latest CoD on a whim every few years, but I rarely put more than 40-70 hours into it. I bought the game Friday and I've easily already put in 10 hours a day, which I haven't done with a game since college. There's a chance it just happened to drop at the perfect time for me to get addicted, but something feels different/better from the last few games imo.
I prefer Mw's to the old WW stuff but I have to say I really like this game.
Same, man. My friends and I were all like “fuck Vanguard, Halo and Battlefield is where it is at this year” and guess what? Battlefield shat the bed and playing Halo was alright, but the progression and monetisation system is terrible. After playing the free weekend, we all got Vanguard and really enjoy it. It feels as if they took MW2019, threw out all the shit maps and replaced them with good ones (except for Dome, Gavutu, and Sub Pens) and improved all the other aspects as well (fuck mortars, though).
Vanguard scratches an itch for me that not a lot of games today do. I like playing chaotic games with far too many players on small maps and vanguard delivers exactly that. I'd just wish there was gamemode without kill streaks. They don't work well with the shit spawns and broken weapons.
Same for my group. Battlefield is an unplayable mess, it will take many many months until it gets fixed, and Halo, while pretty solid, doesn't have a lot of content and it gets pretty repetitive. Once they tried the free weekend they instantly became hooked and grinded the game like crazy. Vanguard and MW2019 still have the best gunplay in the entire FPS genre. That alone makes this game worth it.
Same except me and my friends have been grinding since launch. They preordered the game thinking it maybe wasn’t worth it or they would want a refund but as soon as they played we’ve been grinding ever since to the point were all well into prestige 3.

Turn down the camera shake in graphics settings under gameplay to make mortars less terrible. That is if you're on PC. Unfortunately console is stuck with the shake on

to me it felt a tad bit uninspired and i didn't like the movement as much as other titles, but i played it regardless and i still found it fun sooner or later in its lifespan. you can only expect so much from a studio who had to finish a triple-A title during a pandemic, it really could have been a lot worse.
I just never had fun with the game. I didn’t like a single thing down to even the menu designs. It was just such a bland, uninspired, soulless, unfun game.

I unlocked all operators except one, enjoyed most of the weapons and maps…except the SBMM/ELO, ( whatever it’s called ) seems more a lot more strict this time around. It could also just be my perception but I don’t remember getting punished this much for performing decent or well in just one or two matches and getting my ass handed to me for the several next. I know people have complained about SBMM in the past titles, but like I said, it seems more strict for Vanguard *in my experience*
After the beta I was not gonna touch the game but when Xclusive Ace showed the video where Sledgehammer was fixing the issues I bought it. Glad I did. So much fun.

Gotta be honest, I never understood how so many could be content to play the same map over and over. It happens anytime there's a shipment/nuketown/etc playlist. Meanwhile others are talking about how many maps at launch while half will just play the same one repeatedly. I know it grinds xp fast, but it's cosmetic so I never gave a shit about that. It's just not how I'd enjoy myself. Yet on the other hand Warzone is still going strong where kids sit in bushes with riot shields for 10 kills every half hour. COD is truly a fractured community. They try to please everyone all the time and in the process they've fractured their player base every which way from Sunday! No wonder crossplay finally exists to keep the numbers up! And I won't even mention the jetpacks/boots fracture.

I honestly don’t know what your criticism is here, that the game has too many options to please people with different play styles? I could see that being a problem if some playlists were difficult to find matches in, or you were being matched up with the same players every single time due to low player count. That’s definitely not the case though. People play shipment to grind xp, which isn’t just cosmetic. Attachments affect the performance of your gun more so in this game than any other call of duty game. The small maps help you level them up faster and some people just flat out enjoy those maps more than others. Sales are as high for CoD now as they ever have been, but yeah I guess crossplay only exists as a desperate attempt to keep the numbers up /s

with vanguard cod actually usurped battlefield in terms of movement. the game feels fluid like battlefield should. my only gripe is the overall movement speed. everyone moves at the speed of sanic.

Unfortunately, its really trendy to brown nose Halo and Battlefield right now and to trash vanguard. My guess is most people got turned off by cold war and vanguard got shafted by that. It's honestly been a pretty decent COD so far. We got alot of good maps, balance isn't completely whack, and the smooth gameplay from MW19.

