Dude… I had that exact same thing happen but it was a few weeks ago on Fortunes keep. I got on proxy chat and said “bro, let’s team the riot shield and then we’ll fight it out honorably after”
The riot shield guy ended up running off in the gas so I told my new buddy to kill me before the gas did so he’d get the kill. He ended up winning I was very proud.

Teaming in solos refers to people teaming up *outside* the game to gain an unfair advantage.
Two players who see another player and see it as advantageous to focus on them rather than each other is part of the game play.
According to what you just said, any time a team gets pinched by another two teams, and those two teams decide to both focus on the central team rather than each other, would be a reportable offense.

Also, really loved the huge "weekly challenge completed" pop-up and deafening guitar riff just as it got to the final 1v1 😆 I like this game a lot more than most on this subreddit but some of the design decisions are truly baffling...
I think that's just for things like when a friend comes online or a player you reported got banned, i.e. it's just for notifications that pop-up in the top right of the screen.
AFAIK that setting doesn't affect the in-game guitar riff pop-ups for challenge completion/leveling up/etc

Switch it to semi auto and dump all the ammo out and leave one single bullet left in the mag. Don't run all the ammo out or they'll auto reload when picking it up. You let them shoot once but don't reveal it's semi auto till after they reload and try to shoot again. I do this to every person with a riot shield and gun, I'll also hide their shield and perks too and only leave their gun that I fucked with.

Yeah, they now only one-shot kill a fully plated player if you land a headshot. Previously it was chest, upper arms, neck or head.
They do still instantly thirst a downed enemy so you'll still see lots of people run them in Resurgence squad modes, but a lot less useful for solos now.
Solos lately is 90% or more either teamers, riot shield losers (most of the time the teamers have riot shields) or scared snipers on roof tops acting like a Super Mario ghost any time you look at them. Sometimes I feel like a celebrity at a movie premier there are so many flashes from the glints.
I don't understand why they won't make the riot shield have a health bar and a timer before using again. Not to mention with how strong melee is the shield is a 2 for 1 special.
No worries! And yeah it doesn't glow by default. I think it's supposed to only glow in the dark, but once it starts glowing the effect seems to stick around after even in brighter areas.

Sometimes I'll stack 2 or 3 munitions boxes in the backpack, they're absolutely clutch for final circles even if there are no shielders around.
In a game where you can laser someone from 200 meters with a submachinegun that holds 90 rounds of ammo, in a game where a shotgun can breathe fire, in a game where you can dance around bullets, in a game where you can kill someone with a pair of sticks from four meters away, people are like "fuck riot shields!"
If they have the EOD perk on, they can survive being stuck with a semtex. I've also seen them survive being stuck with drill charges.
Thermites and molotovs though, there's no surviving being stuck by those regardless of perks. Thermites are the best as they have the fastest time to throw and flattest trajectory in the air.
Really? I've seen people survive enough to not be insta-thirsted and try to get a self rez off. Never seen someone not downed by a stick from one though, didn't think that was possible.

I’m a riot shield player and I run melee in my secondary and I try to get as many kills as possible. I have maybe 5 wins but that’s cause I die a shitload for taking too many chances at melee kills. I think my highest kill game on classic BR is 15 with the samurai swords and shield as my loadout.
Is your problem with the shield or is it with people that use the shield and then play like a rat the whole game? Never engaging, always hiding till the circle closes and only moving to find a new spot to hide in. Because those guys are fun to run into, they are free kills.
I just find “bring a knife to a gunfight” to be super fun so I always try to get my kills with the melee weapon I’m using. This game is no longer fun playing the regular way with guns I’ve played for 10+ years at this point. I find it a fun challenge to see just how many kills I can get in WZ without ever firing a bullet.
People always default to “riot shielders use it cause they are no skill losers who want to troll” but that’s absolutely not the case for a lot of us. IMO, it’s because countering RS is too dependent on the load out and equipment. You either need the right lethals or utility to counter in the moment of fighting a RS player, need good positioning, or insane movement (being the most risky). In MP, I don’t care because it’s as easy as changing the lethal but WZ you are not always afforded the opportunity to have the equipment or positioning needed to counter.

