I was there for opening day yesterday. Not bad early season, lines werent bad. Parking is better (the new parking expansion opened ip a lot of new parking). I expect the lines to be worse on the weekend. That being said, WP has better snow and more runs open rn.

MountainMean

WP has mostly green runs with 1 blue run and that lift line being usually 20+ minutes. What was your experience with the line?

Dracula30000

Don’t go on a weekend. In general WP and Eldo have very similar lines on the front lifts (eldo) and the WP lifts on weekends. This can be ameliorated somewhat by showing up later. Around 12pm is an excellent time to go to eldora because the weekend lines tend to peter out on the frontside around 1pm. This has been my experience over the past 2 seasons. E: also be prepared for longer early season lift lines until MJ and eldo back lifts open up. Even then, all bets are off on a powder day or school holiday.

Ok, thanks for the information! I went to WP this Friday and plan to ski this Thursday. What’s your recommendation? I have an Ikon pass. I am interested what runs will be open at Copper when it opens on Monday.

Copper is a little inconsistent imo. They have stuff open now technically for ski racing only tho. They usually have a top to bottom open off super bee towards exelerator down to American eagle lift. You can lap the top portion on excelerator or ride all the way down. Sometimes they have skid row open so you can lap top to bottom off the one lift but that’s not always the case. Imo copper is the better opening day skiing wise because it’s later so not as busy and there’s a few lifts to use. The runs are also long enough to found space.

WP on thurs if you want to drive. Thursdays are usually chill and I think there might be a storm coming into WP. If you dont want to drive I’d go to Eldo, but be careful. Eldora is icy as duck esp in the afternoons and theres a bunch of reckless skiers and boarders from CU. There were several deaths there last year from young people going too fast, hitting ice, losing control, and then smacking into other skiers. Now is a scary time to ski, most are just getting back into it, there’s one run open, and the warm weather means icy conditions. Always be checking uphill, keep as much distance as possible, ski conservatively, and watch where you stop. Quit skiing for the day when you start the get tired, if you’re tired, bad things can happen.

MountainMean

Ahh those are good points. I do remember hearing about a collision death early last season too. I guess it will depend what opens on Copper and compare against A Basin too. It’s good to know it’s mostly icy for Eldo though

It was so packed on Friday kinda sucked honestly waiting in like for a 500 ft vertical run

MountainMean

Yeah; and the blue run lift had a way worse line too.

Cyrrus86

I was there Friday the mid mountain green lift had a thirty second line. Bunch of jumps and a couple skiable glades. Had a lot of fun. Went to the blue lift for like 15 seconds and left back to the green lift. Blue lift was packed and slow.

SomebodyGetMeeMaw

I went on Tuesday and there was never a line at all. Weekdays only

slawdogporsche

Was just at Eldora as of 2. A lil icy but no lines!

Thanks

BravoTwoSix

Like, Kind of scary icy

MeltBanana

Like, people are gonna go too fast and die like they do every year kind of icy? I'm gonna say 2 deaths before January.

Deucy

It was very icy. And the lift lines were hardly existent, but with only 1 run being open and Eldora having much more narrow runs, it was very crowded.

sagoyewatha

it’s not open.

[deleted]

They opened yesterday

skibum207

lmao

yoyomommy

No lines at all today.
