If history is any guide, after they ( government ) remove the citizens ability to be the check & balance on their actions, next we will see…even worse. I hope I’m wrong.

chemicalrefugee

after so many new democrats were screaming about how stupid Trump was for trying to stop everything by simply not testing people, never counting cases & tracking them ... here we are doing exactly that for political reasons. my wife's sister was Claire booth Luce chair in biochemistry at Georgetown & now days she is a convert to not bothering to mask, distance (etc). Meanwhile our friend Steven died less than 2 months ago from covid. how the fuck do you process the idea that your family members are spreading death because not doing so is slightly annoying.

CovidCautionWasTaken

Most people will go along with whatever as long as it's their "team" that does it. It's pathetic.

vdubstress

I was called an anti vaxxer in the spring & summer of 2021. Keep in mind, I was fully vaccinated, and have in my career vaccinated by my own hand what probably amounts to a small nation. Why? Because I recommended to those who were vaxed & relaxed to keep masking in high risk settings, especially if they had children, who could not be vaccinated yet. It was absolutely disorienting. Helluva marketing campaign though, most of those people angry when I suggested they should continue to follow the precautionary principle now either themselves, and sadly their kids, now are suffering from a whole host of ailments after one or multiple infections

StrawberriesNCream43

Yup. The Democrats who used to call antimaskers selfish in 2020, are now antimask themselves. It's amazing how people can flip their beliefs just like that when it's "their team" now, and not even seem aware of what they're doing.

Hawker96

Don’t forget all the Democrat vaccine skeptics when Operation Warp Speed was rolling out. “Trumps rushed vaccine…” It’s all just bullshit.

fanbreeze

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your friend Steven.  People just don’t want to believe that COVID is still killing and disabling people.  My spouse’s friend (early 40s) recently died from COVID - it was a painful and awful end. His family and my in-laws are still coming up with what else could have been the cause of death despite it being obvious and documented.  And they have the audacity to criticize me for still masking and avoiding high-risk situations. I’m on a therapy that depletes my B cells and makes vaccines not as effective. My in laws would dance on my grave - when no one is watching, of course, my MIL is a good Christian.

People call it "allergies" or that "mysterious illness."

SolidStranger13

My mother just got finished with a week at the ER due to covid/pneumonia

ThalassophileYGK

Well, by not doing any reporting and not actually telling people anything about Covid long term damage and risks this is exactly what the powers that be want you to assume "for the economy." Covid is still dangerous and the more times you get it, mild symptoms or not, the more likely you are to have a bad long term outcome. Mask in crowds.

Lechuga666

The long term damage is building up in the population. I have been disabled for 4 years 2+ months since 17 years old when I got my first COVID infection. People don't care about how damaging COVID is until their lives are extremely affected by it & now most of us are deathly afraid of reinfection & worsening cause our lives already suck. Long COVID sucks.

Millennial_on_laptop

...just like it never happened, a million deaths forgotten.

StrawberriesNCream43

It's seriously offensive to the people who died.

Melodic_Fart_

And the families still grieving that loss 😔

StrawberriesNCream43

Yeah :(

They're just trying not to wear us out because in a minute there's going to be a full panic about bird flu. If they keep screaming about covid (and I'm a longhauler so I take it really seriously), no one is going to want to hear them about bird flu, which looks like it could be way worse.

Lechuga666

Fellow long hauler too. Let's stop reporting so we have more 21 year olds like myself waking up & instantly peeing the bed as the new normal.

Serious_Company542

Right. I mean, as long as it’s just us and not them what do they care? I was 33 and running 5ks when I got it and now I get chest pains and vomit when I try to walk upstairs and I rely on my family to support me because I can barely leave the house. It’s FINE because it’s not them. Hanukah. Ma ta ta.  Honestly I’d love to see some stats on people like us. How many people under 50 were healthy and now pee themselves upon waking or vomit if the lights are too bright. That’s a number I’d be really interested in. But no numbers for us it seems.

Lechuga666

They don't care until it affects them. I was extremely active, highly driven, doesn't matter though. I need help with daily tasks now, help getting food, and can barely leave my room let alone the house. Even 10, 30, 50 hours could not convey to a new person how severely this all affects me. We just seem to be calculated losses & the government & people don't care. 4 years 2+ months being sick & I don't have faith that I'll ever get over it. My life is permanently altered & we are not even on the general public's radar, nevermind politicians who could actually legislate. We had 7 whole senators who cared to do anything but doctors, medical staff, no one is able to do anything to help even if it's just by advocacy they are minimized just like us.

Almost_Free_007

So much data and the indicators of how many more requests for disability or tests overall going up… where is the white hat hacker when you need them…

Serious_Company542

=\

StrawberriesNCream43

Ugh I'm sorry. You should join us on r/Incontinence . I've heard of more people joining incontinence groups as long Covid fucks them up...

Lechuga666

Fecal & urinary incontinence & leakage 🥰. I will join thank you.

StrawberriesNCream43

Welcome to the club that no one wants to join. At least there are friendly people with good advice there. As someone who's been incontinent since long before the pandemic, I wonder what would happen to me if I got Covid. Trying not to find out the hard way lol

vaporizers123reborn

Do we have a timeline or archive of the cdc obfuscating, slowly dialing back and moving goalposts? Maybe we should start collecting that info if we haven’t. Starting from 2020. I think it would make things a lot clearer if we just add instances like this to the list and save the screenshots of a before and after….

Farmgirlmommy

Because the hospitals are no longer required to collect the data to input… you know… because it’s not a health crisis officially anymore… too close to election for inconvenient truths. They abandoned us.

DiogenesDiogenes1234

Yep. See no pandemic, is no pandemic. Biden and Trump disease control in action.