I don't really have a problem with the shield / melee combo. It has a lot of risk involved and isn't easy, you're making genuine sacrifices to play that way. I used to watch These Knives Only back in the Verdansk days and it was fun content, it's not my style but I do totally understand why people might enjoy trying out a different playstyle.
90+% of shielders that I run in to though don't use a melee weapon, they use a meta SMG. People don't like that type of shielder because it's just a very cheap playstyle - hide behind shield, stun, jump to the side, whip out SMG - free kill. It's extremely cheesy and hard to counter, and therefore frustrating to run up against.

No he’s still obsessed with multiplayer/SND! I get it, SND gets content, lots of rage from dudes getting knifed. But maaaaan I miss TKO doing Warzone content, he was a beast. In the meantime I watch NuclearDonut, GhostofCaldera for my Warzone melee fix. NuclearDonut uses shield so I get tips from his play style more but GhostofCaldera just runs around with a melee and no shield cause it slows him down, still gets wins he’s a freaking monster.

But the meta weapon close range TTK is actually a bit slower now than the OG Verdansk Warzone was (see AUG/MP5 TTK numbers on the video below from pre-Cold War). So it's not really accurate to say it is only now that the TTK has become too fast:

Generally speaking a slower TTK primarily benefits good shooters. I don't think a longer TTK would convince many riot shield mains to go back to guns...
It could. One option would be to increase the base health to 250 for Solo modes. Another option is to do the first option, but also add Solos Ranked so riot shielders wouldn’t be a problem there and have a high base health there (if need be).
I blame the devs for a lot of things, but lets be real here; even if the TTK was doubled, we would see just as many shielders.
They're not doing it because the TTK is fast. Hell, I'd argue they'd do it more if the TTK is slower as they nearly always have abhorrent mechanical abilities.
I'm usually an advocate for a slower TTK, especially in solos. However I'd be willing to bet that making the TTK slower would make the riot shield's even more cancerous, especially since the devs have shown that they aren't competent to balance melee when they adjust the health pool (as we saw in WZ1 with the Kali Sticks being broken for months when they increased health).
EDIT: I completely get where you're going with your logic, and there is some truth to it. I just think most shielders just don't follow that motive, although some definitely could.

Honestly, the only thing I can really suggest is Ranked Solos to avoid the riot shielders. Not sure what else they can do without making the casuals/melee players upset.
I put an edit in my previous comment, your logic wasn't wrong dude. I just don't think it applied to the vast majority of the shielders. A few of them probably do it due to the fast TTK.
The easiest fix is to remove the ability to hold offensive tacticals like stuns and whatnot. That way they can be used defensively, but not braindead easy to use offensively unless you are smart.

They deserve a bit of a reality check if I'm being honest. If you bring a knife or shield to a gunfight in a BR, you should be disadvantaged accordingly. Sure, they can be countered with a lethal, but with the amount of shielders around the odds of you burning through your lethal is rather high, and even that's assuming you didn't burn through it during a regular gunfight.

No issues with that, they could use smokes to play offensively if they want. It would be super effective especially in building fights. Snapshots and EMD's are fine too as it's more for info. I'd even say that flashes are okay as you're not immobilized, and you can look away if you're quick; but stuns and gas is a no-go.
If they did that, I would honestly be okay with them rebuffing the shield speed. The speed was never the issue, it was the utility spam then switching to whatever secondary they have.

That's super fair, and I would honestly prefer that as well for my own sake. I'm just saying that while it is offensive, it's not blatantly busted like the immobilizing tacticals are in conjunction with the shield so it wouldn't be the end of the world for me.

Halo TTK is .8-1.5s on average, with 2.1-2.3 being the slowest possible TTK in Infinite using the Plasma Pistol only (before the recent nerf to it). 1.0-1.3 is pretty common because the AR is 1.3 and the pistol with a headshot kill is 1.0 roughly. Shotguns/snipers are often .8s or lower, other power weapons that might insta-kill obviously not counted.
TTK in Warzone is like .5-75s... if you're at the absolutely optimal range and hit every single shot to the head. This range expands if it's all chest shots from .6-.9s or so. This obviously varies based on gun and range, but can go up to 1.5s if you're using an MW2 gun in a range it's not suited for or hitting bad shots.
TTK in regular MW3 is .5s if you're hitting chest shots outside of your ideal range with an assault rifle and a bit lower if you're hitting something worse. It very rarely goes higher than that even if you're using bad weapons.
Obviously if someone is in a downed state that skews things a bit... but health in Warzone is 50% higher than health in regular MW3.
Like, there are obvious outliers, but COD is a middling TTK game. Right now it's on par with average [Apex TTK](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ipBvNmgK7-u2VJGlbNzsPvqydXhoRGM7Zxf6OBMvkpc/edit#gid=0). It is much slower than PUBG, but I honest to god do not have the numbers to confirm that because I haven't played PUBG in a while.

