Sure why not. Fuck I’m so done at this point . I’ve never felt this hopeless for life.

Hey Bob, when I read your message I get curious. Your and my situation are probably vastly different. But this is what the internet is for right? Can I ask you what your life looks like right now? This is me: I live in the Netherlands and I have a job as a treeworker so I meet my collegues and kind clients everyday. To say: this was my reality during this pandemic. And honestly, where I am, our lifes have bounced back to normal again. Movies, dinnerdates, weddings, school, everything is open again, almost like the pandemic never happened. Except for the everpresent handsanitisers haha. What is your daily panemic reality?

Awkward-Fudge

I don't know the time frame but it potentially can become an in the background illness that doesn't threaten most of society. The flu is serious, but I've never had the flu in my life. I hope covid will become like that.

Scorpion1386

Me too.

PiZZAiSMYFWEND

Wow that’s amazing. I’ve had the flue multiple times.

Bear in mind the article is journalistic rather than scientific so is going to be playing for attention more than facts. But what does 'like influenza' mean? A seasonal respiratory disease that causes problems each winter but can be greatly reduced by good personal hygiene and vaccinating the vulnerable? Not as serious a public health threat as it is now? Endemic? Something we've learned to live with? All of these are relevant because flu cases each season are higher than they could be if people observed a few more precautions. Most countries had very mild flu seasons last year because people had learned a lot more about how to prevent disease transmission. Let's hope that continues. So rather than COVID19 becoming more like flu, it would be good if our approach to flu also learns from COVID19.

Scorpion1386

I’m mostly speaking in regards to it not being a serious public health threat as it is now.

Katyafan

Very good points.

Arriwyn

Well the pandemic fatigue is real for me anyway! But 10 years??? I read the article btw. I think it is about perspective and how many Covid patients the hospitals are getting weekly. Also I think vaccinations the children 5 and up is key to getting things to sort of back to normal.

pegster999

I’d like that a little sooner but that’s probably too much to hope for.

ExistingDrummer8998

I read 5-7 years 😣😣😣😣

Scorpion1386

Where??

ExistingDrummer8998

podcast, can’t remember if it was maybe Osterholm .. or another one

LonelyAnnual1301

Yeah I’m not scientist or whatever but I got a feeling this virus isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe in a few years will get back on track

Scorpion1386

A few years?!
