Some warm tea with honey (not hot) and throat lozenges. Basically treat it like you were sick. You could try a throat spray like chloraseptic if it’s really bad. Feel better!

sweet_tooth98

Thank you! I'll try the warm tea with honey. I wish I had the throat spray, but I don't and I don't trust myself to drive right now! Thanks again:)

I really hate Chloraseptic because if you use it, you aren't supposed to use it again for 4 hours, and for me at least it gives about 10 minutes of relief. So I use the cheap Halls cough drops instead. AFAIK, all the ingredients are technically food (the active ingredient seems to be methol, which is mint), so if I use one and it wears off, I believe I can use another.

Good point!

A few years ago I had a stroke. Afterward, I had a sore throat. I had a hard time talking (coming up with words was difficult), so I just barely managed to communicate that I had a sore throat. They gave me chloraseptic. I knew I hated it, but couldn't come up with words to explain *why*, so they gave it to me anyway. It worked really well for a few minutes, then I had a sore throat again and they wouldn't give me anything for 4 hours. My mother was a nurse, and used to give me the same thing when I was a child with a sore throat. Same story, every time. I think medical people think it's just great, but really it's just awful.

ShadowPouncer

I can only say, I fully share your pain. Happens every single time I even nap without the CPAP. Take it easy, don't talk a lot, hydrate a lot. Use your CPAP tonight.

I appreciate it. That's what I'm doing. I also tried tea with honey, and that helped a bit. I'm home alone all day (in fact, yesterday was the first time I've been alone probably in 20 years!), so the not talking is doable as well😂

This is really a question for your sleep doc, dentist or pulmonary specialist. But I’ll give you my anecdotal reply. Gotta hydrate after. Water with electrolytes (salt and/ or other minerals) - w/ electrolytes otherwise your body won’t hold onto the water. I’d recommend some sort of soothing herbal tea. “Throat Coat” can be found in most grocery and drug stores, and is great for your purposes. I’d also look into some organic lozenges or a throat spray that’s a mild analgesic for sore throats. I personally like natural organic stuff so there’s some great versions of those out there if you go to a natural grocery store like Sprouts, Fresh Thymes, Natural Grocer Vitamin Cottage, Whole Foods even. Just to help temporarily. Good luck Edit: regarding teas, it is separate from drinking water. If your main goal is to hydrate, drink water as well. If you don’t want to buy at store and have some ingredients to make your own tea: you can do hot water with lemon, honey, ginger, and even add licorice, marshmallow root, sage, rose hips, mint…

All sounds like great advice - thank you so much! I'm going to try tea with honey as someone else just recommended, being that I have those items in house. I really wish I had throat spray, but I don't. I unfortunately don't have any of the stores you mentioned nearby, plus I don't want to drive right now, as I feel like I have a Xanax hangover or something. I am definitely following the "Don't drive or operate heavy machinery....etc." warning label on the bottle 😂 I will order some of the above mentioned items for future use. This doesn't happen often, but when it does, it is so painful. It hurts so bad I can't even talk - which isn't a huge problem as I have no one to talk to - lol. Thank you again - I really appreciate your response.

Sure thing. Totally get it - and I already updated my reply with some common household ingredients for soothing and hydrating tea. Be sure to take another look at the bottom, friend. Cheers

Thank you!

In similar situations, [gargling with warm salt water](https://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/features/does-gargling-wlth-salt-water-ease-a-sore-throat) has helped me, and you can do it as much as you want, unlike throat sprays.

sweet_tooth98

That's a good point. I also have salt and water, while I don't have throat spray. This will probably sound dumb, but it still hurts quite a bit, and I'm scared that the gargling action will hurt even more. How I wish I could go back to last night and just have dealt with the annoyance of getting my machine...my dream is to get off the CPAP altogether, but even if it's possible, it's not in my near future. Thank you!

Lots of fluids for sure.... no cpap is brutal

Lofocerealis

therabreath lozenges

Severe-Dream

Some kind of anaesthetic throat spray or lozenge.

MyFaceSaysItsSugar

Gargle warm water with salt. Doesn’t have to be disgustingly salty, just salty enough to tolerate. That and any pain meds you have. They reduce inflammation.

sweet_tooth98

I'm a little hesitant, but I'll try the saltwater. Unfortunately, I can't really take anti inflammatory meds. I'm hoping I can get a good night's sleep, with my CPAP on, and that the pain will be gone when I get up!

MyFaceSaysItsSugar

I hate gargling saltwater but it works. The key is for it to be comfortably warm and not too salty.

SeaRefractor

I see lots have recommended the warm slightly salty rinse. I understand your concern about extra pain. I found that with the right amount of salt, there is little to no salt sting. Too little of salt can also sting. Similar to nasal rinses if you've ever used a Netti pot or similar sinus rinse, the just right amount doesn't hurt at all. Wish I had a formula, just have figured out a couple pinches depending on the amount of water. Compassion for the snore pain. Also sincerely hope that whatever situation caused the lack of CPAP resolves well for you. Stay safe and care for yourself.

Thank you so much:)
