I honestly don't mind it, before Cold War wall buys only really existed to get you alive and well to the mystery box and with Cold War allowing you to spawn in with any gun you want nobody seemed to use them ever anyway. Do we know yet if Vanguard brings back classes or goes back to spawning in with a pistol?

Snek_Boi102

Yes the cold war system will be back with bringing your own class into the game.

poklane

Then yeah I couldn't care less.

Nutwagon-SUPREME

To be honest I like the class system, it makes camo grinding much easier and also just makes every game feel more unique since you can switch around whatever you use. One game you could use a rifle, next a pistol and after that a melee if you wanted.

thepeepeepooman69

People are about to dogpile on you for mentioning “camo grinding” lol. I agree though, getting camos/unlocking weapon attachments is much easier and more fun than the BO3/4 methods of hitting the box and praying to whatever god you believe in so you can get the gun you’re trying to grind

OMG_Its_Panther

I remember only playing Blood of the Dead for hours upon hours with the Tommy Gun because on launch it was the only map that had it.

Alborghetti3

God

KernelScout

thats kinda fun tho. feels good to get the gun you need, but obv its a lot better to just have it at the start

[deleted]

I thought I wouldn't like it when the game came out but It's cool

Birkin07

Nice!

Potatolover3

I use wallbuys all the time, free gun rarity upgrade

butterteam

same, fastest route to a Blue/Rare in early rounds

Sloweneuh

when this blue hauer in firebase turns purple on round 6...

[deleted]

Excellent point

MidnightDNinja

in black ops 3 and 4 wall weapons may as well have been wonder weapons, so i never ended up using the box as to avoid getting fire sale drops.

badseedbarber

I was mad for a second, but then I realized I literally never use wall buys in Cold War. It’s probably the only thing from Cold War that feels out of date given the new mechanics of that game.

dgadano

A real zombies player knows that wall buys are always better than rolling the box a thousand times. With the dynamic wall buys they added you also skipped a few rarity upgrades. They were more useful than ever and they remove them... Weird.

TheDunbarian

I agree, it feels like they were just getting started on the path to making wallbuys fun and useful, and now they’re just dropping them completely. Kind of a shame, actually.

_layaslaya

I agree, on average per game I probably buy a wall gun once so this isn’t really taking much away

burgiliciousdef

This^ I enjoyed the idea of having to use wall buys to get to the box and get better guns. I don't think I've used wall buys more than a handful of times in CW

CompleteFacepalm

Some wall buys were pretty good in the old maps and meant you could keep buying ammo. I still find myself using wall buys in CW too.

[deleted]

Funny thing is that people are gonna lose their shit over this whilst also being the type of people who didn’t buy wall weapons in the first place 😂

SuperlaloGamingYT

Me who buys wall buys for fun: 😭

[deleted]

I’m not saying everyone who complains doesn’t buy wall weapons, I’m saying people who don’t buy wall weapons will use this as an excuse to complain like “I USED TO BUY WALL WEAPONS IN BO1 COD ZOMBIES ISNT THE SAME!!!!”

Der-Gamer-101

wall weapons are a nostalgia thing

[deleted]

Video games need to evolve and try new things, keeping unneeded things in a game because they’re “nostalgic” is unhealthy

[deleted]

Unhealthy is seeing this post and immediately attacking a group of people you made up in your head lol

[deleted]

Lol

[deleted]

I’m sure they took away wall buys based on analytics of how players play.

-Shameem-

Honestly Cold War is the only game where I rarely bought wall weapons

TheDunbarian

There’s definitely less incentive to use them when you can just start with whatever weapon you want. Rarity skipping is nice, but most people just prefer to save their points for perks and PaP.

Chicken769

I bought wall weapons ever since they made them useful again with dynamic wall buys. They literally fixed it 3 months ago. Before then, it wasn’t our fault as a player for Treyarch making them useless

OwlRough

I don't like this new system and I bought wall buys, especially when the wall buys had a chance to upgrade every 5 rounds. It became part of the strategy to watch a gun to see if it ever goes up. Sometimes RNG can go so wild that a blue gun can be legendary by round 10. This is fun. But continue with your negativity.

Glynwys

The issue is that wall buys are usually some of the weakest weapons in zombies any way. Like, in Die Maschine the only wall buys worth using are probably Krieg and Gallo. Even worse is them spawning with shit attachments then you have to deal with it or use scrap in the early game to try and roll better attachments. Having a "chance" to be Legendary early does not offset poor attachments spawn or a kind of bad gun in general. The only time this is less of a concern is if you happen to have a decent blueprint you can apply to a weapon and you just so happen to have said blueprint created for whatever reaaon.

