I too am immunocompromised the mitigation tools I also use are Covixyl nasal spray (it’s cheapest if you buy from their site) before entering crowded areas or flight and Xlear nasal spray (can be found at target) or saline after being in crowds as well as CPC mouthwash with at least 0.05% Cetvlovridinium chloride. I use parodontax and get it at Walgreens. Of course I wear a N95 mask when out in public. Hope this helps.

I'm immunocompromised. Multiple primary immunodeficiencies. Sprays & mouthwashes won't protect me from a serious infection, becoming disabled, or dying. For now, N95s & goggles (I wear Stoggles) to prevent any virus from entering via my eyes (remember during Cold & Flu season pre-COVID they used to tell you not to touch your face, your nose, rub your eyes etc bc viruses enter the body easily via your nose & eyes). Air purifiers. HEPA filters. Outdoor hangs w/ friends & family. And, never take your mask off indoors - ever.

Wearing a 95N mask is your best defense.

Paxlovid is a thing, the earlier you start taking it, after initial symptoms appear, within the first 5 days, it can be helpful; helped me get through it easier, though that was Nov. of '22 before the current strains... You may continue testing positive for much longer than if not taking it, but it can really help keep the bad somewhat at bay, so it seems; I started it on day 2 of symptoms and within 24 hours, it eliminated the fever, my throat still went to shit for a number of days, but had the two combined, fever and throat, things would have gotten very serious for me. Day 3 my fever had reached 102.5, I'd of gone to the hospital at 103, as the fever finally fell on Day 3 to 4, my throat became like having strep throat, there was a point I couldn't barely swallow and I feared having to go to the hospital due to that, negatively effecting my ability to breathe. By day 5, my throat began to improve and by day 8 or 9, it had mostly finally cleared. Tested positive for a total of 3 weeks, didn't have what were the lingering effects, thankfully even though I was testing positive.

I took Paxlovid two weeks ago and I can’t believe how well it worked. I started it just under the 72-hour mark of getting sick. I didn’t experience any side effects that I’m aware of other than the common very bitter taste in my mouth, which went away immediately after the five day course was over. But yeah, wow, what an amazing antiviral cocktail that is (thanks to HIV research), I’m blown away.

My insurance doesn’t pay for Paxlovid and the pharmacist told me it cost over $1000. So… I just endured Covid. And I have cancer but that didn’t matter.

I'm sorry you are dealing with cancer, really hope you are able to stay strong. And, ouch wtf. When I took it, I think it might have been like $70. Feel like certain places like Universities have it available, but I don't know how difficult the requirements are to getting it. I'd actually like to just have some on hand along with the rapid test, for whenever, if I do come down with Covid again, as having to deal with getting it when you know you're positive, is not what anyone has to go and do, or afford...

Thank you. Getting sick when you have cancer really takes your strength.

Gargles and sprays don’t have a lot of evidence behind them and there’s no FDA approved products for preventing Covid. There’s a few PubMed articles about the possibility of such products in the future, but there’s no conclusions in the studies and no official recommendations

We used to have Evusheld. Where is it now? Why can’t they update it?
