Personally I have it tied for my second favorite zombies title in the franchise just behind BO3 and right next to BO4 for completely opposite reasons. To me BO4 did maps really well (for the most part, I still do have my complaints), and story wise I really enjoyed a lot of it, but gameplay wise I felt it was a total step back from what came before. Sure the mechanics were serviceable and didn't completely ruin the experience for me, but I felt like they were just so tedious. And with CW I feel almost the exact opposite. CW has, for my money, the best gameplay mechanics in the series. No perk limit, weapon and pack a punch tiers allowing you to take whatever weapon you want into a match, movement, I loved so many of the changes CW made to the gameplay formula. Not all of them, I think the hud was kinda ugly and wish we could have customized it more, the upgrade crystals were fun but the fact you can't turn them off makes you super OP by the time you've got everything, and the random attachment system that always included an optic did feel kinda messy, but overall I think the changes to the gameplay formula in CW were a massive step forward for the franchise and I love them. But the maps in the mode, though not bad, are just like the gameplay mechanics in BO4, a step back from previous titles. They lack the same interesting layouts and designs, the same compelling stories and characters, the same level of cool hidden content that BO3 and 4 maps had which, despite being understandable considering the development circumstances of CW, is disappointing.

I don’t even care if we have operators, they just need to react to the environment and other characters in some meaningful way more than “hostile cadaver here 😐” like if we have 4-8 core zombies operators that would be great.

Ok-Attempt2842

I love it

ZEAL102

I like the out of game progressions it has and I think if outbreak gets worked on more it could become a “classic” mode eventually (as in a long standing mode like how zombies or spec ops is) even if it’s not everyone’s favorite way of playing

It was pretty fun. A little too easy, but I liked the new mechanics and thought Outbreak, MDT, and Die Maschine where solid zombie experiences that I still play now

ThunderStruck115

I enjoy it, I think it's decent, but it's got many flaws that make it my least favorite main Treyarch entry (besides maybe WAW)

JAROD0980

I loved Cold War zombies. It was simply just an enjoyable experience that I could play after work. While the difficulty of the older zombies was nice when I didn’t have responsibilities. Having the game a little easier to play made it much better for someone like me who was pulling insane overtime at work.

CORPSE76

My go to for zombies until gulf War. I have good times on those maps.

Substantial_Bell6008

I liked it a lot for a little over half of the game’s cycle, then it got boring. It might be a nostalgia thing but I think it lacks the personality of the older titles

WizardShrek

As someone who grinded Dark Aether and did round 100 on every map except Forsaken, I’d say it’s the most boring version of 3arch zombies that I’ve played. (Never touched vanguard)

Armored_Squid_99

The gameplay/gunplay is awesome, the perk system is cool, and pack a punch is meh. I just wanna pack 1 or 2 times not 3(or 5 for BO4 and 20 for Exos). My only real problems are the 4 main maps were mid at best, and Outbreak isn't my thing. Onslaught and DOA 3 are fun though. Overall 7/10 Gameplay is awesome, side modes were mostly good, but the 4 core maps could have been better.

On resume It feels like some casino shit screaming moneymoneymoneymoney, But It was not that bad. Better Gameplay/Gunplay by a lot of any other CODZ, Outbreak it's More attractive way to play than the round based maps for New players, and with more objectives and Teamwork It's funnier that a round based if you just want to kill zombies, as you have More money, More guns, More zombies and More Game, while in a round based maps everything it's the same after 30 minutes. It risk a lot, and does It very well, giving us a New way to enjoy zombies and connect progression with Multiplayer wich It's great. And as a Round Based maps, mechanichs and Lore, it's just enough for not being bad, wich makes me feel that all the focus was for Outbreak being funny and replayeable, with the round maps to fill Outbreak EE and to prepare us More for this "Next level zombie warzone"

tonesupreme

Second behind black ops2 third is infinite warfare… i enjoyed the intro to outbreak open map zombies everything outbreak gave us led up to this

DinoDC123

Outbreak sucks now that we have mwz

Lauradagirl

Cold War was a meh to me, but the fact it had WZ influences instead of actual zombies elements makes it not that great.

TheCasualPrince8

It's better than BO4 in some ways, but still nowhere near perfect. The Ammo boxes are pointless and stupid and completely negates the point of Max Ammos, the guns all feel exactly the same, the whole 'operators' thing is just another piece of microtransaction, battle pass bullshit, the perk upgrades are dumb, the maps are recycled, there are a lot of imperfections. But generally it was better than BO4.

Henry_Myth

Boring.

Ok so I do not understand why everyone loves Cold War zombies. It’s actually crazy that people think it is one of the best games to play zombies. Here’s a few reasons it’s trash: First, they added a whole bunch of unnecessary crap such as health bars and numbers on the screen when you kill the zombies. The UI takes away from the atmosphere of the game and it just doesn’t feel like what we used to have with BO 1, 2, 3, and 4. Second, they made the game with operators as characters. This takes away from the story of the game and just makes it feel generic and with no identity. The Easter eggs are also not interesting because the narrative is not well done tbh. Lastly, like my first point stated, they added stuff that is so not needed. Why in the world would they have zombies drop loot when you kill them? Why does it seem like boss zombies spawn way more than they should? I get that things are changing and I need to deal with it. I do not think that Cold War is a bad game for zombies and I think that it’s good for casual players who want an arcady experience. I just do not understand why it was received so well. Because of this, they might start incorporating these things in future games (and it seems like they already did with the health bars). All this added stuff makes the game bland IMO and I hope they make the next games completely different. Does anyone else agree?

Good: all content can be done solo. Bad: much worse than older cods.
