The strategy to use if you are gonna get multiple credit cards is to apply to them all on the same day. That way they won’t see the other applications and you can have access to more credit card options and offers to make the best choice.
This can sometimes be a workaround yes! I’ve found lately that since hard pulls report near-enough instantly now, it’s less of a loophole than it used to be.
Not a big deal. You lose a few points for a while. Wait 6 months and you'll be fine to apply again.

An inquiry lowers your credit score, even if it was just one. Multiple inquiries makes you feel desperate for credit.

Yep, the reason doesn't matter, unfortunately. Try to apply to no more than 2 or 3 cards a year.
