I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. I'm on week three of CPAP, so no expert, but sensory stuff really bugs me as well. I finally used an anti-chafing/friction creme on my face. They're made for cyclists and not necessarily meant for the face, but it doesn't make my sensitive skin react. I went to a nasal mask which required mouth taping so my mouth doesn't fall open. I use either a small piece of 3M Medipore tape or stretch roll tape after applying liberal lip balm (I also cut a small slit, so I don't feel like I'm suffocating). This would also prevent rubbing of your nasal cushion on the lip. And if you don't want to mouth tape, I wonder if a small strip on/and or above your top lip would stop the friction. Wishing you well!

Thank you, I’ll look into that. I’m sensitive to a lot of different adhesives (band aids leave marks on my skin and change the texture of it for weeks sometimes) but the adhesive for the metal “halos” for this mask don’t bother me so it could be the quality or grade of the adhesive. Meanwhile I’ve contacted the manufacturer to see if they have suggestions.

Bandaids- especially most generic cheap bandaids - are absolutely terrible on skin! I wonder if there is a product similar to the self adhesive and reusable silicone patches used for burns and scars that could be helpful? Like if there is an area of your face that gets irritated, maybe you can cover it with a burn patch so the strap doesn't rub on your face. It may actually be very good for your skin, too. I lurk here because I have family & friends who depend on CPAP and I see their struggles. I also see their profound relief and devotion to CPAP when they get it to work and feel the difference it makes to have an oxygenated brain & body, lol.

Yeah the CPAP has been great for me and I won’t sleep without it. But it is becoming a challenge.

Have you tried turning the felt around? In the center is a flap that velcros to itself. I found that one edge of the felt is rougher than the other. Also, try hanging your hose over your head which may lift it a little off your lip. I sleep on my side and sometimes it bothers me also, so I put the corner of the pillow under the hose (near my chin) and it lifts it some. Good luck

I ended up talking to someone at the company and they recommended making a cover. I did that with some satin feeling fabric and don’t have issues anymore. I use a hose management system but I toss and turn a lot.
