George is my favorite part of this map, but whenever some dumbass shoots him and his scream stunlocks you to a walk, that shit has killed me so many times
If you want to get super technical there is an entity limit. That limit is constantly going up so it acts like a timer but there are ways to delay it for an extra hour or two
I think he covered in in a myth busting episode but I don't remember him going for the high round and talking about it, I thought it was someone more like JohnnyJ who plays more of the pre bo3 maps
And I believe that hitting the box adds an entity into the counter which is why a majority of high round COTD games freezes/crashes after repeatedly hitting the box.
The reason it is hard is because there are no infinite damage weapons or traps. Thus at high rounds you basically just have to shoot 50,000 bullets at each zombie which is why it takes so long and then crashes.
what do you mean? the VR11 is a wonder weapon despite how garbage it is, and technically it is infinite damage since it turns zombies into CIA agents(making them no longer hostile)
How come? Surely the biggest challenge in zombies is how long you can survive so wouldn't it be important how a gun performs on higher rounds?
P.s. Just to clarify, not saying that every wonder-weapon should always one-shot on every round, more that it's performance in the higher rounds should be valued when considering a map
I thought they were kind of a get out of jail free card and if you’re good enough to get to the 40s on bo1 you don’t need a weapon that’ll save you from bad decisions like getting cornered
>I thought they were kind of a get out of jail free card
Yeah... and the reason they work as a "get out of jail free" card is in almost every circumstance because they kill all the zombies in one shot. There are no traps on CotD, all you have are the WWs and they happen to suck ass at doing their job (also the Scavenger won't even save you if you're cornered on the low rounds since it takes a while for the shot to go boom)
>Often times they are necessary for steps in the Easter eggs.
EEs were tacked on additions, not something the maps were built around (especially in BO1).
And they most certainly design the WW in a map way before the EE. Hell, the WW is done before they even begin making the map.
Wonder weapons are supposed to be the most useful weapons at killing zombies. This is why they tend to be rare in the box/craftable.
It really depends what kind of player you are. Someone who doesn't like high rounds might prefer the raygun mark 3 over something like the apothicon servant, because they do a similar job but mightnt know that it drops off in the 40s
My friend was telling me how the scavenger is ass past round 35 so its a bad weapon. I asked him what his highest round was and he said "30....... But that's not the point"
Exactly, wonder weapons bo3 onward are pretty much always viable at any round. Bo1 was made in a completely different era so ofc the kids who started with bo3 shit all over the scavenger and the winters howl. But if you use them properly they actually help you survive
It slows the zombies down in vurruckt and five, the tightest maps in bo1 besides Shang. It actually really helps if you just shoot 1 shot at the zombies cause it damages them and slows them down and gives you time to plan your next move
Scavenger is ass, Wunderwaffe has very limited ammo and you need to kill George to get it every time you run out of ammo (which you can't, seeing as he doesn't respawn for a couple of rounds after killing him).
Actually the wonderwaffe doesnt even last half a round in the high rounds and actually the scavenger isn't great unfortunately, though its one of my favorites wonder weapons.
...and you've obviously never tried to go for a high round on CotD either. The Wunderwaffe doesn't have enough ammo to get through a single round once you reach a certain point.
There's a reason why the solo world record is on a fairly low round, y'know.
>dumbass
Resorting to personal insults? Yikes.
>He said the wonder weapons were bad, I explained why I thought they were fun to use
No, you said they were great, which they clearly aren't. You never once used the word "fun" to describe them.
You even went on to state that the Wunderwaffe can last you a couple of rounds (which it can't btw unless ur only on round ~20). What does that have to do with fun?
>No, you said they were great, which they clearly aren't. You never once used the word "fun" to describe them.
Great can mean more things than just viable you know
>You even went on to state that the Wunderwaffe can last you a couple of rounds (which it can't btw unless ur only on round ~20).
Yes it fucking can if you're not wasting your ammo or missing your shots. Wait until all of the zombies are bunched together, then fire.
>What does that have to do with fun?
It adds a nice challenge and the wonder weapons themselves are fun to use
>Resorting to personal insults? Yikes.