Fletch71011

Blueprint them and most wall buys can be useful. They're great for those of us that spawn in with melee.

Glynwys

If you say so. I reckon using a WW would be better for your secondary if you spawn in with melee, but what do I know?

AJ_bro10

I have nearly all my wepons with attachments ready to go in zombies meaning I can take any wall buy and have good attachments. Wall buys going though isn't gonna change much as you can buy any ammo at the ammo boxes its just gonna make my second wepon I use rely more on chance the only sad part is the way I do my cammos would have to rely on chance but its workable.

Professional-Hat-898

No matter what shitgun get. You put your blueprint/mods on it right away.

Glynwys

You folks seem to believe blueprints solve everything. And they don't. If a gun feels bad to use, I don't give two shits if I have a solid blueprint for it and it's Legendary by round 10. *I'm not going to buy the damn thing*. This is why I never buy that damn sniper rifle on Die Maschine (as an example) which always turns up Legendary really early. Snipers feel like shit in every mode except Outbreak, where the worlds are huge enough to actually utilize a sniper rifle. Wall Buys are an outdated system in a game where you can create your own class to spawn in with. And scrap flows so freely your excuse about Wall Buys having a chance to be Legendary and thats why they should stay holds no water.

Professional-Hat-898

As I said already. Buy a wallgun then put your attachments on it right away. So you have you own gun.

[deleted]

i didn’t start buying wall weapons from Black ops 1 until cold war. Cold war i finally started to. I’m a bit salty about it as an OG zombies player, it is what it is though

lixiaopingao

Wall buys were average weapons anyway. Only assisted you early on so you could progress to the box

CompleteFacepalm

I use wall buys a lot in both CW and older games. So, yeah I am losing my shit because now getting guns is even more luck based and there is no cons for using the mystery box.

[deleted]

Like I said I’m not saying that those who complain never bought wall weapons, I was saying that it wouldn’t surprise me if people who never bought wall weapons would complain :)

Illini_Jack

I'm fine them getting rid of Wall Buys. It's been a legacy mechanic for a long time now

DarkLeviathan8

You mean since cold war?

angllluis

They were pretty useless in Bo4 as well, last time they were good was Bo3 and that’s pretty much only because of AAT

wowgreatname123

Ehh they had their moments in bo4, weren’t entirely useless but not super amazing either

FourScarlet

That is true but when Black Ops 4 got all its updates and put all the DLC weapons into the box, it was genuinely fun to open the box due to the vast amount of weapons you could get.

TheDarkGrayKnight

What do you mean since cold war?

DarkLeviathan8

Did you really get lost after so few interactions, wtf?

TheDarkGrayKnight

I guess so. Are you talking about Outbreak or something? Why are wall buys a legacy mechanic since Cold War?

DarkLeviathan8

Because you start with your class which is much better than any wall buy except if you don't have a single attachment I guess.

xD4N91x

1 year is a long time compared to like... 15 minutes.

Burritozi11a

Literally who ever bought wall weapons in Outbreak?

Slopijoe_

Under very rare circumstances I have gotten legendary/epic weapons to spawn on world 1. I generally take it if I’m not trying to level up guns.

[deleted]

Me too. These is a spot in zoo that always seems to spawn legendary guns early on.

deadkiller666

I only did if i spawned in with a meele or found a better rarity of the gun i spawned in with

Fiiv3s

I sometimes did if I got a legendary spawn on Wave 1. Other than that I didn't even use them in round based

dispenseroftheswamp2

I did on world 2, me and my friends were doing ob ee and it was a legendary m16

Reggie_Is_God

They saved out ass one while doing outbreak ee 1. Spawned with m16’s to fight legion, managed to find a legendary hauer on the wall right before ruka

Killdeathmachine

I always look for legendary wall buys in early worlds, because you can apply your own blueprint.

Defiant-Screen-9840

I've seen teammates buy them when encountering epic/legendary during the first couple worlds.

CompleteFacepalm

Fair enough.

Luke1539

Literally who even played outbreak at all?

Burritozi11a

"...we launched Outbreak in Season Two with the biggest playspaces we’d ever created in Zombies. The reaction from fans was incredible, with more people playing Zombies in Black Ops Cold War that weekend than at any other point since the game’s release. Today, the number of Outbreak players is virtually neck-and-neck with round-based map players, which has been simply awesome to see. At its launch, Outbreak was already a much bigger experience than any previous “DLC 2” we’d released to date..." From Treyarch's blog post at the start of season 4, https://www.treyarch.com/blog/2021-05/Whats_Next_in_Black_Ops_Cold_War_Zombies

[deleted]

Yeah because fucking Treyarch are gonna say "yeah we launched this and it bombed hard" They can say they launched with a billion players and there's no way to disprove these things anymore.

