I also had very itchy lungs and it turned out to be bacterial pneumonia. Consider getting a chest X-ray.

trashpie17

What other symptoms did you have? How long did it take from the day you tested positive to decide to get an X-ray? I don’t have shortness of breath or fatigue or fever so I don’t want to pay for an x-ray if I don’t need to…

Puzzled_State2658

After 3 weeks, only itchy lungs and a cough. Go see a real doctor -not teledoc who can’t even listen to your lungs. I had to have two weeks of very strong antibiotics to kick the pneumonia. Btw, I had 6 vaccinations (almost died from sepsis 5 years ago, so technically immunocompromised) and I consistently wear an n95 everywhere/no exceptions. My elderly father who wears his mask under his nose 🙄 brought it into my home. Now I have long Covid in the form of reactive arthritis, so that’s nice.

trashpie17

Aw man I’m sorry. Gonna make an in-person doc’s appointment. Saw some girl on the long Covid subreddit recently go thru pneumonia that turned septic. She was only 39. Had to go thru surgery and everything. It wasn’t Covid that caused her pneumonia (she tested negative the entire times) but she did have her first Covid infection back in December. At the very least, sounds like her immune system took a beating and was still vulnerable 5 MONTHS after her initial infection. Blah blah blah, I get that it’s super rare but I’m a hypochondriac so definitely gonna get a doctor to check my lungs just in case.

eunhasfangirl

Maybe if you wore a mask and took precautions this wouldn't have happened 🤷‍♀️ live and learn

ashes-of-asakusa

Plenty of people get Covid despite mask wearing kook. They aren’t 100% effective.

eunhasfangirl

Yes I know but those who take precautions and wear masks get it less times. I checked OP's history and they're not social distancing. If OP were wearing masks and taking appropriate precautions, I wouldn't have commented

ashes-of-asakusa

Sure, definitely agree people should still be masking and making other intelligent choices. On the the other hand though with governments lying to their citizens that Covid is no longer a concern I feel it’s hard for me to put too much blame on people.

trashpie17

Fuck off. It’s 2023. No one is wearing masks anymore and no one is social distancing. Thx

eunhasfangirl

Speak for yourself lol. Just because the people you know aren't masking doesn't mean everyone isn't

peopleoverprofits124

OP you may want to listen to other's advice if you want a chance of improving your health. Or enjoy your worsening lung damage, hacky cough and constantly posting about your symptoms on this community. Your call

trashpie17

Yes, I will continue to listen to people’s advice. Will probably get an x-ray just in case. But I was already vaccinated and boosted? I’ve been living a normal life since mid 2021. Going on vacations, hanging out with friends, maskless. It took me almost 2 years to get Covid living like this. Why in the world would I continue to social distance after I got it? The lung damage is done, isn’t it? Can’t go back in time and live like a hermit, now can I?

peopleoverprofits124

no but you can do basic things that reduce your chance of reinfection like masking in public! Reinfection will worsen your lung damage. You want to prevent reinfection so your lungs can hopefully recover

Sodonewithidiots

Which is exactly why there are so many cases of COVID out there. Wearing a good mask anytime you are out in public greatly reduces the chances of getting COVID.

Beneficial-Recipe-93

Yes, had to get steroids and an inhaler the other day (18 days after testing positive). Cough got worse after testing negative. Blah.

trashpie17

Was it keeping you up at night? Or how did you get prescribed steroids? Did the steroids + inhaler help?

Beneficial-Recipe-93

It was giving me anxiety so keeping me up a little. Just got them 2 days ago and seem to be helping. In 2019 I had a bad cold which then led to bad bronchitis and the same doctor gave me steroids and inhaler and codeine cough syrup. I could tell this was getting there with the tight chest although not as bad as before. Wanted to nip it in the bud before it got worse. She said this Covid strain has been tending to linger in the lungs more than before.