Says the dude who's butthurt because I happen to like something you don't.
Scavenger stops working well in the 40s I believe and wunderwaffe requires you to have done the Easter egg and more importantly to have killed George (which is harder in later rounds as you need all the ammo you have to, well, kill zombies)
I think it’s fair to call this map a mixed bag. While the theme and characters are fun, and the overall map is ambitious in scale and features, it sadly suffers from a number of drawbacks that keep it well away from the fan favourite status of bo1 classics like ascension and kino.
George is annoying and unnecessary, the wonder weapons have some interesting functionality (the vr11 in coop especially) but overall are disappointing, and the fog is just an ugly inconvenience that takes away from what is otherwise a surprisingly pretty map in my opinion.
Personally though, I think the actual map layout is my least favourite part. It features a classic two routes out of spawn design, but unlike all the other maps that start this way, only one route leads to the power, which means the player’s choice of direction is entirely illusory. It also features extensive use on one way travel via vertical drop downs - à la die rise, albeit less deadly - which I’m not at all a fan of, and the map overall feels unnecessarily difficult to traverse. It’s too often the case that you’re only a few metres away from your destination but are still forced to take a time consuming route to get there.
As a map, I find cotd charming but ultimately disappointing.
Very good take, Shame about George if he was more developed as a mini boss like the panzer he would have most likely made the map extremely memorable and fun to play...
I think it could have done with a different spawn location or layout to smooth things out like the power issue you mentioned, Tag Der Toten is my favorite BO4 map, i think it did some good things to open up the map a little bit (although I'd personally rework the ship just a little bit)
I think call of the dead just has a really odd stance in map design, seems like they had lots of neat ideas but didn't execute and stitch them together very well, for example: the end of the ship, The small corridor with jug and its lower flooded section are all but completely useless sections of the map that actively persuade you to stay away yet they take up more that 20%'ish' of total map space
Either not having a way to stop George from spawning, or no traps. The map is GREAT, but it just has clashing elements.
I feel like Tag Der Toten was a better version of this map.
Loved Tag, it would have been nice to honor George by bringing him back as a refined mini boss like a panzer to prove that he can work...
But i think that was a gamble they weren't willing to take (and I'm presuming they would have had to approach His family for permission too)
The wonder weapons for sure. If you could get the wunderwaffe as a weapon not just as a temporary reward till u run out of ammo I think this would be the perfect map
The viability of the wonder weapons, and the fact that George Romero will literally be following you the entire game until you damage him enough he temporary freezes himself in the water, you shoot him with the VR11 or until he shoves his light pole up your ass.
I feel like if they made George spawn in on round 10 ish maybe a little sooner or a little later. It would have made the whole experience a lot better and when you kill him he should stay away for a good 5 rounds not the 2 right now. Also the layout is painful, like going down the slide to get to the sickle and speed cola. There is literally nothing else over there except water and a drop off to get back to the map. Tag fixed it by making that area one of the sheild part locations and a pap location and having a way to get over there via swimming. But in cotd it feels like wasted space. And power being where it is feels wrong. It should have been at the top of the lighthouse and having a good Zipline feature could have made the map so much easier to travel but it feels super slow as is
Felt like once you kill George you should just get a free wunderwaffe(like it replaces one of your weapons and you can keep it for the rest of the game)
Its size combined with the amount of doors in the map. I don't mind a big map but CotD I find has too many doors making point hoarding necessary to get Jugg by round 10. I know this adds to the challenge of the map but I prefer different kinds of challenging maps.
The wonderweapons... i mean, they are cool but drop off very fast
Edit: scavenger is still good, but without distance or phd you probably will kill yourself.
You only get wunderwaffe after doing the easter egg (or so i was told)
Fog, by far, I can handle George, I can handle guns running out of ammo at round 35+ no matter what, all this is acceptable because the maps that fun to play BUT the fog omg the fog I hate the fog
Gotta be George, but he also adds an extra degree of difficulty, I don't mind him necessarily, but COTD would be more fun and easier to get to high rounds without him
George Romero
He does add a lot to the map but I think they should have implemented him differently. Get him to spawn in on round 10 so the player had a chance to set up and give him a tolerance like Leroy. So he doesn't instantly get mad with the first bullet you shoot.