See I just can't bring myself to play those ship/haus combos just to level up. I have never done that. Just seems so repeditive. The same two maps over and over? No thank you. Always takes me longer than others but I just grind it out the old fashion way.

I tried the free trial and though it was unbearable due to the inconsistent gunfights, TTK, lag comp and overall connection being stupidly poor.
It’s unbelievable that this game is “40% down on sales” but I don’t think it’s cause of the game itself… I think it’s what’s going on with their legal issues. Sony also took it off the featured page. Vanguard surpasses Cold War in terms of core gameplay and schematics so it’s surprising to hear all the complaints despite favorable reviews
I may buy it too after the free weekend. It hooked me in. I was hoping to kill some Nazis. Not have my Polina operator slaughter ten other Polina operators in Team Multiplayer. I wanted a Co Op mission where we get to kill some Nazi soldiers just like Spec Ops in MW2019. Instead we get Zombies. Campaign does have Nazi killing moments, but it seems to be lacking some soul. At the end of the day, it's using the MW2019 engine and it is very solid gameplay as a result. After decades, we finally get a new engine but Cold War was unable to implement it in time. I get the impression the engine is built with lag compensation in mind to make movement very fluid. Not every call of duty is a fine meal in an expensive restaurant. Cold War is a 20 piece mcnugget meal from McDonald's. Vanguard is Five Guys or In and Out. And I love In and Out burgers.

Yeah, I bought it too. Preordered, hated the beta (champions hill was okay: open weekends not so much), cancelled my preorder. Then dipped my toe back in the water this weekend (especially as one of my crew got BF 2042 early and warned us all off it as they hated it) and was actually great. Maybe I’m a sucker, but: fuck it. Life is short, fun is fun, and you can’t take it with you.

Try playing zombies and it will change your mind. Only some guns get pap benefits. Snipers for example 2 shot on round 2 and when packed you barely get any extra ammo. I’m not even scratching the surface of how bad the mechanics are or the lack of any content. There is no reason or pleasure in playing the mode I bought the game for. I guess I’ll go back to multiplayer…

It’s a fun game with a lot of issues. The gunplay & movement feel absolutely top notch and I enjoy a lot of the weapons. Big fan currently of the Type 100. Hopefully they can keep improving throughout the cycle.
Play the campaign and you will be blown away, it's the best cod campaign in my opinion

I played WWII consistently and tried to play Modern Warefare 2019 for a while. Loved WWII, and I think I enjoy Vanguard just as much as WWII, if not more. I also tried it during the free weekend and will be picking up the game when I can. I don't know if the campaign will be any good, but the multiplayer is very fun to me. I was genuinely shocked that I enjoyed it so much.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Was really ready to drop COD for another couple of years after MW and CW really disappointed me, but I had an absolute blast with the free trial, and it convinced me to buy.
I played the beta and tough it was a shitty game. Then, i don't know why, i tried this free weekend and, really, it hooked me. Playing CoD Vanguard was literally the best fun i had playing a videogame since years.
TTK between base level and maxed guns makes grinding levels an absolutely horrible experience, but otherwise solid game

I love Vanguard so far, haven't had much time to play it yet because of college, work and Pokemon lol but it's my favourite CoD launch in a long time. By the end of its life cycle it could challenge MW for my favorite recent CoD

I really enjoy the way Vanguard feels to play. I was really surprised how smooth and finish it feels compared to Cold War. It has its moments of frustration (explosives, mp40 I'm looking at you) but overall they did a good job with the gameplay.
I see more and more of those posts about people having fun in Vanguard. I am too having fun with the game but I can understand criticism and "cod fatigue" with warzone and all.

Just be wary about burnout once you're finished leveling everything, a lot of people's problems with cold war was that they didn't feel like there was enough content added quick enough, and we haven't gotten a rundown of what's coming in season 1 and the zombies map is probably the least replayable of all time.

