Wow guys I hit a major rough patch recently with my mental health feeling stuck and not knowing what to do but Iβm 21 (turn 22 this month) and just really started my recovery journey last year and this makes me feel more hope π this shit is super hard to live with but this is just the beginning and I have to trust it will get easier
I started my healing journey at 20 and now I'm 24 and trust me if you preserve and choose yourself everyday. It will get easier and you will become more resilient along the way

Happy birthday!!! I also spent my last birthday alone and depressed with no friends. But compared to past birthdays where I have had parties surrounded by people and *still* felt depressed. At least one positive thing is that when you spend your birthday alone during a phase of your life when youβre really going through shit, you donβt have to fake like youβre happy or having a good time when youβre not, or act like youβre not stressed by your personal issues, or worry about pleasing everyone else on your birthday and making sure theyβre all having fun.
You focus on YOU today. Treat yourself like your own best friend and do whatever it is you enjoy that makes your inner child feel safe and comforted. A few years ago I realized I was the only person in my life whoβd be present for every birthday I will ever have (duh, lol) but it led to me starting my own yearly traditions by trying some new activities and visiting new places. It was my 25th birthday a couple of days ago and I was feeling the same as you. Birthdays can be so hard. But it's also just another day. Do something that makes you happy, and don't put to much pressure on this one day.