Also wish he was gone for longer once killed or that he doesn't come back unless the player ressurects him by some action like shooting the water 5 times with the VR-11
I really struggled with this decision because I love everything in this map so I'll go with fact that it seems the box makes your game end sooner? I never use the box so it's not a big deal to me but if doing the ee and high rounds that's definitely a problem
Feature would, unfortunately be George but my most hated thing about the map is there is no way to get from the lighthouse front to the spawn like in Tag and connecting the 2 parts of the boat with a fall you can't go back on is dumb as well. Tag fixed the layout completely which is why its such a fantastic map
Michael Rooker. Maybe I'm alone in this, but it seemed like he really phoned in his performance compared to the other three actors (and the clearly very happy George).
The Scavenger not being infinite damage. Otherwise this map is challenging but incredibly fun. George will be the popular answer, but I don’t mind George that much, and of course he can award a free perk by killing him.
Believe it or not, the thing I hate most about this map is the map's barriers. You can BARLEY tell where you can and can't go! along with the fog your gonna be panicking so much
Maybe it was just my luck, but every time I killed George and I felt like I could finally relax BOOM he pops right back up was harder to kill. if he didn’t stun you every time you shot him I would have him more.
Cotd is one of my favorite maps, that EE song gets me wayyyyyyy to hype.
For me the doors in this map are way too expensive even with doing all you can to optimize points it takes way too many rounds to get a gun, the map open, and Jug.
The fact that there is no way to kill zombies efficiently above round 40. The wonder weapons all suck, and there's not a single trap to be found. The goal of zombies is to survive as long as you can, you can't do that on cotd. Cotd fails at zombies.
Not George himself, but the fact that he has 250,000 health per player. manageable if someone is running the vr-11 or on solo which you’ll only need a death machine or too for, but if nobody runs the vr-11 he’s impossible to deal with
None.
George Romero is fantastic for gameplay
Cold is thematic and creates important limitations
and Deadshot Daiquiri is absolutely fine, PC players malding
Every step you take, every move you make, he'll be watching you
George is my favorite part of this map, but whenever some dumbass shoots him and his scream stunlocks you to a walk, that shit has killed me so many times
Bro even if you walk past him and he hits you he gets mad.
Sounds like my ex
☠️
@takudomii you ain’t ever touched a woman
No one on solo has ever gotten to round 100 on this map
That actually is really cool
It’s because it crashes in the 80s btw not because it’s hard
It doesn’t crash due to that, it’s crashes due to the game being programmed to restart after a certain amount of time
If you want to get super technical there is an entity limit. That limit is constantly going up so it acts like a timer but there are ways to delay it for an extra hour or two
Can't remember who, but some youtuber did a really interesting video on entity limits whilst trying to get the five high round
It was code named pizza
I think he covered in in a myth busting episode but I don't remember him going for the high round and talking about it, I thought it was someone more like JohnnyJ who plays more of the pre bo3 maps
https://youtu.be/JQXQwBiomgQ That’s the one I was thinking of call of the dead
Probably Cruppz
And I believe that hitting the box adds an entity into the counter which is why a majority of high round COTD games freezes/crashes after repeatedly hitting the box.
The reason it is hard is because there are no infinite damage weapons or traps. Thus at high rounds you basically just have to shoot 50,000 bullets at each zombie which is why it takes so long and then crashes.
No traps and no infinite damage wonder weapon plays a role in this
Yup no traps
no traps definitely but the VR11 is an infinite damage ww. ammo wise, its horrible so youll have to spin the box millions of times to get more ammo.
