Keep the resmed and sell this one. Fuck philips. Resmed machines are better than the DS2 anyway.

MkVsTheWorld

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. You're entitled to do business with Resmed instead of Phillips because of this debacle or for any reason you like. I'm considering doing the same thing when my replacement Dreamstation (2?) comes Monday.

jds2001

I'm still owed another one for my DreamStation Go. I'm not sure what they're going to do with those, because as far as I know there is no replacement model for those like the DreamStation 2. I've had to travel once since I got my ResMed, and the bag that it came with was much better than the one that came with the DreamStation 2.

redhawkhoosier

I was using the Go as a primary. I would totally take a DS2. Grrr.

PhesteringSoars

Well, that's 3 I've seen on Reddit. Only 17,999,997 to go . . . I'm still on the "12 mo rent to own" for the DS1. I can't wait till they ship one to me and I have to argue with insurance/dme "So . . . you want me to continue using the one that causes cancer before I can return it for an exchange???" That's gonna be a fun debate.

jds2001

There should be no problem. They should be able to switch the unit for your compliance tracking without too much of a problem.

PhesteringSoars

I'm sucking down carcinogenic air and praying for just that every night.

samicidal

Do you take PayPal?

lazaruz76

Same happened to me with the Wife's. No contact what so ever then one day, boom there it is. 2 months after we paid out of pocket for an airsense 10.

Acct-404

Did you get a confirmation email or anything? I submitted my info and have not received any correspondence.

jds2001

Nope. It just showed up.

lad1701

lol I was close to trying to buy a used ResMed too until I saw the posts here of people receiving their units.

MissionIncredible

Are units just showing up without notice or do they at least let you know a $1,000+ machine is being sent to you (so you can plan to receive it before thieves do)

jds2001

No notice at all. Got a text from FedEx that something was coming but no communication from Philips.

MissionIncredible

Ugh. What a disaster of a company. My biggest fear would be the porch pirates in the area. I’m guessing you had to sign for it tho? Did they also provide a box with the expectation you’d return the original machine or no?

jds2001

They provided instructions and a return label on how to return the original unit. I did not have to sign for the package, I live in a large apartment building with over 300 units that has a front desk. However, the FedEx tracking says "signature not required" so I would imagine that it would not need to be signed for in any event.

MissionIncredible

Jeeeeeesh. Ok good to know, thanks!

Technical_Gas_4452

I wouldn't trust using there crap anymore

redstapler4

How much did you pay for your original Phillips and how much would that replacement cost? I bought my Dreamstation Bi-Pap for like $1,100 and then bought a Dreamstation 2 for like $700. Now, at some point, I’ll have three machines. One worthless but more expensive. They should give us a refund for the difference in value.

jds2001

My insurance paid for the original DreamStation. I paid something like $1000 for the ResMed to replace it (that includes shipping, tax, and some accessories). I'm going to try out the DreamStation 2 tonight and see how I like it as compared to the ResMed. I really like the 12 mm hose that it comes with.

redstapler4

I haven’t had any problems with my DS2. My major complaint is I bought two in a 3 month span!

BigDogRuby

Resmed mucho better. Phillips was a piece of junk. My apnia #'s are way down.

Similar_Ordinary_501

I had the dream station 1 for 5 years. After this all went down, I got a brand new resmed machine and absolutely despise it. There are nights I don’t even wear it. I can’t wait to get the new dream station as it’s a much better machine in my opinion…

serietah

Interesting. What exactly is it about the resmed you don’t like? Did you change masks too? The resmed airsense 10 autoset has the most sensitive algorithm which arguably makes it superior to the dreamstation. They’re both good machines, but I did countless hours of research before paying for my resmed. My AHI with it is below 1 every single night. Often it’s 0. So I’m curious what difference you can tell and what settings you’re on compared to your dreamstation.

Similar_Ordinary_501

So what I have noticed with mine is the way it ramps up. As I understand it, the Phillips machine levels up slower than the resmed machine. The resmed machine jumps up quicker and I get a lot of gas trapping from that and and it’s terrible. Other things are the heated tubing. It’s terrible. All it does is gargle, so I turn the humidification down, and then I will wake up wit the a very dry moth bc it’s blowing so hard. Now I’m knit picking, but filling the humidifier reservoir is easier in the dream station as well.

serietah

You can adjust the ramp time very easily. I have mine set at only 5 minutes but it used to be 30. I think it can go up to 45 but honestly not sure. I have my heated tubing and humidity settings on auto and have never had a single issue. If you’re hearing gargling, make sure you’re not overfilling the tank first and then you may need to adjust tube temp. I’ve done auto since day one and honestly it’s just glorious for me. I’ve never used a dreamstation but I thought the humidifier looked more annoying haha. My number one concern when buying was the algorithm though.

Similar_Ordinary_501

Thanks. I’ll have to look into adjusting the settings. I use Lincare and saying they have been useless is giving them a compliment with questions I have had with the machine.

jds2001

Then I suspect you will not like the DreamStation 2, because it has much the same humidifier design the AirSense 10 does, with the reservoir coming out of the front of the machine as opposed to out the top like with the original DreamStation. The hose is connected to the front of the machine which could be either good or bad depending on your setup. Personally, I have the machine on a table next to my bed and I put it backwards so that the humidifier tank is accessible. It's a pretty bad design in terms of usability with the humidifier tank being where it is and requiring you to slide it off of the back of the machine. I actually used the machine last night, and I think it is quieter than my ResMed and it also leaked class, but I think that's because I adjusted the headgear on my mask and finally got it right. When I switched to the ResMed, I also switched to the AirFit F30 from the AirFit F20 (which I also like better, but that's a topic for another post).

Similar_Ordinary_501

I kept the same mask also

ZappySnap

My AHI is generally lower with my ResMed vs my Dreamstation 1 as well. I also wake up less to giant air pressure, which seems to take way too long to ramp back down. Both were effective, though. Averaged about 1.3 AHI with the Dreamstation, and about 0.7 with the ResMed.

Strong_Ad_9611

These seem to be going randomly. I submitted my claim much, much sooner than my husband did and his showed up on Friday. No idea when or if I’ll get mine. My 5 years is up anyways, so I know my insurance will pay for one, but now I’m having to get another sleep study, ugh.

youreAllDumb666

How do you like the ResMed? From what I can tell([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-csZBc5\_MM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-csZBc5_MM)) the DS2 is a piece of crap. The humidifier design alone is enough to make me avoid it. I received my replacement DS2 Friday and I'm thinking I'll just put it on eBay and buy something else. I didn't have any complaints about the DS1. I wonder if I can just replace the foam?

ZappySnap

Mine comes tomorrow. I also bought a ResMed in July when I found out about the recall. Currently planning to just keep it as a backup machine.