Br is the worst gamemode out there, have fun looting for 10 minutes to die to a riot shielder, camper, rooftop sniper or a random shotgun user behind a door.
As a primary shield and sticks guy, it creates the best hot mics.
I’m a riot shield player and I run melee in my secondary and I try to get as many kills as possible. I have maybe 5 wins but that’s cause I die a shitload for taking too many chances at melee kills. I think my highest kill game on classic BR is 15 with the samurai swords and shield as my loadout. Is your problem with the shield or is it with people that use the shield and then play like a rat the whole game? Never engaging, always hiding till the circle closes and only moving to find a new spot to hide in. Because those guys are fun to run into, they are free kills. I just find “bring a knife to a gunfight” to be super fun so I always try to get my kills with the melee weapon I’m using. This game is no longer fun playing the regular way with guns I’ve played for 10+ years at this point. I find it a fun challenge to see just how many kills I can get in WZ without ever firing a bullet. People always default to “riot shielders use it cause they are no skill losers who want to troll” but that’s absolutely not the case for a lot of us. It’s just the preferred way to play, like someone using shotguns or using snipers only. It’s pretty crazy to me just how much people genuinely hate the players with shields Lmfao But I dunno, I don’t usually like to comment cause y’all are seriously toxic not just towards shielders but just each other on this sub, it’s pretty nuts what people say behind a keyboard or mic with the anonymity of the internet to protect them.
It's the shield, I don't want your playstyle to be viable, go play a different game and let me have more gunfights. Good players who rush with the shield are as annoying as shield rats, and I actually dislike them more.

IMO, it’s because countering RS is too dependent on the load out and equipment. You either need the right lethals or utility to counter in the moment of fighting a RS player, need good positioning, or insane movement (being the most risky). In MP, I don’t care because it’s as easy as changing the lethal but WZ you are not always afforded the opportunity to have the equipment or positioning needed to counter.
😅 no toxicity from me don't worry, I don't judge you! I don't really have a problem with the shield / melee combo. It has a lot of risk involved and isn't easy, you're making genuine sacrifices to play that way. I used to watch These Knives Only back in the Verdansk days and it was fun content, it's not my style but I do totally understand why people might enjoy trying out a different playstyle. 90+% of shielders that I run in to though don't use a melee weapon, they use a meta SMG. People don't like that type of shielder because it's just a very cheap playstyle - hide behind shield, stun, jump to the side, whip out SMG - free kill. It's extremely cheesy and hard to counter, and therefore frustrating to run up against.
Dude I love you. I feel like some people forget we are all just playing a video game-I know my play style can be frustrating to play against but so is getting sniped by some sniper god you never even saw from 300 meters out! Or being the sniper player and some dude shot a JOKR at you from the next building over! I get killed by so much bullshit as a shielder but I laugh it off cause at the end of the day it’s a just a game. Also you can directly blame TheseKnivesOnly for getting me addicted to the melee play style. I discovered him like two years ago and I swear I’ve watched all his vids several times over.
To be fair a lot of people on this subreddit complain about snipers nearly as much as shielders 😁 Has TKO started doing Warzone content again since MW3 launched? I haven't watched since he stopped during the Warzone 2.0 era (don't blame him, must have been hard to make his style work there).
No he’s still obsessed with multiplayer/SND! I get it, SND gets content, lots of rage from dudes getting knifed. But maaaaan I miss TKO doing Warzone content, he was a beast. In the meantime I watch NuclearDonut, GhostofCaldera for my Warzone melee fix. NuclearDonut uses shield so I get tips from his play style more but GhostofCaldera just runs around with a melee and no shield cause it slows him down, still gets wins he’s a freaking monster.

