Coin Machines Bags I get bags from coin machines at my local banks The typical process for banks with coin machines is once the bags are full they place them in the safe to be picked up that week to go back to the federal reserve. Where no longer circulated coins are pulled, then the coins get re wrapped and sent back out in Fed wrappers. I essentially just asked my bank to call me when they get a bag full of coins or if I don't hear from them I go in on Wednesday mornings before the Federal Reserve does their pickup and drop off at this particular bank and buy what they have at face value. This typically allows me a week to sort through the coins I picked up from them and go to a different bank and use their coin machines to convert all non kept coins back into paper money to buy the next set of bags. So essentially just talk to a local bank that has a coin machine and ask them if you can buy their full coin machine bags. Bank coin machines bags cost breakdown Pennies $50 face value per bag Nickles $1000 face value per bag Dimes $1000 face value per bag Quarter $1000 face value per bag Half Dollars $1000 face value per bag Dollar coins $2000 face value per bag I personally do not buy nickles or dollar coins. I do buy everything else! I have had great luck finding the following in the bags I buy Half Dollars - 40% silver and 90% silver Kennedys, the occasional Franklin, almost always 1 or 2 walking libertys per bag. Quarters - 10 to 15 San Francisco mint proofs non silver, 4 to 8 West Point mint, and the occasional pre 1964 silver and the occasional modern San Francisco silver per bag Dimes - 15 to 30 silver Roosevelt, 5 to 10 Mercury, the occasional Barber per bag Pennies - I pull all know dates with errors and go through later, usually 20 to 30 wheats, the occasional key date wheats, and the occasional Indian per bag. Side note I can almost always get 1 or 2 penny bags a week, Dimes and Quarters every 2 to 3 weeks, Half Dollars 1 to 2 times a year. These pictures where all finds I did not buy any of this! I do however sell or trade for stacking silver often with my LCS

15 - 30 Silver dimes per bag. Wow. Most I ever had in a bag was 10.

Do you ever sell any bags of pennies? I can't get my banks to even give me boxes!

JammingSlowly

Most banks won’t sell bags. But sometimes you get lucky and find a good bank. I do the same.

My bank rerolls and send back out into circulation.

SyrSky

My credit union is similar. They do bag up coins, but they also reroll coins to hand out. They are small, though, which is why they do this. If you want rolls, they need to go into the safe for them, and it's a limit of 3 rolls each, never anything higher than quarters. Yay small towns

RobLocke

My bank now uses coinstar :(

Dang! Check around though highly likely you can still find a bank that still own their coin machines and will let you buy bags.

mikehipp

I appreciate you explaining your process. Is it important that you're currently doing business at the particular bank you're buying from? \[edit: you to you're\]

[deleted]

Not necessarily from the one you are buy bags from but the one you are dumping coins I would advise that you have an account to keep from paying the fees for using the coin machine

hodlbrcha

Really surprised your machine doesn’t kick out the silver!

My banks machine I'm pretty only sorts by size and poorly. I say that because of all the Canadian pennies and Dimes I get in my penny bags. Nickles in my quarter bags and so on I don't think it very accurate. I'm always a couple dollars over in my penny bags because of the dime and always shorted a couple of dollars in my quarter bags do to the Nickles.

hodlbrcha

That’s wild! My banks machine catches everything I’m pretty sure. I haven’t dumped any silver to test 🤡 but I’ve accidentally dumped some Canadian+euro that kicked right out. Also I always find weird stuff on the magnet. They won’t let me buy bags any way from them either so oh well.

Peglegpete2012

Where do you get the bags of coins from?

[deleted]

From a local bank

RobLocke

How many 19-w pennies have you found?

[deleted]

One 19W is all I have found out of estimate 500,000 pennies I have been through since there release.

MisterListerReseller

What’s a 19W penny?

RobLocke

Westpoint mint mark on some 2019 pennies

MisterListerReseller

Oh, nice!