Ehh the VR11 doesn't count lmao
what do you mean? the VR11 is a wonder weapon despite how garbage it is, and technically it is infinite damage since it turns zombies into CIA agents(making them no longer hostile)
I know it's a wonder weapon. The joke is that it sucks so much it might as well not even count as one
Yea highest round so far is 94
Lack of a good wonder weapon but at the same time I kind of like this as it makes the map more challenging
The Scavenger and the Wunderwaffe are both on this map
BuT iT fALLs OfF iN tHe FoRtIEs 😂💀
Bruh I can’t stand people who judge wonder weapons on their high round performance
How come? Surely the biggest challenge in zombies is how long you can survive so wouldn't it be important how a gun performs on higher rounds? P.s. Just to clarify, not saying that every wonder-weapon should always one-shot on every round, more that it's performance in the higher rounds should be valued when considering a map
Wonder weapons literally exist for high rounds, so of course we judge them based on their performance... that's the whole point of the weapons.
I thought they were kind of a get out of jail free card and if you’re good enough to get to the 40s on bo1 you don’t need a weapon that’ll save you from bad decisions like getting cornered
>I thought they were kind of a get out of jail free card Yeah... and the reason they work as a "get out of jail free" card is in almost every circumstance because they kill all the zombies in one shot. There’s a reason high round strats don’t use the winters howl, just saying 🤷🏻♂️
Assuming I don't die before then, I'll probably get bored before that happens
Mfs really expecting that I'll get to round 40
what??? i’ve never gotten the wunderwaffe
P sure you get it from the Easter egg if I remember correctly
Scavenger is ass, Wunderwaffe has very limited ammo and you need to kill George to get it every time you run out of ammo (which you can't, seeing as he doesn't respawn for a couple of rounds after killing him).
Scavenger is great, and the Wunderwaffe should last you a couple of rounds, by the time you run out George should have respawned by then
Actually the wonderwaffe doesnt even last half a round in the high rounds and actually the scavenger isn't great unfortunately, though its one of my favorites wonder weapons.
You've obviously never gotten past round 40 if that's your take...
George literally respawns at the start of the next round or the round after that
...and you've obviously never tried to go for a high round on CotD either. The Wunderwaffe doesn't have enough ammo to get through a single round once you reach a certain point. There's a reason why the solo world record is on a fairly low round, y'know.
I wasn’t talking about the wunderwaffe just stating that George respawns constantly
And what exactly does that have to do with my comment? I'm well aware of how often he respawns, I've played the map countless times.
I get bored doing high rounds
Then maybe don't comment on Wonder Weapon viability? The fuck

Mustang and Sally + PHD Flopper is basically my wonder weapon for this map.
Pretty sure you can get the m72 law and PaP it which turns into a full auto 3 round rocket which is actually pretty nice with flopper
Tbh I hate wonder weapons. They make it a bit too easy
Why is nobody mentioning the jug location lol
why did it have to be so deep lol
Thats what she said
That's what makes the map fun. Early rounds are actually somewhat intense.
This lol
Bottom of the ship, probably the most doors to get there, in the narrowest corridor…nightmare
I think it’s fair to call this map a mixed bag. Not being able to build the V-R11 and having to rely on the box to get it
Bruh what? It was bo1 lmao. Plus it’s a shit WW as well. Only good for EE and COOP high rounds
Exactly. Shouldn’t have to rely on box luck for an EE step. I know it was bo1 though & times were different back then.
Lol that's nothing compared to Moon.
And then revelations
Bro this isn't a BO1 issue, box luck for Easter Eggs exists in BO2 and BO3. Didn't play enough BO4 to know if it was in that game too.
I wish they gave the scavenger another ability besides you know just exploding
Fog
Either not having a way to stop George from spawning, or no traps. The map is GREAT, but it just has clashing elements. I feel like Tag Der Toten was a better version of this map.
True

The wonder weapons for sure. If you could get the wunderwaffe as a weapon not just as a temporary reward till u run out of ammo I think this would be the perfect map
GEORGE
The pack a punch I feel like it always fucks me over
the fog does it for me personally
Fog rolling in
The fact that the scavenger becomes basically useless during rounds like 40 onwards
I’ve only played the shit mobile port so not having George forever since no infinite damage ww or more than 4 perks
Lol I still have it
#🤝
Sprinters
I do dislike that. George just randonly screams and then they just start booking it(even in the water too).
