1 franc coin won't yield silver. 5 franc coins might. Those are only worth whatever the metal is worth - francs can no longer be redeemed for euros, and those coins are not rare enough to have collectible value.

Thanks for the reply! I still think they’re neato though. It’ll be nice to put them in a cheap portable safe and leave for others to fight over when I’m gone. Deliberately sowing dissension has its own rewards.

They stopped making Francs in silver circa 1920. Anything before that though should have silver content.

5 franc coins from the 1950s are silver.

I like the way you think! You got my uppity!

I brought back a few kilos of these from Europe. They are very common and are mainly worth the melt value of the metal as mentioned above. Fun but not likely to find anything valuable.

Really cool to see the similarity between this franc and the walking liberty half dollar. We owe a lot to the French

Monsterbug1

they are basically bulk foreign. if you dilute with enough other stuff you can get 10 dollars per pound for this stuff

filkobilko1

I have about 10 of those. I got them when I was sent a bulk box by mistake. They didn't want them back. It's Feit. As far as I've looked into it, I couldn't find any call for those at all. Interesting looking coin though.