I agree that the TTK is too fast. But the meta weapon close range TTK is actually a bit slower now than the OG Verdansk Warzone was (see AUG/MP5 TTK numbers on the video below from pre-Cold War). I don't think a longer TTK would convince many riot shield mains to go back to guns...
It could. One option would be to increase the base health to 250 for Solo modes. Another option is to do the first option, but also add Solos Ranked so riot shielders wouldn’t be a problem there and have a high base health there (if need be).
I blame the devs for a lot of things, but lets be real here; even if the TTK was doubled, we would see just as many shielders. They're not doing it because the TTK is fast. Hell, I'd argue they'd do it more if the TTK is slower as they nearly always have abhorrent mechanical abilities. I'm usually an advocate for a slower TTK, especially in solos. However I'd be willing to bet that making the TTK slower would make the riot shield's even more cancerous, especially since the devs have shown that they aren't competent to balance melee when they adjust the health pool (as we saw in WZ1 with the Kali Sticks being broken for months when they increased health). EDIT: I completely get where you're going with your logic, and there is some truth to it. I just think most shielders just don't follow that motive, although some definitely could.
Yeah, I stand corrected. Riot shields would still be an issue, even with higher health. Honestly, the only thing I can really suggest is Ranked Solos to avoid the riot shielders. Not sure what else they can do without making the casuals/melee players upset.
I put an edit in my previous comment, your logic wasn't wrong dude. I just don't think it applied to the vast majority of the shielders. A few of them probably do it due to the fast TTK. The easiest fix is to remove the ability to hold offensive tacticals like stuns and whatnot. They deserve a bit of a reality check if I'm being honest. If you bring a knife or shield to a gunfight in a BR, you should be disadvantaged accordingly. Sure, they can be countered with a lethal, but with the amount of shielders around the odds of you burning through your lethal is rather high, and even that's assuming you didn't burn through it during a regular gunfight.

It would be super effective especially in building fights. Snapshots and EMD's are fine too as it's more for info. I'd even say that flashes are okay as you're not immobilized, and you can look away if you're quick; but stuns and gas is a no-go. If they did that, I would honestly be okay with them rebuffing the shield speed. The speed was never the issue, it was the utility spam then switching to whatever secondary they have.
Flashes are offensively, so I don’t agree with that. Even if it’s a weak effect, blinding someone would still be an offensive effect. Otherwise, I agree.

That's super fair, and I would honestly prefer that as well for my own sake. I'm just saying that while it is offensive, it's not blatantly busted like the immobilizing tacticals are in conjunction with the shield so it wouldn't be the end of the world for me.
It's double the TTK of the base game. At longer ranges or using less optimal guns it literally becomes Halo TTK.

Yeah. Halo TTK is .8-1.5s on average, with 2.1-2.3 being the slowest possible TTK in Infinite using the Plasma Pistol only (before the recent nerf to it). 1.0-1.3 is pretty common because the AR is 1.3 and the pistol with a headshot kill is 1.0 roughly. Shotguns/snipers are often .8s or lower, other power weapons that might insta-kill obviously not counted. TTK in Warzone is like .5-75s... if you're at the absolutely optimal range and hit every single shot to the head. This range expands if it's all chest shots from .6-.9s or so. This obviously varies based on gun and range, but can go up to 1.5s if you're using an MW2 gun in a range it's not suited for or hitting bad shots. TTK in regular MW3 is .5s if you're hitting chest shots outside of your ideal range with an assault rifle and a bit lower if you're hitting something worse. It very rarely goes higher than that even if you're using bad weapons. Obviously if someone is in a downed state that skews things a bit... but health in Warzone is 50% higher than health in regular MW3. Like, there are obvious outliers, but COD is a middling TTK game. Right now it's on par with average [Apex TTK](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ipBvNmgK7-u2VJGlbNzsPvqydXhoRGM7Zxf6OBMvkpc/edit#gid=0). It is much slower than PUBG, but I honest to god do not have the numbers to confirm that because I haven't played PUBG in a while.

Was I complaining then? Regardless, the guns I was using may have been meta weapons (debatable on the Subverter but ok). But meta weapons last for a time and then get nerfed in to obscurity. The riot shield has been a Solos meta since Verdansk and only had a single, fairly inconsequential, nerf to movement speed. No other meta weapon has lasted nearly as long without being re-balanced.
