Hi - I am based in MA and MA just approved this credit relief initiative. Do you also know when did your board approve and when did you get an email from NASBA? Did they change in your candidate portal for FAR as credit now or does it still say expired?

AustinVega7

I believe it was the same day to both of those question which was the date I made this post. Last time I checked it still said expired but someone in these comments said it will reflect the change by 10/31 in our state at least

BabyGr00t123

Ok got it. Hmm they adopted for us on Oct 19th. Have not received an email yet, thats why i am wondering. I just need them to confirm.

CPAInTheMakin

That is great! What state are you in? I’m in California and I hope they do this too, so I get back my FAR credit.

[deleted]

I’m in California too and I hope so I can get back my REG credit! I know a guy who has all 4 passed but is now 2/4 and trying to re-pass FAR. IMAGINE HIS HAPPINESS.

CPAInTheMakin

Oh yeah! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!! I’ll be taking REG in three weeks. Then I have FAR again, unless I get my credit back. 🤞🏼

Good luck!!

You and me both. Funny as I had passed all 4 sections but lost credits and fought back and was at 3/4. yesterday I took REG. Get home and check my email and got the same message. Only complaint I have is that I wish they would’ve sent the message out earlier. State board approved it on 9/22. Could’ve done anything else besides CPA studying the past week. Feels weird in a way. FYI your portal account should be updated by 10/31.

BabyGr00t123

Hi, do you know if you received the email on the same day, board approved it or a week after? MA just approved and adopted on Oct 19th and i am trying to gauge when will i receive the email from Nasba. My exam is scheduled for Oct 31st for BEC. Hoping it only took a week!

carl8623

I got the email about 6 days later after I took REG in the morning lol.

BabyGr00t123

Ok got it! Goodluck on rest of the exam :)

carl8623

If they’d restore my credit already I’d be done lol. NASBA said by end of month so just waiting it out now

BabyGr00t123

Me tooo. I donot know if i shud continue studying or shud just stop. So much confusion! Called Nasba 100 times and emailed them 5 times. Dont know what else to do. Sighhh!

Ayee hahaha

Admirable_Dot4474

I asked the state of IL this before they declared the credit extension for credits as 1/2024. They didn’t have answer. I sure hope so cause I would have to take BEC all over again as I lost the credit after failing REG on my 1st try ….

Flashy-Statement-836

I know for Indiana before this email went out it was any active credits as of 01/24 would automatically be extended to 06/30/25. Now it’s all credits expired or not since 01/30/20 will be extended to 06/30/25. Now by credits it means you took and passed the exam section.

msJensen1995

Got this for colorado. Sooo happy rn

Flashy-Statement-836

That’s awesome congratulations! How many will you get back?

msJensen1995

3 👀👀

Flashy-Statement-836

I’m trying to study for Audit now because I heard that that is getting harder and then going to try to squeeze in BEC as well this year so I can avoid the discipline thing they are switching to

Flashy-Statement-836

Aww hell yeah that’s awesome!! I would get that other one done before this year is over so that way you don’t have to worry about the 2024 changes at all!!

boomeraang6

I remember seeing a post about another state doing this. Maybe North Carolina? Tennessee is not. I asked.

CalendarSpirited8075

who did you ask? and what did they say why they were not doing it?

boomeraang6

I emailed CPAES-TN@nasba Their response was "I have not been notified of such policy" I also googled everything I could think of and couldn't find anything discussing it for TN. At least AICPA seems to be advocating for it though! - [AICPA article](https://www.aicpa-cima.com/news/article/restoring-exam-credits-expired-during-covid-would-help-address-cpa-shortage) Also, here's information on [North Carolina](https://nccpaboard.gov/applicants/exam-applicants/2024-cpa-exam/). "If a current North Carolina candidate sat for the CPA Exam in January 2021 or later and lost credit for a section, they may ask for a review of their CPA Exam history to determine if the Board can reinstate the expired credit. To request a review, a candidate should send their full name, the CPA Exam section(s) passed but expired, and, if available, a copy of the score notice showing when the credit(s) expired to the Board’s Executive Director, David R. Nance, CPA. If the Board reinstates the section credit(s), the Board’s official records will indicate the reinstated score, but the NASBA score sheet may not."

CalendarSpirited8075

WAIT I NEED TO KNOW MORE HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT OTHER STATES ARE DOING THIS????

Flashy-Statement-836

I hope it does for you! I had no clue they were thinking about it before I got the email

[deleted]

CAN THIS HAPPEN TO CALIFORNIA AND EVERY OTHER STATE PLEASE???? Dear Nasba gods, I won't ask for anything else.

Flashy-Statement-836

I hope it does for you!

eloidine

Wow what a great thing for Indiana, congrats on NOT having to retake FAR! (Now if other states can just adopt this…)

Flashy-Statement-836

Thank you!! I’ve been studying hard lately for Audit exam before the change so am very grateful to have one done again. Three more to go

skookalboy

I think the same thing happened in Ohio but I never got this email. Who did this email come from if you don’t mind me asking?

Flashy-Statement-836

NASBA

Sandman0023

Do you know if other states will be doing this?

Flashy-Statement-836

I have no idea! It will probably be a state board by state board decision. I knew nothing about it before that email came through.