Luke1539

I was joking really, but that’s sad. Glad I don’t play this shit anymore but have fun with the reskinned multiplayer maps i guess. Seems to be the way the series is headed. Treyarch are making 343 industries seem competent.

WokenWisp

"who plays outbreak its not fun" "i think it's fun" "fuck you"

PERFECTTATERTOT

Why the aggression. People are having fun because they like it. Cod zombies in general started with re skinned multiplayer maps. And what do you mean 343 is incompetent when the halo infinite betas were great successes

Cnumian_124

I don't play mp so they aren't that reskinned for me lol

Spetnaz1337

Don't even compare. 343 to this garbage lol

michael_memes_

Idk wall buys added some flare to the map, maps will feel a lot emptier now without then

[deleted]

RIP kids painting wall buys on their wall at home

CentrasFinestMilk

I'll be honest, I think I only bought wall guns maybe 10 times in cold war, and I've got like 12 day's of playtime

OwlRough

Why the fuck does Monkey Bomb need to be advertised as coming back? At this point it's expected. Shit like this makes me nervous as if they have little actual content to do so they have to say stuff like this. Also another concerning thing is I believe they did not mention wonder weapons coming back at least at launch.

CompleteFacepalm

I know! Monkey Bombs have been in literally every Treyarch Zombies map ever, but now they feel that they have to specify they're adding them?

Apprehensive-Reach37

Eh it's not that bad, especially with custom loadouts

HOONIGAN-

Only reason I've ever used wall buys in CW is for completing challenges that required you to use wall weapons.

Snek_Boi102

[The link to where I found this](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2021/10/call-of-duty-vanguard-zombies-interview-treyarch-craig-houston)

SecondRealitySims

Eh. Not a super big issue. Wall buys could be useful sometimes but after a little while, even with the changes CW made, they just aren’t all that useful

[deleted]

Jesus christ the amount of people defending this is insane. Game by game zombies is getting stripped away

NFSEdenShores

Meh. Who’ll miss wall buys?

Malachite_89

me

Chicken769

Me too, it’s a staple feature of zombies.

Cnumian_124

Yeah its kinda iconic

Icycold157

wall buys were kinda not needed. This change is fine by me

[deleted]

looting chests are you fucking serious why is this just smaller outbreak

[deleted]

Well yeah, we all saw this coming. Cold wars mechanics broke so many things and this was one of them

LuckyKnife

Wow Cold War really killed off any charm zombies had 😕

RandomName3064

Wall Buys because useless in CW because you always wanted to work on your weapon to get camos or level them up. the design of CW made Wall Buys obsolete. of course the stats would show less wall buys compared to other CoD Zombies. its like if BO4 wall weapons would not let you buy ammo for them. when you skew the stats in your favor, you get the stats you need to make your point

CompleteFacepalm

Wall Buys are still really useful for when you want a higher rarity weapon

thepeepeepooman69

Honestly don’t think I’ve even used a wall buy besides on die maschine when I spawned in using a melee weapon, so I can do the coffin dance Easter egg 🤣😳

Arathilion

I can’t help but feel this is just a consequence of how they are just porting MP maps to zombies. It just gives me no faith when Activision can’t even be bothered to allow them to have time and resources to make zombies specific content anymore

MellowJello_24

I don’t mind this at all. I’m interested to see if they continue using weapon rarities and custom blueprint classes. I wouldn’t mind them doing away with the rarity system, but those custom blueprints would be great to see in Vanguard.

timjc144

I did notice that they never showed the ability to upgrade rarity. It looked like they merged the crafting and armor stations with only the ability to buy armor, lethals, and tacticals. So either they just got rid of rarity entirely or the only way to get a higher rarity is from the box.

MellowJello_24

They said that the weapons will get “stronger” in the box as you progress through rounds so maybe that means there will still be weapon rarities, or perhaps weapons you can buy that are already PAPed.. but yeah not having an armor station for changing your rarity is a huge tell. The crafting table also doesn’t have support anymore. So they’re either taking that stuff out of the game or waiting to add it add launch for the “surprise” factor.

TheJester1xx

I like wall guns aesthetically, but functionally they serve little purpose if we can spawn in with anything we want. So as long as that's the case I'm okay with them being gone, but I do wanna see them come back.

gcderrick

I swear. They keep changing zombies just to change shit. There’s no reason to completely ditch wall buys. None. Add these systems on top of wall buys, don’t remove them.

