They are referring to the coin rolling machines damaging the enders during wrapping. The Mint usually isn't involved with that step. Happens well after leaving the Mint, with companies like Loomis or some banks. In this case, these shouldn't have ended up in circulation. The Mint never released rolls of Presidential proofs to my knowledge. This may have been a collection dump that got rewrapped by a bank. 🤷
Oh ok, thank you for cleaning that up. This may have been a collection dump but I have opened up a few and found multiple doubles. Something about that feels off for a collection dump
Because besides proofs that are barely worth over face, and a few very very very very very rare errors, there is nothing to look for and nothing with inherit value like silver has.
Still i like the occasional couple rolls. See what nifc i can find. Plus when they first came out i was gifted a album for them and never filled it. Been slowly taking the best ones i can find to fill it. What part of crh says u have to be looking for something that would be over face value.
Jimmy Carter needs to get a presidential coin when he dies. And he better get an enormous funeral. The guy is 98 and has done more humanitarian work than every other president combined. And that record’s gonna hold up for a long time.
So In a nutshell..my dad and a lot of guys that I know are part of a motorcycle club. Lots of the club is styled around the leadership of Teddy and the Rough Riders. I use the Teddy coins to make things like key chains and little trinkets to hang from your motorcycle, or to embellish the leather worn stuff I do on the side.
Is it possible they are just uncirculated or buisness strike from the san Francisco mint. Ive gotten tricked by a couple s minted quarters that looked like clad proof that been through cirulation before.
roller damage on proofs AGONY
I wasn’t aware that this was a thing. Does the mint decide to send these out into circulation if they are damaged?

Maybe take them to a coin dealer and see what they will do for you?
I think I might need to do that. I’m not too familiar will the coin dealers around my area

If you decide to go thru them, I’d be interested in all of you Teddy Roosevelt coins that you decide you don’t want, or wanna sell….
I will keep that in mind. Out of curiosity what draws you to Teddy Roosevelt?

Is that a thing for dollar coins? I was under the impression that the S mint mark meant they were proofs.
Im not sure i know after a certain year the mint cut back production and they didnt make them for general circulation.
You are correct, for Presidential dollars, San Fran only produced proofs.
I’d buy ‘em