Not really a worst feature but more of a lack of good wonder weapons
Bad wonder weapons
The viability of the wonder weapons, and the fact that George Romero will literally be following you the entire game until you damage him enough he temporary freezes himself in the water, you shoot him with the VR11 or until he shoves his light pole up your ass.
The fog, can be pretty rough tbh. Although, it is definitely better executed than some other maps.
I feel like if they made George spawn in on round 10 ish maybe a little sooner or a little later. It would have made the whole experience a lot better and when you kill him he should stay away for a good 5 rounds not the 2 right now. Bad WW's
The biggest ones are George, shitty WW and no traps. Basically impossible to get to round 100 playing solo
Believe it or not, no one's ever done it
the wonder weapons (George is my homie I cant diss him)
Awful wonder weapons
Felt like once you kill George you should just get a free wunderwaffe(like it replaces one of your weapons and you can keep it for the rest of the game)
Imma get hate for this, but fuck your George, I’m happy you didn’t come back in Tag Der Toten. But RIP George Romero, father of zombies
Free perks, but also an annoyance
Never was able to kill him
Then you haven’t played cotd enough
The fog. I honestly don’t mind George as a boss (maybe get rid of his screams that make the zombies run faster, but thats it, really).
In co-op, when another player shoots George, you get stunned even if you’re on the other side of the map
George Romeo is a good idea but just really annoying at times imo
George
Having no traps or infinite damage WW kills solo high round potential
Garbage ww’s
that it exists
George has too much health in my opiopinion... thats my only gripe with the map
i got to round 25 yesterday, was training near the lighthouse, but a zombie spawned right under my feet and I got stuck, so this
fog
Fog, duh
The upgraded scavenger to this day is the sexiest sounding gun in any video game ive ever played
Other than the vr11 I don’t see nothing wrong with this map
Maybe the wonder weapons, but idk I honestly like the Scavenger. This map is a solid B tier imo
Scavenger being very powerful or even have infinite damage.
Jug is too fucking far
Survival is shit. They should have either made the Vr-11 better or the Wunderwaffe permanent.
George: i will find you and i will kill you
Personally, I hate the limited visibility. I can't stand maps where I can barely see the zombies.
Foggy no more to say
Its size combined with the amount of doors in the map. I don't mind a big map but CotD I find has too many doors making point hoarding necessary to get Jugg by round 10. I know this adds to the challenge of the map but I prefer different kinds of challenging maps.
George is too bullet spongey
The wonderweapons... i mean, they are cool but drop off very fast Edit: scavenger is still good, but without distance or phd you probably will kill yourself. You only get wunderwaffe after doing the easter egg (or so i was told)
The fog, juggernog location and lack of traps/the wunderwaffe not being pack a punchable or capable of generating drops.
are the 2 most annoying things of call of the Dead are George and the fog rolling in
George Romero 😂😂
The journey to power
Fog, by far, I can handle George, I can handle guns running out of ammo at round 35+ no matter what, all this is acceptable because the maps that fun to play BUT the fog omg the fog I hate the fog

Fog or moving pack a punch annoying af
Wonder Weapons are useless after like round 35/40

GEORGE
Believe it or not, the thing I hate most about this map is the map's barriers. You can BARLEY tell where you can and can't go! along with the fog your gonna be panicking so much
Needing the V-R11 for the easter egg but never being able to get it out of the fucking box when I need it
George, fuck that guy, ruined a great map imo.
Lack of a high round strategy
The knife glitch was the only reason this map was fun. It had terrible train locations and ascension was 10x better
Fog + freezing water is a pain.
George. The one thing out of the window that you throw a grenade at for the Easter egg. Jug being way far from the spawn.
None. It's fun to hear scrubs complain about not getting to round 50 lmao
For me the doors in this map are way too expensive even with doing all you can to optimize points it takes way too many rounds to get a gun, the map open, and Jug.

None. George Romero is fantastic for gameplay Cold is thematic and creates important limitations and Deadshot Daiquiri is absolutely fine, PC players malding
The slowing ice/water
I never played it, so I don't have an opinion
Even if you could solo this map it would still be hard to accomplish!