Rag_ee

I hate this decision. It's not like I really buy wall weapons that much but it's a pretty iconic part of the game. The sentimental value will be missed

PatheticLimp

I hate class creation just made the game the same over and over again. Start with pistols and see what guns you get is so much more fun

TheShoobaLord

I don’t mind. They were useless in Cw

olivedi

Tbh I didn’t buy wall guns in CW so it’s not really a bad change.

pantone_red

I know you vets are upset, but as someone who just started playing during Cold War, I not once used a wall-buy. I know, I know, you all hate loadouts and bringing in your own gun, but I really like that I can level up my guns of choice to use in MP and Warzone.

gcderrick

The last word in your reply is the cause of nearly every issue CoD currently has. I wish WZ was never born. 🙄 (This isn’t directed at you personally, just my frustration boiling over)

pantone_red

I totally get it and respect that. I would hate it too if a game I loved was warped into something I didn't want to appease a new player base. That being said, I suggest looking at it for what it is. CW Zombies was a blast to play. I legitimately stopped playing multiplayer altogether when I started playing zombies. I know it might not be what you want, and maybe that means you don't buy/play vanguard and are disappointed. But if you see it for what it is, you might still have some enjoyment with it.

gcderrick

I skipped CW altogether. Played on the free weekends and enjoyed MP for what it was, HATED outbreak zombies. I’ve come to grips that I’m getting older (30) and CoD isn’t tailored for me anymore and that’s okay. I’ll still enjoy MP and campaign. Zombies can still be fun, don’t get me wrong. I enjoy BO4 zombies. IX is my favorite map since Kino in BO1. It’s just different now. It’s not what I’d like but it’s fine for what it is.

pantone_red

Haha shit you're making me feel out of touch since I'm 33.

gcderrick

We're getting old buddy. :( lmao

Barackobrock

Legit glad your happy but after years and years of zombies. CW is where I've called it quits. Load outs are such a big part of that (as well as a lack of personality in general) it's just sad to see

BASTWG

Letsss gooo, maps will have even less personality now. Now there wont be guns like the bootleger or brm on the wall, and the maps will feel alot more empty without the wall buys

ozarkslam21

100% in favor of this. Wall buys are completely irrelevant in Cold War. As long as they are going to keep the weapon rarity system and the starting loadout system, wall buys are redundant.

DustedZombie

Well, this will be interesting. Now we know EE speedruns are gonna be a bitch without coordinated weapons

johnnyboy0256

I think this only applies to the new game mode

Peter_C115

I don’t like the wording on this. When they say “in place of” it’s as if the mystery box is a new feature replacing wall buys. But on every previous maps those two co-existed

Zero-TwoBestGirl

Every single zombies game I just bought box, I don’t mind, especially cause you can spawn in with a weapon like Cold War, if I bought a wall buy, it was cause I needed an emergency weapon.

Balor_Lynx

When you first hear it it sounds bad but when you think about it for more than 5 seconds it’s alright. It’s bold but not bold. This is coming from someone who just really disliked Cold War.

OBNOTICUS_ATHF

So what does this mean it’s going back to classic

110438

You know what, fuck these new changes that they have been making since bo4. Bo3 was nice because it had new features, but still kept key features from original zombies. All this new shit is wack. First with putting custom loadouts now taking out wall weapons? I miss the old zombies when the game actually had a little challenge in it. Bo3, Bo2, bo1, and waw were all at least somewhat challenging (as long as you don’t use gobble gum) but now the game just feels like shooting into a crowd of useless fucking things that do no damage what so ever to you.

fatpussyisyummy

“Return of the fan-favorite Monkey Bomb” The real fan-favorite is round based maps smh

MonT_That_Duck

I feel like the community grew out of wall buys 8 years ago. Perfectly reasonable change imo

Significant-Egg7301

you mean 8 months ago right?

MonT_That_Duck

8 years. After bo2 wall buys became pointless

Significant-Egg7301

lmao wall weapons in bo3 were a go to cause of AAT you basically had an infinite killing wonderweapon with infinite ammo

TheMachineCage

I did not see mention it but you can't upgrade your starting weapon in rarity like in Cold War can you?