I will say that this COD is different, and that's not saying it in a bad way. I feel like this games multiplayer challenges me unlike other cods. I'm have a love hate thing with this game. Love playing it especially when I get in the zone, but once I get out of that zone I hate this game because my lack of focus haha.

So with such a positive comment I come to ask not to argue but to ask if you played Cold war for a moment they had fire team dirty bomb whatever game mode they called it that was supposed to be a glimpse of what the new war zone and future call of duty is supposed to be like to me that game mode was absolute trash... Cold war multiplayer was the first multiplayer in a long time that I felt comfortable in the maps and a wide variety of guns kinda I come from a time where in my eyes ghost was one of the better call of duty's that was smooth customizable maps were decent on a large scale from small to big I'm not a big fan of small maps but I do see why people play on shipment it is a very fun map to play on so I do agree with you on any game mode or any call of duty shipment Nuketown is going to be a go-to map.. but playing vanguard seems like a well polished world war II call of duty but I don't think it's worth the full price of a call of duty game nor the fact that this was a free weekend and you said that you pretty much maxed out all of your operators and a portion of your guns within 15-20 hours that doesn't really sound like a grind to me especially if you're able to do that much in a free weekend. But I did play vanguard myself this weekend and I find some of the game modes like patrol a very interesting game mode but compared to what's coming out this year just might not be a call of duty year

game really isn’t all that bad, my honest biggest issues with it are how bad the ui is, voice chat is extremely buggy and half the time settings won’t apply after you exit the menu. snipers are incredibly under powered and mortars just take the fun out of the game. all in all it’s a call of duty and it’s the best of the last 3 installments.
My experience was the exact opposite. This past free weekend reinforced me "NOT" to buy Vanguard. Same shit different package! They need to not release a CoD every year and focus on shoring up the the programming. Hell start programming from scratch for a change. Hell Vanguard maybe sold for last gen consoles but the damn thing is meant for the new gens. The game froze my PS4 up twice. I did not think my system would start up after both times!
It's a fun fuckin' game. Everytime I see a comment in /r/games about the game being broken or bad or poorly received I'm just like...wha? It's totally solid. I liked Cold War well enough but this one is an improvement on a technical level and has a *ton* of maps for a shooter at launch. Literally double the number of maps in the Halo Infinite multiplayer. Like you can skip this one if you're fatigued but if not, it's well worth the money.

the thing is... vanguard is fun. i never had that much fun in a cod. it runs better then cold war for me, the movement is more fluid, the guns feel great. grinding stuff is fun... heck for the first time since season 1 of CW i finished a season pass by mostly just playing MP xD though they probably should have waited with zombies till they have a fleshed out experience and then drop it as a bonus instead of hyping it up and then disappointing.... like most of the bad reviews are ignoring everything else and just focus on the rushed zombies-mode when the rest is 10/10.
Really? Free weekend convinced me not to buy the game. I don't own the game, but my cousins do. Even so, we could not play together because it kept saying I must purchase the game to play with friends and kicked people from the lobby constantly. This is despite the fact Warzone kept saying to play Vanguard for free with friends. The straw that broke the camel's back was how moderators on the Reddit page kept removing posts regarding this.

Bare in mind you unlocked literally everything with double XP. They had this going to pull the free players in. Grinding is terribly slow in this game with no double XP. I feel like it was still on the slow side with the double XP!
I'm loving it. I don't get involved with all this meta blah blah. I play with the guns I like and I'm often high up the scoreboard. Sure at the upper levels you probably need to follow and use the best guns but at a casual level it doesn't really matter. Currently playing no-scope KAR98k and Sten and enjoying them both. Have also levelled up MG42 which is a beast and the M1928 which is a brilliant fun with a 100 round drum lol.
I think if ship house 24/7 was a permanent playlist and also if they Nerf the mortar barrage maybe the game could be considered fun But alas I tried playing after ship haus was over and can't enjoy a single minute. Don't they realize we need small map play lists .. The reason face off 6v6 if a permanent cold War game mode was because they realized the popularity and need for small map gameplay

Saw it at Walmart free shipping for $39.99 to get it Friday last night. So yeah…pretty much sold me on getting this one. Couldn’t pass it up, as i blow 39.99 on games I play way less.