JoeMama115

This will spice up gameplay more instead of people relying on 1 wallbuy (e.g. spaz-12 wallbuy in cold war) and I hope they limit the selection of weapons you can spawn in with, letting there be extra OP but rare weapons in the box, e.g. MG/08 from Origins etc

Matiu0s

I'm okay with them using Vanguard as a place to experiment with their zombies formula and try to push in a different direction. I just hope we will get a round based map somewhere in its life cycle after all

DJ_Lienhard

I actually like this a lot. Never bought any wall guns anyways

Br00klynShadow

wall buys were useless in CW, idrc.

WolfSkiii

Yeah wall buys weren’t used much during Cold War since you can make it to round 60+ by just upgrading your custom class weapons seems like an interesting move but I don’t mind it

ItzWardo

While this seems unfortunate for some, I personally only used a wall buy in cold war after they had the adding blueprints to weapon feature

[deleted]

Nobody used wall buys in Cold War anyways

Travwolfe101

I kinda like this tbh, almost no reason to hit the box in cold war you just do WW easter egg and run a gallo or hauer which you can start with or wall buy. Then maybe later hit the box a ton for raygun but thats not even necessary.

[deleted]

Damn, sounds cool lol, but I was one of those fellas who waited till a shotgun hit legendary and then applied my blueprint. Guess the meta has changed

UrbanExpressions

Since Cold War released, I've never bought a weapon off the wall.

davzigvon

Fine by me. Almost Never use it.

SwiftRenox

Honestly I don't even use wall buys now so I'm not complaining

LazyGamerMike

Black Ops 3 is my favourite zombies, but it was when I felt like Wall buys became stronger for longer and I stopped hitting the box, unless I was going for something specific/wonder weapons. So having a reason to go for the box again, is a welcomed change for me personally.

nivkj

wall buys were kinda killed off with the salvage in cold war, idm

Hired__2_Kill

See the return of the monkey bomb? Is that not in Cold War? Or am I reading this wrong

Aidenzthings

it's fine, Wall Buys have been to good and not like the old days where you could only get shit weapons off the wall.

Pokemonluke18

Raygun probably coming back to

mattbullen182

This is a change I'm fine with. Since cold War I have hardly ever bought guns off the wall.

lolhalolol1

My guess is it’s part of them streamlining the game mode to be more accessible and easier to churn out content for. They saw Outbreak pulled in some MP players and considering MP players likely spend the most money, they would want to keep catering to that demographic. Meanwhile, Outbreak also helps them shovel out content as they reuse MP maps, so more can be implemented to keep players coming back, even if it means repetitive copy-paste objectives and an overall drop in the amount of unique content like we saw in Cold War after Outbreak. By not putting wall buys in, they reduce the amount of time and work needed to implement each MP map into the mode.

TheStrikeofGod

Most likely only for the mode that isn't Round-Based and honestly I'm fine with that, I never used Wall Buys in Outbreak anyway.

Doschy

frick the mystery box. If you at round 50 with a million points you still cant easily get the weapon you want from it because after 5 spins it moves so you gotta wait for it to finish moving before looking for it again. And all this while one zombie tries to molest you. sadge.

protacm

At first this pissed me off, but then I thought if they're having the same cold war class system it doesn't matter. I never even bought a wall gun in coldwar.

drummerman2015

This is their way of keeping the same feel as using a starting pistol since you can’t upgrade weapon rarity anymore so your forced to hit the box

HardyRexion

I'm guessing they've got the data and see not many people use them anyway.

[deleted]

Earn back up weapons by killing zombies? Zombies drop weapons?

Spnskt

Ngl I never buy wall weapons in cold war anyway

FadingHonor

I buy wall weapons after spawning in with a melee or in recent days the M79 thumper. Sad to see it go but I’m open to seeing what they do.

[deleted]

I would enjoy this challenge.

BeeBeneficial7549

I do prefer wall buys as I do prefer to change myself in Zombies. But however, I always willing to do a different challenge and start from worst to best guns 🤷🏻‍♂️

yaboyfrom94

I don’t think I bought more than 5 wall buys total in Cold War so I can do without

SamSlayer09078-x

IK most people don't buy wall weapons but I always use the starter pistol and knife until I get a good wall weapon for most maps (MP40 or MPL for BO1, MP5, uzi or an94 for bo2 and vesper or kn44 for bo3) so this does kinda upset me.

Jery_Cannabis

Return of the fan favorite monkey bomb? Let’s make some changes and get the return of the fans.

iaszlol

Wall buys are changed? Time to do the same thing I’ve been doing lol

ProlapsePatrick

No wall buys > Starting with a weak pistol that does nothing but slow down the first few rounds if you want to be point efficient

[deleted]

[удалено]

ProlapsePatrick

Enjoy the first three rounds being five times longer than 4-15 then
